𝙰𝚁𝚃𝙷𝚄𝚁 .

Akin to Arthur,  Nix will go to any length to protect her husband,  to make sure he’s safest,  to make sure he’s treated right.  This can pose something of a problem if they’re in a situation where they’re both trying to protect each other,  yes,  but it’s all due to the fact that together,  it’s the closest to home they’ve ever been.  They’re each other’s sanctuary,  they’ve built the life they share together from the ground up and with their bare hands,  there’s nothing they wouldn’t do to protect it.

Arthur does tend to get more respect anyway,  yes,  but Nix also has a super keen sense as to whether or not something’s legitimate or false when it comes to him.  Of the two she’s the most likely to intervene where she perhaps necessarily shouldn’t,  because he’s become her world and everything in it.  She is obsessive,  and our societal norms don’t cross her mind,  largely because she’s only in said society through happenstance.  She was ripped from it at seven years old and could never correctly function in it again.  Thank Riktor.  So,  yes,  she’s obsessive when it comes to Arthur,  who is essentially her entire world.  You pass him once in the street and she has you clocked,  anymore than that and she receives floods of information — names,  where you frequent,  where you work etc.  She puts no work into this,  she just has a legion of both rabid fans who want her to know everything,  and hoards of haters who want to torture her.  She puts no work into it,  but sure does reap the benefits.

To her,  the only world is the one she and Arthur have.  She never was privy to ‘real life’ before him,  and so her both worshipping him,  and treasuring every single aspect of him is key in how she loves.  She’s all or nothing and always has been.

Now,  Nix by nature is a violent person,  I know less than six people have seen Guns Akimbo,  but just take my word for it or hit up the movie.  She’s violent and enjoys violence to the point that she’s largely unbeatable in-universe.  When you add that to the way in which she loves and how impulsive she is by nature?  It becomes something of an eruption.  In large contrast to how she deals with insult and aggression toward herself,  Nix cares greatly about her husband’s well-being.  She kidnapped Nashton from his cell (a feat to get in there through Arkham in the first place but she is an unstoppable force when she decides to be),  sedated him by bashing his head in on metal grated stairs,  and handed him off to Arthur to kill — the sole reason he wasn’t dead on arrival is because she knew Arthur wanted and,  in her mind,  deserved the final blows.  Were that not the case he’d have come out in pieces,  and she’d have felt good about it.  All this for the slander he spread about Arthur online.  Not the serial killing,  not the terrorism,  not literally blowing her up and retraumatising her.  Arthur.  

Her morals are basically none.  Her impetus is consistently selfish and self-serving.  Arthur being an extension of herself,  and her whole world;  he’s her impetus.  The only reason Bruce still has all of his limbs after everything that’s gone on,  and what Nix perceives as countless insults and hurts to Arthur’s heart,  is... Arthur yet again.  Call it not wanting to hurt him moreso through loss,  or selfishly wondering if he’d never forgive her and thus she would lose.  Either cause works,  both keep Bruce in... one piece.  

Nix is canonically criminally insane,  and far from the realms of any sort of ‘decent’ logic.  It can’t be applied to her.  Once two plus two equals four to her,  it’s over.  She does not stop.  You could’ve looked at him funny one time in the liquor store,  you could’ve made him uncomfortable with an advance.  She’s wildly,  frankly terrifyingly protective,  and again,  obsessive.  Not eating around it.  Arthur in his canon is an anti-hero,  and the protagonist.  Nix is for half the movie the main villain,  and remains an antagonist in spite of her actions throughout,  there’s no grey area.  She’s warped and dangerous and as aforementioned,  all it takes is a decision on her part,  and it’s done.

Of the two,   while she has no idea how to protect herself or any respect for herself (hence why Arthur does and should step in when needed),  she is the one you don’t want to cross.  You cross her by hurting Arthur,  by her perceiving you’ve hurt him,  or crossed a line with him,  or blinked at him wrong.  In-universe this should be common,  common knowledge.

*      )      bruce   thomas   wayne   is   highly   influenced   by   the   batman  (2022)   with   taking   inspiration  and  some   lore  from   the   joker  (2019).   since   this   film   is   crime   noir   heavy   so  is  bruce  ,  he   reads  more   like   a  gothic   character  and   is  going through   heavy   PSTD.   my   bruce   sadly   is  not  lifted  from  comics  nor  is  steeped  in   any  other   batman   universe.  along  with   being   reeves   based  i   have  also  incorporated  my  own   headcanons   and  take.  *truly  he  is  an  OC  fnjfdsfgg. bruce  is  31  and   is   6′6   6′8   with   the   boots.  he   enjoys   writing   and   has   natural   talent  in  drawing   and   obviously   criminal   forensics.   he  is  STILL   learning  and  of  course  he  is  OBSESSED   with   technology.   his   iq   borders   genius   but  since  his   tragic  loss  he  is    his  own   worst  enemy.

independent sophie dumond of 2019's joker. this blog is part-time, exceedingly picky, and likely slow. exclusive to @jokethur's arthur and our own plot-driven canon we've built with my main muse, nix degraves, found at @banschivs. some influences from 2022's the batman. full pages here are unlikely.

currently sophie is not only a mother, and working in gotham square at gotham national bank, she is also putting herself through night school as a means to become a financial advisor some time in the future. she's aiming for a better life for her and her daughter, and like most in gotham, is pursuing some sense of freedom among the rubble. she is, however, due to her tenuous ties to one arthur fleck in the past, currently being surveilled by the court of owls. further information on the court and their reach can be found here.

number one banned fc is gaga, and essentially any other character from that upcoming musical. in an ideal world i'm allowed to forget it even exists, i don't want to so much as catch a whiff of its scent. for that reason i can be exceedingly picky when it comes to following back dc blogs. sophie, and the universe within which jessie and i have built that she exists, works perfectly for me.

though it's unlikely i'll be working off my dash much, i do ask all those i follow to please tag 'terminal illness cw' or 'cancer cw' where applicable. in turn i'll do my best to tag anything needed.

The girlies have been approached about doing a podcast by various companies numerous times, with every offer getting larger and larger paycheck-wise. The main issue is always the content ideas, which tend to be lacking. The companies just want Nix and Cee in a room together chatting but it feels like a weak long-term plan. The only one Cee was properly keen on was getting drunk and giving advice to people to write in, but her PR firm was against it. They seem unconvinced Nix and Cee have the same fanbase.

Cee has been "buying" a house in Gotham for about a year now. No doubt if she does final settle on a place it will need major renovations. Could be years. She'll maybe just have to stay with Nix and Arthur again this weekend.

Cee can usually keep it together pretty well around Nix. Or maybe it's the kids that keep her steady; she doesn't feel that same falling off the edge of the world way she does most of the time. She likes the feeling. It's ego too, she knows she appears pretty put together. It does mean however that if she does begin to feel herself slipping she doesn't come around as much; months can go past with just occasional video calls. She never wants to be pitied by the Wayne family; she has visions of Nix telling the girls Aunt Cee is coming to stay because she's so sad and lonely. Maybe she is, but you don't have to say it.

Cee often makes it clear that her dislike of Arthur is not personal, she's just against husbands in general, but she is serious about Nix leaving him and running away with Cee to the English countryside. Ready and willing, with a really good divorce lawyer on speed dial.

The kids, but especially the girls, she can't help it, are a pretty big motivation for Cee. She's got a picture of them as her lock screen (which she got absolute shit about online by the way when a London pap managed to get a picture of it, phone in her hand). They have not unlocked some unknown maternal instincts in her but, before knowing them, she was probably something of a nihilist. Let the world burn. Now she's a little more motivated to make the world better. Make the road a little easier for those girls.

⧖.* 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙳𝙴𝙶𝚁𝙰𝚅𝙴𝚂 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 𝙺𝙴𝙴𝙿𝚂𝙰𝙺𝙴𝚂.

The original Degraves family home in the suburbs outside of Gotham is the quintessential picket fence dream. While he had his family Grant made enough to buy a place big enough to grow into, should he and Irene come to want more children. As it happened they were happy as they were —and, like her daughter, Irene didn't find pregnancy to be a picnic—, but they also never really got the chance to finalise that decision.

Grant now lives mostly out of an apartment in the city near GCPD Headquarters, though if he has his grandchildren, it's likely that he stays with them at the original family home. It's not as much as a haunted house or mausoleum as the locals would have you believe, even if it isn't permanently lived-in anymore.

It does stand, however, as something of a shrine to the Degraves' old lives, or the life that should have been before Riktor elected to literally blew it up. Only one room is off-limits now that Grant has the children stay, and that's he and Irene's bedroom. He himself sleeps in the spare.

Arthur and Nix's children very much have their father's gentle nature, even if they have their mother's feisty curiosity. This means that things, even treasured heirlooms are safe with the kids in the house. Safe from breakages, that is. Both Evelyn and Lilac tend to have sticky fingers, particularly when it comes to anything in Nix's old bedroom, in which they sleep whenever they stay with Grant. Their little brother sleeps in what was his uncle Wilder's old room. Both are decked out for children still, since Grant never moved a single thing after the car bomb.

First to find its way home to the Fleck house was one of Nix's old beanie babies. The black cat is now proudly owned by the two girls. Several other objects have gone 'missing' from the Degraves family home, mostly from Nix's childhood bedroom, but not solely so.

Arthur, too, has taken up the habit of nabbing little things here and there. One of his earliest interactions with his father-in-law ended with him taking several of Nix's baby photos for himself, and most recently he brought a children's book of Irene's home. To this day the Fleck's are still plucking little pieces of the Degraves history as keepsakes, or indeed hopeful reminders for Nix, whose memory of her old life is almost entirely blank.

The objects, including a photograph of herself and Wilder on her seventh birthday which she still cannot look at, provide little flashes for her, and jog some otherwise stubborn memories out of their hiding places. It isn't solely for the klepto thrill of stealing that her family members claim little pieces for their own. It's for connection, and to bring her little pieces of her life she otherwise lost entirely. Nix's whole personhood is built on grief, and a more than clouded memory due to PTSD and other piled traumas. Her family, even down to the toddlers, are trying to help her see through those clouds, even if it's only for a second.

It hurts her, yes, and sometimes doesn't even work at all, but she treasures these little things, each in their own way. They're a broader look at life for her, and added depth to a personhood she otherwise doesn't have at all. And nothing is ever actually stolen anyway. Grant knows exactly where each thing is, and why they're where they are... arguably they're back in their rightful place. It comforts him in many ways, too.

       SERAPHINA USED TO hold a fair amount of disgust for public gatherings like this, but like most of her emotions, she’s smothered it to a dull apathy. clients and targets alike tended to frequent such gatherings, and thus it is a necessary part of her occupation to thread through the insipid conversations and over-inflated egos as a tigress pushes through algae-slick waters.

        she narrows her gaze. not even the theatrics of a fashion show’s after party are enough to prevent the robotics of her left eye from picking out the facial features of every person over whom her gaze sweeps. name, age, known allies, information of all sorts file through her vision until her target makes itself known. nix fleck, née degraves. one needn’t have dr. pitchiner’s photographic memory to remember a profile like hers.

       the woman’s bony shoulder checks nix’s, not so aggressively as to attract attention, but certainly not gently either. the other will feel a small piece of cardstock slipped into her hand with the gesture, one that reads onyx enterprises in a nondescript black font. if the other is angry at the sudden intrusion into her personal space, there is no time to even open her mouth before the six foot four waif of a woman (courtesy of red-soled louboutins) leans in to murmur, ‘ wait five minutes before you follow, mrs. fleck. ’

        dr. pitchiner makes a casual, elegant path towards a staircase leading up to restrooms on the second floor.
