Night Time Shenanigans - The raccoons are back. This is the third year we’ve documented the one-eyed mom (on the feeder in the back) with some of this season’s babies. Time to put the spicy seed mix in this feeder…
It was a surprise to see a flock of bushtits at the feeders this week. They are such friendly sociable little birds that chitter amongst themselves when they perch in trees.
The winters are here. Northern Flicker Red Shafted variety and Red Winged Black Birds. Two of the most beautiful birds that visit the NoCoBirds habitat.
A New Bird! It looks like an American Robin but is completely gray. There are no oranges or beiges anywhere on it. It’s roughly the size of an American Robin. My Colorado birds book does not have this one listed anywhere, but Sibley Birds West includes the Townsend’s Solitaire, which seems to be this one. I’ll keep my eyes out for future videos and photos of this unique visitor
The winter bomb cyclone brought some snow and dropped temperatures to -10F here in Fort Collins. Here’s a collection of our latest visitors for the holidays. Merry Christmas!
The Male American Goldfinch is back on the hummer feeder. I filled the center well, which is an ant trap, with water, and he figured out he could drink from there.
Female Black Chinned Hummingbird - We still have hummers! I was getting ready to take down the feeders for the season when I saw a black chinned hummingbird at one of them. I thought they had already migrated, but this one was very busy today, filling up at the feeder all day long.
Just wanted to post something from the new camera setup. The ECD’s are goofy and sort of bratty to other species. But they are totally lovey-dovey with their own kind.
We are expecting a SNOW storm Friday night - not so much for Fort Collins, but the Denver area is expected to get a significant amount. Of course, I just put out the tomatoes and bell peppers. They will need to be covered for the storm and the few days after while temperatures are at or below freezing, but they should come through just fine.
