Amid a series of disputes over the issue of the acceptance of Yemenian refugees on Jeju Island, a drug preference food called Kart has been introduced to Korea. According to the Chosun Ilbo yesterday, a Yemeni who applied for refugee status after entering Korea in January 2014 was found to have a considerable amount of the cart. This fact came out in January 2017 at a club in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. When he was given a sentence of non-appointing, he filed a lawsuit against the court like other asylum seekers, but the court confirmed that he can not be regarded as a refugee. In addition, he was sentenced to one year in prison for purchasing a cart in Daejeon at the end of June 2018 for violating the Drug Control Act and the Immigration Control Act. Meanwhile, the largest number of 700,000 people ever participated in a petition by Cheong Wa Dae for the abolition of the refugee law and the Mushimary Insurance system on Jeju Island. #Refugeecrimes #Yemen #Foreign hatred #Foreigncrimes #Critical #NoRefugees #700,000 #petition

I just learned the difference via @rescueorg A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her home because of war, violence or persecution, often without warning An asylum seeker is someone who is also seeking international protection from dangers in his or her home country, but whose claim for refugee status hasn’t been determined legally. An immigrant is someone who makes a conscious decision to leave his or her home and move to a foreign country with the intention of settling there A migrant is someone who is moving from place to place (within his or her country or across borders), usually for economic reasons such as seasonal work. #climaterefugees #wewelcomerefugees #standwithrefugees #withrefugees #syriarefugees #istandwithrefugees #refugeesupport #refugeescamp #veteransbeforerefugees #helprefugees #norefugees #picsartrefugees #supportrefugees #rohingyarefugees #stepwithrefugees #refugeesnotwelcome #welcomerefugees #refugees #refugeestories #refugeesweclcome #refugeeswelcomehere #syrianrefugees #helprefugeesuk #refugeeswelcome #refugeescrisis #teamrefugees #everydayrefugees #refugeesarewelcomehere #refugeesarewelcome #refugeesgr (at Levittown, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3dUjerBwhs/?igshid=1hvpnuksev161

"Refugee Female. Nine years old."
Picture a small, picturesque, mountain-top town in Tennessee with a long literary and artistic history. Living in Sewanee, I have met a remarkable poet, A. E. Stallings. She is a member of the faculty of the Sewanee Writers' Conference during its intensive two-week session in the summer, but she normally lives in Athens, Greece, with her husband and two young children. Knowing and admiring her, I have followed Alicia Stallings's efforts there to help refugees in the largest refugee crisis since World War II. According to the International Rescue Committee, 1.3 million refugees have passed through Greece since 2014. The majority of these flee from violence and persecution in Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Tumblr media
Stallings's children provide a way to think about the impact this many people have on a city and a country. When they saw refugees camping in one of Athens's beautiful, well-kept city squares, they asked, "Is this war coming here?" Of course they were apprehensive and wondered, but they also identified with the refugee children: "They were very aware that kids very much like themselves were displaced and in Greece."
As a photographer looking over images of such scenes, I find the reality more than shocking. It involves wounds, muddy feet, drownings, lost dreams, and so much more. In Stallings's poem "From an autopsy report of an unknown drowning victim, Ikaria," two brief lines paint an unforgettable picture:
Female. Nine years old. Found wearing a blouse, And a pair of sweatpants patched with Minnie Mouse.
Tumblr media
Children who survive draw pictures of massacres they had witnessed, or drownings at sea. Stallings says, "Every single displaced person has arrived in a dinghy. Every single person has risked drowning." Their dreams will be as haunted by this tragedy as their new everyday lives will be.
Perhaps poets and photographers can tell this story most poignantly.

…Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.” — Martin Niemöller Recently a friend of mine was complaining about how the “Media” was “always giving us simplistic answers to complex questions”. When I mentioned that the “Media” might only be reacting to the universal law of supply and demand, and that it was quite possibly us doing this to ourselves by what “Media” we consume and support, they got quite….. @julian_ray_photography @julians_errant_clickings. . . . . . #Nikon #withoutavoice #forgotten #ignored #lost #nocountry #refugeesweclcome #welcomerefugees #istandwithrefugees #teamrefugees #helprefugeesuk #picsartrefugees #refugeescamp #supportrefugees #refugeesgr #refugeesnotwelcome #refugeesupport #stepwithrefugees #refugeeswelcomehere #withrefugees #standwithrefugees #everydayrefugees #refugeescrisis #refugeeswelcome #helprefugees #refugeestories #climaterefugees #norefugees #veteransbeforerefugees #refugees https://www.instagram.com/p/B3gMWIQBRYl/?igshid=ygqi5g4x7dkr
