I'm rewatching Flashback in season 3 of Voyager and in the episode Janeway mind melds into Tuvok's mind and they go back to the time that Tuvok served in the Excelsior with Captain Sulu.
And then Harry Kim and Janeway discover that Sulu didn't include the Excelsior's adventures trying to rescue Kirk and Bones from the Klingon empire in his official logs.
Harry is shocked by this but Janeway is quick to defend the generation of officers that were Kirk and Sulu:
"Space must have seemed a whole lot bigger back then. It's not surprising they had to bend the rules a little. They were a little slower to invoke the Prime Directive, and a little quicker to pull their phasers. Of course, the whole bunch of them would be booted out of Starfleet today. But I have to admit, I would have loved to ride shotgun at least once with a group of officers like that."
Oh, Janeway, there's something I want to tell you about your future self...
'A little quick to pull phasers.' Becomes a thing for you and your crew. This is especially true of a former Borg you steal from the Collective.
KANG [on viewscreen]: Mister Sulu, I see they have finally given you the captaincy you deserve.
SULU: Thank you, Kang.
KANG [on viewscreen]: Do not let it end prematurely.
SULU: Kang, we've been on a survey mission studying this nebula. Our navigation system malfunctioned, and I'm afraid we got lost. As soon as we've completed repairs, we'll be on our way.
KANG [on viewscreen]: We'd be happy to escort you back to Federation space. SULU: Very generous of you, but we can manage.
KANG [on viewscreen]: I insist.
SULU: Actually, an escort would be welcome. We'd hate to lose our way again.
KANG [on viewscreen]: Bring your ship about, bearing one eight one, mark two. SULU: Nice to see you again, Kang. (Transmission ends.)
VALTANE: Captain Sulu?
SULU: Man your station, Lieutenant. We're not giving up just yet.
Janeway wasn't kidding, she's so fascinated with Sulu's captain style of Bullshitting, which now that I know she admired the Captains of Old, I see signs when Janeway does it herself.
And when Seven does it too.
(LOL, If Liam Shaw thought Seven, Picard, and Riker were bad they have nothing on Janeway.)(Affectionate).

Tuvok and Sulu are both 🌿✨plant dads✨🌿
Inspired by @mylittleredgirl post about Tuvok and his orchids
Tuvok was only 29, and an ensign when Sulu was captain of the Excelsior. It’s also indicated that he did not enjoy his time at the academy or on board (partly from his own ingrained xenophobia, partly from human prejudice) and it’s one of the reasons he retired. I’d like to think however, because of Sulu’s friendship and experiences with Spock, and Sulu’s generally chill and kind vibes that he and Tuvok got along. I mean, why else would Tuvok do such a sentimental thing as bring the captain tea? Even if he disagreed with the Captain’s course of action? That is not in the job description of an ensign or a junior science officer. ☕️
What if Sulu got Tuvok into taking care of orchids?
Imagine Sulu, who, even though he’s a captain now, still keeps up with his xenobotany hobby, noticing a grumpy ensign with no notable friends. Something about him, maybe it’s because he’s a junior science officer, maybe it’s because he’s alone, reminds him of his friend and former commander. So he just reached out to him in casual, professional conversation whenever they’re in the Excelsior’s greenhouse. Eventually one day, Captain Sulu gets a variety of extraterrestrial orchids (rank hath its privileges). One of them just so happens to be of Vulcan variety.
Ensign Tuvok is low-key enamored by it, for scientific purposes of course as a science officer, it’s not like he felt pressured to join Starfleet and is feeling a bit homesick. Sulu, even though he knows perfectly well how to get a Vulcan orchid to flourish, or any plant really, he’s been doing this for decades after all, feigns ignorance. He frequently asks Tuvok questions about it, encouraging him to look after it (for the interests of xenobotany obv). It’s as much genuine assessment of the peculiar orchid as it is a deliberate attempt to encourage Tuvok’s confidence.
“Captain, with all due respect, I do not see the logic in asking me these questions when the answers provided by the ship’s computer would more than suffice.”
“Ah, I would Ensign, but this particular plant has been exceedingly temperamental. May be a mutation or a new botanical disease? I’m afraid it seems the Federation’s data on Vulcan’s few and delicate flora is not enough. I find myself relying on your botanical expertise 😉”
Over time Sulu leaves the orchid more and more in Ensign Tuvok’s capable hands, until he ultimately suggests he keep it once they’ve learned all that they can from the anomalous Vulcan flower. Tuvok delightedly politely accepts. Even after he retires from Starfleet for a chunk of time, and Captain Sulu is long gone due to the limits of a human life span. Even through his attempted (and left incomplete) Kohlinar, and his return to Starfleet.
The Vulcan orchids to which Tuvok tends on Voyager, are result of dozens of generations of the same orchid specimen Captain Sulu gave Tuvok 🌺

ST Voy s3e2 Flashback
Neelix gives Tuvok something weird to drink and Tuvok starts having strange memory lapses... coincidence?
I like how the ep kind of plays with our expectations of what is the cause of Tuvok’s illness.
Janeway has to do mind meld with Tuvok as a trusted friend to help him heal his mind because he keeps remembering that he let some girl fall off a cliff. But it’s not his memory. Or is it?
The mystery all in all was pretty good in this ep, as well as the explanation.
In Tuvok’s memory we get to see captain Sulu and Janice Rand during Undiscovered Country when they try to go save Kirk and Bones from Klingons. That was really cool.
We also learn Tuvok’s backstory and that he disliked humans when he was young which was because his parents forced him to join Starfleet.
Looks like Tuvok had it rough, and he went through a lot of personal growth before the series which is why he’s now the most dependable crewmember.
s3e3 The Chute
Oh, it’s the “our guys are sentenced for a crime they didn’t commit and get sent to underground prison where they have to fight to survive” episode!
Paris and Kim’s friendship is tested by the prison and the implant that makes them aggressive. It was moderately entertaining. The best part was when they talked how they would even eat Neelix’s leola root because they were so hungry. lol
They also meet a prisoner that is capable of controlling himself despite the implant and he wrote a manifesto about it.
They try to get other prisoners to help with escape but it doesn’t work out. That was a let down, but on the other hand if they succeeded, it would’ve been unbelievable too. They just didn’t have the means to change the prisoners minds when they were all going crazy from the implants.
Meanwhile Janeway is trying to get her crew out by negotiating with the aliens that locked them up, but the aliens are jerks and obviously as bad as Cardassians.
I was really hoping that Janeway would free all those “terrorists” just as a way to show middle finger to those aliens. But she didn’t :(
The prison was actually in space and Neelix got them out with his ship safely, but it looked like he wasn’t even pursued by the aliens. Weird.
All in all, this episode had a happy ending for Paris and Kim, but the issue of those unfriendly aliens was unsolved and very dissatisfying. I wonder if Voyager will run into them again.

7. Who would make up your crew dream team? Captain Janeway, First Officer Damar (now, hear me out - I know he’s not Starfleet, but it doesn’t specify Starfleet and he’s a good first officer; he’s clever, he questions his superiors, and Janeway would benefit from a little Cardassian ingenuity now and then), Chief Engineer B’Elanna Torres, Science Officer Jadzia Dax, Chief Medical Officer the EMH, Chief of Security Tuvok, Ops Nog (I’m going to stick Nog on ops because I think Janeway would mold him into a great bridge officer), Helm... I don’t know? Sulu? Who was a good pilot? Non of them really stood out to me. Let’s have Deanna Troi and Neelix resume their roles as counselor and morale officer respectively too.

13. A ship you wish had been canon and why? My silly brain was thinking like starship at first and I was like....? LOL. Hmm. I’m not as into Garak/Bashir as I once was, but I really wish the powers that be had had the balls to not back down on it. But I’m going to have to say Seven/the Doctor on Voyager. I think it was hinted at very strongly. I think they had a lot in common and wonderful chemistry and if Seven was going to be paired off with someone, he was the route to go.
16. If you could steal the basic plot of an episode for one show and apply to another which would you choose? I like things the way they are, though I think it would be interesting to see DS9 and Voyager get flipped for a little while - see Janeway interact with Weyoun and Dukat and take on the Dominion and see Sisko struggle with all the dangers and unknowns of the Delta Quadrant. He would have never gotten them home. LOL

Definitely, in elementary school I noticed that I had a thought process different from most of my peers. I’ve never mentioned this on this sight, but it turns out that I have OCD and that affects my thought process.
Bones: Do you have a nickname?
In high school, my freshman history teacher called me “Night train” because “train” rhymes with my last name. He did that until I was a senior. At one point, just out of curiosity, and I let him know that that was purely why, I asked him if he remembered my real name. He didn’t XD
Uhura: Do you like to sing or dance?
I like to sing!
Scotty: Favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)?
I don’t drink; so for a healthy drink I really like milk. Unhealthy, root beer!

I was on the radio a few times for my University, and just knowing that made me feel a sense of pride that I’d never felt before. It even made me change the focus of my major.

Tucker: Favorite movie?
It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. It’s about a guy who crashes his car and a bunch of people decide to check on him, but he’s dying. He says that since they came to him he’s giving them $350,000 buried under a big W in Santa Rosita Park. They can’t figure out how to split the money, so they decide to race there - 200 miles. What they don’t know is that the money is stolen and now they have the police eyeing them. It’s a really funny story with a lot of chaos.

Wild: Lion. Domesticated: Dog.

I was born in New Jersey because my mom’s doctor had to go out of state to NJ for some reason.
