A new part, starting with chapter 1 of Kotet will be up soon. Tittle TBD. Kotet is shorter than Kotfe was, I've already finished writing all of it and it's about 14 chapters.

Heads up for anyone who's been reading my story, I've decided to split "A Different Type of War" into two separate works on Ao3. This became a much longer story than I thought it would originally. I'm almost at 50 chapters and not even halfway through Kotfe.
So I'm going to make the split between SoR and Kotfe and then do a third work when I reach Kotet. No chapters will be deleted from the current work until they have been all copied and republished in a new work. "A Different Type of War" will also be the title for the Kotfe work, so if there are suggestions for the SoR chapters tittle, I'm taking suggestions.
So a guide for anyone who's interested in starting this is the current set up:
What They Signed Up For - Covers aspects of the Trooper story from level 1 to Makeb.
A Different Type of War - Covers Trooper story and some of the Jedi Knight story from SoR to early Kotfe. Jedi Consular and Sith Inquisitor are characters but not the main focus.
And this will be new set up:
What They Signed Up For - Covers aspects of the Trooper story from level 1 to Makeb.
An Unlikely Team - Covers Trooper story and some of the Jedi Knight story in SoR (Ends at chapter 25)
A Different Type of War - Covers Kotfe with the twist of a Jedi Knight Commander and Trooper with Valkorion in her head (Starts at chapter 26)
Tittle TBD 2 - Continues story into Kotet
(Sorry if this is confusing, feel free to ask questions)

Stopping Commodore Margok brought a new lead. Mandalorians that broke from the Revanites, led by someone named Torch. This group might be able to shed some more light on what exactly the Revanites were planning, the issue comes with trying to find them.
Unable to find them, they had the night off. Or they were supposed to.
The safehouse was relatively quiet that morning as everyone was searching over information either identify Revanites from an encrypted list or mark possible locations for Torch and the Mandalorians.
It was then when a comm started ringing.
They looked to each other slightly confused as everyone checked whose it was. Theron took a comm from his bag "Its yours Major."
Her brow knit together "I thought you shut these down."
He nodded, checking it over "I did. Someone's remotely turned it back on." His brow raised seeing the frequency. "It's General Garza."
Sinnam looked to Aric "Why's she calling me and not you?"
He shook his head "No idea. She knows what's happening enough to stop the Republic from properly trying to arrest you. Something's got to go wrong for her to try to call you though."
A small sigh escaped her as she took the comm. "Alright." She looked to Lana "You don't repeat a word of what you see to anyone."
The Sith nodded "Breaking the thing trust we have wouldn't be beneficial to anyone."
That was the best answer she was probably going to get. She answered the call. "Major. I understand Havoc is engaged on Rishi without official orders."
Sinnam kept her expression still "It's complicated Sir."

What They Signed Up For (Final Chapter) - Chapter 13 - Something Romantic
Summary: Sinnam grew up on a planet that in the last war was a constant battle ground between the Republic and Empire. She's been fighting the Empire since as soon as she could walk. Joining Havoc Squad was about to change her life forever.
Semi slow burn for F!trooper x Aric.
Chapter: 13/13
Chapter Summary: Love is in the air, bringing families together
Note: Thanks to everyone who supported this story so far. It's not the end for these characters. The story is going to continue in another part focusing on Shadow of Revan onwards. I have a few chapters written already, just need to edit it, so look out for that.

Start at Chapter 1
~~~
Sinnam didn't get dressed up for much. Her mom and brother preferred eating in. She had never dated much, and the job certainly didn't require it often. The most she was typically ever dressed up for was ceremonial services in the military.
But dating Aric changed things. Neither of them could cook a decent meal to save a life.
And typically they didn't eat at extremely fancy restaurants in the first place since making reservations like that was near impossible given their schedule.
But tonight was something slightly different. He had organized a whole night to sweep her away. Being on Trelin to help fix things up gave him the advantage that Aovek knew people she could call to help him pull some strings.
Aric had given her the coordinates of where to meet him. When her speeder pulled up she saw him in a full tuxedo standing in front of a decorated boat. It was filled with string lights and a romantic table setting.
With a flower in his other hand, he offered his free hand to her to help her out of the speeder. She was in a lacey blue dress with the necklace he had given her resting around her neck. "You look beautiful." He whispered almost breathlessly.
A wide smile crossed her face. "Thank you. You look great."
He walked her down to the boat and helped her on. She laughed "What is all of this Aric?"
They sat down together at the candle lit table. The man driving the boat came down and set two plates of food out for them. Aric just couldn't stop smiling. "This is me treating you the way you deserve."
A small laugh left her "Two years together officially is a celebration, a gift and some flowers was all I had planned. This is a bit over the top."
Theron had sent Jace a message not long after Ziost happened just to let him know who made it out alive and heading to Tython. Since then, they had barely spoken to each other. According to Marcus, Theron took a few days off and they hadn't heard from him either besides his report for Ziost being turned in.
And that wouldn't have been too strange or even important if he could get in contact with Sinnam and Aric.
That report genuinely shook Jace to read. In the mess with the Sith Emperor, there was another problem they needed to deal with. General Garza's trial was coming up in three weeks.
Not only had they both been issued a subpoena two days ago, while on Ziost, he needed their help. The Senate wanted Garza's head, through her career she had made enemies, she knew that. But they were catching up with her. Garza was willing to face punishment for her decisions but with their help, he could get her a lighter sentence.
He needed to be able to talk to them first though.
A few days passed, and Aric filed leave time for all of Havoc Squad for the next two weeks. Elara, Yuun and Vik had left Tython but on leave, they didn't track where they went and they weren't answering his calls. Technically they didn't have to.
So Jace made a call he normally wouldn't and she picked up. "Satele." He greeted.
She flashed him a small smile "Jace. This is a surprise."
He raised his brow. "Is it, given the Jedi Order have been holding an entire spec force team and not providing  any form of updates for a week now?"
Satele stuck by her decision. "All but Major Kevu have been released. Medical treatments are private records."
"Not in the military."
She paused a moment. "That is true, but are you asking as her commanding officer or the man married to her mother?"
Seked could feel something brewing. He was sitting in front of the navigation console looking for something. Waiting.
Then a call came in. "Repeat: Republic call sign Aurek Nen-hey!" Theron greeted "Finally!"
With how dangerous this was, he was fairly certain Theron was going to reach out eventually. Yes, Satele had pulled Seked from the mission to hunt the Emperor, but he wasn't through. "Theron, are you alright?"
"That would be a negative Master Jedi!" There was clear panic in his voice. "I'm in Imperial space over Ziost. Tried to slip in to help out my ground team, but now I used the wrong set of clearance codes and shields are low!"
His brow knit together "Why do you have a ground team on Ziost."
A bitter laugh left Theron. "Asking myself the same Damn thing. I was getting reports, demented soldiers, slave and civilians population under fire. Had suspicions of what it meant but I wasn't sure. I sent a team in dark for reconnaissance but it's all out of control. It's him. The Emperor."
With Revan dead, Major Kevu was reinstated as a member of the Republic military. After what General Garza tried to pull off with Eclipse Squad Spec Forces was going through some hardships. It was surprisingly, Master Satele who stood up for Havoc. She got them reassigned to the task force specifically designed for stopping the Emperor.
It was a cross between the Jedi, military and SIS.
Their first official meeting was taking place in a staging room on the Coruscant military base. It was no surprise to see Theron there as their SIS coordinator, but she was expecting a different Jedi. "Major Kevu, meet Master Surro. Havoc Squad, the Sixth line." Theron introduced.
The Jedi offered her hand to Kevu. Typically Jedi bowed. But she tried not to show how it threw her for a moment as she shook the Jedi's hand "Looking forward to working with you Master Jedi."
The woman smirked "Same here Major."
Theron projected an image on the holo. The two groups came over to the briefing table to get started. "We've been getting reports in the past hour of riots breaking out on Ziost. Reports of possessions. Murders. It's where our search is starting for the Emperor."
Master Surro shook her head "You have to be crazy to think of invading Ziost."
"Not invade." He pointed out "We're infiltrating Ziost. I've acquired a shuttle and clearance codes to get through the orbital station. We're going down, splitting into teams to observe the situation and determine a course of action from there. Do not engage. Do not be noticed."
Pieces felled into place. The Revanites tried to coordinate a battle between the Empire and the Republic to pick of the stragglers of the battle. This was bigger than them now.
Darth Marr and Master Satele Shan were bringing their forces to Yavin Four to face off against Revan. The Empire and Republic wouldn't agree to this but the two of them had enough forces to stand a chance. This was all to stop Revan from brining the Emperor back from the dead in order to kill him. No, Sinnam didn't understand how that worked at all either.
It left just the five of them, Theron, Lana, Seked, Aric and Sinnam, in the safe house cleaning up their tracks. Jakarro already left to prep his ship as did Havoc and Seked's team.
Everyone was a mixture of tense and relieved. Lana found the words for it "The conspiracy is finally exposed. We've been hiding our actions from our allies for so long... it's a relief to have everything in the open."
Theron looked back to her from the terminal he was wiping "So we can talk about how you threw me to the wolves after throwing Sinnam in didn't work?"
The comment riled Aric up "What?"
Lana turned to Sinnam quickly to defend herself. "I made a calculated strategic decision and it worked, as we can all see now?"
One thing Sinnam hadn't considered from being on the run was just how much down time and waiting there was. It's only been a few days. They had to ditch the safe house on Tatooine far sooner than they expected because someone had spotted Jakarro in the market. They needed to be more careful about hiding a wookiee.
Their next stop was Ryloth. They were hiding out in the barn of a friend of Theron's outside the city.
Lana was out getting supplies and Jakarro was hiding the ship. Sinnam and Theron hadn't had a minute between the two of them without others watching since this started. "You okay?" Sinnam asked as they rolled out bedrolls.
Theron nodded "Yeah." He answered shortly "You?"
She shrugged "Done a lot in my life, nothing quite like this."
He paused a moment "I've never been on the run when with a Sith, a wookiee and a droid before but I've done this before in general. We stick together, we'll make it through this."
Sinnam didn't looked back to him. "Right. Stick together with people looking to stab us in the back."
A sigh left Theron. "She's put herself on the line just as much as we have. I'm not saying trust her, but we can't pick and choice right now."
"I'll work with her." She said with a tension in her voice.
There was a very specific thing with the way she was talking. A trick, intentional or not, that Theron wasn't going to fall for as a highly trained SIS agent. "But are you doing alright?" Theron asked. "Most people don't respond well to having their entire reputation destroyed in a few hours."
Sinnam paused a moment "It's not about me. It's about the mission. I'll be fine."
Theron wasn't certain that was true in this moment but he also wasn't comfortable in pushing for more. "If you need anything..."
She flashed him a small smile "Thanks. And same for you. We're in this together."
Sinnam never did much for herself and neither did Aric. Being married now, after the extravagant proposal and party Aric and her mother organize, Sinnam knew she wanted to do something for him.
Tickets weren't easy to get, and truly she didn't quite know what she was buying. If they were good or not, but she had bought them.
It took a bit of work, but she had managed to get Aric to agree to let her plan their honeymoon. Onderon was a beautiful planet. Iziz was a wonderful city where they rented an apartment near the center of.
They were on a walk through the city and Aric was starting to notice this wasn't just aimless strolling. They were starting to enter a crowd "Where are we going?" He asked
A smile crossed her face "You'll see."
As they got closer, he laughed. He could see the banners on the stadium. "You hate swoop races."
With the court case over and their leave up, Havoc returned to duty. They were in hyperspace on the way to provide security for some Jedi archeologist looking into a Temple that might tell the more about Vitiate.
Sinnam knew it was more than likely to happen this way. It was rare for dates to line up well for them given how unpredictable their schedule was. Planning anything properly romantic was impossible to do in advance. She was just glad Dorne agreed to give her the room for the evening for her and Aric to have a private dinner.
If rations bars made a dinner. They couldn't even drink the bottle of wine they kept on the ship for small dates given that they expected to arrive in four hours.
Aric came into the room with a small box. He placed a kiss on her cheek. "Happy two years married." He handed a box over to her.
She traded him a ration bar for the box. "Aric, I thought we talked about no gifts."
Taking a seat on her bed, he shook his head. "We did talk about it."
Her brow raised. "Then what is this?"
A small laugh left him. "A gift."
She shook her head with a wide smile. "You're impossible."
The trap was set. General Garza had leaked the position through the chip they removed. They said that Havoc was heading towards the Dark Heart for a rescue mission and on they way there they would be resting at a cave. They would be alone and slightly exposed.
There was a curiosity of simply who would show up.
As the sun set, they tucked in for the night. Kevu stayed in first watch. Or at least they made it seem like that.
About an hour in they had movement in the brush.
Kevu grabbed a light and shined it out in the distance, her blaster drawn. Someone was moving out there.
Best way for their trap to work was for them to think she was springing the trap. She walked out of the cave and started to look around the field.
Checking the bush that moved she felt her throat start to close slightly as a pressure built around her neck. Her feet lifted up off the ground as a pair of yellow eyes locked gazes with her. "Major." Lord Drys laughed, throwing her down to the ground.
What They Signed Up For - Chapter 11 - Familial Trust
Summary: Random snips from my brain for the Trooper story about a trooper who grew up on a planet that in the last war was a constant battle ground between the Republic and Empire. She's been fighting the Empire since as soon as she could walk. Semi slow burn for F!trooper x Aric.
~~~
By that evening things were back to normal relatively.
General Garza and a few technicians, including Yuun who was supposed to be taking some time off, have talked quite a bit about how they've figured out how to temporarily prevented this problem. Apparently the type of energy blast that they used required a set up of multiple beacons that bounced energy off each other that could turn their inner ear comms into weapons.
They could adjust the comms to prevent this from happening but they needed to find the prototype used on Ord Mantel before the Empire figured out how to work around their current fix and started producing more weapons. But that was a problem for another day.
The whole team had three days off as long as an emergency didn't come up. Sinnam and Aric were trying a new café opening in the Old Galactic Market the next day.
He found her there waiting for him at a booth. He placed a small kiss on her cheek "Hey you."
She smiled just seeing him "Hey. You're late."
Taking a seat across from her, he let out a nervous laugh. "Yeah. Sorry. Got a bit held up." He set a small box on the table "I meant to have this ready by your birthday but there was a complication with the manufacturer."
A laugh escaped her. "Oh. Thanks. You didn't have to-"
"Open it?"
