his finger first tapped her shoulder from behind, then slid across her shoulders as he leaned down to whisper through a silver smile, “are you enjoying the festivities they’ve thrown for us?” us, a big plural us. and when the purpose of such a ball is nothing more than political, he couldn’t help but feel like he shouldn’t be enjoying the party, but god be damned, it’d be such a waste not to forget himself for a night and enjoy the luxuries presented before them. 

“you know, i can’t help but feel terrible about presenting my brother like some sort of auctioned goods.” tone was laced with a teasing tone, but the worry was there –– even if only by the slightest. henrik knew for nobles like them, where everything came in abundance, marriage was the one thing that wasn’t and that what malvína and him had was quite the stroke of luck and yet –– well, he’s not even going to finish that ine of thought.
