Eyegrid Original

This is a cool swag piece, perfect for any modern art lover. It's all about eyes. Eyes are probably the most important symbolic sensory organ. They can represent clairvoyance, omniscience, and/or a gateway into the soul. Other qualities that eyes are commonly associated with are: intelligence, light, vigilance, moral conscience, and truth. Looking someone in the eye is a western custom of honesty.

In modern art, the use of an eye for depiction and symbolism has become very popular...the All Seeing Eye, representing the eye of God watching over mankind; the Hamsa Eye/Hand, a Middle Eastern Amulet used for protection, bringing its owner happiness, luck, health, and good fortune; the Third Eye, a mystical and esoteric concept referring to an invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight.

In my piece, I have chosen a handful of subjects and composed the piece in a grid like form, with black being the connecting and consistent color within each mini painting. I chose to depict seahorses, a frog, a seal, a zebra, a cat, Twiggy (the 60s fashion model), a couple of fashion model's showing off makeup and feather eyelashes, and at the center of it all, the retina.
