So much is being said about COVID-19 and we dog mums are naturally concerned about our furry kids! Is it harmful? Can they be infected? Don’t worry the fellow dog mamas at Gals Best Friends have chatted with NYC’s best vet, Dr. Lisa Lippman. And here I’m sharing what we know to date. ⠀⠀ 
The COVID-19 virus can potentially hang out on the dog the way it can live on any surface such as a table. We don’t believe that dogs can get it and transmit it to other dogs. And here is no evidence right now that that you can transmit it to your dog either. But if you have COVID-19 or your dog has been around any infected person, as of right now, as a precaution you should quarantine your dog with yourself for the recommended 14 days.

Of course always remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, use hand sanitizer and have extra supplies on hand for a month or so of dog food and and any required pet medications. Also please be responsible. Do not travel anywhere with your furry kid especially, unless absolutely necessary and avoid crowded places. 

Finally do not panic! If we follow basic hygiene procedures and take some extra precautions, we can beat this! Now there’s no better time to use the excuse “Sorry I can’t. I have plans with my dog”.
