Criminal Minds: Evolution

Here we go! Some thoughts on 16x1 & 16x2 (spoilers, obvi):

I like it! Cried twice in 16x1 (Emily telling Rossi that what he's doing isn't working, and Rossi telling the girl about Krystall's death).

It doesn't sound like she died of COVID, or by an unsub. Cancer, maybe?

I kinda thought I wouldn't like the one-unsub-across-a-season thing. Like, the Foyet, Mr. Scratch, & Lynch story arcs were annoying? Anyway, I'm liking what they're doing so far, so that's a plus.

The unsub (Voit) vaguely looks like a guy I like and that's...alarming.

Paget Brewster is stunning & makes me want to stop dying my roots. I hope we get some of Emily's backstory for the last 3 years soon.

No Luke/Penelope, but I like where it's at & where it's (hopefully) going. I'm going to go ahead & headcanon that Pen became his de facto dogsitter during the pandemic. You know, as a treat.

That triumphant music when she opens the door to him in 16x1 though 😂

Oh, Baby Girl. You are standing up for yourself and living your best life. I love you. I want to be you so, so badly.

Luke's little wiggle-dance from the trailer is delightful, but I also thoroughly enjoyed him drumming his hands on the table afterward. Like a little kid too excited to sit still.

Ended up THOROUGHLY disappointed when 16x2 ended. I haven't had to not binge-watch a new-to-me show since The Good Place ended and I am not known for my patience, lol.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, 'cause I've only watched it once so far.

Penelope's role back at the BAU is a little up in the air, yes? I'm thinking she'll end up a consultant of sorts, getting involved in only some cases (or only to some extent) while maybe training the Remote Garcias to bring them up to snuff. That way she can continue her other job(s?) and her interactions with the rest of the cast can include more personal time. KV did say that she's not as alone as much in front of the computer screens this time around...

With how the content is a little darker, I'd love her to continue being the bright spots of each episode to lighten the mood. I just really, really want to see her living her best life ❤️❤️

Ok. I get that it's mostly a 'for-the-laughs' mini-scene, but in the Dirty Dozen arc when Penelope is making a list of things she needs from home, then crosses them out bc Anderson will be the one picking them up?

What could she possibly be comfortable enough asking Hotch to get from her apartment, yet simultaneously humiliated knowing Anderson -- who she's worked with for over a decade, probably more closely than anyone else on the team due to her home base at Quan-tee-co -- would be the one to pick up? I'm baffled, folks.

UGH, please don't make me ship Penelope & Tyler Green. That said...the kitten thing was kinda cute. Particularly him holding it at the table while she was doing her thing (and it PURRING).

On an unrelated note, WTF Aunt Zelda?!

And I'm counting "Someone Mentions Emily's Hair Color" for BINGO, despite that someone being Emily herself. My Garvez card was apparently nothing much more than wishful thinking 😩
