I think that the scene in this episode was too little considered. Probably was made just for the funny side, but I always saw more.

Penelope is discussing about Tara brother with Emily, then JJ and Spencer join them, and the latter informs her that Tara told to the rest of BAU about her brother when she joined the team. Then Rossi and Luke arrive. He makes Penelope discover immediately that he also knows about Tara brother. It was a random phrase? I don't think so, considering what he will do later, soon.

Anyway, Penelope seems really offended that Luke was also part of this.

And he knows that it would piss her off. Look at his expression here. So similar to his usual smug face.

She doesn't try to hide her feel. She says "Come on, the new guy? He knows? How come I was the last one to know?”. Spencer answers that Garcia was the last to know, because it was an experiment, to see how long she could take for herself the "secret". She did 12.

Here we can see that JJ notices there is something going on.

Penelope looks really sad, here. But she turns on him, even before he speaks.

Luke says, with pride "Damn. I had you down for 6". Emily knows that is a bad shot. Rossi is like "Young people, pff".

Penelope gets really angry, telling them she thought they were her friends, but they suck, "especially you, New Guy, but then you always suck".

Here finally Luke understands that there is a downside for his joke.

He will take a moment to recover.

Now, I already said my opinion on this scene in many occasions and posts. Penelope and Luke, before it, were going on the friends street, thank to Roxy existence, because she became sweeter after she discovered he has a dog. She gave him gifts. Ok, she also flirted and teased him, meanwhile, but, in my opinion, she was trying to accept him as team member and maybe maybe maybe friend. But she didn't want to, so she took the first chance to step back, and Luke served it on a silver platter.

He choosen the team over her (friendship). He sided with them. That was his "mistake" in her eyes, for me.
