পথ্য ও আনুষঙ্গিক ব্যবস্থা

১। জুরের গতি বেশী (High Fever] হইলে মাথায় প্রচুর ঠাণ্ডা পানি ঢালিতে হইবে, তবে বরফের পটি নিতে পারিলে ভাল ।

২। রােগীকে পূর্ণ বিশ্রামে রাখিতে হইবে ও গলার খুশখুশনি থাকিলে উষ্ণ পানির সহিত লবণ মিশাইয়া গড়গড়া করিবে ।

৪ গাকিলে বা নাকে মোটা ঔধ ৯ নং বাবহার করিলে বা Mutlol (মেল) বা 'T'r. Bnail (খ)-( বেননি -কো) এ নাম্প নাক মুখ দিয়া টানিকে।

৫ লবণ মিশ্রিত গরম পানি দিয়ে দিনে ২ বার পাগলি করিবে।

৬। রােগীকে লেবু সরবৎ, ও প্রচুর পানি পান করিতে হইবে.

Naphcon A

Ingredient: Pheniramine maleate and naphazoline hydrochloride.

Dosage Form:

Drops: Pheniramine maleate 0.3% and naphazoline HCl 0.025%.

FDA Indication/Dosages:

For the temporary relief of redness and itching of the eye due to ragweed, pollen, and animal hair: Instill 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) up to 4 times a day. Wash hands and remove contact lenses prior to use.

To instill drops: Lie down or tilt head backwards and look up. Pull down the skin under the eye creating a small “sac” of the lower eyelid. Instill drops into the sac and keep the eye open for a few seconds. To avoid contamination of the solution, do not touch the end of the dropper to any surface. Discard 3 months after opening or if solution becomes colored or cloudy.

Pharmacology: Pheniramine maleate is an antihistamine which blocks histamine at H1 receptors. It causes prevention of histamine-mediated reactions such as watery eyes. Naphazoline HCl is an α-adrenergic sympathomimetic which effectively causes vasoconstriction of conjunctival blood vessels. This vasoconstriction results in decongestion and relief of minor eye irritations including redness.

Evaluation: Certain irritants and allergens can cause vasodilation and histamine release in the eye. Some common irritants include smoke and dust. Common allergens include pollen, mold, and animal hair. Pain, blurred vision or pus formation (infection) are symptoms of a more serious condition, and the patient should be examined by a physician. If the patient has a foreign body in the eye, removal of the body along with irrigation and treatment with a topical decongestant is indicated. If the body is difficult to remove or caused laceration of the corneal surface, a physician should be consulted. Styes are mild infections of an eyelash follicle or sweat gland and are usually self-limiting. Application of a moderately warm compress 3-4 times a day will help the stye to a head.

Contraindications/Precautions: Antihistamines may aggravate narrow angle glaucoma. Systemic absorption is minor but may still occur. Use caution in patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, and difficulty in urination. Extended use of ophthalmic decongestants may cause rebound redness of the eye.

Adverse Effects: May cause mild stinging.

Patient Consultation:

Consult a physician if the condition is not improved within 72 hours or becomes worse.

Consult a physician if you experience eye pain, changes in vision, or eye irritation.

Remove contact lenses prior to use.

Wash hands prior to application.
