can you talk a bit about fallen earth? i was looking at it on steam and it has some really terrible reviews but u seem to like it a lot and id like to know why

every building in the background of this shot is an integrated interior with environmental storytelling. several of them might have bunkers or caves or something under them. maybe hours of caves. this is one of 30ish towns in the tutorial zone alone. its size and scrappy appeal cannot be overstated

mmos are actually bullshit for anything but survival RP and walking sim appeal. like any product from its time and place, it is frustrating and tediously slow by any reasonable standard, but the depth and novelty of its systems sets it apart

it's one of only a few MMOs ive played that tried to make me feel small, rather than trying to make me feel important. it's not somehow talking down to me, or bullshitting me, or ushering me out of dark corners towards the next overanimated npc. it's a free, gigantic, slow-paced, exploration-based low-postapoc mmo. it's not a flashy cardboard facade propping up a market-friendly tour of such a concept.

it is what it says it is on the tin. it's immersive and vast, but you'd need to have a specific attitude and a lot of free time to get anything out of it.

In another world, at another time, Severus Snape overhears a prophecy that he shouldn’t have. His actions would lead the wizarding war through one more war. Lead a boy too young to face the threat of death and loss. Lead the innocent and the guilty through paths already chosen… already destined for them.

In this world, Severus Snape never overheard a prophecy, never whispered the half spoken words to the Dark Lord, never witnessed the destruction of a family, or died in the boathouse at Hogwarts. In this world, Voldemort is mortal. There are no prophecies, no horcruxes, no boy who lived. There is only him and a wand.

Voldemort still desires utmost control if wizarding Britain with plans to expand once the Ministry has fallen and he is successful in placing his own people in place. The Order of the Phoenix still gathers to combat Voldemort and his Death Eaters. The Ministry still condemns both groups, deeming one domestic terrorists and the other a vigilante group. It’s October 31, 1981 the wizarding world is on the brink of war.

Voldemort is not defeated by a toddler. No, he is betrayed. Not by the wizards and witches who follow him but by the magical beings aligned with him for the purpose of being seen, being heard. What better way to be heard than by ridding the wizarding world of one dark wizard? Why stop at one wizard?

Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix have far more to worry about than themselves. Werewolves, vampires, and other creatures rise from the shadows to make themselves known. A new faction is grown, honed to do what Voldemort couldn’t, to protect those the Order couldn’t, and to lead those the Ministry failed. Wizards and witches have to adapt or fight back.

All it takes is one spell. One spell to change it all. One spell to plunge the wizarding world into chaos. One spell to reveal secrets and truths hidden in time.

The question is: Whose side do you choose?

In the wake of an apocalypse, Panem emerged, ruled by the Capitol in control of thirteen districts. The Dark Days, marked by a rebellious uprising from the districts, led to the brutal Hunger Games – a deadly annual pageant that served as a reminder of war and kept the districts in check. The Capitol’s dominance persisted for 170 years until a new rebellion emerged, creating a secret haven called Soteria. The Capitol quelled the uprising, but many rebels escaped in the turmoil. District Thirteen, having led the latest uprising received the brunt of the punishment as families and friends were torn apart and redistributed throughout the nation. To further crush the spirits of district citizens, the Capitol declared the Hunger Games a bi-annual affair, now occurring in both the spring and the fall. Despite everything, the resistance persists. Tensions remain high across Panem, and while Soteria remains blanketed in obscurity, whispers of the name creep through the shadows among the hopeful and the bitter alike. Will freedom from the tight grip of the Capitol allow the Soterians to find a way to end this conflict once and for all? Will the Capitol and its forces find and eliminate their enemies? Only time will tell as the citizens of Panem seek their place between Silence and Salvation. Silence & Salvation is a Jcink, 3/3/3, age 18+ member-driven community.
