As exhausting as the journey was, the view from the top is nothing short of spectacular. All alone at what feels like the top of the world, the sensation that they're the last four surviving members of humanity is both eerie and exhilarating. If any moment is ripe for a grand gesture, it's this one, so Rahul takes advantage of the opportunity to ask Ami to marry him. For a thrillseeker like her, nothing could be more romantic than a mountaintop proposal, and she wastes no time saying yes.

The next morning, they meet Ami, who lives just down the street from their rental. They invite her in for hot pot, she offers up some local insight, and Rahul is instantly smitten. He plays it just cool enough to snag her number before she leaves.

Before night falls, the trio is able to spend some time soaking up the sights on one of Senbamachi's scenic hiking trails. Even though they've explored only one small corner of Mt. Komorebi, they're already rendered speechless by the views!

On their way back to their rental, they cut through the bamboo forest and bump into some ghostly little friends. Having encountered strange creatures of the supernatural variety before, Rowan and Rav aren't especially caught off-guard, though they're sure to greet the spirits respectfully lest they abruptly turn into fire-spewing demons.

After all that physical exertion, some serious rest and relaxation is in order. The trio find a nearby dojo, where they take a good long soak in the onsen to relieve their aching muscles. Rav suggests a round of light yoga afterward, but Rahul is more interested in practicing sparring as a way to vent his frustration at wasting an entire day off the slopes.
The lot used here is Hādowāku Dojo by @shysimblr!

Rowan and Rav's relationship status has been a little up in the air over the past year. Turns out all it took to accelerate their romance was Rav being irresistibly adorable at a music festival. I imagine Rowan fell in love at the precise moment she shoved that entire cupcake in her mouth frosting first.

While Ami's laid back approach boosts newbie climbers Rowan and Alejandro's confidence, Rahul immediately falling flat on his face has the opposite effect. However, it would be pretty embarrassing if they backed out before even attempting the first climb, so they make the ascent one slow step at a time. Finally, they all make it to the top. At least the long hike through the snow to the next hunk of rock rudely blocking their way will give them an opportunity to "rest."

In the morning, Enji isn't feeling much better. He's not as young and spry as he used to be, and even with all that training, he just doesn't feel confident that he'll be able to keep up. Rahul and Ami attempt to pump him up, but it's clear he's set in his decision. So that leaves the four of them to pack up their gear and head to Yukimatsu without him, where the first cliff face awaits, only slightly imposing compared to what's to come.

Mt. Komorebi, we meet again! Ami is so enthusiastic about their mountain trek that, at first, Rowan does her best to match her enthusiasm. But Alejandro and Enji's visible nerves prove infectious, and all three of them grow more and more anxious as the day progresses, bringing them closer to morning and the start of their treacherous journey. Hoping to boost their spirits, Ami leads them on a hike to the cave shrine and appeals to whatever spirits may be in residence to grant them a safe trip.

In Wakaba, Rav meets Yamachan and instantly becomes obsessed, so Rowan risks life and limb to wrangle a Simmi capsule from the depths of the vending machine on the off chance it's a rare golden edition of the icon himself.

The sky clears, and it's over the cliff face and through the woods once more! As sunset approaches, the group stops long enough to start a fire and contemplate setting up camp so that they can rest, restore their strength, and tackle the final ascent in the morning. But Ami is ready and raring to go. She and Rahul barrel ahead, and Rowan and Alejandro feel obligated to follow. By the time they huff and puff their way to the top, their bones feel like jelly.

At the top of the next big cliff, conditions start to look awfully blizzardy. They decide to stop for a while and shake off the nervy adrenaline with an impromptu snowball fight while waiting for visibility to improve. Everybody has fun ganging up on Rahul, and it starts to feel just like old times.

Rahul already feels confident enough to attempt the expert level slope. After landing a few risky landings, he grows a little too sure of himself and ends up having a nasty wipeout. Rowan and Rav come quickly to the rescue, but luckily, other than having to dust the snow from his jacket, he appears to be fine.

Rahul proves to be a natural, feeling ready to tackle the more difficult inclines by the end of the day. Meanwhile, Rav and Rowan pack it in early and spend the rest of the night canoodling. They aren't exactly thrilled at the prospect of doing this all over again tomorrow, but they try to contain their misery in the face of Rahul's enthusiasm.

When Ami offers to play tour guide for their last day in Mt. Komorebi, Rowan and Rav are worried she'll drag them along on some crazy excursion to the very top of the mountain. Luckily, her plans are a bit more laid back than that, and she ends up leading them down an only mildly treacherous hiking trail to a historic shrine, where they take turns shouting their wishes into the echoing depths of the cave.
