Rindo Out of Juvie HCs
Yandere BFF Rindo
Masterlist
Recommended Readings: Yan BFF Rindo HCs ; In Juvie HCs
A/N: I did say September but in my defense its only one day off and it wouldn't be if Sep had 31 days... Also I have a Ko-Fi store now to sell off my excess merch! :) as usual, its super late now, will edit any errors and more info on shop tmr!
Tumblr media
the day Rindo walked free from juvie was easily the best day of his life by a long mile
this baby boy have been counting down every day till his release day
having you check in with him just once or twice a week (with Ran's help, much to Rindo's distaste) pales in comparison with him being able to check in on you any time he wants to, which is generally multiple times a day
have kept notes on everything that you tell him (and that he drills you on), frantically scribbles down whatever he can remember after every meeting you have with him either on notebooks that you bring him
even made Ran do the same as well after every meeting you held with the older Haitani, much to the amusement of his older brother
visitation time was hardly long enough to drill you about everything and anything
reviews the information again and again to make sure he doesn't miss anything
and if he did, he could question you at the next visitation session
being separate from you after becoming your bestfriend and having to trust you to take care of yourself (the horror!!) was the worst part of juvie if you asked him
or second worse rather
the absolute worse being having to sit by and watch everyone else from the newly-formed Tenjiku (all threats) leave before him - the dread settling in his stomach every time they disappear behind the external walls of juvie before Rindo can go out and protect you from them that is
even if the Tenjiku executives didn't know about you now, they sure would sooner or later
they were all the worst kind of delinquents (him not included though cough)
and you were the stupidest, most naive, and blurrest person alive in his eyes
you would probably trust a stranger holding a knife to your neck if he said to, not to say Izana who had already helped you previously
plus the fact that Kakucho had been regaling you with the tales and adventures of him and Izana, which is as good as brainwashing with you
didn't help that Izana's release date was a week or so before Rindo's, which the boy absolutely knew Izana would use the opportunity to meet you alone against his pleas
okay maybe not pleas - Rindo didn't 'plea' with anyone, not even for you (maybe with you though) - but definitely not threats, not with the ease that Izana could beat his and Ran's ass
but the Tenjiku leader had been oddly fascinated with you ever since Rindo had very hesitantly begged for help to take care of you while he was in juvie
and he didn't trust that white-haired boy as far as he could throw him
they were going to eat you alive without your bestfriend there to watch over you, Rindo just knew it
the closer the Haitaini brothers' release date came, the more angsty and irritable Rindo became - you were so close yet so far away
Ran even let Rindo go first in the outward processing queue so that he could get out just that bit earlier and stop with that amusing anxiety tap dance routine
he knew his younger brother well
Rindo nearly ran you down with how fast he was racing out to meet you outside the day he was released
of course you would be outside waiting for him, but this boy wouldn't tell you how relieved he was to see you still alive
did boink you on the head when you were a bit too happy to see Ran as well
you even remembered to bring him a clean set of clothes and his favorite snacks like he had requested
that's good news, means you're still listening to him
hopefully that also meant that you had been listening to him telling you not to talk to anyone more than necessary, and that applied especially to Kakucho and Izana
drags you straight back to his house, because as far as this boy was concerned, you ain't ever leaving his sight again
yes, maybe bathroom matters, but he was going to sit outside and call to you every few minutes just to make sure you were okay
sit tight, because Rindo is going over every last bit of detail in his notebook with you, like those parts involving you interacting with any outside of him and Ran
but especially about any time you spent with Izana
or at least he tries to, sternly telling you to concentrate on answering the questions he's asking, but you don't seem as serious about the topic as he is, more ecstatic about having your bestfriend back
asked him about what juvie was like on the inside, what kind of food he ate, whether there were stores inside that he could buy things at, whether he made any new friends
the last part had Rindo stare bewildered at you for a bit - did you think juvie was some sort of childcare center?
his interrogation session somehow turned into a homework session where he helped you through the last few topics you had been struggling with
only realized later when you had fallen asleep at the table, but all Rindo could do know was sigh and carry you up to bed and tuck you in
didn't want you to catch a cold or wake up with a dead arm
at least he managed to go through all your papers, books and files and look for any signs of written correspondence that you failed to get round to telling him about
because this boy knew you well - if you didn't tell him about you being penpals with someone while he was in juvie, its about a thousand times more likely that you simply forgot about it or got distracted by another talking point rather than you trying to hide information from him
decided to call it a day as well - Rindo was exhausted from the rollercoaster of emotions he had on top of dealing with being released from juvie in just one day
would never admit to it, but decides to snuggle in with you for the night since he hadn't the time to prepare another bed for you and you were currently snoozing away
wakes up before you but gets caught by Ran anyway, fiercely denies anything and everything before Ran could even ask
the older Haitani knew better though
this baby boy even followed you all the way to class the next day, though he did get particularly irate when people stared openly at you (more like the reappearance of him)
regular beatings will resume until behavior improves
Rindo also arranges to meet with and thank Kakucho, who had been watching out of you all this time, for his help
arranges it at night well after you had fallen asleep and he had triple checked that his bedroom door was locked (Ran was asleep, and Rindo didn't want to risk you wandering off and getting into who knows what kind of trouble)
Rindo did ask you several times about Izana and what he wanted with you, but as usual, you didn't have the answers he were looking for
apparently Izana only wanted to hear about you and Rindo, and asked you to tell him about the relationship the two of you had
and that sounded alright to Rindo at the beginning, but the more he prodded your accounts of your meetings and the details that slowly leaked out, the more his unease grew
he was sure there was more to this then surface level curiosity, given Izana went to all the trouble to arrange for a bodyguard for you
but from your side, you could only tell him what you knew, and not any deeper analysis
takes the opportunity to have a chat with the Kakucho to try and find out if he tried to talk you into doing things Rindo didn't approve of, and if he knew what Izana wanted with you
your bestfriend quickly realized that he had no beef with Kakucho though - he was a very respectful boy who kept you at an arm's length even while he followed you pretty much everywhere
Kakucho refused to divulge anything that happened between you and Izana, only confirming that the meeting did happen
which Rindo could respect, given Izana was Kakucho's (and his) boss and good friend but still
and then the more worrying signs started to appear
you started to sneak away during the time when you should have been class, when you knew Rindo wasn't looking out for you
or at least you thought that Rindo wasn't watching, but he was - be it directly or indirectly with Ran's and a few more coerced classmates help
secretly followed you one of those days, only to find out that you weren't going far - you were just headed up to the roof of the school building to take a call
but when confronted about your little excursions, you tried to lie to him
keyword being tried, since you failed spectacularly at too - instead of telling the lie (that was most likely fed you) about who you were calling, you told Rindo it was a salesperson calling, immediately followed by telling him that Izana was asking you to skip out to meet him before you slapped your mouth
he could have facepalmed
and you were also still too naive, spilling everything Izana had asked you to do when Rindo asked, despite you saying that you were supposed to keep it a secret
the younger Haitani felt faint when you said Izana had held your hand before, but at least the tiniest bit of relief came when you told him that he didn't do any more than that
your phone was confiscated by Rindo on the spot for an indefinite period of time - you could still use it for very limited amounts of time every day, but only when closely supervised by him and never alone
and you were moved into his bedroom for the forseeable future until he could determine just how bad the situation was
you thought you were having a long sleepover, and Rindo didn't correct you
you weren't allowed to leave his room without him there, let alone the house
not even to school - there was no way Rindo would risk that now
made sure to punish you for trying to lie to him though - no late night snacks for a week
and he wasn't going to walk you to the bathroom at night no matter how scared you were
okay he will if you're scared
wanted to do something worse such as whipping your hands, but the thought of you crying was too much for him to bear
instead, Rindo took his anger out on your poor classmates and random rival delinquents he found around Roppongi again
breaking bones especially viciously and pummeling anyone that pissed him off even slightly
and of course brought you along to watch - Rindo wasn't going to leave you alone at home by yourself and hearing you cheer for him like you always did before juvie helped him feel better
he didn't know too much at the moment - how much for Izana's bidding have you been doing behind his back?
were you listening to Izana over him, your bestfriend?
reluctantly asked Ran for advice, but for the first time, even his older brother had nothing for him
just reminded Rindo to keep out of the way of Izana, and that even the two of them couldn't beat the Tenjiku boss
and that was before you very proudly told him that you had "cheated" on your test because Izana had asked you to
though your cheating was more rolling a dice then actual cheating
but what if he started asking you to do more serious things? and why were you even listening to what Izana asked you to do?
you should only be listening to him - Rindo, your first and bestfriend
Izana wasn't your friend, no one else was, and he reminded you of that frequently, though his words seem to flow over you like water, as it always did
Izana' influence was starting to seep into every aspect of your life, infecting you like a virus, and Rindo was a very unhappy boy
he just wanted to go back to like how life was before juvie, was that impossible?
‎‎
Rindo could feel the beginnings of a headache starting to throb in the front of his mind. Letting out a groan, your bestfriend proceeded to repeatedly banged his head into the table of your favorite cafe as you watch on owlishly, carefully sipping away at your hot tea. It baffled him that you could just sit there and pretend everything was all right when nothing was - everything in his world and yours was clearly wrong. How did you not see this?
But then again, Rindo comforted himself as he finally pulled himself upright once more, you were you. Hand grasping at his own iced drink and taking a long gulp, the blond-and-blue haired boy begin to speak again. It had been a week since he was freed from that awful juvenile detention center where he was locked away from you, yet he still couldn't quite understand. "Start from the top again. How long have you been writing to Izana?"
Ran had already long wandered off somewhere after a filling lunch, uninterested in hearing Rindo grill you about the same question for the umpteenth time.
"Since he sent that letter to Kakucho," you blurted out, nearly spilling the tea on yourself.
"Put that down before you hurt yourself again," Rindo chided. "How many times did you write to him?"
You carefully set your cup back down on the table. "Once a week, that's what Kakucho told me to do! He never wrote back though."
That meant that he was most likely using your letters as a report or test of some kind, the younger Haitani concluded as he jotted the new information down mentally, recalling the sudden increase in letters that Izana received after sending out that initial letter to Kakucho. Were your letters included in those as well? But then again, letters were so much more benign compared to the problem he had on hand. "Alright. How many times has Izana called to talk to you?"
He watched as you counted out the times on your fingers, before holding it up to show him. "About five times!"
"And how many times have you met him?"
Your gaze dropped almost immediately, your hand coming up to scratch sheepishly at the nape of your neck. "Ahh..."
"And you can't lie to me," the blond-and-blue haired boy interrupted before you could begin. This had to be one of those topics that Izana told you to keep from him, but Rindo needed to know. "You can lie to everyone else except me, you understand?"
You nodded furiously. "I met him about three times," you replied sincerely, as you leaned forward to whisper, though it seemed that lowering your voice did little to keep your words from being overheard.
"Is there a problem with that?" Murmured that absolutely abhorrent voice that Rindo had grown to despise yet couldn't help respect from behind him, the boy whirling around only for his eyes to confirm his worst nightmare.
"Izzy!" You perked up, waving at him. Izzy?! Your bestfriend felt like hurling - it was quite the task just to keep his face stern and stop himself from collapsing straight into despair right there and then. How much had he missed? How did Izana know they were here?
But the Tenjiku boss barely acknowledged Rindo's presence, instead moving to take the chair to the right of you, pressing a familiar red jacket into your arms. "A gift for you."
And the boy instantly recognized that. "Absolutely not!" You were not going to own a Tenjiku gang jacket, and you were definitely not going to wear one. No way in hell.
"And what are you going to do about it?"
Rindo rustled as Izana threw one arm carelessly around you, smugly quirking one eyebrow back at him, armed with the full knowledge the younger Haitani brother could do little against him. But you shook off Izana's arm, turning to lightly slap his shoulder instead. "Izzy! Don't bully Rindo!"
But before said Haitani even had time to pale (did you even know what you had done??), your attention was drawn away by the entrance of yet another Tenjiku executive, this one a lot more familiar to your irate yet anxious bestfriend. "Kakucho! Come come, sit here!" You patted the chair next to you, which the black-haired boy obliged.
"Izana, Rindo," Kakucho greeted, as he slipped into the creaky wooden chair, careful to avoid clipping your arm.
"Are you still not feeling well?" You questioned, raising one hand to press against the other's completely reddened face, to which Kakucho quickly dodged from, throwing both hands up in surrender. Was he...blushing?
"Oh no you don't. Don't you even dare to think about it," Rindo hissed, making to stand. So this shit he thought was on your side, watching out for you in his stead, was a two-faced traitor. His day was getting bad to worse, and there was no sign of relief at the end of the tunnel.
Kakucho only looked bewildered at the reaction, seemingly understanding what he was saying but not why, instead turning to throw Izana a look that Rindo knew well. Weren't you Izana's girl?
"It seems me and Rindo have quite a bit to catch up on," Izana announced, reaching into his pocket to pull out a few notes to pass you. "Why not you and Kakucho go get some ice cream? It'll make him feel better."
Leaping to your feet excitedly at the thought of the sweet treat, you paused, turning your doe eyes on Izana. "Don't hurt Rindo," you reminded the white-haired boy, as if you held any power over him, before you yanked Kakucho to his feet. "Come on, let's go!"
"A companion for Kakucho for one. And an experiment." Izana admitted, those unblinking eyes of his trailing you as you all but dragged Kakucho out the door of the cafe by his hand, eagerly chattering about god-knows-what to a burning Kakucho, that red jacket tucked neatly under one arm. Rindo kept silent, willing the tanned boy to continue.
And mercifully, he did, leaning back in his chair as he started to speak again, turning that wretched gaze on him. From Rindo's initial request, Izana had deduced that you were an innocent thing: a bunny in a wolf's world. A new plaything for him that he wanted to experiment on - would you listen to the instructions from a complete stranger? How far would you go for him? Could he make you do things against your will?
But you were such a cute thing, so pliable to his words and so obedient, yet so resistant when it came to Rindo. You would never do anything to hurt Rindo. "But my cute little Kakucho fell first it seemed," Izana finally looked away. "I suppose I could share."
Rindo took the breath he didn't know he had been holding, slumping back into his seat as the pressure left his shoulders. "And is that the truth?"
Izana shrugged, picking up your once-hot cup of tea and downing the remaining tea before standing. "I'll be round tonight. Make sure your door's unlocked." To pick you up. It wasn't a request.
Rindo sank his face into his hands as soon as the other departed. What the fuck did you get yourself into? What the fuck was he going to do now?

A Most Unwelcomed Guest
Yandere BFF Rindo
Happy Birthday to Rindo!! ❤ i know i forgot several of my poor baby boys, will be getting back to them soon!
Yan BFF Rindo List | Birthday Fics List | Masterlist
Tumblr media
Rindo had just barely stopped the laughter from slipping his lips, and he already felt the next one bubbling up - he swore the moment he tried to speak, it would be his signature stoic facade that breaks. You were holding his present upside down.
But you didn't seem to notice the predicament your bestfriend was in, instead insistently shaking the neatly wrapped box at him. "Happy Birthday Rindo!" You repeated yet again, as if the only reason he hadn't move to take the box from you was that he hadn't heard you. "Happy Birthday!"
His lips twitched upwards; if you had been anyone else but his dearest friend, Rindo had no doubt he would have already whacked you over your head with a brick for being so insufferable. But then again, you were you. "I got it you egghead, I got it," he sighed out, moving to grab the present from you, though you didn't even notice when Rindo very deliberately flipped the box back up the right way. Hopefully the rustle of paper and ribbon combined the general background noise had managed to cover the small chuckle he couldn't quite repress.
Your favourite cafe was fairly busy at this time of the day, bustling with students hanging around after a long day at school and the occasional office worker shuffling in for their afternoon coffee and cake. But that didn't stop you from trying to sing him a birthday song regardless, the small slice of cake you had bought from the counter for him - strawberry, you remembered his favourite - lit with a single candle.
And you had clapped and cheered when he had blown out his candle - not just a candle, his candle. After months spent locked away in juvie and away from you, having you back by his side where he could care for and watch over you as and how he liked was like being able to breathe oxygen again. With Ran promising to be on the lookout today for any of the no no people, the younger Haitani felt at ease sharing his special day with you. His morning split between sharing a seat with you while you were attending classes (not cuddling, absolutely not), and catching up on his beatings of your classmates and schoolmates, Rindo was confident he could declare today as the best day of his life.
Until a second present was dropped into his lap. Rindo looked up. Any amusement he had been feeling, the joy of the past several hours - every good emotion instantly evaporated.
"Happy Birthday Rindo," Kakucho coughed out, wretched sole working eye meeting his gaze for a mere moment in a farce of sincerity before immediately sliding to land on you instead, the other's face instantly ignited once more in a sea of red as you blinked owly at him. "H-hey."
Where was Ran? Wasn't he supposed to be on the look out for unwanteds? Why didn't the older Haitaini do what he promised to do? At least this time you looked genuinely surprised by Kakucho's appearance, cocking your head to one side for a moment as you processed his presence, but still nonetheless excited. Rindo bristled as your look of confusion gave way to excitement. "Kaku! What're you doing here?"
From the depths of the Tenjiku second-in-command's pockets came another smaller box, his flush seeming to only deepen. "Um... this is for yo-"
Rindo rocketed from his seat, leaning over to pluck the box out from Kakucho's outstretched hand. "Thank you," Rindo blurted out before sitting once more, Kakucho staring at him like a gaping fish as he put the newly acquired box with the rest of his presents. Ran was so going to kill him.
"Are you being mean to Kakucho again, Rindo?" Oh god fucking damn it. How did this scumbag keep finding them?
Robotically, the blond and blue-haired boy turned to meet those annoying yet spine-chilling set of unblinking violet eyes framed by long white lashes. Truly, asking him for help while he was in juvie was the worst decision of his life by far.
Though the Tenjiku boss was barely bothered by the sullen looks thrown his way, instead handing over a package wrapped similarly to Kakucho - Rindo wouldn't be surprised if it was the black-haired boy who had packed both presents. "Happy Birthday."
"Thank you, Izana," he gritted out through his teeth, and it was taking everything in him not to crush the box between his hands right there and then. They were ruining his birthday. And Izana most certainly noticed, a small smirk pulling tauntingly at the corner of his lips.
Yet maybe you did too, catching Rindo off guard when you suddenly exclaimed in a conversation he hadn't managed to follow, having been caught up in his little stare-down with his boss. "Sorry Kaku, I can't hang out with you guys today. It's Rindo's birthday!" As if that explanation meant anything.
But to the younger Haitani's genuine surprise, Kakucho simply nodded, said goodbye, and turned to leave, with Izana throwing in a one-arm hug for good measure. "See you again soon." He whispered to you, before following his friend out the door.
The hum and drum of life in the cafe throbbed along as it always did, the crowd swelling and fading as people flowed by your table. Having already gotten over the surprise visit, you had already settled back down, attacking your own slice of cake with gusto. What the fuck was going on? Turning back to face you and your beaming smile, Rindo pushed the thought out of his mind for the moment, smacking your wandering fork away from his slice of cake.
Happy birthday to him, he supposed.

Most to Least Likely to Crush on You with Yandere Platonic TR Boys HCs
Tumblr media
Kazutora: Probably the first and fastest to develop and acknowledge his crush on you, especially once he comes to realize just how dependent he is on receiving your affection and care. Not an hour goes by after parting ways with you before the thought of basking in your love crosses his mind once more. This baby boy definitely starts to blush and stammer in your presence once he comes to term with his crush, unable to bring himself to ask you out directly. Kazutora can't think of any better person besides you to fall in love with, and he only hopes that you will notice return his love.
Koko: You remind him so much of Akane that he can't help but fall in love all over again. Your gentleness, sincerity and just over all innocence will have him weak at the knees sooner or later, no matter how much he tries to deny it - your kind smile and fond gaze always seems to brighten his world. The moment he realizes, this boy is already planning on how to steal you away for himself. Will be the first to confess his feelings to you, but Koko also knows he'll have to be extra careful and calculative to net this golden prize.
Rindo: That flutter of his heart when you see Rindo for who he is, and not just one of the Haitani brothers or Ran's younger brother, was already a telltale giveaway that he would develop a crush on you one day. Not as quickly as the other two above him of course, but just a few more times of you acknowledging him, treating him like an individual and awarding him his fair share of love, despite Ran being right there next to him, and that's all it take for this usually stoic boy to come crashing down hard. Longs to keep you just for himself, and if you return his love, Rindo would be glad to finally have something he doesn't have to share with his older brother.
Baji: One of your closest friends, of course spending so much time with you, soaking in your love and attention would eventually turn into small little heart flutters, the thought of seeing you again constantly on his mind. Finally realizes that he had a little (okay huge, but he will never admit it) crush on you when his face turns red every time you pull him down into your lap to run your fingers through his hair. Reasons that out of the six founders, Baji would the one that would be able to best care for you, plus the added bonus of he being better able to protect you if you returned his love.
Ran: Your lack of fear of him, your innocence about all the darkness of the world around you, and your fragility would be the first few things Ran noticed upon meeting you. And it'll be the same thing that has this usually sadistic boy tamed and falling for you, that you see him as just Ran, a friend that ever so delicately takes your hand into his and walks you home, rather than one of the brutal Haitaini brothers that rule Roppongi. The love and care that you give out freely also helps better convince Ran that his crush on you is the right one - he'll be able to keep your love and attention all for himself and Rindo, away from the filth of the world.
Pah: Realizes that he has a small crush on you when his face starts to burn a little when you take his hand ever so gently into your own delicate one and walk with him to the arcade. It'll be your acceptance, your understanding and your general willingness to go along with whatever that has this boy falling for you, though it'll take Pah forever just to sort out his feelings about you, with lots of help and yelling from Peh. Very hesitant to make a move though, as he is reluctant to shake up the dynamic of the group.
Draken: Will deny to hell and back that he has a crush on you, his rock solid mastery over his facial expression never giving anything away. This boy is the last, and one of the slowest, to acknowledge that he has a small crush on you. The realization will definitely come to him all of a sudden, maybe during one of the lunches he has alone with you, when he just accepts that he could foresee a future with you by his side. Will never breathe a word about it to you or to anybody else unless you make a move first, but definitely hopes that you will somehow notice and return his love.
Mitsuya: Sees you way too much like a little sister for him to ever consider dating you. The innocence that shine through your eyes when you look at him only invokes protectiveness in his chest, the same feeling that he gets when he looks at his two younger sister, the urge to squirrel you away and keep you safe from the rest of the world only getting stronger. Definitely no crush, but wouldn't say no to cuddling with you and enjoying the bento boxes that you treat him to.
Inupi: Your mannerisms remind him so much of Akane that sometimes he still sees his sister from the corner of his eyes - no way Inupi will ever develop a crush on you just for that sole reason. More than happy to enjoy some tlc from you though, and definitely enjoy having you take care of him like a big sister would, patting his head whenever and cooking for him.
Mikey: Has absolutely no romantic interest in you whatsoever. Of course Mikey loves being pampered and spoiled by you, and always wants to take up as much of your time as he possibly can, but Mikey will never consider pursuing any sort of romance with you. He just isn't interested, but as the years go by, the idea of marrying you does sometimes pop into his head, especially when his jealousy at having to share you with others rear its ugly head. Would definitely be the sort to marry you just to keep you all to himself for good.

How do you think platonic Yandere toman would react to reader meeting the haitani brothers and being friends with them?
this was one of the hardest shorts that i have ever written, no lie. i got stuck on it for so long just thinking about what to write, where to go, and i'm just kinda relief that i'm finally done with this. didn't manage to include the toman boys here, but maybe in another part? written this as a continuation to Leaving You, but more as an addition to that spinoff rather than a part 2. dedicated to this patient anon and also you know who you are ^^
Canon continuation to Leaving You.

Light of Day
Yandere Platonic Toman Boys
Tumblr media
The glint of sunlight that caught the blade of the knife right before it plunged into your flesh was the first time you had made yourself known in their world. From their vantage point seated atop the rotting husks of several scraped cars, the way you fell looked just like a petal dropping free from its flower, your hair tossed up into a momentary halo around your head that glowed and glittered in the sun as you gently crumpled towards the ground, right before you were caught midair by a blond-haired boy. Dressed in neither the black of Toman uniforms nor the white of Valhalla's, the whimper of your name was as if the chime of a bell that resonated across the battlefield, an eerie silence immediately falling upon the pandemonium that reigned the abandoned lot just moments ago.
Under the cruel afternoon sun that unrelentingly bathed the earth in its hellish heat, and the gaze of their cold violet eyes, the lot seemed to almost freeze in time, watching, waiting with bated breaths as you lay panting on the ground, fingers delicately exploring your newly acquired wound. Yet even while clad in just your simple shirt and shorts, the quiet huff of pain that still managed to slip through your tightly clenched teeth was already enough to plunge the momentary peace straight back into absolute chaos. They watched as calls for ambulances rang up and above the ensuing turmoil, as you were ever so carefully let down onto the dirt floor, Baji, the former First Division Toman Captain, immediately getting to work administering first aid with a makeshift bandage torn from his own shirt. And then there was Kazutora, who had only then noticed the splatter of blood, your blood, that had gotten onto his hands, and had all but shut down, shaking gaze locked onto equally trembling hands.
Lest to say, the Haitaini brothers were instantly intrigued. Amidst the clash of giants, your gentle cry had been enough to draw both white and black to your side, ending the fight that had been set to determine the fate of Tokyo. Enough to send a wave of ashen faces rippling through the Toman forces, as they seemingly recognised you, or perhaps just your name, despite your lack of uniform. Enough to send the Invincible Mikey into an absolute fit of rage, striking down Hanma with a single blow to his temple, and then turning those wrath-filled eyes on Kazutora, even as your own eyes slipped shut under the hateful glare of the sun.
Who were you? Ran mused, his uninterested expression never slipping as he watched several of the Toman founders fly into a panic at your sudden lack of response, while others could only watch on dumbfounded as Mikey lashed out at Kazutora for his supposed sins. For dragging you into this world, it seemed, Rindo barely able to make out the accusation roared before the Valhalla third-in-charge was sent flying with a fist to his face, which meant that you belonged to neither Toman nor Valhalla. Then how were you connected? How did a fragile little thing like you wield so much influence having never dipped your toes into the dark?
They could only wonder to themselves, you fighting what they knew to be agonising pain as you struggled onto your side, only to have all your effort be in vain when your legs were knocked out from under you by Draken, and you were forced back down onto your back by Baji, who quickly resumed reinforcing his bandage with yet another strip of his shirt. Yet it was your weak call that stopped Mikey’s rampage in an instant, the boy favouring pattering over to check on you over pummeling your attacker.
But it seemed at this point in time, you were destined to remain an enigma, the wails of the ambulance sirens drawing nearer a warning that their time here was drawing to a close. You did still have one last surprise to give to the two infamous brothers, the soft, comforting mutter of your friend’s name as he pulled you into his lap, one almost too faint to catch from their distance if not for the sudden draft that picked up and floated your voice over. One that sent shivers up their spines for reasons they couldn't discern. Turning back to spare you one last glance, the sight of a retreating Toman, the unexpected victor of the match, was only overcasted by your pale face, now shadowed by Kazutora's, you reaching out to soothe him even when you were the one vulnerable and gasping for air.
Neither brothers were inclined to stay beyond that, the risk of being caught and arrested again outweighing their curiosity, and sight of you and Kazutora quickly disappeared as they rounded the corner of an alley, vanishing into the crowds of Shibuya. Though even with the momentary fascination they had, their memory of you quickly faded with every setting sun, the rays of dying light that signalled the start of their reign over the back alleys of Roppongi stealing any thought of you away. In the dark of night where countless stars dotted the sky, and where only the occasional rays of moonlight peaked through its cover of clouds, the Haitani brothers went about their business, the cries for mercy and the blood and sweat that washed their hands a much more exciting, genuine sensation than whatever lingering thoughts they had about you.
Or so they assumed, right up till you burst back into their world with a vengeance a few weeks later, carrying with you a light that, much like moths to an open flame, they couldn’t help but be drawn to. Once again it was a gentle exhale floated over by the dry draft, above the muted hustle and bustle from the main street, that had caught their attention, one that had them whirling back to find you having appeared seemingly from nowhere, picking your way down the alley where they could have sworn they left no conscious beings.
A far cry from the ashen, unmoving figure that had first caught their attention with a quiet huff, they easily recognised you even though your face was now flushed with life. Though he mused, Ran’s lips quirking up into a lazy smile, the apologies that spilled freely from your lips were amusing, your painfully careful steps across the alley obviously an absolute failure. Shoes clicking against the concrete pavement, it was inevitable that you would step on strewn hands or hair, though you still, for some reason beyond them, made sure to try your best to avoid the fallen men on the ground. Gaze turned towards the floor, you only barely managed to avoid walking straight into them, swirling to the side as soon as their shoes came into your line of sight, the top of your head barely grazing their clothes. Just in time as always, it seemed.
“Oops sorry! Didn’t see you there.” Your eyes finally turning up from the floor, you froze, the black of the other’s clothing instantly seering itself into your mind - the past few days and weeks had more than taught you about needing to avoid other Toman members for their own safety. Though your brain quickly registered that the black garment the two boys wore wasn’t that all too familiar uniform like you had feared, it still took a few seconds for you to recover from the initial scare, before you glanced up, phone held loosely in one hand. “I’m just really lost right now.”
Wide eyes that glimmered with a certain innocence flickered up to meet their violet ones unhesitantly, a brilliant smile, one that seemed to light up even the shadow of the towering buildings around you washing onto your face. You didn’t recognise the supposedly notorious brothers that even civilians tread gingerly around, face lacking the slightest bit of fear as you eagerly examined something about them, your obvious excitement readable with one glance. Did you not notice the broken and bleeding men strewn across the alley, an obvious outcome of their actions? Or did you not care? Either way, he was certain that there was no way you were Valhalla, or even Toman, mused the older of the two, allowing his eyes to roam you as you did him - too innocent, too genuine, too vulnerable. Yet there you had been, almost effortlessly putting an end to the clash between Toman and Valhalla. Not without sacrifice on your part though, the memory of you laying unmoving on the ground one that came roaring back to the front of his mind.
The rustling of garbage bags, and now the groans of pain from the men slowly coming back to consciousness, as a gentle breeze blew down the alley filled the moment of peace. It didn’t manage to offset the heat that still lingered from the blazing afternoon sun, but it was a welcomed relief nonetheless.
“I love both your hairstyles!”
The brothers blinked. That was - unexpected, far from what they might have assumed. But it was easy to tell that you told no lies, one look into your eyes revealing the sincerity and fascination shining through from its depths, even as you quirked your head this way and that. “How do you do your braids so neatly around the bands of color? And I love the alternating blue of yours!”
“Is it okay if I-” You started, the eagerness clear, dainty hand already reaching out towards them, almost as if in a trance. But you were halted before you could reach them, your phone going off with a cheerful chime that had you scrambling to react, delicate fingers flying over the keyboard in a haste. “Oh shit, I’m already late!”
Now with a more frantic look in your doe eyes, you turned back yet again to face them, pointing at something on your small screen. “Sorry to bother, but do you know where this shop is?”
“To the left after you exit at the main street.” Came the mumbled response from Rindo, surprising even himself when the answer had slipped out from his lips.
“Right, thank you!" You hopped a few playful steps past them, before turning back to grin one last sweet smile at them. "You have to teach me someday!"
A quick wave of your hand, your hair streaming behind you as you sped round the corner and disappeared from sight could have been mistaken for the final rays of light from the dying sun sinking below the horizon in the distance, the night slowly but surely chasing away the light of day as the dark seeped into the sky.
The disappointment that wrenched their gut was equally unexpected, though neither Ran nor Rindo were able to comprehend what brought about the feeling of dismay that set over them at not having the opportunity to have your delicate fingers tangled in their hair. It was as if the shadow of the alley somehow became darker when your kind, pure smile no longer beamed at them. Who were you, they wondered, taking a seat on the backs of one of their fallen victims, earning them only a single oof, with no one daring to lift a finger after their previous beatings. What did you do to them?
Even with great difficulty, their second memory of you was impossible to dislodge, thoughts of you seemingly popping up no matter what they were doing. Everything reminded them of you and your soft smile: the small flower blooming through the blood pooling in the cracks of the pavement, the first rays of light that gently fell upon them when they finally stumbled home, tired and bloodied, after a long night of putting others in their place. You were haunting their every step, but the Haitani brothers would be lying if they said they hated it - there was just something about the warm and genuine affection shining through your eyes that had them already craving to see again.
But without even your name to go by, neither Ran nor Rindo seemed to be able to find even a trace of you no matter how hard they looked, prowling every street and back alley of both Roppongi and Shibuya both night and day. And taking their anger out on Toman members didn’t do the trick either, their faces very obviously paling beyond what was usually humanly possible when questioned under the promise of torture. No man was willing to let your name pass their lips even on their last inch of life - it seemed that something had happened within the gang, something that had even you freezing on sight of a possible Toman uniform. With their hands now essentially tied, all they could do was sit and wait and hope that their little light would come back.
“I found you!” The sound of your gentle voice, one that they had been eagerly awaiting for the past week, finally wafted over on the soft breeze, much like the break of dawn of a new day. Light steps that barely made a click against the road, you somehow managed to have tracked them down yet again in the winding back roads of Roppongi. Though to be fair, where you found them this round was just a stone's throw from that shop you had been looking for the previous time.
The school uniform you were clad in today, still neatly pressed and tucked despite a whole day of school, seemed to only accentuate your innocence to the harsh realities of their world.
Sticking your hand out, you introduced yourself with a somewhat sheepish smile, the other hand fiddling with the cloth of your top. “Sorry, I really didn’t mean to rush off like that last time.”
"Ran." "Rindo." Taking turns to grasp your hand ever so delicately, you felt especially breakable, especially vulnerable, clasped between their white gloves, the same ones that had been drenched in the tainted blood of others. Just a single twist of their hand, or a hard grip, and they were sure your bones in their grip would shatter like glass, yet you didn’t seem the least bit concerned, their names sounding heavenly coming from your lips.
Retrieving your hand, you briefly turned to retrieve two small packets, those clear plastic ones that rustled with every move, from your sling bag. Chuckling slightly to yourself under your breath as you handed them out, the lingering touch of both brothers' hands on yours as they received your gifts all but lost on you. Taiyaki. But not just any run-of-the-mill taiyaki, with the fish-shaped snacks, neatly wrapped in a ribbon, instead having been carefully customised by hand to feature two very familiar, very eye-catching hairdos. "I made these earlier this morning, had to hide them aside for you two!"
Intricate little braids of and streaks of hair of varying browns crowned the heads of each fish, the care that you put into each and every painstaking detail obvious even with a courteous glance. And for the first time in a very long time, the duo didn’t feel like they were just the Haitani brothers, a synonymous blob to be feared and avoided at all costs, that preyed on the weak in the dark and in the night - in your wide, innocent eyes, they were just Ran and Rindo. New friends that had helped you navigate the maze that was Roppongi, and that you had returned to thank.
"Maybe one day if I have time, you can show me how you do your hair like that." How did you do that? How did you seem to bring the sun with you, flushing their world with light and color even when you were hidden in the shade of the narrow alleyway?
Yet just like their previous encounter with you, it seemed that with just a blink of their violet eyes, your time with them was up once again. As if on queue, your phone went on with that despicable chime, and with one last soft, teasing remark about hoping that they liked your snack, you bid them farewell, light footsteps pattering the short distance to the main street exit past them.
Forced to just stand aside and watch your back retreat into the distance, hands lightly locked behind your back as you hummed a short tune under your breath, a bounce in your steps as you skipped out of their lives, no words needed to pass between the two brothers for them to come to the same conclusion, the realization striking them in the depths of their chest, as fast as quick as their own brutal attacks. How frail, how delicate you looked next to everyone, yet you lacked fear, the only thing shining out for your eyes from your gentle soul was kindness and sincerity.
It wasn’t that Ran and Rindo didn't want to hear your pleas or cries, they mused silently, the color of their world seemingly drained away with your parting. But what they needed wasn’t to hear your pleas of mercy - what they needed was to see tears well up in those doe eyes of yours, to see your tears shed on their behalf. The aching desire to hear your voice crack as you pleaded for them to stay safe, clutching onto their robes like they had seen you back when you first burst into their world in a blaze of selflessness, maybe bury your face into their robes as they promised you anything and everything under the sun.
It was rather unexpected, they had to admit, how two brutal sadists like them would come to crave your light of day in the eternal midnight they lived in. To crave your light brushes of your fingers running through their hair in the comfort of their home, or maybe even yours, where you would be safe away from the prying eyes of the night. They longed to keep your fragility only for them - your love, your kindness, your light of day that chased away the moonless night of their world. Yet at the moment, all they could do was watch.
