Heaving out a long sigh you keep staring out the window with your thoughts all jumbled up. Who would have thought or guessed that a small date like this would mess you up so bad??
You just thought that going on a date a few days before your birthday would be a great idea. It would help you socialise more but instead you were now in this depressive slump because of that jerk of a date.
Throwing your head back in anger you let out a frustrated groan as you mess up your already messy hair.
That date was such a jerk, you should have known about that the moment you entered the restaurant. The more time you spent with that jerk the more you realised, he was single for a reason and that’s clearly showing.
Not only was he belittling other women he dated but he had the audacity to think that they were the problem in the relationship when he clearly was the one.
Rolling your eyes, you stand up from your place and go towards your doorway to open the door for your friend Sangyeon.
You have known him since you both were in middle school, he knew almost no cut that he knew everything about you.
Yes, there were times when you would think what it would be like to date him, have him as your life partner but they remained as thoughts within would be left unanswered and unknown.
No matter how close you are with him, no way in hell are you going to risk ruining your friendship with him over a stupid crush or attraction you had towards him when you were young.
“What are you doing here?” You ask him as soon as you open the front door and lean against the wall so that he can enter the house.
“Oh, nothing. I am here to pick you up.” You hear him say from the kitchen as you sit down on the couch comfortably as you wrap yourself in a huge blanket to keep your body warm.
“Pick me up? I am not going anywhere though..” you say in confusion as you lift your blanket up when you see Sangyeon walking back towards you with a glass of juice in his hands.
“Oh we’re going out..” he says softly as he gets in the blanket and makes sure to tuck you both in it tightly.
Placing his hands on your shoulders he lets you snuggle close towards him as if it was not a big deal.
I mean it wasn’t, being close with each other like this was a normal occurrence when it comes to the two of you. So you don’t know why it feels so different suddenly.
“Going where?” You ask, your voice coming out mumbled as your head was placed on the crook of his neck. You could feel Sangyeon’s soothing hand patting your head gently which made you feel better than before.
“Oh that’s for you to find out. Now get up and go get ready, will ya?” He says as he pulls your head away from him and makes you stand up.
Scowling at him you throw him a glare as you walk away from him and go into your room to get ready.
🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
“For how long are we gonna be here for?” You ask with boredom as you let out a small sigh with your cheeks puffed out because of tiredness.
“Till your mood gets better..” Sangyeon says as he chuckles when he sees you rubbing your eye, “What’s wrong, hmm?” Sangyeon asks once he notices that you were still rubbing your eyes with your hand.
“I think something got in my eye..” you whisper as you continue rubbing your eye. You could feel it sting and burn but you could not help but keep on rubbing it.
“Here, let me see.” You hear Sangyeon say as he takes a hold of your hand and pulls them away from your eye.
He lets out a sigh in concern when he notices your eyes turning red. Grabbing a hold onto your cheeks he makes you look up slightly as he blows air in your eyes hoping it would help.
“Come with me. Let’s wash your eyes..” he says softly as he grabs your hand and intertwined his fingers with yours as he drags you towards the washroom.
Entering the washroom he stands in front of the basin and turns on the faucet, “Wait, let me tie your hair back..” he says in a hurry, taking your hair tie from your hand he gently pulls your hair back in his hands as he strokes them carefully trying not to pull them.
Tying your hair back he makes sure it’s tight but not tight enough to hurt your scalp or pull them too hard.
“Good?” Sangyeon asks softly as he walks towards the basin again and turns on the faucet. “Bring your face here..” he says softly as he helps you wash your eyes.
Grabbing a hold of your neck he gently brought it closer to the water, washing your face with the water he made sure your eyes got better.
Turning off the faucet, he grabbed a few tissues and tapped them on your face, careful to not mess up your makeup which was not much but in his eyes you looked pretty either way.
“Feeling any better?” He asks softly as he removes your hair tie gently and fixes your hair for you.
Nodding your head you give him a small smile. You could feel your smile widening when he grabs your hand and starts walking ahead.
“Where do you want to go first?? The arcade or the toy store?” Sangyeon asks once you were on the escalator going on the second floor.
“Why would we want to go to the toy store?” You ask in confusion as you stare up at Sangyeon. You noticed him give you a grin as he messed up your hair slightly.
“To buy you a stuffed you, of course. We will just go to the toy store and get you a stuffed toy, yeah?” He says once you guys reach the second floor.
You just shake your head knowing there’s no way he’s going to listen to you if you say no.
Reaching the toy store you both stroll around the shop abit when you come across a plush toy of Sylveon.
You had liked that Pokémon since you were a kid, it was one of the eighth evolutions of Eevee.
Picking it up you checked the price only to place it back down, it was expensive and you did not want Sangyeon to pay so much over a stuffed animal just because you like it.
Walking away from there you fail to notice when Sangyeon himself takes the toy in his hand and goes towards the counter to buy it.
“Do you like anything?” You hear Sangyeon whisper behind you, flinching as you drop the small stuffed animal of a panda which was placed in a bamboo.
“Hmm, this panda stuffed animal..” you say as you show him the one which was in your hand.
“You like it? Then let’s buy it..” saying that he snatched the animal from your hand and walked away to pay at the counter again.
Skipping your way out of the shop you look back at Sangyeon when you notice the paper bag in his hand.
“What’s in that?” You mutter in confusion as you try to take a peek inside only for Sangyeon to hide it behind his back.
“Nothing, let’s go to the food court to buy some food for you. You must be hungry after walking the whole day, yeah?” He says that as he walks away with fast steps leaving you behind as you just stare at his back in confusion.
—x—
Settling down on the table you keep staring at the paper bag which was in front of you. You knew Sangyeon took notice of that but he chose not to speak on it knowing how stubborn you can get, “Just tell me what’s in the bag..” you say as you shake his arm which was holding a piece of pizza.
“No way, it’s a secret. Now let me eat my food in peace.” He says with a scowl as he continues eating the pizza with a smile on his face.
You knew he was enjoying your distressed behaviour over wanting to know what’s in the bag but it’s for you so you’re gonna know about it sooner or later so that’s what matters.
🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
“Ah, I am so tired. I am gonna head off to bed. You can leave or stay over.” You tell him as you remove your coat and place it on the couch.
Not having the energy to place it on the hanger properly, you just leave the living room and go in your room.
You could hear Sangyeon nagging at your untidy behaviour from the living room but you just rolled your eyes. Being used to this at this point.
Getting under the covers you cover your body with your thick blanket which has been a source of comfort for you, it was gifted to you by Sangyeon so of course you would never let go of it even when it’s old and rough.
“Are you sleeping?” You hear a small, gentle voice ask from your door. You knew it was Sangyeon but you kept your eyes closed waiting for him to continue with what he was about to do.
“Okay good, you will probably see this once you wake up so I will just place this here beside you..” he talks to himself as he places a stuffed toy between your arms.
Peeking one of your eyes open you could feel your heart warming up to his kind gesture once you process the fact that it was in fact the Sylveon stuffed animal you had your eye on.
“I hope you hold this stuffed toy I bought for you whenever you feel down…” he whispers as he pats your forehead in a rhythmic manner.
You could feel your cheeks turning up in a smile but you tried your best to hide it. You could not believe that Sangyeon still remembers this small thing you like.
It must have been long ago when you mentioned in a conversation that you liked when people would pat your forehead in rhythm. It would help you calm down and feel better. You never thought that Sangyeon paid such close attention to it but now you.
“I hate that guy you went on a date with, the way he made you feel made me upset. Well I was also upset over the fact that I did not take you on a date but what can I say? I am a coward like that.” He says with a chuckle as he stops patting your head. “I like you…I like you Y/N..I have liked you since the moment I saw you dating that guy in high school. I thought of confessing to you a numerous times but I always backed out last minute. I was afraid, you know? Afraid that you might reject me or I might just not reach your standards. I was scared that I might lose this friendship we have built over the years over my feelings. I don’t want that..you’re probably the only friend I have kept in touch with and I am glad I did because I don’t know what I might do without you in my life Y/N..” he says in a hushed voice as he leans down and gives your forehead a small kiss, “I love you Y/N, I always have and I always will.” Saying that you hear him close the door.
Clutching onto your chest you let yourself breathe again. Looking back at the closed door you heard Sangyeon close your main door.
‘Think fast stupid. It’s now or never’ saying that in your mind you immediately get out of the bed and dash out of the house with the Sylveon plush clutched tightly in your hands.
“Sangyeon! Wait!” You scream at the top of your lungs when you see Sangyeon walking out of the complex. You knew tomorrow morning a complaint would be at your door the first thing in the morning but that was your least of your worries at the moment.
“Y/N? What are you still doing up? I thought you were sleeping?” Sangyeon mutters under his breath but you catch onto it quickly.
“I heard what you said..” you said once you were standing in front of him, “You idiot…I..I like you too..” you mutter as you take another step closer to him.
“I knew I liked you but I just could not accept the fact that I was liking my own best friend. I was in that denial for too long..I tried everything. I tried to distance myself from you so that my feelings don’t grow but in return it hurted both of us. I tried to bury my feelings away by dating but none of them felt right and most of the dates turned out to be huge jerks anyways…” you say with a chuckle as you take a hold of sangyeon’s hand in yours.
“I think it’s about time we give this new relationship of ours a chance..” you say with a smile adorning your face.
You could hear your heartbeat, it was pounding so loud that it reached till your ears. You were pretty sure Sangyeon heard it too.

"where do you think you're going?" your sudden raspy voice almost hurts from its roughness in the silent bedroom.
you had just spent the last ten minutes struggling against a deep slumber after one long pleasurable session with your fuck buddy, who was meant to be cuddling you right now instead of putting back his clothes. you just can’t believe this little piece of heaven is already in his jeans, almost ready to leave you.
on the other way around, sangyeon spent the said ten minutes trying to slip away from your arms without disturbing your sleep. but as if right on cue, when his arms attempted to slip his shirt on, you had to come back from dreamland and turn his exit harder than it already was.
“i have a class at 10 today” he sighs, shirt still hanging out on his broad shoulders, halfway through being put on, "you know i can't skip it anymore". with his back still facing you and only his head tuned to the side, he throws you a little smile.
“you said that five classes ago” you say, and the real battle begins when you throw him a devilish smirk.
detangling your naked body from the white sheets you can’t help but notice how the bedroom floor is a mess after last night’s activities, with your clothes discarded all over it. not that it is such new information since it always happens when you and sangyeon are too thirsty and desperate for each other.
“come back!” you say, approaching the man before you.
“uh-” you push yourself up against sangyeon’s naked back, delicately letting your fingers touch his slim waist in a caress you know he loves. sangyeon’s body is warm, just like his personality. and you try to steal as much of his warmth as you can, leaning down to kiss his shoulder with feather-like kisses, keeping your eyes in the tiny side part you can see from his face, studying his reaction.
you follow a path up reaching just under his ear and sangyeon can’t help but giggle, finding your behavior too cute, as he lets go of his shirt to take your hands into his, bringing them to fully hug him from behind. you rub your nose against his neck causing a fit of chills to erupt down the man’s skin.
the scene could look kinda erotic, like some romatic aesthetic movie maybe. your naked chest is pressed agains sangyeon's back and the morning sunlight coming through the curtains infuses a yellow aura into your room. it makes your skin and sangyeon's glow. it’s beautiful and cozy.
see, that’s the problem with being friends with benefits. you crave sangyeon’s presence and affection, still, you’re incapable of vocalizing it in the right way.
so all you do is beg him to stay.
“don’t go” your voice is just a low mumble now, and this garners sangyeon’s attention. it’s your bedroom voice, a tone you very much reserve for him, when you want him completely weak for you.
and sangyeon wants so bad to say no, not because he doesn’t want to stay but because he thinks it would be better that he didn’t.
so that’s it. you both are just such dumbers in love.
what started out as just some casual friends with benefits relationship between you and lee sangyeon, grew into something that is now completely out of control. and you’re both growing attached to each other, spending most of your free time together, doing things that your mutual friends would point as… couple things. can you imagine that? developing more than just platonic feelings towards your fuck buddy?
it's confusing. still, you do what your heart wants you to do.
“stay, please?” you beg and unbeknown to you, sangyeon does just the same.
“alright, i’ll stay… but just this time.”
“hm, that’s debatable” you hum, lips curving into a big grin as the man of your dreams just turns around in your embrace, leaning right in to kiss you hard like a starved man, hugging you tight against his body.
and even though you don’t know it yet, both of your hearts flutter for each other.
n/a: ok... so... i guess i'm back???? im sorry for any mistakes, that's not proof readen, i just wrote it in a rush bc of INSPIRATION and asdjqwaçsdlska i dont know, what do you guys think about it? ill try to be more active now I PROMISE

lee sangyeon's (almost) villain origin story

warnings : language , one suggestive scene

a/n : this is just pure self-indulgent sangyeon brain rot ,,, you've been warned ( aka. the epitome of "i write what i want to read and then toss it into the void" )
Tumblr media
Lee Sangyeon is a patient man. He babysits his young nephews, tutors underclassmen on weekends, and keeps his ten gremlins wonderful friends out of trouble. But his sanity is slipping. Granted, being president of the TBZ fraternity is hard work, but it's starting to feel more like running a daycare.
Though, with all its chaos over the years, rarely has he felt the need to wring anyone's neck out over a few minor inconveniences. Lately, however... well, his fingers start to twitch at the sight of his housemates.
And it's exactly that familiar feeling that begins to tingle at his fingertips when the infuriating voice of Kim Sunwoo follows the slamming of the frat house door. It startles Sangyeon from his dozed state and you as well. Flinching so hard your fingers that were previously twirling a lock of his hair pull painfully at his scalp. "Shit– oh! Sorry, babe." You hiss, petting his hair back down once you realize.
Sangyeon lifts his head from your lap solely to glare at the obtuse boy. His hands and arms adorned with multiple paper grocery bags and beer cases. "A little help would be nice," he jabs, mid-struggle to pile them onto the kitchen island before his strength gives out.
"A little peace and quiet would be nice." Sangyeon cuts, rolling back over to face the television. He stirs, stretching out his tired muscles before sinking back into the couch and your warmth. Desperately chasing the cozy feeling he'd been robbed of too soon.
"Is all that for the party tonight?" You ask Sunwoo. An innocent question for the sake of being polite that the boy somehow takes as an invitation.
"Almost all of it, Changmin is grabbing a few more bottles from the liquor store– is that Love Island?" He points, creeping up behind the sofa.
Whatever merciful God is listening. Please. No. Sangyeon begs.
"Yeah, it's the most recent–"
"I love Love Island– scoot!"
Sangyeon pulls his knees up just in time as Sunwoo jumps the couch, swinging his legs dangerously close to the glass coffee table, causing Sangyeon's fingers to twitch once more.
"Don't you have other things to be doing?" Sangyeon's voice is low in a silent warning. One Sunwoo purposely remains blissfully ignorant to.
"You know I personally like the British version better." He rambles on. Your boyfriend shoots you a pleading look. Whether he's begging you to do something or finding the strength to keep his cool, you aren't sure.
You give a pitiful shrug in return. Sangyeon just sighs, dropping his head to your shoulder. Perhaps the living room wasn't the best place for alone time.
Tumblr media
Surely, he couldn't be bothered in his room. He even added a "do not disturb" sign for good measure. Sure, Juyeon's music was a tad loud and he could hear tidbits of the show playing downstairs, but he could tune that out. Just a few more sentences and he'd be done with his paper and finally free to spend time with you.
"How much longer?" you ask, peaking over to where Sangyeon sits hunched over his laptop on his bed.
"Maybe like five minutes." He doesn't bother looking up from the word document. "I just need to figure out the phrasing on this, it's been driving me mad."
"You've been figuring it out four nearly two hours," you step over to the end of Sangyeon's bed. "Maybe you need to take a break and come back with fresh eyes."
He stubbornly shakes his head, running his fingers through his already messy locks. "I need to get it over with." At this point, you're standing right over him. Yet still, it's like you're not even there. Though you must admit, the focused scowl on his face is quite adorable.
"Sangyeon."
Nothing. Not even as you tilt down to his level does he pause his typing.
"Sangyeon." You call a little sweeter this time.
Again, nothing.
Having finally waited long enough, you tip his chin back with a single finger. He looks slightly miffed at first, but then his eyes land on your wardrobe. "Is that my shirt?" He whispers. Jaw slack as his eyes not so subtly roam every inch of the fabric, admiring how it hangs from your figure.
"It is." Matter of fact, it's not just his shirt, but a pair of his boxers as well. A detail that short-circuits his brain for a solid five seconds. It feels like he's been knocked in the chest, unable to say anything. His eyes flit from your outfit, to your lips, and back down.
"Sangyeon?" You purr.
"Yeah?"
"Click save."
You've never seen him move so fast. Throwing his laptop with such force it nearly flies off the bed. Sangyeon effortlessly pulls you over to straddle his lap, grinning so hard it makes you giggle.
"When did you even change into these?" His hands rest at your waist under the thin cotton tee, letting his pinky dip into the waistband of your, really his, boxers.
"I got bored and raided your closet while you had your nose buried in Microsoft Word." Your hands clasp behind his neck. "You don't mind, right?"
"Definitely not." Sangyeon's fingers dig into your skin as he sloppily attaches his lips to your own. He's greedy, like a prisoner starved for water on a hot summer day, but that doesn't seem to bother you.
"I'm gonna need this back though, you know?" He teases against your lips, pulling at the hem of the cotton covering your torso.
"You'll have to offer something in exchange."
"Now that," Sangyeon's eyes light up, "I can do–"
The door to his room flies open with a force so great Sangyeon half expects the Hulk to be standing in his door frame. The resounding bang of it ricocheting off the wall accidentally making Sangyeon dig his fingers a little too deep into your skin. It earns a yelp from you and you're shuffling off his lap in an attempt to escape his iron grip.
"Hyung–!" Eric exclaims, but takes a pause in his panicked state to greet you. "Oh, hi Y/N!"
"Hi, Eric," you wave awkwardly.
Sangyeon is scrambling to cover you with his comforter as fast as possible. Not that you're wearing anything particularly revealing, but it's still nothing Eric needs to see. Not that it matters, Eric doesn't seem too concerned with you or the state you and your boyfriend were previously in.
"Hyung, I need your help!"
Tumblr media
This is Sangyeon's absolute last resort.
Does he necessarily want to spend his only free period of the day with you in a noisy, crowded, cafe? No. He'd much rather be in his room with you curled up in his arms, completely and utterly alone. But so long as he lives with ten men who have never known the concept of privacy, he'll have to settle.
At least you seem happy with the lunch date he planned. Animatedly talking on and on about how you've been wanting to try this cafe. And if you're happy, then Sangyeon is happy. He'd count today as a success even if all he does is admire the beautiful pair of eyes across from him while you ramble.
"—Everything just looks so good, I don't know if I should go for a coffee or a fruity tea."
"Get both if you want." He offers, but you scrunch your nose up.
"That's a bit much, don't you think?"
"Then why don't you get a coffee, I'll get a tea, and whichever you like better you can have." A smile breaks out on your face at that idea.
"See, this is why I love you."
Yeah, Sangyeon thinks, this was a success.
Well. Almost.
"Sangyeon? Y/N?" Comes an unfortunately familiar voice. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Oh, you've got to be fucking joking," Sangyeon pinches the bridge of his nose as Kevin Moon and his impeccable timing make an appearance.
"We're on a date." He cuts, hoping the boy will get the hint to leave. But of course, he doesn't. Instead, Kevin pulls up an empty chair and plops down at the end.
"Have you guys been here before? It's my first time and I can't figure out if I want a coffee or a tea."
Tumblr media
Sangyeon gives up. They win. The ten little demons infesting his home win.
"Jail can't be that bad, right?" He ponders aloud as the two of you lay sprawled out on his bed. Even you've begun to notice your boyfriend's slow descent into insanity. And while you do feel bad, it is a little comical. "What's a few murder charges... or ten."
You listen to him rant, his head in your lap and arms encircling your hips. You continue to brush your fingers through his hair, hoping the action will induce some sort of calming effect.
He props his chin up on your stomach to look at you pouty lips and puppy eyes. "It's so unfair," he whines like a toddler.
"I think you'll live," you chuckle.
"I literally won't."
Like clockwork, there's a knock on his door. Sangyeon groans, exasperated. "Ohh my God, seriously?" He faceplants into your stomach. "You deal with them. If I do it I'm leaving in handcuffs."
"Come in," you call.
Haknyeon peaks in, frowning when he sees Sangyeon's state. "What's wrong with him?" He points.
"Everything."
"Nothing," you both answer. "He's just being dramatic. What did you need, Haknyeon?"
"Uh, well I was wondering if you could help me with a dilemma?" He asks shyly, tip-toeing the rest of the way in.
"What's the dilemma?"
He pulls two shirts from behind his back. "So, I finally asked out that girl in my class—"
"Aw, Hak, congrats!" You coo.
"—Thanks," he beams. "We're supposed to meet for coffee in an hour. Which shirt should I wear?"
"Whichever gets you out of my room the fastest," Sangyeon grumbles, voice muffled.
"Shush!" You slap the back of his head in warning. "I think blue would go well with your eyes, Hak." You smile and Haknyeon lights up.
"Okay, perfect! That's the one Younghoon and Jacob picked as well. Thanks, Y/N, thanks Hyung!" The boy is already turning on his heels as he calls out his thanks. Sangyeon lifts his hand in a half-hearted wave as the door slams shut.
"Be nice to him, he's excited," you chastise. "He's been ogling over that girl for months. This is a big deal for him."
Sangyeon sighs, propping his head back up. "I know it is, who do you think helped him pick out and iron his pants this morning?"
"They really look up to you, you know? That's why they're always bothering you for stuff."
Your warm palm comes to rest against his cheek. It's frustrating for him, always feeling responsible for everyone around him, you know this. And while his willingness to take on that challenge is something you've always admired, you do fear him getting burnt out.
Sangyeon frowns. "I know, I just wish I could have a few moments to be selfish. Is this how parents feel?"
You laugh at his remark. "I think even parents get more of a break than you do."
"Told you we should've used protection." He grins with his gummy smile at his own joke. Making you playfully flick his forehead.
Tumblr media
"Getting all of us out of the house at once is a big ask, Y/N." Jacob grimaces as takes a sip of his of his cold brew.
What was originally supposed to be an intense study session for your upcoming physics test quickly turned into you debriefing Jacob on Sangyeon's declining sanity. Which you're eighty percent sure Jacob only entertained as an excuse to procrastinate. Because it's been two hours and neither of you has so much as opened a single textbook despite his multitude of complaints about being unprepared.
"I know, but you're their vice president, isn't there something you can do? You could organize a charity event or something." You pout. "I'm suffering too here!"
"Even if I could find a way to convince ten—" he holds up both hands with fingers spread for emphasis. "—ten, that's one-zero, men to all clear out, I don't want to be the one babysitting them."
"You'd have Chanhee there to help."
"The odds of getting Chanhee to do anything outside of his job description are about as good as me passing this test." Jacob snorts, and all hopes of getting TBZ's treasurer involved are squashed then and there.
Jacob is your only hope, so you're going to have to lay it on thick.
"Come on, Jacob, please. Sangyeon really needs the break."
"Don't give me that look." He jabs a finger at you.
"Please, Jacob."
"No."
You sink back into your seat, letting out a long and dramatic sigh. Attempting to look as pitiful as possible. And judging by the way Jacob's leg won't stop anxiously bouncing beneath the table, it's working.
"Don't do that," Jacob whines.
Silence.
"Okay, fine, I'll figure it out." He throws his hands up in surrender. "Just quit pouting and help me study."
"Thank you, Jacob," You perk up. "You're the best!"
"Yeah, yeah."
Tumblr media
The excited call you get from Sangyeon telling you to come over immediately comes sooner than expected. You're not usually one to question miracles, but you are curious as to how Jacob managed to drag everyone out of the house on a Tuesday night.
"Where is everyone?" You ask as Sangyeon tugs you through the front door.
"Don't know. Don't care." He smiles brightly. "What I do know, is I'm not touching a single textbook, laptop, or phone."
You aren't sure when the last time you saw your boyfriend this happy was.
Sangyeon plops down onto the couch, pulling you into his lap as he does so. "It's gonna be just me, you, some take-out, this couch, and the last season of Love Island Australia."
You snort. "You say that, but I'm betting twenty on you being knocked out by the end of the first episode."
"That's actually the plan," he grins smugly before pulling a blanket over his legs and letting his head fall into your lap. He's not even facing the screen. You're starting to think he just invited you over to be his personal pillow.
But you let him, because it's well deserved.

kiss me awake
(hyung line) when you wake them up with a kiss~ (amazing idea from @ilovechanhee !!!!!)
genre: kisses ofc, pouty sangyeon, cuddling, clingy sleepy bbys notes: i feel like for these four members, they're definitely quieter when it comes to being kissed awake, but i assure you the other members will be more energetic.... oh and btw im opening my requests back up now since im mostly caught up!!! i hope you guys enjoy this~ and ill try to finish both series at some point :D also this is a pretty simple prompt so im sorry if these are a bit short :( word count: 0.9k
sangyeon
you had just gotten home and were excited to see your boyfriend after a long day. you put down your jacket and bags as you bounded into the bedroom. you paused at the door though, because under the setting sun, was sangyeon sleeping. he was curled up on the bed comfortably.
a lightbulb went off in your head just then. you walked over to the bed and crouched there. after admiring his beauty for a bit, you kissed his lips to wake him. over and over again, you pressed your lips against him but he only kept sleeping.
you frowned.
you kissed harder, poking his cheek while you were at it. finally, his eyes blearily opened. they met yours and he visibly brightened at the sight of you.
“oh?”
“hi sangyeon,” you smiled. he smiled back, blushing slightly.
“hey,” he muttered, his sleepy voice raspier and deep.
you stood up but you stopped at the sound of his whine. you turned around and you noticed that he had opened the blankets, inviting you in with pleading eyes.
“join me.”
“no,” you shook your head giggling. “we need to go soon, get ready…”
he started pouting, looking at you with sad eyes, almost like a puppy. of course, this was the only side of sangyeon that only you could witness.
“sangyeon,” you crossed your arms playfully.
he pouted more.
“one more kiss at least?” he asked, smiling shyly.
“sure,” you laughed, bending down to press more kisses to his face. this time, he reciprocated.
jacob
“you should totally kiss me awake some day.”
you remembered when he had said that when you guys were fooling around in the morning. it never left your mind ever since he said that. so, you actually decided to do it when he was taking a nap that day.
as so, you pressed one kiss to his cheek, and he woke up immediately. maybe he’s just a really light sleeper.
he widened his eyes, pressing a hand to where your lips touched, “y/n-”
you smiled widely, kissing him again, except on his lips.
he let out a small surprised sound and you could tell he was getting shy by how red his cheeks were turning.
“i-” he almost choked on air. “i didn’t think you’d actually do it…”
you shrugged, “it was a good idea after all.”
“sure, sure,” he laughed.
he sat up from the bed, rubbing his eyes sleepily. you sat down next to him on the bed. then, he positioned himself so that he was behind you so he could pull you into a tight back hug. he buried his face into your back, melting into your warmth.
“do it everyday then.”
you giggled, leaning into his hug as you played with the hands that were wrapped around your waist, “will do.”
younghoon
he just looked so cute at that moment, his hair messy and his lips pouty. he must’ve fallen asleep while watching cat videos, as he had his phone on and open. kissing him awake was something that you’ve always wanted to do.
so, you leaned down and pressed a small kiss to his forehead. when you noticed that he hadn’t stirred yet, you kissed him more, on his cheeks and on his nose.
his hand reached up and tried to bat you away from his face, scrunching his nose adorably.
“ah, stop it,” he whined.
you smiled and only kept doing it, pecking him more and more until finally, he opened his eyes. he looked surprised for some reason as he looked at you with wide eyes.
“hey,” you greeted casually.
he looked shocked.
“why do you look so surprised?” you asked, eyeing him with confusion.
“oh, i thought you were- a cat or something,”
you looked at him with disbelief, “you thought my kisses were a cat’s?”
he smiled sheepishly.
“we don’t even have a cat?”
“sorry! i've been watching too many cat videos...” he apologized, flushing slightly. he pulled you down to sit with him. he pressed frantic kisses on your cheeks, making your face feel hot. “sorry, sorry.” he apologized again and again as he continued to kiss you.
“o-okay, enough,” you stuttered, forgiving him quickly before pulling him down to join him in his nap.
hyunjae
he must’ve fallen asleep while waiting for you to get home. when you walked into the room, the lamp was still on but his eyes were closed and his lips slightly parted.
he looked beautiful like this. he looked so beautiful that you couldn’t help but press a long kiss to his lips. but he must be a light sleeper because you accidentally woke him up.
he opened his eyes, blinking slowly. his lips formed a small smile at the sight of you.
“y/n?”
you startled, not expecting him to wake up.
“oh i-” you cringed. “i didn’t mean to wake you up.”
you turned away so that you could turn off the lamp so that he could go back to sleep but you felt a large hand catch onto your wrist.
“hyunj-”
he pulled you into bed with barely any force. you fell in, next to him, facing him and he immediately latched onto your whole body, his arms wrapping around your waist firmly as you instinctively threw a leg over his.
“...hyunjae?”
he whispered quietly, “i missed you.”
“oh,” you breathed out. “me too.”
you paused, looking back briefly.
“i still need to turn off the lamp-” you stopped, shutting your mouth quickly because when you turned back to face him, he had already fallen asleep, his face content and relaxed.

Tumblr media
“sweet girl, you are more than we ever expected and better than we ever imagined”
The word perfect isn’t a word you would use very often. Especially when it comes to your life. Nothing about your life has been simple. You had a distorted vision of what perfect might look like due to your parents' crumbling marriage. Fighting and screaming all the time wasn’t exactly the image of a picturesque marriage.
There was a period in your life that you used to want to forget. The fucked up image of love that your parents engraved into you made you run through guys like they were going out of style. Each one was worse than the last. You swore you’d give up on love after your last boyfriend. That was until you met Sangyeon.
Oh sweet Sangyeon. A dashing, lovable man that managed to steal your heart, and the hearts of many others. Sangyeon was an idol, a star amongst the stars. He was the main vocalist and leader of a very popular boy group, and no matter how much his members teased him, they wouldn’t lie when they said they depended on him a lot. Sangyeon was a natural born leader, great with anyone and in any situation.
The fact that you, in your must insecure and fucked up state, were able to catch Sangyeon’s eye was a feat in itself. When he approached you, you couldn’t believe it. What would an idol want with you? But he was so kind, so soft spoken and sweet. He made you feel so special, all the time.
Your relationship was secretive at first, with his idol image and him being a leader he had no choice. It was hard at first, your insecurities getting the best of you, but he never faltered. He never gave up on you. He fought tooth and nail to keep you and your relationship together. When the news came out, fans were supportive. Most of them at least. The good outweighed the bad, and the two of you couldn’t be happier.
People became even more supportive when Sangyeon proposed. The world seemed to be warming up to the idea that Sangyeon was beginning his life outside of being an idol. Which is why the news of your pregnancy wasn’t a surprise to anyone.
Sangyeon took the time to ease people into it, wanting people to understand that he was still the same old Sangyeon, except he’d be coming home to a wife and soon, a daughter.
Preparations for your little girl were in full swing. Gifts being delivered, cute cards, diapers (because you can never have enough), clothes, balloons. Your little apartment that seemed to be perfect for you and your little family was beginning to seem a little crowded. Sangyeon didn't seem to mind, though. Too enamored with the idea of attending lamaze classes, and what you would consider his personal favorite, decorating the nursery.
In one of his very rare off days, Sangyeon had been spending the entire time buried in ripped open boxes, instructions, and pink and lavender colored paint cans that Kevin had specifically asked not to touch until he could get to your home. Hobbling from your place in the kitchen, one hand on your stomach and another on your lower back, you made your way towards the open door that smelt more new than the rest of the house. The pristine white furniture scattered all about, some even covered in plastic so as to not get droplets of paint on it in the future.
A smile makes its way to your face when you notice the three in one crib Jacob had bought for you guys was perfectly intact, Sangyeon standing over it proudly. As if hearing you at the door, he whipped his head around, a smug smirk on his face.
“I told you I’d get it done.”
Your husband was met with a roll of your eyes as he chuckled. “My hero.”
He swiped at his forehead with the sleeve of his shirt as he walked towards you. First laying a soft peck on your forehead, then bringing both hands to your growing stomach, leaning down to place an equally soft kiss on the top of it. Almost as if feeling him place the kiss, the baby kicked. The small bump hits Sangyeon on the tip of his nose as he scrunches up his face.
“Easy. I know I stink.” Sangyeon whispers to your stomach.
You giggle, bringing a hand to run through his slightly damp, dark brown locks as he stands up.
“Well, what do you think?” Sangyeon asks, gesturing to the bed.
“I think she’s going to need more than just a bed, Sangyeon.” You counter.
Sangyeon drops his hand, beginning to pout. “Well I know that! I’m not finished yet.”
This time you let out a chuckle. “Babe, it took you three days to put the bed together. At this rate, the nursery won’t be done when she arrives.”
Sangyeon looks around the room, taking in the still full cans of paint, the partial design that Kevin had started of white lilies that surrounded your daughter’s name, and the rest of furniture that still needed to be put together.
He smiled as he turned back to you. “Being parents is chaotic, right? You gotta expect the unexpected.”
You couldn’t help but smile back. “I think the saying is what to expect when you’re expecting.”
“Well we definitely didn’t expect this.”
A breathy laugh made its way past your lips as you made your way through the chaos, laying both hands on the baby crib. Sangyeon followed closely behind you, a firm grip on your hips to make sure you don’t fall. His senses were immensely heightened when it came to you and it seemed they were heightened even more if that was even possible now that you were pregnant. You hadn’t so much as lifted a finger for anything, Sangyeon being at your beck and call.
“What do you need me to do? Anything?” He questions.
You turn to look at him. “The blanket your mother knit, it’s in our room. Can you bring it to me?”
Sangyeon smiled, turning to make his way out of the room, but not before tripping over a ripped box that still holds pieces of the pale pink rocking chair that needs to be put together. His face turns beat red as he speed walks towards your room. You giggle at your husband’s cuteness as you turn back towards the crib.
Sangyeon put the purple sheets on the mattress, and had even placed the pillows on the bed. A teddy bear that Changmin had gifted you sat in the middle of the bed. You laugh to yourself as you remember the pleas Sangyeon made to the younger boy, promising not to get anything scary for your baby girl.
“I found it!” You hear Sangyeon yell, his fleeting pounding across the hardwood floor as he rounds the corner into the room.
The small, pink and white checkered blanket swings back and forth in his hands from the movement as he hands it to you. The soft material glides through your fingers as you lay it over the mattress.
Sangyeon lays a peck on your shoulder as he whispers. “Perfect.”
You smile as you let him wrap his hands around you. He brings them both to the bottom of your enlarged stomach, putting pressure as he lifts up your bump. You groan slightly as your husband chuckles from behind you. You feel him start to release his grip on the bottom of your stomach as you whine.
“Don’t stop.” You say softly, placing your hands on top of his.
Sangyeon snickers. “I think that’s what got us in this position in the first place.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his comment, a rush of heat blooming up your neck. You turn in his arms, slowly so he can gently let your stomach down from his hold. The size of your bump leaves a substantial amount of space between you and Sangyeon as you have to just lay your hands on your shoulders. Sangyeon looks you over as he smiles slightly.
“Stop stressing.”
You frown. “I’m not. I swear. I just,”
“Want everything to be done before she gets here. I know. Everything will be done, I promise. Some of the guys are supposed to be coming over later on today to help. Kevin wants to finish painting the room, Jacob and Younghoon are going to help me put together the rest of the furniture, and Eric and Sunwoo will…” Sangyeon trails off, making you laugh.
“Just keep them away from the paint. I have a sneaking suspicion more will end up on you all and the furniture than the walls.”
Sangyeon laughs as he leans forward to peck your nose. Your eyes close at the soft contact, feeling a bump at your stomach again, letting you know that your daughter has once again kicked.
“She seems to know when we’re being affectionate.” You tell Sangyeon.
He grins before you both head a cough.
“Don’t let me interrupt, but you should really start locking the front door.”
You both pull apart as Sangyeon speaks.
“Sunwoo, please stop just entering my house without knocking.”
You laugh to yourself as Sunwoo makes his way towards the two of you.
“I did knock. You guys were too enthralled with each other to bother hearing me.” Sunwoo says.
He bends down to whisper to your growing belly. “Hi baby! It’s your favorite uncle!”
You scoff playfully as he turns his head, laying his ear on your stomach, nodding as if the baby is talking to him. You look at Sangyeon who's watching his younger member in amusement.
“Saying anything interesting uncle Sunwoo?” You ask him jokingly.
Sunwoo lifts his head giving you a smirk. “Just that she likes me more than Jacob.”
You snort as you back away from the boy. You didn’t bother commenting back knowing that even he knew that statement wasn't true. Jacob was already the favorite uncle with how much your baby girl kicked whenever he was around. Everyone knew that, but you kept quiet so Sunwoo could have his moment. You were able to hear the chime of your keypad this time around as you heard more voices enter.
Sangyeon grabbed your hand, leading you into the family room where everyone was gathering. They all smiled and said hi, some giving your stomach light pats in a gesture to say hello to your unborn daughter. Just as you had expected, the moment Jacob patted your stomach the baby kicked making both you and Jacob laugh. Sangyeon gave out the assignments for everyone as they took off towards the nursery.
“Look at the fearless leader, leading the way to build a nursery.” You said softly.
Sangyeon grinned. “Who would’ve thought, huh?”
You heard commotion in the nursery as you sighed. “Oh boy.”
Sangyeon helped you over to the couch, turning on your favorite show as he pecked your forehead. “No more stress. Everything gets done before she gets here. I promise.”
You nod. “Just as long as they don’t break anything.”
Your husband laughed, kneeling down in front of you. “I’ll rough ‘em up if they do.”
A look was thrown Sangyeon’s way as he laughed at you, the both of you knowing he doesn’t have a single violent bone in his body when it comes to his members.
“Very funny.” You say softly.
Sangyeon grins. “I guess this is what we can expect while we’re expecting.”
You grinned. “Oh baby girl, you are in for a real treat when you arrive!”

“Code name: Lunala, reporting in for duty.”
As soon as you heard that you were approved to enter from the other side of the room, you turned the doorknob slowly and opened up to see that your chief, The Shopkeeper, was already expecting your arrival.
Walking towards the chief, you noticed tons of folders scattered around messily on the table, indicating that the chief hasn’t been in the best mood, or rather, has been pretty frustrated with a particular case, or rather, someone.
Once you have reached close enough to keep a fair distance, you clasped your hands and placed them behind your back before speaking up to question why you were summoned in the first place.
“You have a mission for me, sir?”
“Indeed, I have. And it is rather a tough one. Hence I needed higher-level assassins like you to handle the job.” The Shopkeeper responded as he furrowed his eyebrows.
As he got up, he directed your direction towards the whiteboard situated right beside him, Upon closer look, you could see that The Shopkeeper himself had been hunting the individual in question for weeks now, judging from all of the available information and the red strings that connected a picture or a clue from one end to the other.
Most of the time, the Garden Assassin Syndicate, better known as the Garden, are often tasked with assassinating individuals who threaten Ostania. You were part of the group for the past three years, more or less. Joining the association wasn’t by your own choice, though—you were eventually scouted by the Shopkeeper himself after witnessing how you have managed to wipe out an entire army from your previous job.
Back then, you weren’t part of any organisation whatsoever—you simply killed for the sake of living, earning some pocket money to provide for yourself and your little brother, Haknyeon. You often listened to the news and bought the daily newspaper as well, for there were individuals out there who posted their requests to kill anonymously. If you were to take the job and succeed, you would be paid at a specified location later on in the day without ever meeting who your employer was.
It was a risk, but you simply had no choice because you were born and gifted with such skills, and you had nowhere to go but to turn to assassination as a profession. As long as it was enough to keep you and your brother alive, it was all that mattered to you.
When you were accepted into the Gardens three years prior, it was a vast improvement for you and your little brother. Not only would you be paid loads, but you would also get a safe rooftop above your head each day. But it came with a cost—you had to have two different identities, and no one was to ever find out about your affiliation with the organisation itself.
Including your brother, Haknyeon.
You took up the job because you had no other choices, and continuing with what you have done in the past was getting too dangerous for you to handle alone—it also risked the chances that your brother would eventually find out about your little “side job”.
After years of training and experience, you have risen to the ranks of being one of the higher-level assassins, often tasked to handle more gory and challenging jobs. So that was why you were summoned here today by the Shopkeeper himself.
However, you had to blink twice when you looked at the board just to ensure you weren’t seeing things wrong.
“With all due respect, sir, this is the man you would want me to assassinate?”
“Indeed. We have kept him on our radar for long enough, and I think it is about time that we make the move to put a stop to his schemes.”
“But sir… that’s Twilight, Westalis’s well-known spy. Why would we have to assassinate such an individual when they do not have contact with us at all?” You were starting to ponder this whole scenario. Indeed, the chief might have made a mistake. Targeting the spies? That would call for a war between them and the assassins.
“I know what you might be thinking, Lunala. But I believe once you start tracking him down, you will understand why. And a fair warning, we do not have much time, and I need you to close up on him as soon as you can, and I expect you to report back to me immediately before I give you your next mission.”
With the chief’s stern and firm demeanour, you knew that there was little to no chance of persuading him or changing his mind. Hence, you reluctantly accepted the offer, reassuring him that you would find more clues along the way as well.
Walking out from the door, there was only one question that pondered in your mind.
What exactly is there about you, Twilight?
Tumblr media
Sangyeon’s POV
“My my, if it isn’t my number one loyal customer!!” Freddie shouted out loud as he witnessed how Sangyeon slowly made his way towards his store.
“You flatter me too much, Freddie. How are the sales today by far?”
“Not much, like the usual. But now that you’re here, I expect a big order from you, no?”
Sangyeon chuckled. “You know me well. I will be getting two kilograms worth of roasted peanuts. They’re for the kids in the orphanage right across the streets.”
As Freddie started bagging Sangyeon’s order, he couldn’t help but smile at his answer. He knew that Sangyeon came every week to do the same deed, but he wasn’t sure why he would risk it all and do it on his own rather than letting the multiple organisations available that dealt with cases like this take over such trivial matters.
Every single time Freddie tried to ask Sangyeon about it, he always got the same reply, more or less.
“The only reason I became a spy was to bring a much better life for the kids in both Westalis and Ostania. I wish to create a world where no more children would shed tears.”
Freddie could only sigh and smile back at him. Sangyeon was such a kind-hearted soul, and yet he was always out there risking his life in all of his missions.
He has indeed built a reputation for himself, for Twilight is now well-known across the country to be the best spy there is out there. Because of that, the director could always rely on him and often gave him missions that could end up in a life-or-death situation. But Sangyeon never once complained and always took off the offers available. It was just the way he was.
Just when Freddie thought Sangyeon would leave after getting the two kilogram worth of roasted peanuts, Sangyeon took a few pennies from his back pocket and passed it to Freddie as a tip. However, Freddie’s eyes widened as he looked at the coins themselves.
It was Cipher F.
Without much hesitation, he immediately invited Sangyeon into his store, looking around to see that nobody had caught up with what they were up to before closing the door.
As they walked deeper into the store, both of them hopped into a wooden wardrobe located at the very end of the room before pulling a hidden lever in one of the walls as they travelled down to the basement.
Here was where Sangyeon and Freddie would often discuss detective work hidden away from the busy streets of Ostania. It also served as Sangyeon’s little base for when he needed to trade some weapons or even elicit Freddie’s help for some profiling assistance.
Freddie immediately went to turn on his computer as he quickly sat down and started typing away, seemingly trying his best to decipher the person that has been trailing Sangyeon for a while now. In the meantime, the spy himself was browsing through the walls filled with new weaponry that could prove to be helpful in his new missions to come as he picked out a few guns and began examining them as well as loading them.
As Freddie finally managed to narrow down to a few names and asked the agent himself to have a look, he couldn’t help but tease his old friend a little while scrolling through the browser page.
“Damn, Twilight, have you gotten rusty to have someone trailing you like this in broad daylight?”
“Oh sweetheart, I never fail, nor do I let my enemies come close to me within a five-metre radius. Which certainly means whoever this person may be is far more dangerous than all of the usual criminals that I deal with.” He wasn’t ready to admit that he had been tailed with, and his blood was starting to boil now to think that whoever this was would think they would get their hands on the infamous Twilight himself.
After a few more scrolls down the page, Sangyeon immediately laid his hands upon Freddie’s that were situated on the mouse, as he asked him to zoom in to have a closer look at the profile of this person.
Upon closer inspection, Freddie was certainly not buying it, thinking that this individual would stand no chance against Sangyeon himself.
“Twilight, are you sure that you have gotten the right person? As far as my eyes do not deceive me, that is a woman alright.”
“Not just any woman, Freddie. She’s the infamous Lunala from Gardens.”
Sangyeon knew exactly who you were. He has had a good amount of encounters with the assassins from your association throughout his whole life as an undercover agent for the Westalian Intelligence (WISE). Unfortunately, the spies from WISE are not usually on good terms with the assassins from Garden, and things typically turn out sour at the end of each mission. Sangyeon himself has had a few ones that turned out pretty ugly at the end.
He has never encountered you in person before, but he has undoubtedly heard about your deeds and your reputation, as you have certainly made a name for yourself among the spies and assassins. This has piqued his interest. No assassins have ever dared laid their hands upon the Twilight himself, for they would be losing their heads first if they did.
So what exactly is your mission? Why, of all people, would you target the best spy in Westalis?
Sangyeon was pumped up to figure out your motive, and he was determined that he was going to get you first before you could even try anything funny.
He quickly geared up and took the necessary equipment before he gave Freddie a quick wave goodbye.
“It has been a while since I’ve been this pumped and excited for a mission.”
Tumblr media
Y/N’s POV
“YOU DID WHAT????” You screamed at your younger sibling, unable to fully absorb the information dumped on you.
“I did the right thing, noona! It’s about time you settle down and get married.” Your younger brother Haknyeon crossed his arms as he sat on your couch.
Apparently, Haknyeon was getting very concerned about your love life—especially when you were already 27 years of age and had never once dated or had an actual boyfriend. At this point, he was extremely worried that he would have to accept the fact that he would not be having nieces and nephews to spend time and play with.
If you were, to be honest with yourself, you were also desperate in trying to find a partner for yourself. You have been hearing tons of whispers and receiving loads of side eyes at work, for you were one of the last ones who has not been giving out marriage invitations or even an engagement announcement while all of your co-workers have done so. You have always heard that maybe nothing was charming about you—hence why no guys would want to dedicate and spend the rest of their lives with you.
But you certainly did not expect your brother to intercept and find you a date for tomorrow night.
“Be at the Four Seasons Hotel tomorrow at 8:30 pm sharp, I have booked a table for you both and he would be anticipating your arrival.”
“You are insane.” You were the one crossing your arms now, scoffing that your brother did such a thing before you turned your heel and decided to retire back to the comforts of your room.
That got Haknyeon jumping up from the couch and running in front of your door, stretching out his arms to prevent you from stepping into the room before giving him an actual answer.
“Come on, noona. I promise you that it will be worth it. Look, he is a psychologist. Moreover, I’ve even done a background check back in the station before I got off work, and I can assure you that he is clean in my books! It wouldn’t hurt to just try it out for the night and see if the man of your dreams is finally right in front of you.”
Haknyeon then kneels to the ground, giving you that signature pouty lips as he clasped his hands together. “Pretty please?”
After staring at him for five seconds, you immediately slumped your shoulders and gave out a huge sigh, nodding your head, which made him jump up to give you a tight embrace.
“If he turns out to be a whole different person from what you have described, I swear I will kick you out of my apartment and you will be banned from entering my house.”
“Deal.”
Tumblr media
God, this was such a bad idea.
That was the only thought that filled your mind as you rubbed your sweaty palms together as you sat in your seat, waiting for your date to arrive.
Being all anxious about the dinner, you arrived half an hour early, apologising to the staff members that they had to accommodate you way earlier than the expected time.
But you have told yourself that you would rather be the one waiting instead, so here you were—sipping your water every minute to calm your fast-beating heart down while constantly checking the time on your phone.
As the clock struck at 8:30 p.m., a deep husky voice resonated above you.
“You must be Y/N, right?”
You quickly lifted your head to find a tall brunette male wearing a black suit with his hair parted to the side. He seemed pretty tall, about 176cm in height, and he was holding a little bag before he extended out his other free hand to give you a handshake.
Panicking, you quickly stood up to return the handshake, which made him smile at you. As you both sat down, he immediately took out the item that was in the bag that he was holding—a red wine.
“I hope that you are fond of drinking red wine. At least, that was what your brother has informed me of.”
Oh, you were so going to kill Haknyeon after this.
There was a problem. You have never told Haknyeon about your alcohol tolerance and how you were certainly not going to survive drinking a few glasses of red wine. But as a courtesy, you have no choice but to accept the offer and to act as if nothing was wrong about it.
As the man poured both of you a glass and the food came, you were both enjoying the ambience and the company for he was a pretty chatty man himself. He knew how to break the ice and not make things uncomfortable for you both. It was the way he was always so engaged in every conversation or topic that either you or he has come up with, and he never judged any of the answers you have provided.
What was more intriguing was his gaze upon you. There was something about it that just drew you in, which made you felt comfortable and wanting to share more with him.
And how attractive he looked.
As you both chatted more, you eventually found out that he was indeed a psychologist, and he worked at the local hospital in town. He was well-trained in his job, for he would often be sent back to Westalis, his hometown, to treat the patients there. In other words, he is going back and forth between both countries, trying his best to help as many patients as possible.
You, on the other hand, introduced that you were working as a clerk in the Berlint City Hall, and how you mentioned that you were just an ordinary person. But apparently, your date did not agree with this information as he gently laid one of his hands upon yours, reassuring you that you were doing more than enough to serve the city.
Oh, how you were starting to fall in love with him.
It wasn’t long before you realised that you had yet to get his name this whole time that you were chatting about other topics. When you finally asked, it was a name where you knew that it would undoubtedly fit a fine gentleman like him.
“Oh, my deepest apologies where was my manners?” He gently wiped his mouth clean with the given napkin before putting that signature smile back onto his face.
“You can call me Jayden.”
Tumblr media
You were now trying your best to balance yourself as you were tipsy and actually on the verge of being blackout drunk. Jayden was extremely worried for your well-being, so he was still beside you as you started walking down the streets. As much as you tried your best to tell him that you were okay and would call it a day, he was not buying it and started to grip your hands and placed them over his shoulders while his other hand laid gently on your waist.
“There’s no way I am letting you go home alone like that. Please, let me at least take you to your doorstep.” He replied firmly, clearly not giving you any room to fight back anymore.
It seemed as if you were left with no choice but to allow him to give you a helping hand as you both strolled towards the direction back to the comforts of your home.
It was then you both heard a gunshot.
Both of your eyes widened and your ears perked up from that loud sound as you both turned towards the direction of where the source of the sound came from.
Squinting your eyes, you eventually make out a few figures running into the dark alleyway down the road, carrying a gun as they begin shooting again.
That had sobered you up before you freed yourself from Jayden’s grip and took off running towards that direction, ignoring Jayden’s calls for your name.
Getting drunk and having a low alcohol tolerance was your weakness, but that does not mean that Lunala’s skills would diminish in any sort of way. You were now putting on your assassin persona, scanning the place to find traces of where the individuals may have gone. That was when you noticed a few scratch marks on the walls, and you quickly followed the direction towards the sound of the gunshots.
It took you a few turns before you finally found yourself in a corner, witnessing the group of thugs who were aiming their guns at a poor individual holding a bag that probably contained something that they were after. Your footsteps did not go unnoticed, for the thugs immediately turned back to aim their guns at you. Luckily for you, and not so luckily for them, you were now sober enough, ready to land a punch and kick to knock those thugs out.
In one swift movement, you ran towards one of the individuals, knocking the gun out of their grip before throwing a punch right into their face—causing the individual to fly across to the other side. The other thugs began to panic as they were surprised that a woman like you possessed such strength. Their hands began to tremble before one of them decided to put on a brave face and lunged towards you.
It turns out it was a horrible move to make because he would eventually be knocked out cold and tumble down the alleyway thanks to your brute strength. Not wanting to waste more time, you quickly took out each individual at a time, successfully knocking out all of the weaponry they possessed in their hands.
Dusting off your hands, you slowly walked towards the individual before that familiar voice made your eyes widen, and you turned your back to face the source of where it was coming from.
“Woah, Y/N. What exactly happened here?”
Damn it. It was Jayden.
There was no way you would tell him that you were an assassin, so possessing combat skills was part of your forte. You were struggling to think of something before you heard some shifting noises coming from behind you.
“Umm… I-It’s not what you think it is—”
“Y/N! Duck!”
Within a swift motion, Jayden quickly made his way towards you before throwing a punch at the individual holding the bag in their possession towards the ground. You were confused as to why Jayden did precisely that before he slowly bent down to face the individual himself. He quickly took the bag out of their grip before looking back at the individual grunting on the ground.
“Well, it must have been very bold of you to steal these jewellery pieces from the local art museum. Unfortunately, luck was not on your side for tonight.”
“Why you…”
“Oh, if I were you, I would save up the energy, darling. You were clearly in no way better than the thugs who were chasing you down the streets.”
“W-what? How did you know—”
“Oh, I do know, alright.” Then Jayden’s voice went down an octave lower, and the look in his eyes would be enough to send shivers down one’s spine. Unfortunately for the individual, he now finally recognised who exactly he was dealing with.
“Y-you… you’re… Twi—” The individual was knocked out cold by Jayden once again, only this time, he would not be waking up anytime soon. Jayden gave himself a huge sigh of relief before he stood back up, turning back to you with that signature smile of his.
“Well, that was something. I am sorry if I terrified you in any way. I hope you’re alright, Y/N?” Jayden questioned as he examined you to see if you were left with no scars. But that wasn’t what concerned you the most. That brute strength he had shown back then was not something an ordinary individual could pull off. Sure, maybe someone who possessed martial skills could do it anytime—but something just felt off.
You needed to know. If he genuinely does possess something else rather than just being an ordinary psychologist.
“J-Jayden… how did you know—”
“Oh, you meant that individual back there? Well, working with patients across the country has gotten me a fair amount of networks that I could rely on to keep up with the latest news. That also meant individuals like him who escaped from the facility and did the dirty work on the streets.”
Hmm… okay. That does seem plausible.
“And to be fair, he was about to inject you with some sort of liquid with the syringe he possessed in his hands right into your neck, so I had no choice but to knock him out cold.”
Syringe? Liquid? How exactly did this happen?
You quickly turned to look back and examined the scene, and sure enough, your eyes landed upon the shattered syringe with the liquid now oozing out onto the floor.
How could you not have noticed this before?
It seemed as if your date had somewhat of a keen sense and could detect certain things that you couldn’t, which was odd since you usually never miss out on a single detail.
Maybe it was the influence of alcohol. You reasoned to yourself, not wanting to ponder upon this topic for too long since your head is starting to hurt now as if it were the after-effects of the alcohol.
Jayden noticed how you were placing one hand on the side of your head as you closed your eyes to deal with the pain that was starting to get more prominent than before.
He calmly took off his suit and draped it across your shoulders, now holding you close to him once again.
“Let’s go home now, hmm?”
Tumblr media
It has been a week since that fateful incident.
You were typing away on the computer at work, but almost every five minutes, you would get distracted as your mind constantly wondered who exactly your date was.
There was just something about him that just stood out. You couldn’t pinpoint what it was, for you struggled to find the exact words to describe it yourself.
You searched for as much information about him as possible from the city hall’s database. Still, all that you could come up with was just as he had described himself: an ordinary psychologist who travelled back and forth between Westalis and Ostania to treat as many patients as possible.
At the same time, you tried asking your brother Haknyeon about Jayden himself, but the answers were the same as you had predicted. You undoubtedly did not tell him about the suspicions you have had about the man himself—there was no way Haknyeon would find out about your side job as an assassin anytime soon.
You sighed as you leaned back into your chair, closing your eyes to eliminate the frustrations. That was until the telephone from the table rang, and you quickly picked it up, expecting it to be from your higher-ups from the office.
“Code name: Lunala. Report for duty.”
Tumblr media
Your mission for the night was to assassinate the chairman of the Lee Corporation, as it was a task given by the state government.
It was an A-rank mission, meaning you would do the dirty work for the state government. Sure, they have gotten their people to handle assignments like this, but they care about their reputation too much to get their hands dirty.
Since the Gardens took on side jobs for the government and they were the ones who authorise you people to keep the organisation up and running, you assassins have learnt the hard way to keep one of your eyes closed and continue with the job as quickly as possible.
Making your way towards the hotel, you got through the security team quickly with your forged pass. As you finally reached the top floor where the chairman would be hiding, you slowly approached the two bodyguards who were guarding the doors and tried your best to woo them before finally drawing out both of your kunais as you slit their throats. As they dropped to the ground one after another, you gently knocked on the door, earning a response from the other side.
As the door opened, you wasted no time but to dash towards the first person that was within your sight, taking him out in an instant. All of the other men quickly armed themselves and charged towards you, but your quick reflexes beat them to it as you aimed for all of their vital spots.
Now that all the bodyguards were out of the way, you slowly walked towards the chairman, who was panicking as he got up from his chair and quickly grabbed one of the pistols from the ground, aiming it towards you.
“S-stop… please don’t kill me… I’ll give you whatever you want!!”
“Unlucky for you; you have no room to determine whether you would live. It is I who is going to end your life tonight.” You replied bluntly before getting yourself into your offence position and started charging towards him.
It was then the walls above came crashing down, and an individual jumped right in front of you, grabbing onto both of your wrists.
You tried your best to fight back, but clearly, the individual was way stronger than you were, still holding onto your grip firmly, not planning to let you go anytime soon.
The individual was wearing a hood, so it was nearly impossible to determine what they looked like. The only thing you could make it was their dark brown eyes.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. But I shall be taking the chairman with me.”
You narrowed your eyes, trying to figure out ways to escape from the individual while conversing with them to keep them engaged.
“Who are you? And what makes you think that you’ll be winning against me?”
“I’d like to think I am pretty good at my job.”
“Prove it then.”
It was then you kicked into the individual’s abdomen, causing them to take a few steps back before you aimed one of your kunai into their direction and threw it, only for it to miss and land towards the ceiling.
But it was part of your plan, for your aim was to get them to follow the direction of the weapon so that you could launch an attack when their defence was at its lowest. The individual caught on quickly, and he could defend themselves by crossing their arms to shield themselves from your punch before the both of you began a non-stop one-on-one combat with the individual.
Surprising to you, it seemed as if their stamina was not diminishing at all, even when you both have been brawling against each other for a good ten minutes now. If this keeps up, you know it won’t get you anywhere, and you need to assassinate the chairman to prevent him from escaping.
With one final punch, both of you retreated to each end of the room, quickly getting back into your defence position with both of your kunais in hand. The individual then promptly took out a handgun, aiming it straight towards you.
“Sweetheart, I do not wish to hurt you.”
“Bold of you to assume that you would actually be able to leave a scratch on me.” You taunted the individual while you were trying your best to catch your breath.
Before you could reason your next move, the individual then aimed the gun towards the ground and shot. To your surprise, the weapon did not contain any bullets, but rather a good amount of smoke was coming out from the gun itself. As you took a tiny whiff of it, you knew that you were in big trouble.
Sleeping gas.
It was too late for you to run as the smoke quickly engulfed the room. You tried your best to keep yourself awake, but eventually, you collapsed to the ground as your eyes began to close.
Before you blacked out, you could vaguely make out the individual’s last words before they eventually left the scene.
“...forgive me, Y/N. This is part of my job too.”
Tumblr media
You were awakened by the beeping noises seemingly coming from your side. You tried your best to open your eyes amidst the bright light shining into your face as you tried to make sense of your surroundings.
You then found yourself lying down on a bed with an IV drip inserted into one of your arms. An oxygen mask was placed over your mouth to help stabilise your breathing. Just as you were about to get up, you heard that familiar voice as they entered the room.
“You’re awake, Y/N.”
You turned towards the door to see your date from the other day walking towards you while holding a tray of food that he had prepared. As he placed them down on the table situated beside you, he gently gave you support as you slowly sat up from the bed.
“I’m so glad you’re okay, Y/N. I was worried sick about you.” He expressed his genuine emotions while trying to remove the oxygen mask away from you.
So many questions were running through your brain, and you tried your best to eliminate the ones where you could potentially risk yourself exposing your identity. Instead, you went for a general question that you hoped would somehow be acceptable in the current situation you were in.
“How did you find me, Jayden?”
“It just so happened I had a conference at the Lotte World Hotel. We were all told to evacuate when there had been an intruder reported at the top floors. The chairman of Lee Corporation was supposedly one of my clients that I was supposed to meet up with after my conference was over, I went up to the top floor to see dozens of men who were killed in cold blood. And it was also where I found you lying there on the ground.”
Mentally, you were cursing yourself for messing up the mission and nearly exposing your cover. Out of all people, you just had to encounter your date from the other day—as if what happened that fateful night was not enough to embarrass yourself or expose your identity even further.
While you were busy furrowing your eyebrows, Jayden took a seat on the side of your bed and gently placed one of his warm hands onto yours, which, to be completely honest, made your heart skip a beat.
As you looked up to meet his eyes, you could tell he had this genuinely concerned look, as if he was about to cry.
“Y/N. What exactly is your job?”
Oh, hell no.
This has been the number one question that you have been trying your best to avoid since the day Haknyeon set you both up on that very first date. What happened the other day would have blown your cover if Jayden had just asked if whatever happened back then was your doing. But given the circumstances now, especially when he found you amidst the dozens of dead bodies in the hotel, even an average person would think that something is not right in that situation.
As you were doing somersaults in your mind, you tried your best to keep calm and respond in the most natural way you possibly could without causing much further suspicion to be thrown at you.
“W-why would you say that?” You chuckled nervously.
“I don’t know… Y/N. I’m pretty sure you weren’t just there for fun, and I don’t think an ordinary clerk from Berlint City Hall would have business with the chairman. You could have lost your life if I didn’t find you there and then.”
You lowered your head to look back at the bedsheets, not knowing what to say. Perhaps you could tell him that you work for the State Security Service (SSS)—that would be a reasonable answer to buy some time for now. But there was a problem. Your brother Haknyeon is part of SSS, and there is no knowing if Jayden would do a little background check on you later on—that is, if he doesn’t trust you enough.
Or worse, you never know if he might have contacts from SSS, given that he is a famous psychologist in the country. He must have his networks to access pieces of information as quickly as possible—
Your train of thought was cut off when you were pulled into an embrace. Jayden rested one of his hands on your head as he began stroking your hair, and he gently rested your head in the crook of his neck. He rubbed his cheek against your soft hair, inhaling your scent before eventually speaking up.
“Y/N… I may not know much about you yet, but one thing I know for sure is that I do care a lot about you. That date that we’ve had the other day? It wasn’t just some ordinary date. I genuinely do like you and have slowly started to take an interest in you. You have no idea how I have been yearning to see you again, and only to have my heart dropped when I found you unconscious in the hotel.”
Your eyes widened at the sudden confession and embrace, but it seemed he wasn’t done letting out his feelings just yet.
“Y/N. I want to get to know you more, and in order to do that, I want to protect you at all costs. Even from the other day in the dark alleyways, I was so glad that I came in time to save you. So will you accept this offer?”
Never in a million years would you have thought you would score in a relationship. You have never dated, heck, no man has ever taken an interest in you. Who would’ve thought that a simple blind date set up by your very own brother would land this opportunity for you.
Jayden then slowly pushed you away, only for him to grab both sides of your shoulders, looking desperate into your eyes.
“Please? Will you give me a chance, Y/N?”
You were now having an internal battle with yourself. As much as you want to reject him, merely because of the dangers of your actual job and you were supposed to keep your close contacts to a minimum. But your heart says otherwise.
It would have been a lie to say that you weren’t smitten by him on that very first day that you both met during that date. You were entranced by him, and you thought that he might be a little too good for you, thinking that there was no way you would deserve a man like him.
But now that he has made the first move and confessed to you, that paints the whole situation differently.
Say no, Y/N. Do not risk it all—
“Yes, Jayden. Let’s make this work.”
Immediately, he threw himself over you, causing you both to fall back onto the bed. It was as if he was a puppy wagging its tail; being all happy would’ve been an understatement at this point. He was hugging you tightly and rubbing his cheek against yours, and you decided to return the favour.
“Thank you, Y/N. I’ll be sure to make you the happiest woman alive.”

“Ju Haknyeon, I swear you are so dead this time!!”
You slammed your apartment door open and screamed at the poor young fellow, who turned their head towards your direction while stuffing his mouth with his favourite chips. The young fellow was confused as to why you were so mad that your face was slowly turning into the colour of a bright red tomato at this point.
“Now, what have I done wrong this time, noona? I thought we were on good terms now that you have an actual boyfriend—”
“BOYFRIEND. Thanks for clarifying that. Because tell me why my little brother made an effort to announce to the majority of Berlint City Hall that I am engaged and ready for marriage within six months??”
That was when he remembered what he did, and his mouth formed an ‘o’ shape.
You were not having it, as you quickly stomped towards him and grabbed his bag of chips away, causing the male to whine and cling to you.
“B-but noona!! It is clear to everyone that you have been head over heels with Mr Jayden. Indeed, it would be natural to let people know that engagement is possible now.”
“You have no idea how badly I want to kick you out of my apartment like RIGHT NOW.”
Just as you were about to drag the male towards the front door, he suddenly screamed out something, which made you drop everything that you were holding right onto the ground.
“By the way, Jayden called a few minutes ago and said he will be waiting for you at the Four Seasons hotel!!”
You gasped. “Well, why didn’t you tell me this earlier!!”
You were now rushing into your bedroom, digging out clothes that would fit the theme and ambience of the date as you tried your best to fix your makeup as quickly as possible before dashing out to the front door again.
You waved a quick goodbye before you slammed the door shut, causing Haknyeon to grin as he pulled up another bag of chips he was hiding behind the couch.
“Noona is down so bad for him at this point and I am loving this.”

It turns out that Jayden booked the same exact hotel and table for the night to commemorate your third month as a couple.
It was crazy to think how time passed so quickly and the both of you have been having so much fun together. Jayden would always meet you after work right outside the city hall, and the two of you would often go cafe hopping on weekends too. For the first month that you were together, he booked two tickets to the local aquarium—all thanks to your brother Haknyeon who told him that you have an abnormal obsession with penguins.
For your second month, the man himself got two tickets for you to head to the local zoo because they were hosting an annual Halloween trick-or-treat event where all individuals, from kids to adults, were free to participate. It was then you showed off your childish and bubbly persona—something that Jayden himself truly really loved. It was rare for him to see you in such a manner since usually you were more shy and reserved. But it was good for a change.
So for tonight, he decided that it would be great for you both to just wind down and relax with a candlelight dinner at the very first place you both met, sharing about how each of your days has been for the past week. The both of you haven’t been able to meet up with one another for a while since Jayden was away in Westalis for a conference. So it was good to have him back now.
Or so you thought.
“Say, Y/N. There’s something important I need to tell you.” He took a sip of his wine before placing it down on the table.
“What is it?”
“I think… I might be gone again for a while.”
“Oh, no it’s fine—”
“No, I meant like… for a long time, that is.”
Oh.
As much as you were sad for him to leave again when he just got back, you couldn’t help but understand that it was his job to travel around the country for his career, meeting with clients and treating as many patients as possible. You tried your best not to portray how sad you would be in your emotions and your response, but clearly, Jayden could read your body language easily.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. I know I’ve just returned and have to leave again. It’s not fair for you at all.”
“Oh my god, no, please! I mean. You do what you have to do, Jayden. It is work, after all.”
This time, he took both of your hands into his and he gently placed a kiss on top of your palm, now looking back up to you while interlocking your fingers with his.
“I promise. I will be back sooner or later. I will keep you posted by writing you letters often. I love you, Y/N.”
Trying your very best to hold back your tears, you leaned in to give him a quick peck on the lips before responding to him.
“I love you too, Jayden. More than anything.”
Tumblr media
It has been close to a month now since you last encountered your boyfriend. It felt like yesterday when you had just dropped your boyfriend off at the Ostania train station, hugging him tight and not wanting to let him go despite the train master calling for the remaining passengers to board the train as soon as possible.
Eventually, you did let go, but not before Jayden leaned in to take a final whiff of your scent and kissed the top of your forehead, promising he would return in the blink of an eye.
At the very beginning, the both of you exchanged letters quite often—at least you would get a letter per week from one another. Jayden would often update you about his life in Westalis—talking about how he saved this one blind man who was about to be run over by a herd of horses on the streets, how he almost spilt his director’s coffee because he insisted on carrying five to six cups at once, and how the children from the orphanage home loved his company so much so that they are begging their caregiver to send him at least twice a week to play with them.
You often giggled reading through his letters, it always felt that he was always near and never far away, and you loved the way he could make you smile even through his writings. Every time you got his letter, you would rush back to your apartment, ignoring how Haknyeon called you out to cook him his favourite marinated pork ribs for dinner because you had more important things to do.
You would often write back to him the same day his letter arrived, so by the next morning, you could drop it off at the local post office and eagerly wait for his notes for the following week.
But unfortunately, the letters stopped coming a week ago.
It was very odd, to say the least because it all happened so abruptly that there was no reason for him to have stopped doing so. You tried writing a bit back more than usual but to no avail. You even tried your best to contact his office in Ostania, but it seemed that they hadn’t been receiving any updates from their very own psychologist himself.
Something must have happened to him. As much as you did not want to think about it negatively, you just couldn’t help but fear that something terrible must have happened. But still, you tried to place your faith and trust within him, holding onto the fact that he will indeed return for you.
So you have decided to search for clues about his whereabouts every time you were sent on a mission by the Gardens. You would make full use of your time staking out enemies while finding potential clues about even the tiniest detail that could lead you to Jayden.
There hasn’t been any luck, but you were determined and not ready to give up any time.
Jayden, wherever you may be, I will be looking for you.

The banging sounds of gunfire resonated in the city as the SSS were hunting for a mastermind criminal that had gotten on their radar for the past few months.
The criminal himself has evaded capture for the longest time, and when the SSS finally located his whereabouts, they couldn’t help but contact the Gardens to ask for their assistance. In response to that, the Shopkeeper sent his best assassins to help hunt down the criminal and to bring him back either alive or dead—naturally, you have been summoned due to your rank and also to guide the rookie assassins as part of their training.
With your lead, you instructed the SSS to stake out the buildings on the ground, sending in as many soldiers as they possibly could to narrow down the chances of escape for the criminal himself. Meanwhile, the assassins would take on the buildings from the top so that if the criminal escaped from above, you and your team would stop him.
You were examining the whole crime scene from below, watching how the soldiers from SSS had already begun firing, which indicated that the criminal had revealed himself. With that, you phoned your fellow assassins through your earpiece, signalling them to get into their offence position and watch the scene below carefully to ensure that the criminal does not escape this time.
As you slowly got deep into your work, you felt as if someone had been standing right behind you for quite a while before you eventually drew out one of your kunais and aimed straight into their face, only to be stopped by their firm grip on your hands.
Your eyes widened as you saw who it was—the hooded individual back from the Lotte World Hotel.
“So, we meet again.” The individual taunted.
You scoffed; your blood was boiling again. You have already been humiliated once by them, and you certainly were not going to let them take advantage of you any longer.
“You have interrupted me once, and I will not let you do the same again.” Rage was now pulsing through your veins, and your grip on your kunai hardened. Oh, how you wanted to kill this individual so badly now.
“Try me, then.” The individual challenged. Before you knew it, they freed you from their grasp and you immediately threw a strong punch towards their abdomen, only for them to escape your quick reflexes before they did the same towards you.
It was then you were reminded of the scene back in the hotel. Knowing that this individual somehow had the skills and reflexes that were on par with yours, you knew that battling them like this would take you nowhere. This time, you would need to use your wits to win against them instead.
As you were trying your best to come up with something, you were unfortunately disrupted by an ear-splitting scream from your earpiece—it was from one of your subordinates.
Holy crap—
The individual took this opportunity to see that your defence was weak, and they quickly charged towards you, pushing you straight towards the wall on the rooftop. You grunt at the sudden impact; not going to lie it actually did hurt quite a bit.
Suddenly, the individual began speaking up again, it seemed as if they were not done taunting you.
“Look how the tables have turned. I would’ve expected more from the infamous Lunala.”
“What do you want? I’m sure you’re here to disrupt our mission, aren’t you?”
“It’s a yes and a no. I had my own personal reasons for coming here tonight.”
You scoffed. “Mixing up personal reasons with work? Now, that’s professionalism done incorrectly—”
“Y/N. Do you not really know who I am?”
Wait a minute.
That voice. It sounded so familiar yet so distant. It was as if your mind were playing tricks on you, thinking that this person is someone you are acquainted with. But who could it be? You tried your best to narrow it down. It could be one of the criminals from the past that you’ve dealt with. Or maybe a past Garden assassin? You have heard that some have gotten away—
It was then the individual lifted off their hoodie, revealing the one that you would’ve least expected to see in this current situation you were in.
“J-Jayden??”
“It’s been a while, Y/N.”
But… but how? So many questions were going through your mind, and you were confused with this whole situation, trying your best to convince yourself that you’re stuck in this terrible dream and you’re actually asleep.
But you knew that it would be impossible. In reality, you were on a mission, and it just so happened that you had encountered your boyfriend, whom you had not seen in so long, in the worst situation possible.
However, it seemed as if you finally made a connection in your mind, and you needed answers right away. If Jayden were the man standing before you now, that would also mean…
“Yes, Y/N. I was the same guy in the Lotte World Hotel the other day.”
No way. “And you actually had the audacity to save me when it was you who wanted to kill me in the first place?”
Jayden took in a deep sigh. “You see, Y/N. Things have changed, and it certainly did not go according to as planned.”
“Well, I don’t want to hear it at all.”
“Actually, I think you might want to.”
His grip on you loosened slightly before he ducked his head down, trying his best to find the right words to explain the whole situation to you in the most positive way possible.
“Y/N. Meeting you was… I don’t know. I would want to say it could be a blessing in disguise, or maybe not.”
Your blood was already boiling and you were on the verge of tears, and quite frankly, you have no idea how much longer you could restrain yourself before you combust. “Cut to the chase, Jayden. Tell me what exactly is your true motive.”
“I was convinced…that all assassins were always on the opposite side between us. Based on past experiences, I’ve lived with the mindset that people like us just don’t get along with the Gardens. So, it was pointless to even think about wanting to make amendments and change history, all of that biz. At least that was what I thought.”
He now slowly moves his hands so that they are holding onto your shoulders instead, and he looks straight into your eyes, also trying his best to hold back his tears.
“But you proved me wrong, and I was wrong to target you in the first place. Unfortunately, because of how dangerous my job is, I can’t let things like this get the best out of me, let alone emotions hinder the way in my profession—because that would put the people I care about in grave danger.”
“Why is that… Jayden. What, or rather. Who exactly are you?” It was your time to pose the question back to him. It took him a few seconds to compose himself before blurting out his true identity.
“I am the man that you’ve been on the hunt lately, Y/N.”
No. No, it can’t be. You did not want to accept reality. It would seem as if you would be better off killed—oh, how badly you have stooped so low to discard the Lunala that you’ve worked so hard over the years to build up.
Love was dangerous. That was why assassins like you always struggled to find a partner—especially when they were from the other side.
One thing is clear now, the man in front of you is no longer your boyfriend. In fact, he is actually your worst enemy right now, and you were the same to him.
The only question is: who will make the first move to kill the other person?
It was then you let your emotions get the best out of you, as you finally let the tears that you have been holding up for so long drip down onto your face. You didn’t care if you felt vulnerable at this moment; you just needed to vent your feelings.
You sobbed before finally began to ball up your fist and started hitting Jayden on his chest.
“Why? Why did you just have to come into my life? If all that hadn’t happened, I would’ve just carried out my mission most easily and quickly as possible.”
“Perhaps, it was also my fault for thinking that I would surely get away and perform my mission well like how I’ve always done in the past. But it just so happened that you were the first one to prove me wrong.”
Jayden didn’t resist as you continued hitting him in the chest, which he deserved for failing to keep his composure as Twilight.
Just then, he suddenly moved his hands to cup your face, lifting your teary face to meet his. “We don’t have much time, Y/N. But before we part ways, let me just do this for once.”
Slowly, he leaned in to close the distance between you too. His lips felt warm against yours, and you didn’t hesitate to return the kiss. Jayden kissed even harder as he moved his hands to your back, pushing in and wanting to taste you more. As a tear dripped onto your face, he gently moved his fingers to wipe them away.
This is wrong. So wrong. But neither of you could resist it.
When you both finally parted and tried to catch your breath, he rested his forehead onto yours before whispering.
“We will return to being enemies the next time we see each other again, but just so you know, Lunala will always have a special place in my heart, even if my actions prove otherwise.”
With one final look into your puffy eyes, he pushed you away and quickly made his way towards the edge of the building; he took one final look at you before saying his potential last words to you.
“Sangyeon. Lee Sangyeon. That’s my real name.”
Within a flash, he jumped from the building and ran into the darkness, never to be seen again.
You were brought back from reality by your subordinates ringing you through the earpiece, and you tried your best to compose yourself and wipe your streaming tears away before you finally responded.
“Tell the soldiers from SSS to secure the entire premises. We have another individual to assassinate for the night.”
Tumblr media
Sangyeon’s POV
It wasn’t part of his job to have encountered you tonight. In fact, he was tasked with capturing the criminal and bringing them back to the headquarters in one piece, all while avoiding the SSS at all costs. It just so happened that the Gardens were called forth for the mission, and he knew that you would be there guiding the rookies.
There was a reason that he had been avoiding you for the past month. It was true that he has got to attend some conferences as part of his psychologist persona. But the main reason he left was because he knew that things were starting to get more dangerous than they already were—he began to develop feelings for you.
His main reason for even accepting Haknyeon’s call in the first place was because he knew that you were the famous Lunala, and it was as if pure luck that the opposing party were the first to make a move instead of him. It was something that he was thankful for in the first place.
Things started fine at the beginning, he was going to get close to you, gain your trust, and eventually wait for the right time to confront you about you trailing him for the past weeks.
His record has always been perfect: no flaws, no mistakes and most definitely, he has only been diverted from his mission so badly once you came into the picture. He realises the growing addiction that he has developed for you and suddenly, you became the most challenging mission that he would ever be assigned to.
He constantly blames himself whenever he thinks about his mission, how much he has let his guard down, or how this is not who Twilight is. But every time he does that, the soft, pure and bubbly image of you pops up in his mind.
Never would he have thought that he would fall in love, especially when he had gone through a difficult childhood himself, having the lack of love nor attention from his actual parents. There was just something about you that made him change his mind—that the world did not just have to revolve around crime and anger.
So he did what he knew was best for the both of you, him leaving before it would be too late to do so. He was not going to put your life in danger, and it would kill him to find out that you would get hurt all because of him and his actual job.
And for the first time, since he was known to become the infamous Twilight, he had a failed mission written in his books.
“Is it an addiction, Y/N? Because you were not an easy mission to fulfill.”

pairing: sangyeon x reader
rating/genre: fluff + comfort <3
summary: after a long week of work, you and sangyeon barely have anything left in you to give, but what you do have you give to each other. selflessly.
warnings: none, just people choosing to love each other even when they’re exhausted <3
word count: 2.2k
song(s) to listen to while reading: good for you by eric nam, constant by jesse barrera ft. jeremy passion <3
note: back at it again with another comfort fic that i polished up from my old drafts. probably tmi but a while back i was listening to an episode of a podcast that was all about long-term partnership and this one idea of each partner rating their current level of capacity in a given moment was just fascinating to me. and then i wrote this wishing i had someone in my life like that. if that barely makes sense just read and you’ll get what im describing hopefully hehe. i'm in love with this type of relationship so i hope you enjoy <3
————
Sangyeon stepped through the door of your shared apartment that Friday evening to find that you were sitting comfortably in the living room with the television on, the sun having already set and the noise of commuters driving home having finally died down outside. It was quiet and peaceful, and his shoulders instantly relaxed as he finally shook off some of his work worries and thought ahead to the weekend - to finally getting to wind down with you and sleep in for the first time in too long.
“Hey babe,” you heard him say softly as you finally turned to look at him from your spot on the couch. You could see the tiredness radiating from his body, a large hand raking through his hair to push it out of his face as he gave you a little smile before hanging his jacket on one of the hooks you’d put up by the door.
You wished you could smile back but you’d had a rough day yourself - tired from work and getting stuck in traffic as you’d worried about a million little things on the way home.
He groaned as he noticed your expression, finally making his way over to you as he rubbed a hand over the back of your hair softly and gave you a peck on the forehead before plopping down on the couch. You couldn’t help but soften your expression when you felt his calming touches. That was Sangyeon – he was nothing if not instantly calming.
“Tell me where you’re at right now,” he asked of you softly, voice low as if he didn’t want to disturb your quiet. You turned to look at him, your eyes completely drained, and you could see the instant concern that radiated from him as you responded, even through his own tired eyes.
“I’m at like a 3 right now.”
Sometime after the two of you started dating you came up with a system to rate your emotional capacity at any given moment on a scale of 1 to 10. It seemed weird but it was really just a way for you both to quickly gauge how the other was feeling and know whether one of you was able to carry more of the load on any given day. The higher the number, the higher your capacity.
“I’m at a 4,” Sangyeon said immediately, and you gave him a pout.
It seemed like recently whenever you both happened to have bad days he always tried to be just a little higher than you so he could be the one to take care of things – take care of you. He didn’t like for you to worry about him even though you knew he needed to be taken care of too sometimes, just like anyone else. You made a mental note that from now on, you’d say your numbers at the same time.
“Sangyeon. Be honest with me.”
“I’ve had worse days,” he brushed your concerns away, easing around the subject.
You noticed how he didn’t try to insist he was telling you the truth about how he was feeling. Sangyeon always took his words seriously, treating them with a carefulness that almost rivaled how he treated you. He never was one to outright lie, and so after one too many times of buried feelings in the past, you’d learned how to read between the lines of his words. Sure, he may have had worse days, but that didn’t mean today wasn’t a particularly bad one.
You rubbed his arm a few times before shifting closer to him on the couch and resting your head against his chest. He wrapped an arm across your waist and pulled you in even closer, giving you another kiss in your hair as the two of you held each other. His movements comforted you, but you also knew that this was what he did to comfort himself after a long day. Doting on you was how he released his frustration sometimes.
He smelled like the laundry you two did together last weekend mixed with the day’s efforts and a hint of something that you could only describe as uniquely him, and if you were being honest you probably could have fallen asleep right there in his arms. But instead you kept rubbing your hand against his back in that way you knew he liked, hoping he’d relax some more and finally let go of whatever it was he’d been carrying all day like you wanted him to.
Eventually he released a deep sigh at your ministrations, and you felt his muscles relax underneath your palm. You hid the tiny smile that appeared on your lips, burying your head closer into his chest as he finally spoke up.
“Work was just a lot. Has been all week, but especially today.”
You hummed at his words gently.
“Did rehearsal go into overtime again?” And in response you felt him nod against your skin, the crook of his head now pressed into your neck.
“There was this one part we just really struggled to get in sync. And I kept worrying that I was messing up everyone else.” Sangyeon sighed again and you tried to hold onto him even tighter at those words. You knew how much he hated feeling like he wasn’t being a good leader to his group. How much he tended to carry that weight on his shoulders without a single complaint.
“I’m sorry babe. I can tell you’ve had a long day. You must be tired.”
“I’m sure you’re just as tired as me,” he said then, refusing to let you dismiss your own worries in your attempts to comfort him. Your mind drifted back to all the stuff you’d dealt with today.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” he mumbled into your neck, breaking you out of your train of thought as he kissed the spot gently. You couldn’t help but smile a little at that despite your stress, combing your fingers through the strands at the back of his head as you thought about it for moment before finally responding.
“Not yet,” you answered. “What I really need right now is you. Holding me. Just like this. I missed you so much today.”
Sangyeon didn’t stress it, simply giving you what you asked for. After years of being together, he knew this was just how you were – you kept the complexities of your mind to yourself until you could really articulate what it was you wanted to say. And he was always there when you were finally ready to lay it all on him, even at the most random of times. He was always waiting for you with open arms, and you loved him for that.
“I missed you too. Did you eat?”
He separated himself from your hold just enough to look at you directly then, and you pursed your lips guiltily.
“No…but I did pick up some takeout.”
You had a bad habit of waiting to eat dinner until Sangyeon got home so the two of you could eat together - especially on Fridays, when he had the highest chances of getting back at a decent hour. That meant that sometimes you went without food for longer than was acceptable to him. Not to mention you’d toss and turn all night from the lack of digestion before bed. When you couldn’t sleep he couldn’t either, no matter how tired he was.
You looked up at him sheepishly then and you could tell he was about to scold you, but before he could, the two of you heard the loud rumble of his stomach.
“Uh…” Sangyeon started with his own guilty look.
You giggled, a smirk forming on your lips. The blush on his face was unmistakable as he averted his eyes from yours, rubbing the back of his reddening neck.
“Let’s eat,” you said, taking charge then.
You got up before he could hold you back with those tempting hands of his and began filling up two plates, grabbing water for the both of you as well and making your way back to the couch. He looked at you gratefully as he took a plate from your hands, eager to dig in. The two of you ate in silence, you spooning yourself up servings of kimchi fried rice while Sangyeon dove into a container of noodles and some egg rolls, his favorite from this spot a few blocks away from your place. He finished his food first, like he always did, sipping on his water as he stared over at you reverently.
“What?” You asked as you swallowed another mouthful of rice, a rare moment of self-consciousness bubbling up inside of you.
“I just like seeing you eat well. That’s all.”
He leaned in then and gave you a peck on your lips. It tasted faintly sweet like the sauce from his egg rolls and even though you knew he was trying to be quick you still got lost in it like you did every time he kissed you, closing your eyes for a moment before he pulled away.
“Uh uh, finish eating first and then let’s get ready for bed,” he chided, and you rolled your eyes, trying to finish the rest of your food as quickly as possible.
You’d already showered so once you were done eating you worked on brushing your teeth and cleaning your face as Sangyeon hopped into the shower. The two of you were so used to sharing space by now that you didn’t even blink twice as he took his shirt off before he even reached the bathroom. He finished undressing and slipped into the stream of warm water while you focused on yourself in the mirror, proud that you only peaked at his silhouette through the shower curtains once while he was cleaning up.
You were in bed laying under the sheets with a book in your hands when he finally got out of the bathroom, a look of pure bliss on his face as he put his towel away and made his way over to your shared bed. You could tell that, just as usual, he was feeling much better after a good shower.
He rolled under the sheets before leaning over towards you, his head craning towards your neck as he gave you another kiss there, this one slightly longer. You could feel the softness of his lips and smell the lavender scent of his shampoo, even noticing how smooth and soft the little bits of his skin that touched yours were from the lotion you always urged him to use.
You closed your book immediately and set it on the nightstand because you knew you wouldn’t be able to read a single word with him right beside you like this. Sangyeon shuffled even closer to you then, your shoulders touching as he raised his head to be at eye level again. His large hand landed on your thigh, the rough calluses of his palm contrasting with how gently he touched you and making goosebumps rise on your skin. You knew he was only touching you in a comfort sort of way but somehow it still made butterflies appear in your stomach - just like the first time the two of you ever laid together.
“Thank you,” you said softly as you looked over at him, not wanting to disrupt such a precious moment.
“For what?” he asked, a genuine curiosity lighting up his face.
You just tilted your head and shook it serenely, a tiny sigh leaving your lips.
“For taking care of me. Even when you’re exhausted.”
‘’Of course. I should be thanking you too, you know. I love you.”
He always said those three words so easily, like he was just breathing in air or blinking. They came out on instinct because at this point it was just a fact - he’d known for a while now that you were forever a part of him, simple as that.
You didn’t respond with words, instead leaning in with hooded eyes and cupping the side of his face with your hand. You kissed him softly, trying to tell him how you were feeling with your lips. Words had never come that easily to you.
He tilted his head and intensified the kiss, nipping at your lips a few times but keeping the pace slow and his kisses deep. You could feel his hair pressed against your forehead from how close he was and after a while it just felt like you were melting into each other somehow.
When you finally parted, he finished with another quick peck before quickly turning out the lamp on his side and pulling you into his arms, the two of you making yourselves comfortable as you laid down in bed.
“Come here,” Sangyeon mumbled in playful stubbornness, pulling you impossibly closer as you giggled.
Your head laid on his chest with an arm draped across his waist while his arm was securely wrapped around yours. The pairs of your legs tangled together seamlessly under the sheets as he laid on his back and you on your side, nestled into him.
As your eyes finally drifted closed, a whisper of “I love you too,” slipped from between your lips while your fingers rubbed back and forth across his wide chest, luring you to sleep.
“I know baby. I know.”

Ꮺ CRAZY
pairing . sangyeon x gn!reader about . 590 words, fluff warnings . none! tagging . @gfksn @invuwrld @stealanity (also @winterchimez hi)
usually, you like the rain. today is an exception.
the droplets resounding against the roof only anger your already worked-up self, and you merely lean against the railing in exasperation. after a long day of misery, you simply don't have the strength to hold onto the thin thread about to snap in half. unfortunately, the universe isn't kind enough to take pity on you today, because the sunny weather forecast prediction and the gloomy weather in front of you don't seem to match up, and you're left to hold back tears under the bus stand.
the cold wind whips past your bare skin, and you mentally curse yourself for not listening to your gut and wearing a jacket this morning. the last bus left an hour ago, and your cell phone is dead in your pocket, so the only thing that can save you now is quite literally a miracle.
thankfully, that miracle arrives in the form of lee sangyeon.
"did you forget your umbrella? again?" he asks, standing on the sidewalk in front of you with a blue umbrella in hand. "you could've at least called me."
"the weather forecast said it was going to be sunny," you argue pitifully, knowing that it's very well your fault for not listening to your brain and the clouds in the sky. "and my phone died. why are you even here anyway? your class ended two hours ago."
your friend sighs, tugging your arm so you can stand under his umbrella. he probably noticed that the railing wasn't protecting you very well due to your drenched hoodie, but he doesn't scold you about it. instead, he merely watches you step closer as another cold gust of air makes its way between you two.
"i was looking for you. we were supposed to get coffee today."
"if you wanted coffee that badly, you could've gone without me," you try to joke, although the humor doesn't seem to convey properly through your chattering voice.
he rolls his eyes, wrapping an arm around your side to pull you close as he walks you to his car. for warmth, you tell yourself, but the way you clutch onto the side of his jacket suggests anything but.
"just please charge your phone next time, okay? searching for you for two hours is not how i wanted to spend my day."
your breath hitches.
"are you still cold?" he asks, misinterpreting your breath, "i'm sorry, i should've been there for you. i knew something was wrong when you didn't respond in five seconds like you usually do—"
"you searched for me for two hours?" you interrupt, wide-eyed with surprise. "are you actually crazy? why would you do that? you could've been cozy at home instead of spending two hours in the cold!"
you stop him in the middle of the road, hands on his shoulders as you make eye contact with him. the only sounds you hear are the pitter-patter of the rain against the umbrella and your heavy breathing, but the world around you is drowned out in this moment where only you and him exist. the distance between you two is far too intimate for an argument, but as his gaze flickers down to your lips and back up, you don't even remember what point you're supposed to be proving anymore. if anything, you're far too distracted by the cocky grin he now sports on his face as he leans in to whisper into your ear.
"well if i didn't come to save you, who would?"

Nothing will ever feel as much at home to you as Sangyeon could ever be.
You knew this the moment you told him about how you got the opportunity to work overseas. You remember when it felt like you were fighting endlessly with yourself. Around two years ago, after your weekly date, a loving kiss on your lips and the way Sangyeon would flash you that endearing smile, you thought that everything would be fine. You pushed, what you thought, to be a slim chance that you would be able to work overseas to the back of your mind. At first, you felt crushed about the video interview that you messed up, stuttering and using filler words while you internally scolded yourself for not preparing answers to simple job interview questions. Your head was overloaded with information between things to say and not to say, what would be the best answer and how to play your cards right. In the end, as soon as you pressed the red button on the video call interview, you reached out for your phone to call the first person on your call logs.
Sangyeon remembers that video call, the line of tears cascading down your cheeks as you vent your feelings out. He always waited for you to finish your sentences, nodding along to your words and giving affirming body language to show that he was actively following. Along your stream of words, you didn’t realise that Sangyeon stepped outside in the cold air, his phone at a new low angle and the lights from the buildings were the only reason why you were still able to see his smile across the screen.
“Wait…why are you outside? Where are you going?” You grabbed the new box of tissues from your bedside table, ripping the top part of the box with the dashed lines to help you retrieve a new paper instantly.
“Just grabbing some things.” Sangyeon leisurely answers, bringing the camera closer to his puckering lips, “I’m sure you did amazing, baby. Don’t worry too much, alright? And if you didn’t make it, then I’m sure God has other plans for you.”
You both continue talking over the phone, wiping your eyes, drinking a ton of water and burying yourself underneath the blanket as Sangyeon continues his little errand run. Soon enough, you finally understood why the phone was tilted upwards towards the sky and why Sangyeon didn’t show the things he bought—all the usual things that he would share with you during his random, night errand runs like this one.
It was when he finally brought the phone up to be in line with his face that you recognised the familiar street background that he was walking in. You gasped, throwing your blanket to the floor, and opening the door suddenly to face your parents who looked at you with shocked eyes. They couldn’t even voice out any of their thoughts because you were out the front door as fast as you exited your bedroom door.
Knowing well that you found out about his plan, Sangyeon made a final sprint for your house, the contents inside the plastic bag ruffles and his earphones your excited laughs and words fill his earphones, mixed in with some of your still sniffling sounds from the devastating earlier events.
That night wasn’t the first time that Sangyeon would run over to you with no notice or hesitation but Sangyeon had been going through a tough time with his personal life and you didn’t know that he would still be able to have such energy to take care of you. It’s a miracle that you were able to still go on dates that these days would be impossible to plan. That night was a reminder to you, especially with the way that he lowered his lower body down, wrapped his arms around your waist, and lifted you as he buried his face into the crook of your neck, that you really love your boyfriend and that he has always been your number one supporter.
In his arms, with some final tears that Sangyeon wiped away delicately from your still-red cheeks, you were sure that everything would be fine.
Your tears started because you were stressed but it ended with comfort.
But you got another huge headache about a week later when you got the final results of the interview. It could be the acceptance letter (that you were still sure you weren’t going to get), but you knew that you needed to at least open it, read it and accept whatever result it was to move on with your life. So, you tapped on the notification without much thought and you will forever remember this sentence: We look forward to working with you. You froze then and there, your jaw open in disbelief and your fingers went back to the main email page, pulling the inbox page down to refresh the screen. Lo and behold, you were faced with a challenge that you didn’t bother to think about.
You sprint to Sangyeon’s house as soon as the reality sinks into you. Once again, you left your parent’s house after breaking the news to the owners before leaving. Usually, you would have never been able to run that fast and long without a break. The adrenaline and anxiety took over your whole body, and you let your legs guide you to your boyfriend’s house.
Sangyeon welcomed the news with open arms, his feet adorably tapping on the spot and a deep, soft kiss on your lips that still held his radiant smile. But unlike him, you could only stand at your spot in front of his house and give him a reluctant smile. To this, his smile drops and so did the arms that were in the air a moment ago to celebrate this new journey of yours. The vertical lines between his eyebrows made itself evident and you could only respond with a series of head-shaking and quivering lips.
“Hey…” He cradles the back of your head with one hand, the other on your cheek as he steps forwards towards you, “What’s wrong? You’ve always wanted this.”
Your arms surrounded Sangyeon’s lower body tightly, taking a handful of his sweater and your cold nose slowly became warmer thanks to his body temperature, “I know. But now that it’s happening, I’m having second thoughts.”
He continues to dig further into your thoughts, wanting to understand your feelings more and why you were having second thoughts about something you worked so hard for, “Do you want to elaborate further now? Or do you want to come inside first?”
“If I say the latter, will you cuddle with me?”
This is the you that he knows: the one that would always wish for a kiss, then a cuddle and then another kiss. You lift your face from his chest, increasing the distance between you both slightly. Sangyeon sees the sparkle in your eyes and the slight pout on your lips when you look up at him with a silent plea for a positive answer to your question.
Who was he to refuse and break your heart like that?
Plus…he wanted to cuddle with you as much as you did.
And so with the support of your loving family, chaotic friends and encouraging boyfriend, you packed up, headed onto the new country alone and started a new, independent life. Thankfully, you were able to find a place close to your workplace and the foreign place became your home quickly with your three kind housemates. Splitting the chores around the house, cooking, and establishing times to use the washing machine was never a problem. Living in the same house made it easier for you all to spend some time and get to know each other better, leading to routine Friday nights to be spent with each other, going on road trips and eventually overseas trips.
Your workplace has been rewarding as you found the same good qualities of your housemates in most of your co-workers. From day one, everyone has welcomed you to their lives with open arms and you knew for sure that these people wouldn’t be the reason that you would ever have to leave to go back home.
“It’s just so unfair.” It was the company, the workplace and the conditions that they put you in. The logic didn’t make sense: the place was understaffed yet they won’t hire any new people. Of course, there were many underlying factors around it, but after being so overworked, adapting to the new culture, being homesick and, your body trying its best to adjust to the new season changes that you would never have to deal with back home, it was inevitable that you were going to break down soon, “Why? Just why do they have to do that?”
“I’m so sorry you’re going through that.” Oh how much Sangyeon just wanted to jump out of the screen and hug you tight. When was the last time he ever got to do that anyway? He missed having you in his reach—his favourite love language not being able to be expressed for about half a year now, “Hang in there, baby. I know you can do this. Stay strong, hm?”
Through your blurred vision, you could still make out his sorrowful smile, his hand that just hovers the top of the camera on his phone as if to recreate the feeling that he was touching the side of your head.
Perhaps, the worst part of being away from home is your inability to ever interact with them in real-time. The time difference made it too exhausting for everyone on the other side of the world to communicate with you properly. Sure, there were rare days when they could, but the way their moon would rise when the sun said its greetings here made you swallow down your tears at night, forcing you to reassure yourself that ‘everything is going to be fine.’ Because of this, it was a routine for you to drown in your thoughts throughout the day, waking up with a heavy head and heart from the previous nights as you plaster on a weak but still genuine smile when you greet your coworkers.
With the help of your housemates, your family and Sangyeon have managed to surprise you on both of your birthdays as well as some gaps between their schedules. Those memories would be the ones you would replay in your head as you cry your heart out in the middle of the bed that’s in the middle of the room, in the middle of the night.
Other than the visits and calls, the only things that would connect you to them are the daily pictures and videos. At the very least, they captured the lives of the ones you love back home. Unlike the memories that you could only see and keep for yourself, the physical evidence of their smiles is another big source of comfort for you, especially when all you wanted during your lonely walk home was just life updates from the people that you love most. Somewhere along the way though, the pictures and videos became too much for you, and you start to imagine what the picture would be like if you filled up the negative space within it.
How would it be like to share that laughter, smile and experience of the atmosphere that the picture manages to capture? What was the air around there like? Humid? Cold? Warm? Aromatic? Or maybe perhaps, would you have been too entranced by Sangyeon’s presence that the only thing you could smell was his signature perfume mixed in with his laundry detergent?
How would it feel just to have Sangyeon’s shoulder pressed up against yours whenever he has that habit of putting an arm around your back to grab the opposite side of your waist? To have his bigger hand securely intertwine with yours? To have him press a kiss on the side of your head after he whispers ‘I love you forever’ to your ears—knowing well that you were the only one in the world that he would ever confess that phrase intimately to.
How would it feel like to just have the familiar buildings of your neighbourhood, your city and the familiar murals or paintings in your life again? Would it be more comforting than the pictures of the same scenery on your phone? Would your heart be more at ease walking in the night even if all the lights were off or there were no signs of life?
As an answer to your thoughts, after two years of learning, gaining life experiences and missing the air of your home, you bravely decided not to pick up the pen on the table and sign your initials on the new contract paper.
You decided: I’m going home.
It’s been a really wild ride. A ride that you would never exchange for anything else. For one, you made friends from the other side of the world. Friends that you knew you could always hit up and visit if you ever come back. Two, it was real when people say that ‘the distance makes the heart grow fonder’. Sangyeon has always been the boyfriend who would cry and carry his burden alone but would always welcome your hardships into his life. Before, even though you could pick up some of the signs on some occasions, the limited video calls allowed you both to pour your feelings out, exchanging confessions and true thoughts. Had you not been across the world, you were confident that Sangyeon would step out of his shell eventually but you were thankful that the distance did its job healthily and your relationship with him strengthened with the tears and chuckles that he showed.
When the time came and you finished training the new worker who would soon be taking your place in the company, you did your final preparations before stepping out of the house that sheltered you for two years. Final goodbyes, tears being shed, words of affirmation and promises for occasional updates were made before you drove off to the airport. Rolling down the car window, you twist your upper body to face the back of the car, your hand waving up in the air.
The ride to the airport is bittersweet. You put your phone down after texting Sangyeon that you would call him when you pass through security. All you wanted to do at this moment was to look out the windows and take in the colours of the journey, half-scared that the scenery might turn monochrome soon if you didn’t pay close attention.
Keeping your promise, you connected your earphones and turned on your camera to be faced with Sangyeon leisurely lying in bed, one hand on the back of his head on the headboard, blinking his eyes to fight the sleep from his system.
“You should sleep.”
Sangyeon shakes his head, straightening his back and sitting up. He takes a deep breath, his chest expanding in volume as he does so, “You only have a few minutes before you have to go anyway. I can stay awake and accompany you.”
“You’re the best, you know that?”
Thankfully, you found a seat for yourself in the busy atmosphere. You place your backpack on the floor in front of you between your legs, being mindful of the other passengers in the busy airport who most probably had a long day before this, now having to spend overnight in a metal column.
“Love that hoodie on you. Where’d you get it?” Sangyeon wiggles his eyebrows playfully and you roll your eyes, “Good to know that you didn’t leave it behind.”
“I would be crazy to leave this behind.” You pull on the strings of the hoodie, fastening the circumference of the hood around the outline of your face, pouting cutely to your boyfriend who just laughs at you fondly.
“Can’t wait to hold you.” That sentence holds so many meanings and tugged on your heartstrings so much. It hurt for a bit to hear him say that, especially when his voice sounded so tired, “I love you so much.”
“I love you so much.” You whisper to the microphone, holding the tears that you didn’t want to show to your friends throughout the whole week, “I miss you so much. I can’t wait to go on physical, real-life dates again.”
“A few more hours.” He reminds the both of you, holding on just a little bit longer, “Everything will sort itself out then.”
That’s right.
A few more hours until you will both be able to be in the same space again. Just a little bit more before you’ll be able to steal a kiss from his lips whenever and wherever.
You can’t wait to be back in the comfort of your bed, saying ‘goodnight’ to your parents and slipping out of your windows shortly after to meet Sangyeon at the convenience store.
You can’t wait to spend some time with his mum—who he gets very jealous of sometimes—and steal more childhood, baby pictures of him. Along with that, you can’t wait for his mum to let you sneak into his room to steal some of his clothes.
You can’t wait to see his blushing face as he freezes between the doorframe when his eyes land on how his sleeves would completely cover your arms, and your thighs and expose a little bit of your shoulders.
You can’t wait for him to scoop you up in his strong arms, eliciting your series of squeals and giggles that he has fallen deeply in love with.
You can’t wait for him to tuck you in bed, pulling his blanket up to your chin. He would then frame his larger body over yours throughout the night, making you sleep deeper and better. But your night, wouldn’t be complete until you delicately kiss him on his chin, cheek and lips. His night wouldn’t be complete either until he kissed your forehead, nose and lips, taking his sweet time on the last body part.
Most importantly, the night wouldn’t be complete overall until your lips part each other and exchange ‘I love you’s.
As soon as you landed, the adrenaline of finally being in the same country, the same land, the same building knocked out the jetlag and you were suddenly wide awake. You felt a bit bad for the bottom of the seat in front of you and your backpack which was violently ripped out from its peace, but you would like to think that they would understand your sudden burst of energy. You race and slip yourself between the bodies of people who were most probably confused and amazed by how much your eyes were darting around the conveyor belt so quickly, trying to find your check-in baggage—but you didn’t care.
You care about is Lee Sangyeon.
Now, you passed through every security check, every random bag inspection, opening and relocking up all your luggage again one by one, your patience running out by the minute.
But it’s okay.
Because now, only one glass door stands in the way between you and all the people waiting on the other side.
You watch from the distance as the automatic door opens and closes through other passengers. You were even able to catch a glimpse of some of your fellow flight passengers who spotted their loved ones immediately in the crowd, their hands releasing the handle brake of their trolley when they rushed into the crowd. Their loved ones cry and gasp at the presence that they have been so desperate for, their bodies swaying side to side to keep some of their emotions regulated in public.
Oh, how you know you wouldn’t be able to hold in your tears.
Exhaling and inhaling a couple more times, your hands grip the handle of your trolley, doing a final baggage check that everything is securely held in place and that you didn’t leave anything. Finally, you push the handle to release the brake and you start to walk over to the translucent glass doors.
Time didn’t slow down.
It just felt still.
It didn’t stop though—it just felt still.
You could hear your heartbeat through your ears, your palms were sweating in nervousness and you could barely feel the ground that you were walking on with every step of your feet. The gush of wind pushes your hair back dramatically and your eyes water at the cooler air from the other side of the door. Metal barricades separate the arriving passengers from the crowd from both sides of your body and you force your teared-up eyes to carefully scan through the rows of the crowds and the signs that they held up. Your back straightens to accommodate your eyes’ effort in addition to your lips that move in the shape of the name of the person you miss the most. Unfamiliar faces fill your visual field and your feet finally take you to the end of the barricade, heart feeling heavy at the unsuccessful event to pick out anyone in the crowd that you know.
But then…
“Found you.”
His appearance explains why you were unable to quickly pick him out from the crowd if you didn’t focus on detail. Sangyeon grins at your shocked facial expression, watching your eyes slowly lift from the bouquet in his hands to the freshly black dye on his hair.
“Y-You—”
“What do you think?” His pointer and thumb raise to twirl a bit of his hair, his eyes still on you, “You always said that I would look good with black hair.”
“Good?” Oh, he knew what kind of effect this is having on you and he’s having fun with this, “Sangyeon, you—”
His facial expression softens straightaway when the tears that you’ve been holding for so long finally drop to the ground and he strides forwards immediately as soon as he catches a glimpse of your quivering lips. Forget about the flowers, forget about the people around you, forget about how you were standing in the middle of the walkway. He sets his ‘welcome back’ gifts on top of your things, swiftly wrapping an arm behind your shoulders while the other one cups your cheeks.
Sangyeon held your shaking body against his tightly, and it was good that he did, otherwise, you would surely be on the floor. You relished in the scent that you missed the most, purposely taking in deep breaths to ground yourself back to the present. The boy smiles at the realisation, letting your free cheek cutely rest on his chest. He hushes you softly, the swiping motion of his thumb on your cheek giving you a physical reminder of his presence—a reminder that he is with you at this very moment. Multiple kisses were pressed on your forehead in an attempt to calm you down and responded with a whimper as you tried to form words.
“It’s okay.” It really is, “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
Your body responded to his affirmation, your arms finally wrapping around his waist, the tips of his fingers just barely intertwining behind his back. Your palms lay flat on his smooth leather jacket and your ragged breathing found a stable pace once again. The increased oxygen in your blood allows you to finally feel Sangyeon’s plump lips on your forehead and the blush begins to form across your cheekbones.
“You’re really here.”
“I am.” You feel the way his chest vibrates at his deep chuckle.
That’s all he said and it’s way more than enough. Eyes closed, in Sangyeon’s embrace, his familiar scent, his lips hovering on your eyelids to press kisses there—everything is starting to feel like home.
“You look handsome.” For the first time since you arrived, you finally look at this new hair colour properly. Your eyebrows furrow, almost a look of dissatisfaction and disapproval, “Too handsome.” This time, one of your eyebrows raised at the way he responded with a teasing smile, “How many people asked you out already?”
“Honestly,” He starts to act, tightly closing his eyes as if to think very hard. He prolonged his hum with the way you glared at him cutely, wanting to tease you for longer, “quite a lot.”
The answer made you scoff, tilting your head away and you started to pull away from his embrace. Sangyeon didn’t let you walk away fully though for he pulled you right back to his body. Your hands attempt to stabilise your body the sudden act by resting on the curves of Sangyeon’s shoulders. The playful look in his eyes disappears and the extra layer of moisture shows itself—it tells you that he has been waiting for the only person to ever see his tears to be within his arms again. Both his hands rest on your waist and your own eyes search for the emotions behind his, a hand wiping his lower eyelid. That act makes a tear fall before another one falls and it soon becomes a fountain of emotions for the older male.
“I missed you. So much.” The way that Sangyeon puts so much emphasis on the second and fourth words sent chills down your spine.
Your hand on his shoulder slides upwards to cup his face, the other downwards to do the same on the other side. With all the strength you have left in your legs, you put your weight on your toes, fluttering your eyelids close and lifting your body to press a longing kiss to his lips. You tasted his tears on the curves on his lips, but knowing well that it stemmed from love, made your heart slowly start to heal. Sangyeon reciprocates immediately, travelling his hands to the side curves of your body, stopping at your neck, gently tilting your face upwards to deepen the kiss. The kiss sweetly alternates with his own hugging your bottom lips, pulling away for oxygen, a little ‘I love you’ and diving back in to hug your upper lips.
This is what home feels like.
It’s not some building or some land that could be pointed out on a map. It’s not necessarily the photos and videos that you received, even though they comforted you on cold nights. It’s not necessarily the rushed talks and recounts of your lives because the second hand on the clock mocked the little time you would always have, even though you were thankful that you had that small gap to do so.
It’s actually experiencing all of the above, going through all those trials, all those confusing emotions, and still feeling love and support. It’s being able to just walk with defeat over the day’s work but as soon as you arrive back home, the feeling either washes away or you’re able to just vent it and cry it out.
With the right people, you were able to let these experiences turn into lessons and precious memories—similar to how there are specific bricks to build the proper structure of a house. As those experiences build, so does the clear image and structure of a house. Sure, houses break down due to inside and outside factors but when it does, you’re confident that you can work it out and make it stronger.
With those thoughts in mind, the corner of your lips tugged upwards and no words were needed for Sangyeon to know that the smile wasn’t mischievous, teasing or playful.
It’s one full of relief and happiness.
“Welcome home.” Sangyeon changes his words between your kisses.
You hum, waiting for the next time he pulls away to give a proper response.
“I’m home.”

wc 579 ‧ genre fluff, comfort ‧ pairing sangyeon x reader ‧ cece’s note this is not therapy i swear he’s just husband shaped. i’m merely sharing a vision <3
Tumblr media
“is everyone asleep?”
not everyone. you’d woken up in the middle of the night to a dry mouth and an empty space in your bed, patting around the person shaped print left in the sheets to feel nothing but soft fabric between your fingers. groggy and still half asleep, you'd forced your body up to investigate why. oh, and get water, too.
birthday parties always left everyone in a state of near exhaustion, your friends left in amusingly compromising positions of sleep, and you knew you’d be subject to mumbles and groans on neck and back pain when the sun came up. lucky for you, nearly all of them are deep sleepers, so they don’t budge when you shift them all into somewhat better positions.
halfway through pulling a blanket over changmin, you find you aren’t the only one awake in your home.
the light in the kitchen is soft against the dark edges of night, and like a moth to flame, it draws you in. socked feet muffling your footsteps, you’re pulled towards the light, but stop when you hear a voice.
“should be… everyone’s been out cold for at least an hour, even the ones i thought would be restless.”
peeking through the archway separating the kitchen from the parlor, your greeted with the sight of your husband—er, fiancé’s—back, quietly conversing with someone else above the quiet hissing of the kettle somewhere out of view. a slight shift tells you it’s juyeon, lanky form splayed over your counters languidly. exhaustion hangs over the two like a cloud, drawing their shoulders down with gravity.
of course sangyeon would will himself to get up if one of his own couldn’t sleep. selfless as always. warmth blossoms in your chest like spring even against the cold.
juyeon mumbles something quiet about waking him up, but your fiancé quickly dismisses the fact. he’d once told you no one deserved to be up and alone at night with nothing but their own thoughts, rethinking choices they had made prior to that moment. it’s a snowball effect. you blink, and hours have passed and you find yourself buried underneath an avalanche of your own making. you hadn’t realized the true weight of his words until now.
the sweet smell of herbs fill the kitchen soon, and amidst pouring tea for the both of them, the comfort of the setting heightens tenfold. you, too, find yourself getting a bit drowsy.
“do you want to talk whatever’s on your mind?”
a slight rustle indicates the other’s no, followed by a promise to ease his worries when he’s had a proper night’s rest. conversation lulls to something serene.
not wanting to interrupt the moment, you slowly turn on your heel and pad back to your shared bedroom, pulling the covers back to your chin in wait. he was needed more downstairs, and you wouldn’t disrupt the clearly needed support he was giving.
time ticks on forward, framed by what you’re sure are just slow blinks proven wrong by the handful of minutes that pass with each close of your eyes. the sheets rustle after an hour passing, gently as to not disturb your half-asleep state. though tired, warmth spreads across your skin like earlier.
“water is on the bedside table for when you wake up,” comes his familiar voice, doused in comfort, as always.

“how do you lose a four year old?” you ask your husband, your voice a little loud.
you had just gotten home from a long nine hour day at the office, full of important meetings throughout the day with tons of paperwork. you had been on your way home from work when you got a call from sangyeon, his voice sounding worried. he started to exclaim how he lost your four year old daughter somewhere throughout the house after dinner.
“did you give her dessert?” you asked him, turning the corner and driving down the road to your home.
sangyeon’s worried and deep voice rang throughout the bluetooth speakers in your car. “i gave her one of those ben and jerry pints-“
“a whole pint?”
“yeah..?”
you sigh, pulling into the driveway and parking right behind his car. “a whole pint is too much sugar, that’s why i only give her half at most, especially at night. she gets too hyper.”
unbuckling your seatbelt, you hear another shout of your daughter's name from the other end. with a sigh, you quickly grab your work bag and rugs inside the house and hang up on sangyeon. as you’re unlocking the front door, you can continuously hear him yell out her name and him running frantically around downstairs. once inside, you take off your heels and toss your bag next to the coat rack. you run towards the sound of sangyeon calling out for her and see his physique.
his hair was disheveled and sticking up in multiple directions, his once white tee now stained with brown dots you had hoped were melted chocolate chips. his navy blue sweatpants were overtly wrinkled with one pants leg a bit higher than the other. when he heard your footsteps and turned around to face you, his eyes wide in hopes it was jiae, you couldn’t help but let out a small fit of laughter at his chaotic look.
“where was the last place you saw her?” you asked him, taking a step forward and fixing his hair on your tiptoes before peaking through the room next to him.
he looks through the room with you, then not seeing her and growing more frantic. “she got up and screamed ‘catch me if you can, i’m spider-man!’ as we were watching spongebob and since then i couldn’t find her. that was maybe an hour ago-“
bingo! you knew exactly where she was. you just rushed down the hall to the sun room and noticed it was already unlocked. a warm breeze hit you as you entered and walked towards jiae’s toy chest, then knocking on it four times. sangyeon followed closely behind you, watching every move you made. he had checked the sun room prior but not the toy chest, so he raised a curious brow as you knocked.
a high pitched giggle was heard from inside as you knocked, then it opened it up on the final knock and there sat your small four year old. her toothy smile and boisterous laughter filled the room as you lifted her from the toy chest and held her in your arms with a smile.
“hey silly girl!” you spoke with a grin, kissing her forehead as she calmed down in your arms. “i heard you were playing spider-man with daddy and had ice cream?”
jiae nodded happily, letting out a small yawn before she responded. “we did! but he’s not as good at it as you are, i started getting sleepy in there.” her lips formed a pout as she looked over at sangyeon, playfully narrowing her eyes at him.
“hey!” he said defensively, walking over to her and kissing the top of her head before ruffling up her hair. “how was i supposed to know we were playing spider-man?”
“it’s in the name, silly.” she lets out another yawn after finishing her sentence. sangyeon then takes her from your arms and starts walking out of the room and towards her room to tuck her in.
you follow behind them as they bicker back and forth, both of their voices sounding exhausted. you both say your goodnights to jiae and eventually close her bedroom door after she cuddled up to her stuffed bunny that normally helped her fall asleep faster. after her bedroom door is closed, you just look at sangyeon and let out a small fit of laughter as you walk to the kitchen.
“what’s so funny?” he asks, wrapping an arm around your waist and bringing you into his side as you both walked side-by-side.
you wrapped an arm around his waist too, looking up at him. “have you never played spider-man with her before?”
he shakes his head, his eyes looking down to meet yours as he lets out a chuckle. “i didn’t even know the game existed until today.”
you both enter the kitchen and let go of one another, sangyeon allowing you to walk to the fridge and grab the leftovers from dinner to eat up for yourself. as you’re walking towards the microwave, he grabs the plate from you and puts the food to heat up for you. you just allow him, leaning against the kitchen island and crossing your arms across your chest as you watch him.
“what’s the concept of the game anyway?” he asks, turning around to face you as the food heats up behind him.
you shrug, grinning. “you’ll find out sooner than later.”
he groans and drags himself over to you, wrapping his arms around you and nuzzling his head into your hair with a deep sigh. “she’s going to give me grey hairs before i know it.”
you lean your head back so you’re both looking at each other, a smile playing on your lips as his face looks visibly exhausted. “just learn to play spider-man and you’ll be fine, old man.”
jiae is heard from her bedroom upstairs, calling out for her daddy. just as sangyeon kisses your forehead and rushes out of the kitchen, he microwave beeps signaling the food is finished heating up. as you’re eating your food and scrolling through your phone aimlessly at the dining table, you suddenly hear singing from your daughters bedroom.
upon hearing the singing, you creep upstairs quietly and listen in around the corner and observe your husband singing jiae to sleep. some nights she would have a hard time sleeping and sangyeon would happily sing her a lullaby; it was something both of them thoroughly enjoyed and sangyeon has been doing since she was just a newborn. you watched in awe until he finished his little serenade, jiae finally fast asleep as her little snores synced with her breathing pattern. when sangyeon got up after kissing her forehead with a final goodnight, he noticed you peeking from the door frame and smiled over at you.
he quietly made his way towards you and closed the door quietly behind himself as he exited her bedroom for the night. wrapping his arms around your waist, he pulled you in and pecked your lips with a soft smile. “what’s that look for, baby?”
“let’s have another one.”
his eyes widened with surprise, you having not brought up this topic before. “another… child?” when you nod, he lifts you up gracefully and walks towards your shared bedroom as you laugh quietly into his chest.

a/n: 726 words. a short work because of the rainy weather. hope y'all love this <3
song recommendation
Tumblr media
The room is quiet with a serene ambience as Jacob's arms wrapped around your middle while your back faces him. your hands held over him like an immediate reaction that you had developed as you got used to this habit of him. Jacob snuggled closer to you, leaving one small kiss on the back of your shoulder and breathing in your scent. you slowly woke up, hearing the pitter-patter of rain before you could even see it. as you drowsily blink your eyes, you finally take in the tranquil view beyond the glass door of your bedroom.
The green landscape outside gave a somber feeling to the already lazy afternoon, and the rain decorated the sky, leaving your glass doors foggy with drizzle. You feel Jacob's breath on your nape and shoulder. The shuddering feeling leaves you smiling, turning around to face the warm body behind you.
A smile crossed your lips. He looks comfortable with his hair down, cute with sleepy features across his face, and warm with how he's snuggling into you right now. as if you weren't close enough, he snuggled more, his hands rested on the small of your back as he caressed it gently. Without a thought, Jacob's face leans closer to you, eyes still closed, and lips leaving a peck on your forehead. when he realizes that you're now facing him, his eyes open, still sleepy from the cold weather.
You giggled, "Still sleepy?" You asked in a whisper. Jacob responded with a shy grin, his cheeks painted with pink.
Jacob hummed, "It feels cold." He says as he snuggles closer, pulling you into his warmth until your cheeks rest on his chest. You chuckled at his excuse to hug you tighter.
"Is this warm enough?" You asked as you let yourself listen to his heartbeat. His plain white shirt felt soft and comfortable over his toned chest. "Hm..." Jacob hummed again in agreement, "Do you still want to take a road trip?" He asked, voice gentle as ever.
It is a request you have asked since you came here. The roads fascinated you during your travels so you wanted to capture more of those views while on a lovely drive with your boyfriend. The strikingly beautiful scenery of the mountains acted like a curtain hiding another beautiful scenery of the sea and sky, where the road you were driving in was a stage. The shore below the mountains intermingled with the green patches of an exquisite beach.
However, as you get ready in the morning, the rain didn't stop so it hindered the two of you from going on a ride. The gloomy sky painted the bright scenery with dark clouds.
You didn't complain though. There's no way this gets more comfortable with the two of you just feeling each other's warmth. You can't deny that Jacob has always made you feel at home, like he's your safe place. It's the same for Jacob. Both of you prefer a peaceful time with just the two of you. Talking about yourselves, your memories and your dreams, and sometimes you let silence fill the place but you're both still comfortable.
Sometimes you stay at home or go out or take a short drive just anywhere. But this moment is like a photo captured in serendipity. Nothing else in your mind can compete with how safe you feel right now, embracing the love of your life in a cozy bed as you watch the rain drizzle behind your windows with the green terrain from afar.
This is home. It's not always a place, sometimes it's an instance where you just feel safe without worries.
"No," you say as you look up at him. The beat of your heart almost burst when you met his gaze, "can we stay like this for a little more instead?" You pouted, delightfully staring at Jacob's pretty face. He gave you a smile that could have been the brightest thing you've seen for the day.
Jacob lifts his upper body and props his elbow on his pillow. "Alright," he says as he pulls up the blanket and looks at you with a silly expression, "we can stay like this all day, if you like."
"Jakey, what—" It made you smile and laugh, and in a few moments, you're both under the blankets tickling each other and laughter filled the room.
Home. Your person is your home.

jealousy, jealousy
(hyung line) when they get jealous over another member
genre: jealousy, jealousy, jealousy, a lot of kissing, hyunjae is a buff fool in this, im pretty sure you get yanked or yank him in each of these for some reason, slow dancing!!! shy! sangyeon! notes: eric summer fic🫥 word count: 1.7k
sangyeon
“Sangyeon?”
You poked your head outside of the door. Your boyfriend immediately looked up, his hair slightly damp from sweat and his previously focused expression quickly became a foolish, very-in-love one.
“Hi there,” He greeted, his eyes bright simply at the sight of you. He approached you, pulling you into a tight hug. “I missed you.”
“Eugh,” You groaned, pushing him off. “I have your drink balanced in my hand and you’re all sweaty from dance.”
He pouted and took the iced americano from you. “You didn’t say it back.”
You looked at him in disbelief for a second before sighing in defeat. “I missed you too.”
“That’s what I wanted to hear,” He sang, leaning in to press a kiss to your cheek. You laughed bashfully, turning your head slightly. That was when you noticed another man, staring intently at himself in the mirror.
“Hyunjae,” You called out with a wave.
He turned around and he immediately broke out into a friendly smile. “Y/n!” His voice was bright and loud as usual as he approached the two of you. “Actually, now would be a good opportunity to ask you a question.”
You tilted your head.
And to your surprise, he rolled up his sleeve to show off his entire arm. “Do you think I got more muscular?”
You lifted an eyebrow. Hyunjae whined as he brought his sleeve back down.
“Why are you asking me?”
“Because I need another opinion. I worked out a lot for the past few weeks,” He explained. You thought for a second. As a perfectly good, moral friend, you replied earnestly.
“I see a lot of progress.” You patted his shoulder. “Your arm… muscles look great.”
Hyunjae nodded in satisfaction. “I treasure your opinion.” And then he was off to buy a snack from the vending machine. With an amused smile, you turned back to Sangyeon, only to be met with the most adorable pout in the world. His eyebrows were furrowed as he searched your eyes with sorrow.
“Sangyeon?”
“What about me?”
You paused. And then you burst out into laughter. But, before you could respond, he was pulling you out and into the hallway. You watched him with a fond smile.
“Jealous?”
He only replied with an embarrassed silence. You chuckled.
“I think that your muscles are amazing,” You exaggerated. Sangyeon groaned, leaning forward to pull you into a hug so that he could hide his face.
“What else do you like?” He whispered. In the corner of your eye, you could see that the tips of his ears were red.
“Mmm…” You hummed. “Your lips?”
He pulled away at that, and he gazed at you, or moreover–your lips–with a sultry expression. “Oh really?” He muttered, leaning in. You sputtered slightly, completely forgetting your past remark about him being sweaty. In fact, he looked very attractive like this.
And before you could even say a “yes,” he was already leaning in, pressing a deep kiss to yours.
jacob
Humming happily to yourself, you and Jacob were cuddling in bed until you were interrupted by an excited yell from the living room.
“Y/n!” Kevin’s voice called out loudly. “C’mere! There’s a new music video!”
You widened your eyes, turning to look at Jacob who was only staring back at you with soft eyes. He always said that he enjoyed seeing you happy and excited.
“Go,” He mumbled. You smiled and practically jumped out of his arms to run over to Kevin who had turned on the video of your shared favorite music artist. The two of you laughed hysterically as you watched and soon enough, you found yourself dancing with him, holding up fake microphones to sing.
Grasping hands, jumping up and down, you and Kevin, as perfectly good best friends, danced to the music. Little did you know, Jacob was watching from around the corner. Though he half enjoyed watching you have fun, he also half didn’t enjoy seeing you have fun with someone else.
Once the music video was over, you looked over to Jacob who was watching with a serious expression. Slightly out of breath, you walked over, only for him to take you by the wrist and whisk you away privately.
“Is everything okay?” You frowned.
He shook his head. “No. I’m jealous.”
Your jaw almost dropped open at his words. He was never one to be so straightforward. But then your eyes softened as you cupped his jaw with your hand.
“Don’t be, you know that I love to dance with you the most.”
“Really?” He narrowed his eyes skeptically. “Because we never have before.”
“Then let’s do it now.”
“Aren’t you tired from all that dancing?” His gaze was gentle and kind.
You shook your head with an eager smile, taking his hand in yours and leading him to the middle of the room. Slowly, you began to slow dance with him, swaying and holding him close to his chest.
“Oh,” He breathed out, a smile growing on his lips. “We should do this more often.”
You smiled, resting your cheek against his chest. “I think so too.”
It was silent for a moment, just the two of you stepping side to side, embracing each other’s warmth.
“I love you,” Jacob whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
You grinned, leaning up to instead kiss his lips. “I love you too.”
younghoon
“Ouch,” Younghoon muttered, massaging the spot on his chest where you had just run into.
You frowned. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to bump into you.” You cupped his cheeks, pressing small kisses all over. He was about to lean in to press his lips to yours until you heard a familiar cackle from down the hallway.
Panicking, you looked up at your boyfriend. “I have to go. Changmin’s going to get me.” And before he could even utter a response, you were already running to hide in another room. It was a simple game of chase between friends. Neither of you knew who even started it.
Younghoon watched silently as you laughed dearly when Changmin had found you. His heart warmed at the sight of your beautiful smile but, there was a frown on his lips when he saw how it was his own friend who made you giggle. With a sigh, he walked away, devising a quick plan in his head.
Breathing heavily, you burst into an empty room, trying to find a place to hide. Just as you walked past the walk-in closet, you felt a gentle, familiar hand grab onto your wrist and pull you in. With a yelp, you found yourself pressed up right against to Younghoon’s chest.
Before you could even ask him what was wrong, his hand was on your waist as he brought you into a soft kiss, tilting his head lightly. You were confused, but you easily melted into the kiss with a small smile.
“Younghoon…” You whispered, pulling away with a shy expression.
He lifted an eyebrow with an adorable frown, his hair slightly messy. “You’re having fun, aren’t you?”
You noticed that his voice was laced with obvious sarcasm and so you stared at him in utter disbelief. And then you broke out into fond laughter.
“Are you jealous?” You questioned, letting your hand trail down to his.
His frown only deepened, making you grin more. “...yes.”
“You’re so cute.” You smiled. “You know that you’re the only one for me, right?” He nodded silently and so you pressed your lips to his again. He let out a satisfied hum as he leaned in even deeper.
Stumbling out of the closet, red-cheeked and out of breath, the two of you looked up, only to see Changmin standing outside. He grimaced.
“Ew, oh my god,” He groaned before sticking his tongue out. “I won by the way. Since you got distracted.”
hyunjae
“Can you turn on the speaker?” Hyunjae appeared behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you into a tight back hug. “We have to practice.”
You eyed him with faux annoyance. “If you would let me go, I will.”
He smiled cheekily, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. “In a minute.”
Sticking your tongue out, you wriggled out of his hold and approached the speaker, only to find it in the worst spot possible. Reaching in the weirdest angles, you couldn’t quite get the button. Immediately, Hyunjae, who always had his eyes on you, noticed.
“I can do it–” He called out.
“Here you go.” Sangyeon suddenly appeared beside you, getting the switch with ease. Smiling up at him, you thanked him.
“Such a gentleman,” You joked.
He rolled his eyes, walking away. “That’s my nature,” He remarked.
You laughed and walked back over to Hyunjae, only to find him looking at you with those puppy eyes. His lips were also pulled into a small frown.
“Hyunjae?”
He stayed silent, turning away grumpily. With a sigh, you took his hand and pulled him out of the practice room and into a separate room made for singing.
“What’s wrong?” Your eyes softened.
“I don’t know,” He grumbled, his voice uncharacteristically quiet. “Why don’t you ask Sangyeon?”
That was when it suddenly hit you, your lips parting in surprise. Biting back a fond smile, you stepped forward and hugged him. He only sulkily looked down at you and refused to return it.
“You're… jealous?” You grinned. Immediately, he was blushing with a huff of breath. He tried to avoid your eyes but you only persisted, following his gaze. Finally, with a small squirm, he nodded.
You laughed as you leaned in to hide your face in his chest.
“Then can you maybe help me with something?”
Pulling away, he looked at you with excitement as if to tell you that he would do anything for you. Which he certainly would.
“What is it?”
You hummed with a mischievous smile. “My lips are feeling a bit unoccupied.”
He chuckled with a small smirk. “Gladly. Of course I’ll help you with that.” He pressed a kiss to your lips, holding you tightly by the waist. By the time he was done, your lips felt sore. He only smiled proudly at his effect.
“Would Sangyeon be able to do that for you?”
“No," You mumbled, your cheeks flushing.
“The only correct answer,” He teased before kissing you again.

Summer 2
You speed-walk from your farm to the mountains, a box full of peaches in your hand. It’s the middle of the summer and the sapling you planted in the spring has finally grown some peaches. You hurry up past the backwoods, eager to get yourself to the carpenter's shop.
Some months ago, you overheard Sangyeon tell Changmin that he’s super excited for the summer season. He was going on and on and on about how he loves peaches and can’t wait for peach season to start. Your handy-dandy farmer mind picked up on that little tidbit and you decided that you were going to grow peaches in the summer. Something special just for Sangyeon.
Sangyeon was your first friend when you moved to Stardew Valley over a year ago. He showed you around, he helped clean your farm, and he introduced you to all his friends. And ever since you moved in, you two grew close. He was quite actually your best friend. And somewhere along the line, your feelings for him turned into something a little more. His feelings for you changed as well.
The carpenter’s shop finally comes to view and your face breaks out into a smile. You’re excited to give Sangyeon his gift. You walk up to the door and balance the box of peaches in your arm to swing open the door. You peer in to see Sangyeon sitting at the cash register. Your heartbeat quickens, happy to see him again.
“Hey there y/n!” His lips pull into a smile as you walk into the shop. “What would you like to take a look at? It’s all the same stock from yesterday, unfortunately.” He questions you as you walk closer to the counter, taking note of the box in your arms. You realize that you did indeed come in yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that. Most days you come in to grab supplies for your farm, other days you come in just to see Sangyeon.
“I actually brought something for you today.” You look down at the box sheepishly. You’re embarrassed to realize that you’ve been going to shop so often. It’s kind of odd that you’ve been coming in everyday for almost a week. You place the box down on the counter for Sangyeon to look into. He lifts the flaps and his jaw drops. You brought him almost 2 dozen peaches.
“How did you know that I love peaches?” Sangyeon grabs one from the box, inspecting it. It looks absolutely perfect. He 's amazed to see that you brought so many for him, his heart swelling at the idea of you working so hard to grow and pick peaches for him. “You didn’t have to do this for me!”
“I-uh overheard you talking to Changmin about how you love the peach season and that you were looking forward to it this year.” Your cheeks heat up as you recall what you heard. You hear him laugh lightly at your explanation. “And it’s no worries! You do so much for me so I thought I’d do this for you.” You grip the counter with a shy smile. You’re happy to hear that he enjoys your gift. Maybe you’ll do this every peach season.
“Well then, thank you. I’m grateful.” Sangyeon speaks softly, gazing into your eyes. “I’m so glad you think of me.”
‘I always think about you.’ You want to tell him but fear punches you in the gut. You would rather just give him his gifts and pine than say something and ruin your friend. So instead, you just ramble on and on about the growing process of peach trees.
If only you knew that Sangyeon thinks about you always too.
Fall 2
You speed-walk from the mines to the carpenter shop with a giddy smile on your face. Juyeon and Sunwoo are hot on your tail, trying their best to keep up with you. The three of you were mining in the local cave when you found a bunch of quartz scattered around. You feel excited to bring them to Sangyeon.
Sangyeon had mentioned in passing that he thought quartz was beautiful. He talked about how he would often ask Juyeon and Sunwoo to bring back some for him if they ever find any in the caves. So, your little miner brain saved that small itty bitty tidbit for the next time you went venturing into the local mines.
“Slow down! Your boyfriend is not going anywhere!” Sunwoo huffs as he runs to catch up to you, lagging behind because he’s holding your mining equipment. Sunwoo and Juyeon are just two of the people that know about your obvious crush on Sangyeon. Essentially, the entire town knows about your feelings, except for Sangyeon somehow. But the entire town also knows about his feelings too.
“He’s not my boyfriend!” You huff as you hear Juyeon laugh at Sunwoo behind you. Even though you really wish he was your boyfriend, you two are just really good friends and you don’t want to ruin that.
Sunwoo and Juyeon both roll their eyes at you as you all approach the shop. Your shared group of friends are truly getting frustrated at yours (and Sangyeon’s antics). They know that Sangyeon likes you as well but they also know that he’s too scared to share his feelings because he doesn’t wanna ruin your relationship. They all constantly wonder how you two can be so oblivious of each other’s feelings.
You swing open the carpenter’s shop and there he is again, sitting at the cash register. You smile as you see him grin at the three of you. Your heart starts racing like always. How can someone be so beautiful without trying. The three of you walk in and stand by the door, Juyeon to your left and Sunwoo to your right.
“What are the three of you up to?” Sangyeon asks as he stands and walks around the counter. He stops right in front of you, his focus solely on you despite asking all three of you the question.
“Oh I actually have something for you!” You’re ecstatic to show him what you found for him. You shrug your backpack off of your shoulders. “You’re not gonna believe how much of these we found!” You tug the zipper open to reveal a collection of quartz crystals.
“You remembered that I like quartz?” Sangyeon asks in awe, his face in shock and admiration. His heart is ready to burst just thinking about how you so easily remember what he likes. He carefully picks up one from your backpack. “And you got me so many?”
“They were too pretty to only bring one!” You exclaim as you move up to the counter, taking out each crystal one by one to ensure they don’t break. You continue to talk animatedly about the quartz you found, where in the mines you found them, and how Sunwoo and Juyeon also have some but they refuse to give them to you.
‘They’re not as pretty as you.’ Sangyeon wants to say to you but he hesitates. Instead opting to just watch as you recall what happened. He won’t say anything yet, he’ll just enjoy listening to you with admiration in his eyes.
Juyeon and Sunwoo glance at you and Sangyeon, small smiles on their faces as they watch you two interact. They hope and pray that you both come to your senses and finally tell each other your feelings (and finally put them all out of their misery).
Spring 3
It’s yet another day of you speed-walking to the carpenter’s shop. This time Haknyeon and Chanhee are running behind you, complaining about how you’re going too fast. Haknyeon was helping you make goat cheese earlier while Chanhee tagged along for company. After a long hard day of practicing, you made your first batch of goat cheese. And you are so excited to show Sangyeon.
You were recently hanging out as a group when you all started talking about favorite foods. Everyone had mentioned their favorites but your mind, of course, was stuck on Sangyeon’s. He mentioned his love for goat cheese and you knew exactly what you needed to do. Your animal farmer brain said let’s do this. So you reached out to Haknyeon and begged him to teach you how to make goat cheese. He immediately agreed because he knew your intentions from the start but it also gave him an excuse to make goat cheese too.
“They’re crazy.” Chanhee mutters to Haknyeon, who laughs at his comment. The pair run behind you as you take the lead to the mountains. “How did you get so far ahead of us?” He yells after you.
“They’re just so excited to see their boyfriend.” Haknyeon teases you with a loud laugh. Your eyes roll in response while heat creeps on your cheeks. He’s not entirely wrong, you are excited to see him. Sangyeon just isn’t your boyfriend.
“Not my boyfriend!” You yell back at them as you finally take sight of the shop. A sigh of relief leaves your lips as you slow down by the door. You try to catch your breath while your heart races. You try to convince yourself that it’s because of how much you walked, but everyone knows the truth. You wait for Haknyeon and Chanhee to catch up before swinging the door open.
Instead of Sangyeon sitting there like always, you’re met with an empty counter. You walk with a look of confusion. You basically know his schedule by heart so you expect him to be here. You hear Haknyeon and Chanhee mumbling behind you so you turn to face them. Luckily for you, Sangyeon walks through the door at the same time. He looks at the three of you in shock, not expecting you to be there.
“Oh, sorry guys! It’s been a slow day so I went out really quick with Hyunjae to chop some trees by the quarry.” Sangyeon says as you finally take note of him and how he looks. He’s covered in sweat, his hair pushed back so it's out of his face, and he’s holding his axe on his shoulder. Your eyes trail across his arm muscles, suddenly thinking about how he must have looked while chopping trees. You’re pulled out of your thoughts when you hear someone cough. Your eyes shoot up to Sangyeon’s amused ones then to Haknyeon and Chanhee, who are both trying to hold back their laughs. “I hope you weren’t waiting too long.” Sangyeon grins at you as he walks behind the counter to place the axe down.
“Oh uh..” You sputter as you try to pull your thoughts together. “I- uh brought you something.” You quickly take your backpack off, embarrassment running through your veins. You unzip the bag to grab the container of goat cheese from earlier. “I- well we made goat cheese and I brought some for you.” You leave the container on the counter for him, quickly zipping your bag up.
“Y/n, you always remember what I like.” Sangyeon’s eyes meet yours as he looks at you with adoration. He’s been taking note of how you always have something he likes and how you’re always so excited to bring it to him. His heart swells with love everytime he sees you walk through his doors. But he feels like there’s something he should be doing too. “I’ll have something for you next time!”
“Oh, it’s nothing!” You try to downplay it but it’s true. You always remember what he likes and you never hesitate to give it to him. “I just enjoy giving gifts.” You speak softly as you start making your way to the door, Haknyeon and Chanhee following. “So don’t worry about it! I don’t expect anything in return!” You flash him a smile before heading out the door. Truly, you don’t expect anything from him. You’re doing this out of love for him but you’re too scared to admit it.
Sangyeon sighs at your words before glancing at the bouquet of flowers sitting next to the register. Something he should’ve given to right now. He didn’t say anything now but soon. Soon, he’ll make his feelings known. And he’ll bring something for you too.
Summer 3
Sangyeon speed-walks to your farm, a fresh bouquet of flowers in hand. He had gone to Pierre’s shop in town when he ran into the rest of the boys. They were all talking when suddenly the topic changed to you. It’s been over a year since your feelings for the carpenter became prevalent. It’s been well over a year since they realized Sangyeon’s feelings for you. It’s been over a year and still no one has confessed. And the boys were exhausted, they desperately need someone to make a move. They all started telling Sangyeon that it’s time for him to let you know about his feelings. He shared his apprehension, scared that he’ll ruin your friendship. He was met with immediate backlash. They all recounted stories of you talking nonstop about him and of you making excuses to go hang out with him. They even mentioned the constant gifts you give him and how you only give him gifts. With some strong convincing, they handed Sangyeon a bouquet and pushed him to go talk to you.
You’re planting seeds when you notice someone walking through the entrance of your farm. Upon further analysis, you realize that it’s Sangyeon. You rush to get up, wiping your dirty hands on your overalls and swiping at any beads of sweat on your forehead.
“Y/n!” Sangyeon calls out to you as he gets closer to you. He moves the bouquet to hide behind his back, hoping to maybe surprise you the way you’ve surprised him.
“Hey Sangyeon! What brings you here?” You question him, eyeing the way he’s hiding something behind his back. It’s not unusual for Sangyeon to stop by randomly but you take note of how flustered he looked.
“I-uh actually brought you something.” Sangyeon holds out the bouquet of flowers in front of him. “I’ve liked you for a long time now and I’ve actually been meaning to give this to you for a while.” He rubs the back of his neck with his free-hand, embarrassed that he took so long to confess to you. “I know I should’ve told you sooner but I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. And I just want you to know that you don’t have to say yes or anything and honestly, it’s completely okay if you don’t like me back-”
“I like you too!” You cut him off with a smile. Your heart feels like it might burst out of your chest at Sangyeon’s confession. You're surprised to hear that you both were thinking the same thing, that neither of you wanted to ruin your friendship. “I’ve liked you for a while as well. I’m actually surprised you didn’t notice.” You joke with him as you take the bouquet from him, checking out the different flowers in it.
“I kind of noticed…” Sangyeon says, trying to act like he knew the entire time. As if he wasn’t lectured not even an hour ago about how he’s so dumb and oblivious. And you didn’t buy this sudden act either.
“No you didn’t.” You take hold of his hand with your free one. It feels like your hands fit together perfectly.
“Yeah, I really didn’t.” Sangyeon rubs circles on the back of your hand. Just like that one time last year.

Business or Pleasure? - Part 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lee Sangyeon x Female Reader
Genre: CEO AU, Fake Dating AU, Angst, Fluff
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: None
Standing outside of the massive concrete skyscraper, you take a deep breath and try not to let the giant monolith in front of you - and everyone inside of it - intimidate you. From the reflection of the street-lined windows, you can see the hesitancy on your face. The overwhelming feeling that you just stepped into a role you're unprepared for threatens to drown you, but you do your best to shove it aside.
Wiping that look of fear off your face, you smooth down your business suit and turn your head side to side to make sure your hair is still in place. When you're satisfied you look exactly as you did when you left the house, you hike your bag up your shoulder and give yourself a small nod.
You've got this.
Before you chicken out, you move over to the revolving door and walk into one of the turning sections. You count to three before you come out on the other side and look straight ahead to the receptionist.
His mahogany desk sits in front of a bank of elevators that are already well into being used. Employees scurry around you as you try to take in the open first floor. Stairs disappear into the walls of each side of the building - for those brave souls who refuse to wait with twenty other people for an elevator. The thought of climbing up to one of the top floors makes you want to vomit. You already know the day you have to use those stairs for any reason will be your last one as an employee because there's absolutely no way you'd put yourself through that.
The flooring under your feet catches your attention. Flecks of gold veins run through the hard marble stone, and you're positive that this section of floor alone costs more than your apartment. That feeling of "what are you doing here" starts to bubble up again, and you force yourself to move over to the receptionist's desk before you let it take hold.
The man looks up as you approach, and you can already tell he's a little younger than you. A wide smile takes over his face, causing his eyes to crease. You can almost feel the positive energy radiating off of him.
"Welcome! How can I help you?"
The warmth in his greeting helps remove some of your stress, and you smile back at him. "Hello… I'm a new hire… I'm supposed to be starting today, but I have no idea where to go…"
"That's no problem," he smiles. "Which company are you working for?"
"Lee Technologies Incorporated…" you nervously swallow as you remember you're now working for one of the biggest companies in the technological industry.
His eyes light up. "Hey! I have some friends that work for Lee Tech! Who's your boss?"
"Lee Sangyeon."
The smile vanishes from his face so rapidly that you almost take a step back. His suddenly wide eyes and slightly ajar mouth cause your heart to tumble down into your stomach. What the heck kind of reaction is this?
Almost like he can sense your guard coming up, he shakes himself from his stupor and focuses on his computer. "Um… What's your name?"
Once you give him your identification, your eyes fall to his nameplate. Eric Sohn. Your gaze flashes back up to him, taking in the wavy brown hair and the now hesitant expression on his face. His reaction has spooked you out even more than you already were. The urge to turn around and go right back out the exit grows until his attention comes back to you.
"Looks like you're going straight to the top floor…"
There's a look on his face like he wants to say more, but he holds himself back. You gnaw on your lip for a moment before you decide to just ask.
"I'm sorry, but why did you react like that when I told you his name?"
Eric's eyes widen like he got caught doing something he shouldn't have. He shakes his head. "I was just being… Actually, can I be honest with you?"
"Please."
He takes a deep breath. "He has a reputation around here… Everyone always talks about how mean and cold he is. He has a no-nonsense attitude, and I don't think I've ever seen the man smile. I have seen him fire five people, though, and I've only been here for three months."
All you can do is blink as he stares at you, waiting for your reaction. The spooked-out look is still on his face as you process his words. You've dealt with asshole bosses before, but you have to admit, Eric's reaction is freaking you out a little. Especially considering this mean cold man is now your direct boss… and you're his personal assistant.
"But I'm sure you'll be fine!" Eric smiles, trying to reassure you. "They're probably just rumors."
His smile is anything but reassuring, and you can tell he doesn't even believe his own words, but you nod anyway.
"Thank you… I should probably go," you say, backing away from his desk and hooking your thumb toward the elevators.
"Yes! You absolutely do not want to be late!"
The two of you exchange goodbyes, and you move over to the bank of elevators, standing just behind a group that's waiting to go up. They silently watch the elevator come down thanks to the numbered panels above each door, and you think over everything Eric just told you.
What you've just learned about your new boss both surprises you and doesn't. Knowing that Lee Sangyeon is the CEO of Lee Technologies, you kind of expected that he would have the same kind of reputation as most CEOs out there - rude, unforgiving, an asshole - but to hear that he has fired so many people in such a short time is wild. To find out that his reputation has preceded him all the way to the building's receptionist is surprising.
An elevator door slides open, and you shuffle inside along with the rest of the herd. You find yourself pressed against the side opposite the buttons, and you watch as everyone punches in their floor numbers. Nearly every floor except for 75.
With an internal sigh, you ask the man next to the panel if he can push the button for you. His eyebrows raise, and you notice a couple of people glance over at you, but he eventually hits the button. Thanking him, you lean against the wall and prepare for the long ascent.
The interview you had for this job pops into your brain, and you replay it for any hints. Mr. Lee wasn't there, as he was apparently too busy, but you were interviewed by a couple of other higher-ups in the company, and everything seemed pretty professional. You didn't get the idea that they were trying to hire for a jackass or anything.
As the elevator moves higher and more people get on and off, you decide to push Eric's words out of your mind. They don't need to be there with you on your first freaking day. You need to focus on the matter at hand, not the rumors about your boss.
By the time you reach the 75th floor, you've calmed yourself, and you're once again ready to take on the day. You step out of the elevator with your head held high and approach the first desk you see.
Assumingly, the friendly older lady behind the desk is another receptionist - one for this specific floor - and you smile at her. She politely greets you, and when she realizes who you are, she stands up and comes around her desk.
"If you'll just follow me this way," she says as she begins to lead you past a series of cubicles toward the far wall of the building.
You barely get a chance to look around as you walk through because the first thing you notice is the stares from half of the room. With each cubicle you pass, more heads swivel your way. The noise of the room ahead of you gets quiet, but with each step of your foot, the murmurs behind you rise. You imagine this is the same treatment you'd get if you rolled around in a pile of pig shit and stepped into a room full of people.
Daring to meet some of their eyes, you're surprised to find pity or sympathy in them. All you can wonder is what the hell this man has done to earn such a response. Especially when you overhear someone telling someone else that you're the new mob boss's assistant.
Mob boss? Really? What's next? Are they going to call him Satan?
"Ignore them, dear," the elder lady's words float back to you. "Most of them are afraid of their own shadows."
She comes to a stop outside of a wooden door and knocks. You glance at the windows on either side of it, but the blinds are closed, effectively sealing the CEO away from the peasants. Looking over to your right, you notice a neat, sparse desk. The only thing on top of it is a computer, a keyboard, and an empty filing tray.
The door opens, and you're greeted with the sight of your new mob boss. Your heart picks up speed as you take in the attractive man in front of you, but you keep your expression neutral. Mr. Lee looks between the two of you before he moves away from the door and walks over to stand in front of his desk.
Forcing your feet to move, you step inside his office and take in the view. It's very neat and orderly with few decorations. Bookshelves take up the entire right wall, showcasing texts on computers, the internet, etc. Some of the shelves have little knick knacks and bland decor pieces. A couple of them have picture frames featuring Mr. Lee and people you assume to be his family and friends.
His desk is just as tidy as the shelves, and you quickly make a mental note that your new boss clearly likes things to be in order. No clutter, no trash. Your eyes sweep past him - because you're absolutely not ready to take in his features again - and land on the floor-to-ceiling windows that take up the entire wall behind him. The view is impressive. The entire city seems to be sprawling at his feet, and you can't help but wonder how fitting that probably is.
When the silence of the room registers in your ears, you look back at Mr. Lee and the receptionist and find them both staring at you. Realizing the lady introduced you, you walk over and shake Mr. Lee's waiting hand.
"It's nice to meet you, sir."
"You, as well," he murmurs.
You force yourself to take a step back and meet his gaze. The man is… absurdly attractive.
He's a couple of inches taller than you. Not enough that you have to tilt your heads to look at each other, but enough that it's obvious who's taller. His tanned skin peeks out at his collar, and you can't help but notice how smooth and flawless it looks. His face is adorned with prominent, thick eyebrows and a pointed nose, but the real eye-catcher is his lips - full and pretty pink.
He's a handsome man, especially with his hair swooped to the sides of his face, showing off his forehead. You ignore the fact that your heart is probably going to beat out of your chest every time you see him and focus on the fact that you're most likely gonna have to kick quite a few women to the curb for him. Great.
"That'll be all, Mrs. Park. Thank you."
Mrs. Park bows her head and turns for the door. She flashes you a smile as she goes and you find yourself smiling back. When you turn back to Sangyeon, you notice him staring blankly at you, and the smile falls from your face.
"There are a few things I expect from you as my assistant. Number one, be on time. I don't know why I have to point that out when it should be obvious, but apparently, some people just don't get it. Number two, if I ask for something once, please don't make me ask a second time. If it's something important, do it right away. Don't think it can wait for five minutes or until you're done with whatever it is you're doing."
He pauses, and you nod your head to show him you're listening. Satisfied, he continues.
"Third, try to keep your desk neat. You're an extension of me, so please don't allow your area to look messy. Lastly, I don't expect you to learn my lunch or coffee order. Don't worry about stuff I can take care of on my own. I want your focus to be on the actual work I have you doing."
"Yes, Mr. Lee," you respond because those are all very reasonable requests and ones you already expected. Well, not the food one… You expected to be his little gopher in that area.
He nods. "Great, then we should be all set. Everything else I assume you'll learn along the way. If you have any questions - as long as they're not moronic - feel free to ask me."
You ignore the last remark because you already know if you're coming to this man with a question… It's because it’s your absolute last resort.
"Your desk is right outside of my office. You're free to go settle in for now. I'll have Mrs. Park send someone over to give you a tour of the office.
"Thank you, sir." You turn to go, but his voice stops you.
"Mr. Lee is fine. You don't need to call me sir."
Glancing back at him, you see him move behind his desk without another look your way. Shrugging it off, you exit his office and walk the few feet to your desk.
It's a decent-sized desk. The dark wood makes it appear expensive. For all you know, it probably is. You settle down into the cushy desk chair, and you're pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is. The monitor and keyboard are, of course, state-of-the-art. You can't own a technology company and give your employees crappy electronics.
Remembering your shoulder bag that's been tucked tightly between your arm and torso, you pull out the few pieces you brought and start setting up your desk exactly how you want it. Along the way, you find brand-new supplies tucked in your top drawer and a sticky note with a username and password on top of them. Just as you type the information into the computer, a figure steps up next to your desk.
Looking up, you see a younger-looking man smiling at you. His dimples immediately pop out, and his smile causes the edge of his eyes to crinkle. You'd almost think he's too young to work here, but his sharp, intelligent eyes disprove that theory.
"Hello, I'm Changmin," he introduces himself. "I've been sent to give you a tour."
His eyes flash to the windows behind you, and you feel yourself deflate just a tad more. Apparently, the entire building is convinced you work for Voldermort.
"Great! Thank you," you push your pessimism to the side and stand up. "I have absolutely no idea where anything is."
Changmin starts up the same aisle you originally came down, expecting you to follow. You quickly walk behind him as he points out the different departments that you're beginning to notice the cubicles are situated in. He shows you the supply room and where the other higher-ups' offices are, and then he shows you the break room.
Only a couple of people are in there, but they all stop what they're doing to look up at you. The sigh you make must've been louder than you meant it to be because Changmin looks back at you with a raised brow.
"Everything okay?"
Deciding to be candid, you ask, "Is everyone going to do that every time they see me?"
His lips purse to one side as he decides how to respond. "Mr. Lee has -"
"A reputation. I know."
He nods. "Look, I'm just going to be honest with you. Mr. Lee is serious. He doesn't joke around, and he won't hesitate to discipline someone. He's cold to 95% of the people who work here, and we consider it a national holiday when that man smiles."
"That's pretty much what I've been told," you glumly reply.
Changmin furrows his brows. "Who told you all of that? You've been here for like five minutes."
"The receptionist on the ground floor looked like he was going to pee his pants."
Changmin laughs and nods. "Eric. Yeah, he's heard some horror stories… Speaking of which, there's a bar down the block that some of us go to after work. You should come sometime."
Already nodding, you say, "Sure, that sounds nice… and depending on how work goes, I may need to thoroughly drown my sorrows."
Changmin shakes his head, letting a little laugh slip out before he gets serious again. "Form your own opinions about Mr. Lee because for how serious and cold he comes across, he's the best at what he does. He cares about the company and the people who work for it. He's calm, and he's got a level head. All you have to do is do your job like he asks, and you'll be fine."
Once the tour concludes, you head back to your desk. Having that conversation with Changmin has surprisingly calmed your nerves, and you feel slightly better. You're happy to know that your boss isn't a total ass. There's empathy somewhere in there.
For the next few hours, you get a handle on your job. You quickly begin to understand what Mr. Lee wants, and find that everything he has asked for is completely reasonable… You learn how to file his paperwork, he's made sure his schedule is synced up with yours, so you're aware of all of his meetings, and he's made sure you have everything you need. Everything has gone… swimmingly. Especially considering all of the warnings you’ve had about him.
Just after lunch, a nervous duo stops in front of your desk. You look up to find a pale redhead and her blonde counterpart anxiously watching you. Putting your pen down, you ask, "Can I help you?"
"We have a meeting with Mr. Lee…" The woman quietly responds. "Janette Davis and Mark Greene."
With a nod, you pull up Mr. Lee's schedule and see that he does in fact have a meeting with them. You look back up at the pair, noticing how close they're standing and how they carefully pretend not to look at each other.
Figuring you won't make them wait any longer, you stand up and motion for them to follow you. Knocking on Mr. Lee's door twice, you push open the door when he answers you.
"Mr. Lee, Ms. Davis and Mr. Greene are here."
He nods, and you back away, allowing the couple to pass you. Just before you move to shut his door and go back to your seat, Mr. Lee's voice stops you.
"Would you mind staying in here as a witness?"
Your stomach drops to your feet, but you quietly nod and shut the door. The energy of the room is tense. Mark and Janette look afraid, and you couldn't feel more awkward if you wanted to. Mr. Lee notes all of this and motions for the couple to sit in the chairs at his desk, while his gaze finds yours and he subtly nods to the couch below the windows. Quickly complying with his silent order, you take a seat and listen.
Mr. Lee's eyes carefully look between the two employees. From your vantage point, you can see Mark nervously fidgeting. Janette is sitting ramrod straight in her chair.
"I was made aware that the two of you were caught in… less than ideal circumstances during company time." He falls silent and raises a brow until they both confirm it. "I'm sure you're both well aware that I don't approve of employees screwing around when they're supposed to be working. Do whatever you want outside of this building, but when you're here, your time belongs to the company."
The couple mumbles, "yes, Mr. Lee," and he slightly nods before continuing.
"The next time I'm made aware of another incident, you'll both be transferred to other branches. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes," they simultaneously reply.
Mr. Lee's eyes find yours, and you notice his pointed stare. You sit up a little straighter when you realize this message is for you as well. He notices your reaction and then focuses back on the couple in front of him, leaving you wondering if you truly saw the quick uptick of the corner of his lips like you thought you did.
"Now that we're all on the same page, that'll be it. You can go back to work now."
The couple jumps out of their chairs and scurries from the room like it's on fire. Mr. Lee watches them flee for a moment and then focuses his attention on you.
"Everyone here gets one warning, and that includes you. Show up on time and do what you're told, and you'll be golden. Mess around and waste my time, and you'll be gone before you can even comprehend what's happening. Got it?"
You don't know why you do it. You have absolutely zero clue why the words fall from your lips. Maybe it's because his words trigger your defensive streak, but you hear yourself replying, "yes, sir," in response. This time, you're positive you see the corner of his mouth lift.
