Everything about this film feels very close to home . From the ordinary lives of the characters to the lively banarasi setting, each and every aspect of this film is realistic and relatable. Also ,this film manages to deliver a commentary on life without ever becoming preachy or boring. no cheesy romance, Just raw, blatant portrayal of Banaras and the lives of the lower class. Banaras ke cremation ghats ka backdrop. You get an insight in the lives of the people who work there and how the look at death. Also, it portrays all the characters and world in a very realistic way showing how judgemental Indian society can be..especially when it comes to a small town like Banaras. Especially if theres a girl involved in pre marital sex- theres hue and cry everywhere..
Movie also hits us with sadness and the close reality of the world where we don't know what could happen next. All you can do is accept and move on cause in the end nothing lasts till the end :) and there are hardships throughout the life we gotta deal with. It never gets better, we just accept it and make it better. No one is prepared for the worse but whenever a problem occurs, we humans deal with it somehow
Its a positive film, much contrary to the title. It tells you to stop being such a pessimistic wuss, accept your loss and start moving on, as that is the best thing you can do. And surely, everything that happens is God's way of saying “goos things fall apart for better .”
These extreme unbiased, humanly, sensitive, deeply thought yet experimental attempt is very rare in our cinema and hence these qualities make this movie a piece of personal experience

Things we never got over -⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's really gold. I loved it, but after reading some comments, I realized that the book really has some bih flaws, so icant to give it 5 stars, but 4 will do. Btw I loved the sex scenes. - GOODREADS
Esentialy the book was good and i did like it but i is very misogynistic and gives of asshole vibes. I didnt realise that the book is so much dipped into misoginy till i went trough the comments on GR. That really gave me an ick so i took 1 star away.

Behind the net - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Oh wow this book was really good like my God. Big recomend. The sex scenes were really hot. I know its a hockey romance but i found it recomended as a smut book and trust me it delivered. NGL i was really surprised when they had a scene where he while he was eating her out started playing with her ass and then led up to her butthole and asked her if her ex ever did this, she said no and then he asked her if he could do it and her going PLEASE. Digga was?! I was genuenly like no way were getting anal at the end of the book, but no we didnt he just played a bit with the nerves and she came for like the 3rd time that day. What to say folks, what to say. Anyway im looking forward to reading the orher books, solid 10/10. I ahv nothuing to complai about, i was getting to the end of the book and i knew sooner or later there needed to be some kind of twist that would make them break up and then get back toether but surprise surprise - nothing. Which btw was very refreshing! Every time i read a book theres somekind of scene where something lifechanging happens that the lovebirds have to break up or go on a break but here , nope all is good, theyre a strong good couple and no issues or problems between them. Really refreshing. - GR

The Cock on the block - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book was just amazing i mean from the story to the characters. Ive really enyojed this one. Its a friends to lovers , he falls first, football, fake daring romance and its just wowza. The sexscenes were bomb. The representation of big girls deserve love too was good, not great, at times i found it a bit cringey but it didnt stop me from rating it 5/5. The titrl had me laughing and i didnt think it was going to be better that just that but honestly the book is a must read.

She was made for me - ⭐
God was this bad. I picked this book up cause 1. It was on kindle unlimited so I didn't have to pay for it, 2. The description of the book was intriguing, not the title ( the title is misogynistic and something coming from wattpad) , age gap, fathers friend . I really thought and was hopping that the book would end with them going separate ways but no NO ! FFS THEY SATH TOGETHER IN THIS DISGUSTING RELATIONSHIPS! HE COULD BE HER FATHER. 20 YEARS AGE GAP. I thought it was gonna be like 10 at most cause her dad is a lawyer so maybe a lawyer friend , I was right and wrong , ex lawyer friend and gap 20 years. Ugh. The amounts of times I've gagged while reading this , the word sweetheart has officially landed on my black list and my husband isn't alowed to call me that till I forget this book exists. 🙃 Just some quotes that had me gagg are : -You take me so well. -You were made for me . -How can I become a good girl again. -Sweetheart -Best friends daughter -my seed driving down her thighs -she's clenching her thighs so my seed doesn't dripp out - (puts a finger in her ass ) you like that I swear all of these are 100x worse when the fact that he's 20 years older than her hits your head. How disgusting can it be. And the fact that he's convinced that it wasn't him who initiated all this but actually she forced him to have sex with her is delulu to its fullest. How delulu can you be to even think you resisted her but she kept pushing and you had to fuck her. All she did was go on a date with a guy and said she's go on a second one as well and you deciding no you won't and I won't let you and then fucking her ... not her fault. Yes she did want it but talk about DADY ISSUES MUCH . You can't tell me that in the 43 years that you've been alive you never heard of Daddy issues, you could have smelled them a mile away , even if she had been 30 when u met and thought she's 30 and not 24 , that woman would still have daddy issues . How delulu can one be. And her being desperate for that dick is comical, first man who shows interest in you in a long time and you jump on that train like there's no other connection. The only person with a smudge of a brain cell was her dad when he put 2 and 2 together , cursed Kyle out saying she's my baby girl, she's 20 years younger than you , how could you , etc. I swear the yurika I felt when I read that was HUGE, cause finally someone in this God damn book is saying that it's disgusting 🫣 and awful to be hearing that your best friend of so many years has fucked your daughter in the house that you own while he was on the job that you gave him. And all that goes for nothing cause the dad losses his final brain cell as well and 1 month later is ok with everything and even APOLOGISED to the man who fucked your daughter because it wasn't right. I swear all of the ppl in this book are extremely delulu. All of em. I swear I'm never picking up a book writen by who ever wrote this , I don't even wanna know what person could have written this and went yeah that's good , I'm proud of it. You're glorifying misogyny with all these , she's mine , she'll be mine , my seed driving down her thigh , DISGUSTING, not to mention relationships where the power dynamic is WAY OFF. Yeah a 25 yo is mature enough to be w a 43 yo, Def no power imbalance there , she's her own woman and can make decisions for herself, how mental can you be ?!?!?!?!?!? - GR
Only thing i can add to this is that i cant believe that this book has a rating of 4,16 on goodreads (4,19 before i gave it a 1/5). The coments were all positive, only 1 negative. I mean great for the author but eww. It really is a mess of a book and i feel if it stays i its designated demografic its gonna continue to thrive and shine but if it blows up it deff wont be because it so good, its deff gonna be because of the problematic toppics and in general everything.

The Short Life of Bree Tanor - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book just held me by my troath and didnt let go till the end. What do i say about a book where i knew that the mc was gonna die at the end. The book is read as a whole stry, no chaptors no nothing. Its very real, belivable , just really sucks you back into the twilight universe and as mentiond at the beginning it grabs you by the troatha and doesnt let go. The story was just amazing and emotional and raw, real and pure. We get to experiance what bree felt in those last few weeks of her life, explaining how she came to be, what got her there and how she managed to survive in a pack of newborns that only had the instinkt to kill. The very short , hopefull romace between Bree and Diego that def had a future but lasted roughly a few days was heartbreaking. I really hoped that diego didnt die and that he was actually still on the mission of spying on the cullens but as we get to find out , its a lie and diego died a painfull death . The last moments of brees life were intense and just torture, and once her death came it gave her what she so desperatly needed -PEACE.

alien: covenant sucked and here’s why
I saw Covenant five years ago (so I think closer to 4 weeks) and I hated it a whole bunch. But it was a very instructive hate, so I’m gonna break it down. Putting everything under a readmore bc this is gonna be long and also I don’t want people who liked it to have to see me shredding away.
The first Alien film was the first horror movie that I liked enough not to care how scary it was. I think I was around 6 when I first saw it. It awakened three things in me: a crush on Sigourney Weaver, a lasting kink for xeno, and a deep love of women using construction equipment for non-conventional purposes. I’m not a hugely dedicated Alien fan, but I think that the films have two very defined qualities:
1) Equal opportunity psychosexual horror. Literally anyone in Alien can be forcefully facefucked and then carry a terrifying alien baby! This is something that’s been commented on to death, so it’s not like I think I’m brilliant for observing this.
2) Woman-centered. Not just in terms of Sigourney Weaver or other Hollywood-unconventional white brunette terms, but the Alien films are also deeply concerned with reproduction. Ripley’s always off to kill the Queen because she’s gonna lay hundreds of eggs, etc. However, unlike a lot of horror films, women aren’t the subject of particular sexual menace. See above: everyone’s a potential victim of the xenomorphs I think this was why the Alien films weren’t as scary to me as other movies, because I didn’t have to see women singled out for rape or assault in ways that separated them from men. Also, women win. Yeah, the xenomorphs always come back, but there’s a little bit of a break at the end of each film. I also can’t even get that pissed off, because it’s female aliens vs female humans, so again I’m removed from awful gender dynamics. I’m not implying that the Alien films are feminist, but they’re not misogynist.
Now that you know my two strongest feelings about Alien, let’s move forward to Covenant itself. First off, several people in the audience were laughing at a lot of the dramatic moments (not just me and my wife). If you’ve got people tittering during a moment of tension, your horror movie sucks. It’s failed. Covenant has three main flaws.
1) Terrible, terrible script. Every single person in the film, other than the robots, is a blithering idiot. The movie starts with a bunch of supposedly professional people waltzing out into a planet that’s broadcasting John Denver without any helmets on, and they’re perfectly fine with having unpredictable communication and dangerous ion storms going on. What the fuck. All of them deserved to die. They go scampering around in the alien water? Christ, you can get all sorts of awful things from water on EARTH let alone on another planet.
Then, when people start getting disgustingly sick, there’s no immediate panic. No, the person has to start vomiting black bile before they think, wow, this is a scary thing to happen on an unknown planet. Remember when that woman was attending to Victim #1 and decided to hug him as his skin looked ready to pop and he was leaking everywhere? What the fuck.
Remember when David started talking about his weird experiments while showing Captain Vaguely Christian his cabinet of fetal xenomorphic horrors? Then he creepily tells the captain to go down to his murder basement and stick his face in a weird egg-casing, and the captain just goes ahead and does it? Probably one of the most rage-inducing parts of the film, but he totally deserved to go. That was actually my thought for everyone who died in the film, other than the gay couple, Walter, and Shaw. The gay men weren’t any more or less likable than the other people who were murdered, but they were a nice little bit of representation that probably 90% of the audience didn’t notice.
Every character in the film acts like a lamb going to slaughter. That isn’t suspenseful, it’s just annoying.
2) Predictability. This could probably just go under the terrible script, but it deserves special attention. My single moment of surprise was seeing David 8 on the planet, and that’s only because I hadn’t looked at any previews. The crew is so tremendously stupid that I know the moment one of them wanders off alone, they will get horribly murdered. When Walter and David fight, I know that Walter will lose the second the camera cuts away from the Fassbender vs Fassbender. This is particularly annoying because the director had established that Walter was ‘improved’ over the David model not 5 minutes ago, and Walter is no fool. He is one of two non-fools in the movie, and since the other one is also played by Michael Fassbender, this is a source of much frustration.
Covenant could have been made slightly better by playing off the audience expectation that David would win. Honestly: was anyone expecting Walter to have won that fight, particularly since “Walter” was acting so creepy after scampering back to the ship? The movie isn’t creating tension through uncertainty, it’s creating tension because the audience is waiting for the goddamn reveal that it’s not Walter, it’s David. Can you imagine if the reveal at the end was that it actually *was* Walter? That would be a legitimate twist! And it wouldn’t be hard to bring back the xenomorph threat in the next film in a way that didn’t involve Fassbender yartzing out fetuses into a drawer while Wagner plays. This leads me to the third, most vile part of Covenant:
3) Misogyny. Here’s where Covenant goes back and takes a shit on the legacy of the previous films, and I gotta repeat that I don’t even really care about the Alien series that much. Covenant completes what Prometheus started, and that’s shifting the focus from women to men. Now, you could say that this is because it’s a prequel to the Alien series, so you don’t have adult xenomorph queens going around to lay eggs, but uh... really? Do we really need to go through this convoluted process of giant white aliens who look vaguely like Clancy Brown?
Tumblr media
I dare you to unsee this. So we’ve got the aliens reproducing through coaldust and Clancy Browns, and it turns out that they needed a man all along to make them reproductively viable. Yeah, David 8 is an android, not a human, but we know what’s up, since the writers sure as shit aren’t taking a nuanced or current look at gender. He’s a guy with daddy issues who sexually assaults people, rather than, you know, acting like a genderless robot. Obviously a sentient robot commits sexual assault! That’s how you know he’s sentient, because a sex drive is part of humanity! Please picture me rolling my eyes with disgust.
David explicitly sets himself up as a god in the image of his creator, Weyland. Of course, David thinks he’s doing better than his father, but who doesn’t? We’ve cut women out as free agents, both the humans and the aliens. Alien series? No, it’s the Michael Fassbender being menacing series now!
First off, let’s look at what happens to Shaw. Noomi Rapace wisely tapped out of the series after the end of Prometheus, so she had to be killed off. Was she killed off in a normal way? Nah. She was killed in one of the most uniquely horrible ways in the series, and it was highly gendered. Shaw repairs David, then he repays her kindness by designing a horrible machine to keep her alive while he scoops everything out of her from the waist down and leaves her as this frightening wax-like figure. Prometheus already put Shaw through a pseudo self-abortion, then David goes for the entire womb. I’m sure that the writers (all male - I checked) knew exactly what they were doing with this, and it’s gender essentialism 101: David takes Shaw’s creative, maternal womb powers and takes it for himself so he can make his own alien babies. There’s no way this was unintentional or me reaching - David’s narrative arc is about male parthenogenesis because his daddy was a really shitty programmer. (He probably forgot to close the brackets on the ‘not evil’ line of David’s code)
Now for Daniels. The audience is ‘treated’ to David trying to force himself on her after she sees his figurative rape of Shaw. Then, instead of rescuing herself from this completely unnecessary, un-Alien, he’s-a-goddamn-robot situation, as Ripley would have done, Daniels is rescued by Walter, because this is a film about Michael Fassbender. Her last moment in the film is her screaming as she’s trapped and put to sleep by David.
Remember that whole generation of young women who loved Ripley for being unafraid, resourceful, and great at killing xenomorphs? Women are starving for positive depictions of ourselves. Ripley was one of the few we had. Women are still crying in theaters at Wonder Woman because we have so goddamn little.
Now we’ve got Shaw and Daniels: two women in distress who are sexually threatened and ultimately outwitted by a man. I can forgive Covenant for being a bad film, but the misogyny is disgusting. If the Alien series continues, and who knows since it’s failed to be a moneymaker outside of comics and videogames for a while, it better be a reboot rather than a continuation of Covenant’s storyline, because Alien isn’t about men, damn it. It’s about people dying in space, and women.
And some of them will eat you.

Over the past five years the team of Donna Ockenden, the chairwoman of the independent review of maternity services at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), has spoken to hundreds of families who had their lives destroyed by poor maternity care. Her 250-page report details how a toxic culture was allowed to persist for decades, leading to tragedy after tragedy. Here are the key findings:
Deaths of 201 babies avoidable The inquiry identified 1,592 clinical incidents of poor care relating to 1,486 families. With better care, 201 baby deaths could have been avoided. This includes 131 stillbirths and 70 deaths of newborn babies. Nine mothers died needlessly during childbirth. The review focused on the period from 2000 to 2019, but also found cases dating back to 1973 and Ockenden said staff had also raised concerns about poor care “in recent weeks”.
Vital data kept on Post-it notes For decades the trust wrongly insisted its maternity unit was good and safe. Families had complaint letters dismissed, only for external investigations to identify failings — often many years later. Women were left with “terror, guilt, suspicion and feelings of trust cover-up” after the trust said they had experienced good quality care. Maternity staff were “frightened” of speaking up and told by managers not to participate in Ockenden’s inquiry. One member of staff said: “There were people who tried to make changes, we tried to escalate our concerns and be heard, but every process we used was set up not to acknowledge our voices or the problems we were highlighting. We were ignored.”
Speaking today, the health secretary, Sajid Javid, said there were “basic oversights at every level of patient care” and highlighted “one case where important clinical information was kept on Post-it notes, which were then swept into the bin by cleaners with tragic consequences for a newborn baby and her family”.
Bullying left employees in tears Ockenden said a toxic culture of “undermining and bullying” left staff struggling to finish shifts and crying secretly at work. Two thirds of staff said they had witnessed or experienced bullying. The report identified an “us and them” divide between doctors and midwives. Some spoke of a “clique” on the labour ward of “dominating and intimidating voices” who “will make your life hell”. The wards were chronically understaffed and there was insufficient training for midwives.
Mothers blamed for failures Women were “frequently” blamed for their own deaths and those of their babies. A husband who lost his wife in 2011 recalled being told it was “difficult for the midwives to listen to baby’s heartbeat due to [the mother’s] size”. In 2002 when a mother died after a high-risk pregnancy, the trust said the woman “was aware of the potential effect [getting pregnant] could have on her future”. In 2013, they suggested the heart rate of a baby who died was not monitored because the young mother “liked to be left to sleep”. In another case, the trust said a mother was “responsible . . . because she clearly did not complain very much”. In 2011, a woman was accused of “being lazy in labour”. The report found widespread “unkind words, swearing, sarcasm and bullying towards women”.
Stillbirths not investigated The trust repeatedly failed to investigate serious incidents and deaths. Between 2011 and 2019, four in ten stillbirths and neonatal deaths were not investigated. On top of these failures, Ockenden said “external scrutiny of the trust clearly failed”. The report pointed the finger at “eight external bodies who inspected, visited, assessed or checked upon the trust” but failed to improve care. This included the Care Quality Commission, the national NHS regulator, which in 2015 rated maternity services at SaTH as “good”. Ockenden said: “Without investigation we cannot understand what may have gone wrong and we cannot learn.”
Families were brushed aside Families spent two decades being “brushed aside, ignored and not listened to”. They were forced to investigate their own children’s deaths and “chase for the results of their own investigations”. When one mother died in 2002, her partner phoned the doctor seeking answers. The doctor told him that “if you keep digging into this you’ll just find things you don’t want to find”, before putting the phone down. The scandal came to light only because of the tireless campaigning of bereaved families, notably the parents of Kate Stanton Davies and Pippa Griffiths.
Obsession with natural birth The trust prided itself on having a low caesarean section rate, which was consistently 8 to 12 per cent below the national average. Ockenden said the determination to avoid C-sections “resulted in many babies dying during birth or shortly after their birth”. Women whose babies were in breech position (feet first) were encouraged to have a vaginal birth despite the high risks involved. One staff member told the inquiry “they were always trying . . . for a normal birth all the time”. Too many women were inappropriately given oxytocin, a drug which induces contractions to facilitate a vaginal birth.
Newborns suffered fractured skulls The report said that “in a surprising large proportion of cases . . . common obstetric conditions were not recognised or managed”, including pre-eclampsia and heavy bleeding after birth. The trust repeatedly failed to adequately monitor babies’ heart rates, leading to avoidable deaths. Excessive force and forceps were used to deliver infants, leaving some babies with fractured skulls, brain injuries and life-long disabilities. Mothers suffered horrendous birth injuries and were left with permanent physical damage.

SCAM AT FIRST SIGHT ❤️

Pata h log humesha kehte h ki love at first sight ki baat he kuch alag hoti h...par mein un logon mein se thi jo bolti thi "arrey yarrr love at first sight vagera kuch nahi hota...sab scam h...bas crush at first sight hota h...banda/bandi bas tumhe cute lagte h...so it's just a crush not love" Par woh Kehte h na jo jis cheez me believe nahi karta uske saath humesha wahi hota h...just like in horror movies the person doesn't believe in ghosts is the first one to see them...and yes damn it mere sath bhi hua....he was a friend of a friend...
So, I was just going to meet my college friends in a cafe...and when I entered the cafe there he was a guy sitting very sweetly and quietly in a corner with the best hair, best face, best glasses and most importantly the best and the cutest smile!!! Oh My Godddddd...Who Is this! I still remember my reaction and I still feel the goosebumps when I remember that moment....
First of all at that moment I was like... "Beta, lagta h tere sath bhi scam hone wala h...ab toh tu gayi kaam se..." You guys toh very well know how it is when you fall for someone....it's like from that very moment you just cannot take out that person's face out of your mind, heart, soul and what not!! There were like 1000 Things going in my mind at that time..." Man he's so cute, why is he so silent, why isn't he talking, he's so innocent, he's so sweet, his smile is just so adorable!! oh can't ignore the dressing sense! Finally a guy with good dressing sense! Ok he's hot too" I was so trying to convince myself that "babe love at first sight nahi hota h....maybe you just fell for his looks...you just have a crush on him...just just stick to that ok and shut the f up! But nahi mujhe toh bas use stare kare Jana h stare kare Jana h...usko kya pasand h kya nahi sab kuch scan karna h mujhe...at that moment I knew that I was f up..
Ya guys I was so in love!!! That smile that damn smileeee...aaghhhh!!! At that point I knew it was diffrent.... I immediately called my best friend and her about him..... like at that very moment... I mean ofcourse she had to know....
Okay as much as I hate to admit it...it really was the best thing and the feeling ever....it's like....I just thought that "girl if you can love someone from the moment you saw them....just imagine the love and care and affection you'll have towards him for the rest of your life! I mean generally people are friends first then they start talking and meeting then they like each other and then start dating...But here you skipped all this and fell in love with him the moment you saw him! Okay I still can't believe what I thought next! I was like " so I think he is the one"... Aise kaun hota h yarrrr...I was like Bhai usse pehle baat toh kar!!! 2 min mein you're like yeah yeah he's the one! Guys I'm telling you I really was f up...I swear lmao...
Okay first of all we're not dating.... we don't talk rn cuz a bunch of things happened good and bad...but still I do think he's the one....
So my point here is...Life really takes unexpected turns...and you never know what will happen next...I was the girl who never believed in love at first sight but dekho mere sath wahi scam hua....and now I feel like it's the best thing ever happened to me and that he's the one....so all I'm saying is just be open to all the things....only then you'll be able to experience the joy and happiness of every unexpected beautiful moments in your life....and yes now I'm Jaggi from Shiddat lmao...Just a hopeless romantic...Just waiting for him...so finally I think it's not a scam but it's still a scam yarrrr but a good one... So I don't call it love at first sight now... I call it 'Scam At First Sight' and jinke saath hua h unhe I call 'Scamies' including me ofcourse
So, this was my first blog guys.. I wanted it to be casual and I wanted you guys to feel and relate it so maine waise he likha h jaise log normally baat karte h...so please give me your reviews and tell me if you want me to improvise anything... See you in the next blog scamies.....

Yea!! Basically recommend any and all sath fics you can/ want to lol, and I totally agree we gotta stick together. I feel like there’s a lot of us but it seems to be a low key ship unfortunately..
Hi! Then of course, I’ll including some other stories that are either at risk of not being completed or I think are definitely on the dead list. But I am always willing and eager to help a fellow Sath fan out.
Also, since these are all incompleted and haven’t been updated in a while, I haven’t included the label since by their very nature, all these works are WIP.
‘Sink or Swim’ by @bigcatchuck19. Full disclosure I have looked over both his major Sath stories. Look, the author just does Beth so well. Grumpy, quick to anger, gay as hell, loyal to those she loves, and utterly hopeless at romance. This is a very sweet story, and well worth the read. Beth and Sam going on their first date, out on a very relaxing  kayak ride. What could go wrong? ;) Beth is aided in this adventure by trying-to-be helpful Hannah and a very mischievous Josh (the author’s has a great grasp of Josh, too. He’s a highlight.). It’s full of romantic tension and will make you smile. Also Sam is so great, and knows EXACTLY how to make Beth squirm with just one comment.
‘Brother Keeper’ by @sammygiddings.  This hasn’t been updated in a year and I doubt it will be updated but that’s just me. I don’t speak for the author who may think differently. This right up there some of the most emotional stories I have ever recced. The premise is: what if SAM instead of Beth raced out after Hannah? It’s harrowing to see Beth hollowed out this way - her twin and girlfriend are missing and she’s so incredibly angry that it feels like the rage has burnt a hole through her heart. She’s still Beth, though, loving and loyal, especially to Josh who is shattered after Sam and Hannah’s disappearance. This is an action packed story, and there’s a real MENACE that pervades every paragraph (mostly because I have an inkling that Sam became the wendigo, not Hannah. I don’t know this, mind you, but that was always my guess. Honestly there is something so terrifying about the thought about how competent a Samdigo would be). It’s frustrating where it’s left off, but it’s still worth a read and a review, because the author is terrifically talented and also the Sath scenes (which are all in flashback) are so bittersweet it’ll make you want to cry.
‘Broken Parable’ by @onlyashremains. This one has less Sath in it though what we do get is perfect. It’s canon compliant and has the ‘everyone lives’ scenario, but of course, the Mountain doesn’t want to let the kids go and has it’s own way of coaxing them back into danger. The author does a good job of giving a plausible explanation why a bunch of traumatised college kids would go back to the place where they almost died. And yes, since this is predominately a Sath rec list, both Washington girls play an active role in the story. While the central romance is Sam/Mike, Sam’s love for Beth shines through and I’d argue she is still clearly in love with the youngest Washington and hasn’t properly managed to move on. The story only has one more chapter to run, but the MAJOR caveat is Beth’s arc is still incomplete. As a Sath fan, that’s incredibly annoying since just about every character has secured closure except the Washingtons and Sam. Not to mention one of the best overarching plot points in the story is Sam’s rather complex relationship with Beth and Josh in particular (on a separate note, the depiction of Hannah in this story is amazing and terrifying and worth the price of admission alone). The author has on numerous occasions said she will finish this , but I cannot attest she will since it’s been a long time between drinks. #shrug emoji#. It’s a shame since this is one of the best stories in fandom, but one must respect that life can get in the way and can stop an author from completing their work. As a story, I would certainly recommend it, as a Sath fan, there are some problems, chiefly Beth’s arc is not satisfactory as the work now stands. Maybe a review will nudge her along, who knows ;)
And finally,
‘Oh Beth’ by @bigcatchuck19. Oh, this story. It’s one of the ones that first made me fall in love with Sath so I have a soft spot for it. Again, the author does Beth justice. This one is another post canon story, but Hannah is the only one missing. And Josh still wants them all to come back on the mountain, one year later. I love, love, love Sam and Beth’s relationship in this. They love each other. They both KNOW they love each other. But due to Hannah’s disappearance (and the guilt they both feel for being too caught up in each other to stop the prank) means they are stuck in this excruciating limbo that’s wearing them both down almost as badly as the grief they both feel for Hannah. Again, it’s an action packed story but one that doesn’t ignore character motivations (and the others play a large role here, too, with Josh a particular standout.) I am a little biased so I know the twist (which is amazing) and know why Beth’s rage plays a huge role in the story, but regardless, it’s a terrific story that does Sath right. It’s one I would definitely recommend reading, for many reasons, including Beth trying not to make double entendres about Sam and failing spectacularly.
(honorary mention goes to ‘Take Two, Mr. Munroe’. It’s a Mike story, and mostly Mike/Jess and Mike/Emily, but Sath is clearly a burgeoning and Beth is an A plus badass. Worth a read)
I hope this is satisfactory! There isn’t a tonne of Sath work out there, but what there is pretty darn good. Let me know if you like these ones, and most of all, leave a review, and maybe it’ll inspire one of the authors will be inspired to pick these wonderful stories will start being updated again.
Thanks for your ask, anon, you’re a star.
