     Not everything in Konoha is roses.

     Despite the time of peace, things still go wrong. There are still those unhappy with Konoha, and the Land of Fire. And despite her relative novelty in the medical corps, Ryū isn’t the sort to back down when something happens. 

     When an explosive tag goes off near the heart of the village, chaos quickly erupts as civilians panic and shinobi begin scrambling trying to find the perpetrator. Ryū, in the midst, joins other nearby medics in gathering up the wounded and administering the first aid they can before effort can be made to take them all to the hospital.

     Elbow-deep in the gore, Ryū only looks up when she hears a familiar voice. Seems Nawaki’s discovered the carnage.

     “There...t-there was an explosion,” she offers shakily. As calm as she’s managed to keep herself so far, this is the first time she’s been involved in a situation like this. In all honesty, she’s been feeling a bit light-headed, stuffing down incoming panic under a mantra to keep herself focused. “No one seems to know what happened yet, but...but there’s a search on. We’re trying to...trying to take care of the injuries.”

     And yet already there’s a few people far too still among the injured. She tries not to look at them too closely.

     Swaying slightly and looking at the drying crimson along her hands and forearms, Ryū swallows dryly. “I...I think I n-need to...to sit down...”

To say Inoue Minami was ‘one hell of a woman to deal with’ would be an understatement. 

When the heroes declared her captured, defeated, she refused to shed her fangs. At first, she just lashed out at the staff, incessantly snapping at nurses’ fingers and mauling doctors, but when the reality of her situation --- the exposed helplessness of it all --- began to settle like ash after a blaze, Minami turned her claws inwards.

Throat, wrist, tongue, anything that could just make her bleed enough; if it leaked faster than what those bewildered quacks could plug, then they would have to release her Quirk before she painted those gagworthy white floors to her very own shade of red. Surely, she’d use that to escape, and then this whole mess would be left to rot behind her!

... Or, at least, that was the plan. Minami had failed to account for the hospital having permission to use their own Quirks, and she had failed to expect them to be so prepared for a suicidal tantrum. In hindsight, she was rather ashamed of her assumptions. This was a villain hospital, after all, which served as a temporary prison for an entire spectrum of violent, vitriolic criminals. A woman deranged by desperation was nothing more than another unruly night shift for them...

When the clan head woke from her sedated ‘nap’, she found herself bound in almost every way a person could. The nullifiers remained tight around her wrists. The bone-deep exhaustion, the unshakable fatigue she hadn’t felt since first awakening her meta ability, hinted at drugs, probably, keeping her nice and docile for her care team. The hours seemed to drag in this room, and all Minami could do was stew in her embarrassment and shame, mulling on her failure like a child sent to her room. Even if they were yet to discover her true identity, death had never looked so tempting ---

--- but at least the knock at her door was a nice change in routine.

“Who is it?” Minami yawned, tongue heavy and disobedient. “If you’re here for an investigation, you can go ahead and stick an IV up your ass...”

As was the day itself, with the sky a bright sea of blue and not a cloud to be seen, lending him a little more serenity as he formulated an answer to her question. After a couple of seconds, he drew his focus back to Tsunade and smiled. “Of course I do. Love is present in so much of the human condition. It motivates us for better - and for worse. It can be gentle, and it can be fierce. It can be pure and it can be corrupt. It has a multitude of forms, but I do believe that it is what binds one soul to another.”

He was glad, when he came to, that he found himself in the school hospital wing and not back in the actual hospital. He didn’t know why that was more comforting then the actual real thing, but it was. 

“Vlad-sensei?” He squinted at the teacher, a little confused, wondering if he was seeing him right.

Mistakes were made before Miruko and Vlad’s coffee date. That much was certain. Vlad was playing with Pochi in his living room when the knock at his door came, which he didn’t hear. He coo’d at the dog.

“Who’s the best boy?” He asked the dog, scratching him behind his head. “Pochi-kuuun.” He said. “Daddy’ll have to go soon okay?” He told the dog. “Be good at protect the house while I’m gone.”
