#she gets to talk to Vika who feels weirded out by her being a branded and yet they agree to continue talking/being friends despite it

Something that really bothers me about the rose coloured glasses vis a vis tellius and fe fans (ESPECIALLY from 3h fans who learned about tellius later) is that many like soren purely because of his main ship (i mean i like ikesoren too but come the fuck on) and jokingly characterise soren as a stereotypical nasty mean limp wristed sarcastic gay man instead of a deeply flawed branded angry at the world and definitely trauma bonded to ike, but micaiah is still absolutely getting raked over the coals over the blood pact and not being ike’s fangirl
Well,
Jokes often involve flanderisation, so Soren being flanderised to oblivion when people joke about him isn't something I really care about, but maybe that's because I'm not really fond of Soren to begin with lol
What annoys me more is when some people try to rationalise Soren's anger and backstory by either pointing at Almedha or Deghinsea being responsible for everything, and I'm like, what.the.fuck?
Almedha's just, idk, I won't call it sexism, but damn - that woman loves her son who is the only reason why she hasn't completely lost her mind over 1/losing her powers 2/being casted away like trash by her "BF" 3/being rejected by her dad 4/thinking her brother was tortured and abused to death because of her actions 5/being separated from her beloved child.
Deghinsea being "uwu bad bcs he's the reason why brandeds are rejected by both beorcs and laguz" is another take I really am not fond of, and iirc I wrote a post earlier this year about it? But to some people who buy the "Crusts BaD" as the reason why Fodlan sucks, I guess they need to have someone to name and pill all of the world's nonsense rather than, well, in Tellius' case, realise that the worldbulding and the lore really sucks, to the point where the duology touted as the most "against racism" of the franchise, is pretty much way more racist than anything Tru Piss can throw us (yes, because in Tru Piss we have characters rejecting coexistence, in Tellius, it's the world mechanics - whenever a Beorc and a Laguz coexist too much, the Laguz dies...).
As for Miccy,
Just like, imo, Soren gains some "new" attention and "uwu excuses for why he's being a snarky jerk at times", Miccy used to be bashed when FE10 was released (with all the Mary Sue accusation being thrown around!) because she was written to be a sort of foil/antagonist to Ike, and when the party reunited, she was demoted to a "soul-jar" role, let it be regarding the greater plot, or, even, her own backstory!
TBH, for people who didn't play FE10, if Ike is the bestest thing since melted cheese, Miccy, who opposes him, must be BaD and so you can pile everything you don't like on her, hoping to see it stick.
Or even worse, I've seen posts here and there comparing Miccy to Supreme Leader and how misunderstood uwu she is, which is the worst insult poor Miccy ever received since FE10 came out rofl
#2goldensnitches#do you want to kill me friend lol#once upon a time discussions about soren and miccy were very animated lol#anyways i still don't like how some part of the fandom tries to uwu him#he is a character with flaws that sure are never called out in the game and by the main character but#they exist#and to uwu them away is imo a disservice and not a good reading on him#'but his backstory sad uwus' Sephiran also has a crapton of sad uwus for his backstory#and yet the game chews him out about his plans to destroy the world because hey fuck off#it's not fair to condemn the world and everyone who lives in it for your suffering#It's sort of hilarious because sometimes I wonder if Miccy wasn't also written as a Soren foil#Miccy is the one who doesn't like when Beorc call Laguz names#she lives in racist land and knows she has to hide else she'll die too#but she still came to care about the people who live here#she gets to talk to Vika who feels weirded out by her being a branded and yet they agree to continue talking/being friends despite it#Miccy never insults Rafiel calling him a half beast#Soren follows Ike and his lead but Miccy has to take the lead despite wanting to follow Pelleas at first#tfw we know more about Soren's backstory even after being kicked away from Daein than Miccy's lol#granted I loved what FE10 with Almedha when you see that some of his worst traits/flaws are actually shared by his mom lol#tl;dr : a Soren raised by his mom would have been even more of a jerk than the one we got#i have a lot of feelings about how Miccy was treated in FE10 which in turn sort of explains the vitriol she received from the fandom#but that's for another post lol else it'll be too long#basically FE10 is more Ike v.2 than a game where Miccy is the Lord

zima (character bingo)
Tumblr media
they look so cool… their coat is the best part of their design, like it just makes the whole character silhouette be very distinguishable. and the red of her is very tiny but a very big part of her color scheme I love it…
okay they're deeper than they seem, haven't seen many bear fans around in these places but that's a given, she's just so fucking traumatized both by her abusive family which led her into building a fake tough persona who kicked the shit out of bad people in a way to defend her own self and avoid thinking of all the shit happening with her family where her father was unemployed as hell and they barely had money to eat. (remembers the weird shaped ham they eat which I feel is more of a reference to eating humans since this image comes from a nightmare she has where she argues with herself)
I just love how she defended gummy and istina when all the other students turned into her when zima became their leader and she ended up killing them all because they didn't like her way of doing things and were desperate for a scapegoat aekukreukagrue. Kinda funny that vika suggested them all to join or ally with the nobles and Istina just lied up about Zima "hating them" I mean she did but not with as much fervor as Anna did. on the case of she not doing anything wrong is also because she can kill as many as she wants and it will be okay she's just a little blorbo who'd do anything wrong :3
I'm mentally ill about them… I wish her attack animation had the "double hit" with her axe she does in lore… where she doesn't do a third slash with her axe because that's how she cut human bodies to hand the pieces for Gummy to cook them, but no the game is just boring and makes her attack 1 hit at a time…
In general going into headcanons back to her family issues I guess she dealt a lot with internalized lesbophobia :blobnomouth: because of how often her parents told her to "get a nice guy to marry" so she could be "well off" and how they told her that she should study and be better mannered to be a "good wife" while all she wants is to punch nobles and be a badass dyke who doesnt care about anything. Maybe her mom saw her she was hoarding a bunch of pants and flannels and threw them all away, her mother also saw zima cutting her hair short once and never spoke to her daughter* in normal ways again… Oh also zima one day saw a butch while walking in the street and decided that's how she wanted to be :p
I feel like her way of showing love is a bit… weird, silence unless she sees her friends being threatened, she feels like she has to protect all of them, they are the only thing she has left in her life and so overworks herself in the gym and training hours just to be stronger for gummy and istina (and Rosa but she doesn't want to admit how much she desires to be a Knight in armor for the stupid former noble), this way of showing affection and standing up for others just drags her more and more into situations that just end up hurting or making a mess out of everyone… She doesn't talk much with absinthe because they hate each other a bit but absinthe always get her brand new vodka (zoya is mischievous about it, thinking of it as a vengeance). The only person she isn't as direct with is Rosa, she has a hard time figuring out why is it that even if she's the one who always listens to her troubled mind, she can't comprehend her most of the time and kind hates the way Natalya scuffs herself behind a fake personality of always trying to look and act like the perfect girl… she wishes she could fix that stupid fake smile in Rosa's with a bunch of kisPUNCHES. She sometimes doesn't know why Rosa stares at her with such admiration and fondness when they rarely share lunch together… Yet somehow they always come to see each other during nights when one of them has nightmares, so they usually just drink tea (despite zima hating it) and cuddle in silence in the night until they fall asleep. Before they started dating Istina noticed that zima sometimes went to Rosa's room a lot and tried to spy on them… and ended up falling asleep in the hall outside of Rosa's room (Anna ended up getting dragged while being asleep by zima all the way back to her room when they noticed someone was out there). Zima loves and hates the way Rosa is, she's way too protective of everyone but can't stand the way Rosa is just so focused on her, it suffocates her in bad sunny days, kills her awful rainy days yet when it snows she realizes how much she wants Rosa despite her obsessive ways :blobwithnomouth:

The Branded in Tellius’ Story
The more I think about this, the more disappointed I am of the fact that the writers were too scared of letting us know who was Branded too early. It’s clear that most of them were meant to be a surprise, which hurts the narrative around them.
Spoilers for those who still want to be kind of surprised.
The biggest problem is that we never see the Branded being treated poorly due to being a Branded. The games sure tells us a lot but it never actually shows somebody berating a Branded for the sole fact that they are Branded.
Soren’s negative interaction with the laguz was either his fault (with Lethe and Mordecai) or due to circumstance (Nasir had a secret and had to keep it) - we don’t see one laguz treating him the way he described to be the case in his childhood. In fact, Raunlf and Tibarn both compliment his tactics when he’s not around. He was mistreated in the past but the only person who is treating him badly because of his Brand seems to be himself. Judging by how frantic he seemed during his A-support with Ike, it seems that discrimination should still be prevalent. Yet, anything sort of negative interaction he gets comes from his personality and his words, not his Brand.
It’s hard to say if Micaiah’s ever been mistreated in the same way Soren was, she doesn’t act like Soren and she doesn’t get a terribly fleshed out backstory. She gets worried about her mark but this could because of the old woman’s words and not due to any prior mistreatment. However, aside from the funny feeling Vika gets from her, the laguz around her don’t pay much attention to her. The only laguz who do are in the Laguz Alliance and that only seems to be the case because of Daein’s involvement in the war and the fact that the laguz are high on chaotic energy.
If the writers were less afraid of poking the Branded idea, then we could have seen the discrimination that they told us all about. There could have some base conversations with the servants in Begnion (since Ike seems to have a bad habit of overhearing everything) or some generic laguz talking about Soren behind his back. The writers can do vague. I don’t think either Nasir or Stefan actually says the word Branded when talking to Soren. The laguz in the Laguz Alliance should have kicked up a hissy fit when Skrimir started being friendly with Soren because how dare he charm their king.
And I don’t think it’s because the laguz are stupid either. Mordecai makes it clear in his A-Support with Stefan that he actually didn’t know but there are other laguz who should know and don’t say anything. I think it would be weird if Lethe didn’t know. She could have called him a Parentless in chapter 8 and we wouldn’t have know what it meant to them, just that it sounds harsh. Tibarn also seems fairly knowledgeable but he only remarks that he looks young, he doesn’t say anything else.
And I don’t even know what to think when it comes to Zelgius. Unless the Black Knight’s armour blocks the way that the Branded can pick each other out, how come Soren and freaking Micaiah didn’t know? It’s because it’s supposed to be a surprise, and that surprise just seemed underwhelming to me. Other than the fact that it meant he was close to Sephrain for a special reason, you could kind of ignore that he is Branded because the game doesn’t do much with it.
So yeah, as much as I like how the writers built Tellius up, the whole thing with the Branded just seems a little... underwhelming.
