oh hmm... I'm apparently still feverish from covid+flu shot reaction (got shots yesterday)... thought I was done but here's another wave. I'm shivery and have pancake levels of energy and just said something out loud that didn't make sense to others. I am going back to bed. The Cleaning Lady S2

I guess I’m in minority, because all what I’ve seen in the tags was fandom complaining about this seasons being boring (and hating Garrett as useless).

To me it was anything but boring, on the contrary, I found it even too nerve-wracking at times (mostly in a good way); there was one thing after the other, no catching any breaks for any characters, gah.

And it was so hard, rooting for multiple characters with conflicting interests.

It was perfectly normal and understandable that Thony and Fiona and JD would each prioritize their own kid(s), and the tension that was causing between them kept me on my toes throughout the season.

I think JD had come to realize that he can’t really break up Thony and Fiona and their kids no matter how much he wants to protect Jas.

Gah, and Chris and his struggle first for accidentally causing Marco’s death and then in the end choosing to stay with Thony for Luca’s sake despite, understandably, resenting Thony for Fi’s deportation.

I just. My heart breaks for this kid and how grown up he has to be due to the circumstances.

I am probably the only one who feels sorry that Garrett died.

I really liked how they wrote his character progression: he started as a rather shitty human being and a shitty FBI agent, but he’s made so much progress, he started following the rules, doing the right thing both law- and humanity-wise and he even came to realize that he does get too personally involved with his CIs.

And it could’ve been great to watch his development further.

I’d love to see him reconnecting with his son and becoming a good father.

I also really liked both Thony and Arman kinda working together with Garrett, especially the finale/the final scene.

Look, yes, I’ve been low-key shipping these two/three. Of course, I’d never expect the show to go there in canon, but it would be nice to see them occasionally pretend to work together or otherwise. ;)

Then again, I guess they can’t have Tony keep having her personal FBI agent to turn to whenever she’s in trouble with the law.

Especially now that she and Arman took over Kemdar’s crime empire (or at least the drug run.)

If we get S3 – which I hope we do – it’s going to be interesting.

(One speculation only: I do think Nadia will inevitably find out about Arman helping Thony again and kick him out for good. Which is both yay and nay, because I like Nadia and I am also on the verge of low-key shipping these three. :P)

But if it doesn’t get renewed for S3, I think this has been as good of an ending as any. I can just imagine Thony brings Fiona back and everyone lives happily ever after. ;)

funniest thing about letalis? they literally could not function without each other. as much tension as there is within the group, they know outside of their 7 is hell on earth and that's the only thing keeping them together. it was a sigh of relief for everyone in the company when they all renewed their contracts in 2020, but also a huge question mark considering their dynamic has cooled off a little bit since then. the largest concern now is if their new indifference toward each other is enough to keep them together since multiple members are highly successful on their own.

If you're interested in zombies, have you read any good zombie books? World War Z is, ofc, great. But I also want to recommend "Zombies vs Unicorns" bc it's an anthology of short stories by cool contemporary fantasy etc authors and I love the zombie ideas therein

My teenage self used to be more into zombie movies because I just love how bizarre and silly they can get + I had an interest for special effects makeup, but I do have this one book set in Spain, narrated by the perspective of a zombie who makes friends with an 8 year old survivor girl. I don't think it has gotten any english translations sadly, but the title says "Diary of a Zombie".

I love the title of that recommendation though lmao, I'll be sure to try and find it so I can give it a look!! thank you Regal!

The Diplomat S1

Thanks TPTB's this show is already renewed for S2, with that cliffhanger ending...whew!

See, I CAN binge a whole 8-episode show in a week if I put my minds to it! (Then again, I used to be able to binge whole 22-24 episodes in a week, ah the sweet days of my youth... :P)

Anyway, this was on my radar for a while and I heard mixed things about it but as usually pretty gifsets did it for me, and I am so glad I watched this.

It's suspenseful, dynamic, surprising, on-point where real-life/world issues are concerned but not too on the nose about it, and hella funny for a 'serous' show but in a fitting way.

I love love love love love - I can't tell you how much - I love the Wylers! Both individually (okay maybe Kate a bit more individually, but Rufus Sewell is very easy on the eyes ;)) and as a couple.

I think this show is great at portraying a marriage with problems that is not painted black and white, with good and bad things of both characters mixed in but both obviously still caring about each other. Not to mention their banter (as other characters') is stupendous!

The rest of the ensemble of characters/actors is also great, I love Dennison and the poor perpetually harangued Stuart and so on and so forth.

I do have some side ships, including Kate/Dennison - even better, an OT3 with Hal, because, as Cecilia put it, two is better than one.

Looking forward to S2!

I glimpsed a bit of an interview so I think I don't have to be that worried about the aforementioned cliffhanger ending, hopefully.
