VANCOUVER, BC — This week, the Society For Prevention Of Cruelty To Celebrities (SPCC) launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about public figures buckling under a new expense that seems targeted specifically at them. The commercial advocates for compassionate viewers to donate $8 per month to sponsor a celebrity's verified blue checkmark on Twitter.
"Hi, I'm Sarah McLachlan. Please say you will be the answer for an innocent celebrity who is suffering right now from this cruel tax designed to reduce the status of high-status people – the $8 monthly charge for a verified blue checkmark on Twitter." Sarah McLachlan delivers her appeal directly into the camera in the new commercial, gently cradling a scraggly and ill-kempt Stephen King as he moans quietly over the soft crooning of "In The Arms Of An Angel."
The commercial pans over several other destitute Twitter celebrities, including Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who holds out her hand with a poochie lip as the voiceover summarizes options for a one-time gift, monthly pledge, or ‘The AOC Package' – where you "pledge to make everything on Twitter free because, like, shouldn't it be about free speech anyways?"
As the commercial progresses, McLachlan enumerates the needs of wealthy online figures, including shelter, care, and being rescued from bullies who are making them pay a marginal amount for a marginal dose of online status. She even called out to "any widows who may be listening" by asking them to "step out on faith" and give their last $8 to a helpless Twitter celebrity stuck out in the cold.
Since the commercial's airing, $16 has been raised.

My College Journey
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I began considering where I should go college when I was a senior in high school. I do not have a dream school, I just want a school where a can learn a lot. I made the decision to enroll in a public school because my parents cannot afford the high tuition costs. Me and my friends tried PUP (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), PLM (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and UP (University of the Philippines). Sad to say, I didn’t passed in UP and PLM. I was on the waitlisted for PUP and after 3 days, they emailed me to say I didn’t pass. I don’t know what to do. That night, I’m thinking if I will go to college or not. All I want to do is to cry. It’s ok to cry but crying can’t help me to solve that problem, I need to think carefully and be positive.
I choose to enroll in college. Because Manila has numerous universities, me and my friends go there. We enquired about the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management at NU (National University), AU (Arellano University), San Sebastian College, and Makati Science Technological Institute, however, the tuition fee is expensive. I am losing hope at that time. I inform my parents that I will take a year off from school since I know we cannot afford the high cost of attending a four-year university. At that time I’m planning to work and save money so if I can afford the tuition fee, I will go to college. My mother was mad at me and disapproves of my decision. She promised to try her best to help me complete my studies. I want to cry when she said that. Because of what she said, I will do my best to find an affordable school. I’m a senior high school student at SPCC ( Systems Plus Computer College). I asked them if they will give a discount if I enroll there in college because I’m an alumna. They said that the discount is 40 percent, which is a big discount so I enrolled there for college and took a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Operations Management. Even though that is not my dream course, I will still take it because SPCC has only affordable tuition.
I advised to junior and senior high school students to focus on their studies because public colleges will require their grades in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. It is not easy to find a university and it will also be hard to find a job if you didn’t go to college.

Actresses: A Hate Song
I hate Actresses. They get on my nerves.
There are the Adventuresses, The Ladies with Lavender Pasts. They wear gowns that show all their emotions, And they simply can’t stop undulating. The only stage properties they require Are a box of cigarettes and a package of compromising letters. Their Big Scene invariably takes place in the hero’s apartment. They are always hanging around behind screens And overhearing things about the heroine. They go around clutching their temples And saying, Would to God they were good-- Would to God they were!
There are the Wronged Ones; The Girls Whose Mothers Never Told Them. In the first act they wear pink gingham sunbonnets And believe implicitly in the stork. In the third act they are clad in somber black And know that there isn’t any  Santa Claus. They are always going out into the night. They faint a great deal, And if anyone lets them get near the center of the stage They immediately burst into hysterics. They unfortunately never commit suicide until the last act-- It’s always the audience that pays and pays and pays.
Then there are the Musical Comedy Stars; The press-agent’s livelihood. They sing about love--in waltz time-- And they dance as if something were just about to break. They end by appearing in a piece of court plaster And an American flag, And then the audience has to stand up. The show isn’t considered a success Until they climb into a flower-wreathed swing, And swing far out, over the orchestra-- O, that I might be there when the rope breaks.
And there are the Emotional Ones; The ones who say, “i’ll have two lumps of sugar in my tea, please,” In exactly the same tones as they say “Yes, it was I who murdered him.” They are forever tearing their hair-- I hope it hurts them. They shriek at everything, Usually at the hero, And they hurl themselves on the floor at his feet And say they wish it were all over-- They said something.
And then there are the child Actresses Who should be unseen and not heard. They go around telling people about Heaven As if they were special correspondents. They are always climbing up on innocent bystanders And asking them why they look so sad; They eternally bring their fathers and mothers together, Which is always an error of judgment. They never fail to appear in their nightgowns And then kneel down beside the orchestra leader, And say their prayers to the spotlight man,-- I wish I were Commodore Gerry.
I hate Actresses. They get on my nerves.
--Dorothy Parker
Note:  Elbridge Thomas Gerry (December 25, 1837 – February 18, 1927), usually called "Commodore" Gerry due to the office he held with the New York Yacht Club from 1886 to 1892, was an American lawyer and reformer. In 1875 he co-founded the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (SPCC). One of the things he campaigned against was child actors, as he felt they represented child labor.

Recognizing Emotional Abuse
Emotional  abuse is just as hard to define as it is to identify, yet it is not only one of the most damaging kinds of abuse but the least reported. Children are usually unable to recognize abuse in their homes because of their own innocence and therefore when asked are unable to properly define what has happened to them. When professionals themselves have trouble even defining what emotional abuse is or even their origins, what hope do children have of recognizing it in their own life and what can we do to help them? Because of these issues, emotional child abuse is the least recognized form of abuse.
Children are wholly dependent on their caretakers to teach them of the world. A child learns everything from the simplest action of eating or going to the bathroom to guidance on how to navigate the complex world of morality. Trust in a parent is important in the early stages of life. While a small child might not fully understand the consequences of playing too close to a street, they trust their caretaker enough not to. However this trust can work equally to a child’s detriment.
Blind trust in a parent may lead to a child excusing abhorrent behavior all in the name of some ‘greater good’ they are yet to understand. Thus the burden of identifying and reporting child abuse has always fallen on the shoulders of the surrounding adults in their lives.
The problem then becomes, how do we properly identify abuse? For starters, as stated above, there is no agreed upon defintion of child abuse but “it is generally agreed upon by professionals that emotional abuse has to have a history of repeated offense”(Buser, 2019). Raising a child can be difficult and making mistakes is to be expected, thus “one cannot label a parent ‘abusive’ for isolated incidents”(Buser, 2019).
While children who suffer from physical abuse also suffer from similar limitations in order of understanding their abuse, the difference is that physical abuse leaves behind physical markings. It is also much easier to ask a child if they have been hit by their parents and how. Emotional abuse can take so many forms that there is no clear cut yes or no question that could possibly take into account the many ways it can take form.
Because of the nature of emotional abuse, there aren’t any physical indicators of emotional abuse, unlike physical and sexual abuse. Not to mention there are no cut and dry question to ask a child in order to gain insight. Meanwhile, it’s easy to ask a child if they have ever been touched inappropriately or been hit by their parents. In other words, one of the only ways to identify emotional child abuse is by recognizing the behavioral signs.
The symptoms of child abuse are unfortunately very easy to miss, moreso for pubescent children who’s behavior can be easily dismissed to a symptom of puberty. For example, some signs of abuse as stated by The Child Welfare Information Gateway are: sudden changes in behavior or school performance, learning problems, is always watchful as if preparing for something bad, or is overly compliant (Prevent Child Abuse America,2019). None of the above symptoms are isolated to victims of child abuse.
Meanwhile the American SPCC lists symptoms such as being withdrawn, depressed or apathetic, is clingy, exhibits exaggerated fearfulness, is overly rigid in conforming to instructions of teachers, doctors and other adults, and displays exaggerated fears. With these superficial symptoms being explicitly written by medical professional I can personally attest to these symptoms via personal experience. For example, after being told to never go below 60mph on the freeway, I very narrowly escaped a nasty crash after running into traffic on the freeway. While I understood logically that there were several cars stopped in front of me and that if I continued going as fast as I was going, my Father's orders of never going below 60 on the freeway overrode my own common sense and the adult sitting in the passenger's seat had to intervene. In other words I was overly rigidly conforming to instructions of an adult. I was sleep deprived to the point of falling asleep in class, sitting straight up with my head lolled backward and mouth wide open. Meanwhile I had a regular habit of walking through the hallways with my head hung low as I hugged myself, and retracted violently if I bumped into anyone without realizing. All of these are symptoms of child abuse but theyre also all very easy to dismiss. Sleep deprivation is unfortunately common in students, and signs of depression can be blamed on the change in moods of teenagers going through puberty. Skittishness can be attributed to a number of things that have nothing to do with something as extreme as child abuse. Rigidness when it came to following the orders of adults was usually chalked up to stupidity on my part. While it may be easy to make lists of what can constitute emotional abuse, the real challenge is being able to take all these inconspicuous events and putting them together to figure this out.
According to a study, out of the 900,000 children maltreated each year in America each year, a whopping 53.5% is made up of victims of emotional abuse, meanwhile 22.7% make up physical abuse and 11.5% make up sexual abuse (Smith,2004). In spite of the overwhelming amount of children falling victim to this kind of abuse, studies found that even professional counsellors lacked confidence in their ability to identify victims (Buser)
One of the reasons behind this hesitance might be related to the overall effects such a claim could have on the family. The incarceration of a caregiver would have an immense strain on the family both financially and emotionally (Edwards,2019). This disruption might solve one problem but create several more. Studies show that children  on a claim, that might’ve been misguided in the first place.

Norco C-24U Server Cabinet Review

Norco C-24U Server Cabinet Review
Tumblr media
For geeks like me, having a server rack in your basement is just about one of the coolest things you can have. In our last server build, we went the rackmount way, leaving the full towers far behind. This route just gave us more from the platform. With that though, having a rackmount server sitting on a table in the middle of the living room or basement isn’t the best, nor the brightest idea. However, most server racks are just too big to be useful in a home and building one takes a lot of effort. Enter the Norco C-24U cabinet.
Tumblr media
First, this cabinet is a 19″ Server cabinet that fits the bill. The 24U cabinet is big enough to fit just about everything I could want (in my basement) but small enough to be a part of the basement and not take over. Many of us have seen the Norco cases find a home for unRAID builds, but I hadn’t even considered them for server racks, until now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To get some of the small details out of the way, the Norco C-24U is, again, a 24U server rack/cabinet that measures in at 23.62(W) x 31.5(D) x 49(H) inch, weighs close to 200lbs, is made of SPCC cold rolled steel, and is painted with a sinister black powder coating. The rack itself can handle up to 1670lbs of pure computing madness while providing plenty of airflow for the whining fans housed inside; the rack is nearly 71% ventilated.
Features
19″ Sever/Networking Rack Cabinet(600*800*24U)
Compatible with ANSI/EIA RS-310-D,IEC297-2, DIN41494, DIN41494, ETSI standard
23.62(W) x 31.5(D) x 49(H) inch
71% ventilated rate of the high-density vented door
Heavy duty casters and leveling feet
Removable side panels
Designed for enhanced airflow
Four post, depth-adjustable rack system with 19″ mounts and square holes
Perforated roof with cable entry access in the rear
Perforated front and rear locking doors (easily removable)
Some of you may be asking, what do you have that you could possibly want a server cabinet for? Well, for one, the COD Server build, another COD Server build acting as a backup and a domain controller, a media encoding machine, a rackmount switch, a KVM, and a few other small miscellaneous systems. Having systems like this strewn about in my living space caused a bit of friction between myself and the wifey… so I had to clean up my act, the office, and the basement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When shipped, the cabinet will arrive at your door via a delivery service in five rather large boxes strapped to a pallet (4 shown). Unpacking reveals a slew of parts and some good old-fashioned assembly instructions. Now when I say old-fashioned, I actually mean useless. For the most part, most of us assemble furniture or household items following along intently; Norco, however, has provided instructions that are illegible, unintelligible, and indiscernible. Thankfully, quick thinking folks like us hit the web to find some legible instructions (with color) on the product page – LINK. Honestly though, the cabinet is easy enough to put together without them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Product assembly was in the neighborhood of around an hour. All the things you would expect are available, but some consideration must be made for spacing of the server mounting racks. Norco provides you with enough leeway to configure the rails to your liking, but assembly without planning will usually require some reassembly. For instance, COD’s Server build uses a rather deep SilverStone RM420 chassis which requires the racks to be spaced farther apart and closer to the front. However, with this configuration, installation of a Rosewill RSV-L4412 would require the removal of the front bezel and handles in order to close the cabinet door.
Tumblr media
Once the assembly is complete, the cabinet’s industrial appearance reveals quality craftsmanship and that deep dark black powder coated aesthetic that can bring your inner Vader out for display. Each of the cabinet’s side panels are removable, feature quick release handles, and the front and back doors both feature the same latching mechanism that can be locked. While the front door features some beveling, the back door doesn’t. The latches are strong and once you press the release mechanism (the key hole) the latch presents itself with authority.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The top of the cabinet has cutouts for ventilation and two removable panels, while the bottom sports seven removable panels to suit any purpose. The cabinet also rides on heavy-duty casters and employs four leveling feet for a fixed implementation. The bottom supports are spot welded in place. If you were to ask me, I would prefer to see better and more frequent welds, but that doesn’t mean that this is frail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is an area between the folded steel, at each corner, that becomes a black hole of sorts; any items dropped during assembly of anything internal somehow finds its way between this space and is lost forever, unless you have a strong magnet and an iron will.
Tumblr media
Inside, the rails are clearly marked for proper server installation and the included square holes allow for the installation of nearly any type of hardware. Square holes provide the most flexibility for your configuration.
When all is said and done, the cabinet is strong, sturdy, and easy on the eyes. At less than $600 USD, there isn’t much out there that can beat its quality and cost. The Norco C-24U Rack Cabinet is perfect for those that don’t need more than 24U, have space restrictions or are looking for a high-quality rack cabinet at an affordable price.
I have experimented with building rack cabinets in the past, and each time the cost rises to nearly the cost of purchasing one. Although my carpentry skills aren’t exactly stellar, I can handle tools and cut straight, but something always seems to be misaligned. If you are in the market for a 24U cabinet look no further, the C-24U is top notch.

I was wondering how does one make cc? i want to make cc of those ring splints for finger hypermobility and maybe compression gloves as I cant find them anywhere. What would you say the best way to go about making them is? thank you!
I love those ideas! I made a set of gloves ages ago, but they're awful.
What you'll need to make any piece of cc is Sims4Studio (free) and a photo editor like Photoshop. I use a free one called Krita but I've dabbled in GIMP too (some things require a Normal Map and/or a Specular Map, which you have to save as a .DDS file; you can't do that in Krita, but you can in GIMP and Photoshop).
To make a mesh, you need Blender (free). There are pay 3D editors too like Autodesk Maya and others but Blender is awesome and free. On the download page for Sims4Studio, it'll tell you which version of Blender to download.
Youtube tutorials are you best friend for real! You probably won't find much in exactly what you're making, but it depends on if you want to make just a texture or a mesh. A texture example would be a lipstick, eyeshadow, any makeup really. Making a mesh can make something 3D, like a shirt, pants, any build/buy item. But a mesh will also need a texture.
Here is a list on just making a texture (any of their tutorials will help!! i've watched a ton!)
Here is a tutorial on what cc creators call "frankenmeshing" or putting a few EA meshes together to make something new
Syboulette has made awesome speedmeshing videos and tutorials!
I search "ts4 cc tutorials" or "ts4 blender" on youtube.
There are literally (probably) infinite ways to make a piece of cc, because it just comes down to how you want to make it. As for the compression gloves, you could make them just a texture of compression gloves by finding gloves you like online (like a royalty free picture or something, or a product that is being sold maybe to take inspiration from), and use that texture. Or, you could draw it from scratch yourself in the photo editor. After you make the texture, you import it into s4s, and decide whether or not you want it to look 3D. You could do this by ACTUALLY making it 3D by creating a mesh for it, making a Normal (Bump) Map, or just leaving it as if it's laying on the arm. Then, for the specular map, you decide if you want all or some of the texture shiny. If not, then don't make a specular map.
I know all of that is confusing if you've never made CC before; hell, it's still confusing to me (I'm still learning DDS files and maps). Honestly, I started with makeup and different textures then moved on to meshing. I found it easier that way!
Sorry for how long winded that was, but I hope it helped! Good luck and I can't wait to try out your cc! :)
