Henry: "You mentioned that sometimes you can love and love and love someone, and no matter what you do, they don't love you back. Well sometimes, you can love and love and love someone who isn't good to you, and no matter how bad they are, you still love them."
(Episode 13: Terry Jr. and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Dad)
The unintentional foreshadowing of this quote kills me. Was absolutely smacked in the face with dramatic irony when relistening to this episode.
Of course Henry would say this. It's such an excellent thing for him to say, because loving the world and everyone in it is the core of his character. He explicitly tells Lark and Sparrow to love everyone like they love each other, on the precipice of a major battle with someone who defined Henry's misery.
Henry loves so, so much, to the point of tearing himself apart.
Because eventually, what Henry describes to Ron, happens to him. Someone he loves with his whole soul doesn't (CAN'T) love him back anymore. Someone he loves more than anything hurts him, in more ways then one.
But never, ever, will Henry be able to stop loving his son, no matter what.
