Can someone tell me why there are hundreds and hundreds of (most probably) b/0ts that have been following me non-stop this past week? 😭 any idea of what I should do about it?

#I swear it's more than one thousand now and I don't know if these are genuine people making a new account or just b/0ts #they don't have a pfp and their username is often pretty generic

Periodic Reminder

If you're new to Tumblr, welcome! It's a lot of fun here.

But, I implore you to do a few things.

Put up something as an avatar / icon / pfp / whatever you call it. It's wise for this NOT to just be a photo of person; but if you want it to be a photo of your favorite movie character or something, move on to the other steps.

Either reblog a few things that you're interested in, or make your Likes public and like some things you're interested in. (Note: making your Likes public is a choice, and most people do NOT make their Likes public, and that is fine! I think a lot of the pornbots have their likes public because, well, they're pornbots so a bot is just automatically picking options that most human beings don't pick. If you really really want your likes to be public, though, that's okay too.)

Give your blog a little title, or use the subtitle. (Note: lol I haven't done this either, my blog title is the same as my name; but my blog is also customized.)

The whole point is, we're in the middle of another wave of porn-bots. And some of the hallmarks of a porn-bot blog are:

An avatar that is a photo of a person, usually a young woman, usually trying to look sexy in some way. OR, one of the generic avatars that Tumblr gives you if you don't choose one. (The problem with that is that there ARE real people who use those because they're fond of them, so it's not always a giveaway.)

A username that is often a combo of firstname-lastname-numbers; but they're also starting to just be kind of randomly generated.

A blog title/subtitle that makes it pretty clear they are trying to solicit interest from people who want porn sites (the easiest to spot will mention their onlyfans rating or something).

A blank blog, with no reblogs or likes.

(Or sometimes there will be a few reblogs or likes, but they'll have no coherence to them; or, the porn-bot will make it sporting and they'll have reblogs of soft-porn or actual porn and then that makes it easy. Likes or reblogs done by a real person just tend to have a sense of coherence that bots can't match.)

I'm really sorry, but if you follow me, and your avatar is just the face of a pretty young woman, AND there is nothing at all on your blog... I'm reporting and blocking you.

I'll try and explain how you give off vibes of the top of that article, but idk how well I will do, since it's an instinctive thing (it actually feels pretty similar to the whole "what colour is [school subject]" thing to me)

The way the first paragraph has a bunch of citations, numbers, weird things in brackets, and the citations start at 9, while the second one is pretty much just normal text gives me similar feelings reading it to reading one of your posts, and the style feels similar in some abstract way. The map makes me think of your profile picture, with the southern continent looking a bit like the mustache, and the other landmasses being the ears and the grey markings at the top of the head. The proportions are all wrong, but it has a similar kind of overall structure. It talks about early plants, and the whole subject of early plants matches the aesthetics of your blog in a way I can't explain well. There are other aspects that are part of the connection as well, but I have even less of an idea of how to explain them than the other parts, sorry.

I mean, I can somewhat understand how having lots of things in brackets and lots of citations is similar to how I write - I often put tangentially connected thoughts and information in brackets interrupting my main point. I also heavily make use of sources when possible, because I like having evidence for what I say, which I guess Wikipedia does as well?

I can very very very faintly see what you mean by the map looking somewhat like my profile picture, but I wouldn't have made any connection without being told what you think the similarities are. The moustache on my pfp was a decision based on the fact my original username wasn't available. I swear it wasn't done to create a link between the map of the late Devonian and myself

I don't know whether being aesthetically compared to the subject of early plant life is a compliment or not but I'll take it as one. Maybe my general interest in things like evolution and prehistoric stuff? Wild

I'm gonna lay myself bare, here: I literally found it on a list of potential usernames I'd made when I was in SIXTH GRADE. None of them were good, but for some reason THIS is the one I chose 😭 In my defense, I didn't realize I'd actually use this sideblog when I made it, and by the time I realized I was more active on this than my main it was too late to change :')) I like to think I've gotten better at writing since I was twelve, at least!

Yes, three! This is one of them, and then I have another dedicated to just doing image descriptions and one more where I reblog art for fandoms I'm not but wanna appreciate works for! The latter is newer, it was just a saved url I had for a while before I decided I could use it to get over my guilt from ignoring great posts I had little to no context for

Three years, I think?? WILD, it feels like it's been so much more

4- Do you have a queue tag?

I do, it's #that's my queue! Possibly not as witty as I thought it was when I conceived of it, but it serves me well! It posts three times a day and usually has a backlog for ten days (I actually get antsy if it dips below 30 posts, which is... insane, I think)

5- Why did you start your blog in the first place?

This was meant to be an overflow blog for Every Other Fandom I was in during my days as a hardcore Sanders Sides fan, but inevitably my obsession with that ran out, and now this is still that but with even more fandoms; my main is basically just funny text posts and videos now

6- Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

MOB PSYCHO SEASON THREE, BABY! I actually broke my no-characters-as-icons rule for Mob because I love him so much and was so excited :)

To be completely honest, it was the only aesthetic photo I could find that I liked and also went with my theme, but, aha, MP100 fans will probably recognize that there's a pretty mean reference there too

My Art

Im ganna go over some things with my art!

First off, the digital art program i use is IbisPaint X on my phone! i use pretty much only custom brushes created by myself! (im not too comfortable sharing my custom brushes with others. maybe if you are a close friend!)

With Traditional art, i mostly use studio series markers and caliart markers! caliart markers are some of the best alcohol markers I've ever used and i highly recommend getting some for yourself!

Most of my digital artwork takes usually under an hour and a half to complete, sometimes it goes over 2 hours. but most of the time its an hour or less.

Traditional art,,, im not sure. i don't usually time myself or pay attention to the time when drawing!

Im a pretty much self taught artist? i consider myself one at least!

Here are some rules about using my art and etc!

I don't do commissions! i might if ur a close friend, but i often lose the motivation to complete art when i do commissions, and i also have no way to currently collect money for commissions either. very sorry!

I don't often do art collabs or art trades either, but i might!! :)

Please, do not use my artwork anywhere without asking me first!

If you're going to use my art for anything, whether it be a pfp or a profile banner, something for a fanfic you're writing, decoration for a chat on amino or discord and etc, just a repost in general, and ETC, PLEASE ASK ME FIRST! don't be afraid to ask! im most likely going to say yes anyways, but i want to be able to know that my artwork is being used!

I absolutely ADORE crows/ravens/corvids in general and my usernames/urls have had something to do with crows/corvids since UHHH like college-ish?? My primary one used to be "TheCrowsFeather" but then I eventually decided I liked the image of a dapper lil Crow in like... a lil top hat with a monocle and spats on his feet and GentlemanCrow sounded really cute?? Also with the added benefit of people being able to shorten it to just call me "Crow" online and I liked that too!

OH crap uhhh I think I made this blog originally in summer 2011?? I used it pretty extensively/primarily until about 2016ish when most of my friends gravitated toward Tw*tter instead. So there's a gap there! 1. why did you choose your url?

I wanted something as far as possible from my usual username that people irl know. So I came up with edgy pretentious thing.

I do have one, but it's just a side dump for nsfw or fics I want to read later.

The earliest posts I have are dated June 2014. Soooo 7 years.
