What’s you process for having 2 characters interacting in an art piece? Do you draw one and then the other or do you switch back and forth?

HM okay so. i thought about this for a while bc i don't...i don't usually Think too much when im drawing i just kinda do it at this point after practicing this much THAT SAID. after all my thinking, i have an answer:

scenario one: characters barely touching

in this scenario i can draw the characters in any order i want, usually one and then the other

scenario two: characters touching equally, neither leaning particularly hard on the other

in this scenario i draw both characters at the same time, starting with the heads, and then drawing their structures intermingled

scenario three: one character being the weight-bearing-character

when one character is holding up the other or contributing structurally more to the form than the other, i draw the one which is more structurally important first, and then i draw the other one

ahhh interesting, to be honest i don't even do that intentionally, i just internalized the concept of kakashi the scarecrow, his clothes hang off of him as such:

though. to be fair. i would not be surprised if he buys a size or two larger than he actually needs

favorite thing about them —he's SO FUNNY. he looks so grumpy about everything, he desperately wants people to feel his soft little paws, and he is such a perfect contrast to Kakashi. i love pakkun so much.

least favorite thing about them —we should have MORE PAKKUN SCREENTIME. THANK YOU. everything else is perfect.

favorite line —this isn't a line but i like when shikamaru scruffed him and started playing with his jowels and pakkun tolerated it for a bit before biting. talk about restraint! that is an incredibly polite dog!

brOTP —Kakashi. obviously. kakashi is his guy his human his boss!!!! other than that, maybe bull? they seem to work together really frequently. i think they're a team

OTP —he is a dog, i cannot imagine shipping a dog.

nOTP —he is a dog. i cannot imagine having any strong feelings over shipping a dog.

random headcanon —pakkun actually doesn't like to be petted all that much? he's extremely tolerant and will allow kakashi to stroke him, and will even enjoy it on occasion, but it's not something he seeks out very much, honestly. If you were to pet him, he would just kind of stare at you blankly, and when you stopped he might even stand up and shuffle away as though to say "ok. we're done now." a dog who was enjoying being petted, would wave a paw or nudge you to try and solicit continued pettings, rather than moving away, or not responding. he does really like when he puts his paw out and people hold it though. weird little guy!

unpopular opinion —this isn't controversial i don't think, it's just not popular, but in modern AUs (which i. admittedly rarely indulge in), I like to think that Bull and Pakkun work with Kakashi as a three-point service dogs + handler team. In real life, individuals having more than one active service dog is very uncommon (aside from periods where a service dog in training and a soon-to-retire service dog are both active), mostly because acquiring, training, and providing for even a singular service dog can be incredibly expensive, and in many cases, it's much easier to have one dog who can do all the necessary tasks, rather than split up tasks and duties between two different dogs, especially since two dogs would be more likely to attract attention and public interference, unfortunately. It's very easy to see Kakashi's canonical disabilities w/in naruto the series and extrapolate them into real life. His chakra exhaustion could be easily interpreted to be chronic fatigue, or even chronic pain, as well as his multiple indications of PTSD within the show, + other indications that could be used to form an idea for how Kakashi's disabilities might manifest inside + outside of the naruto universe. I see pakkun as being his primary medical alert dog, letting him know before a wave of fatigue, migraine, medical flare-up, or possibly even sense + indicate an oncoming panic attack or dissociative episode, that way Kakashi would be prepared to deal with whatever was coming in advance, and be able to better mitigate the symptoms of his disabilities. Additionally, for the PTSD, bc of his much much smaller size, and because small dogs tend to have much lighter sleep cycles I think it would probably be more convenient for him to interrupt Kakashi's nightmares than Bull if needed—and, for similar small size reasons, would probably be much easier for him to preform very quick room-searches while Bull and Kakashi wait, if that was a task which Kakashi needed. (if ur curious, Bull, I think, would mostly be handling mobility tasking, this includes helping Kakashi walk if he's experiencing symptoms of pain or fatigue, fetching items which may be heavy or light, and returning them to Kakashi's hand, and even blocking if Kakashi was in a crowded space where people were getting a little bit too close, and he felt uncomfortable. these are all tasks which would be, if not impossible for a small dog like Pakkun, then very difficult for him)

Do you think Kakashi has ever given Tenzo something to wear with a henohenomoheji on it as a joke?

GHGHSHGH this is such a funny idea...in my witch hat atelier au all of the kids have the henohenomoheji on the backs of their cloaks, as does kakashi himself. would he give it to tenzō though....ah i don't know......

theres a bit of a wobbly middle space here, and it is a very affectionate middle space to be sure, but it is the area between "you matter to me a lot, and i am claiming u as a friend, as family" and tenzō's potential sensitization to marks of "belonging" in a...very particular way...(being identified by his relation to hashirama + possibly being made to wear his hair like him, being marked by Root and Anbu both, etc, etc)

like. he adores kakashi obviously. he would not read into that gesture in a negative way. but...hm...it could still be a loaded gesture if not done in the right way, u know?

u say "as a joke" BUT i can't help but think of it as "a sincere gesture with the flimsy excuse of a joke to protect them both from looking too deeply at the earnestness of their friendship"

how about...how about a house sweater? something comfortable, and which only really has a private purpose, so there'll be no pressure to go wandering around konoha with the henohenomoheji on his back. i think he would enjoy that kind of gift very much.

#yamswers #thidmus #hes the only hinged door because: #1) he doesn't usually come in thru peoples windows. he uses doors. this is normal #and respectable behavior in a village of batshit shinobi #2) i feel like hes also a lot more emotionally grounded than most shinobi. his values are very much in the right place #i mean hes still in konoha and he is raising kids to be the best killers they can be but like #compared to even. yamato or kakashi. i feel like thats a solid place to be #gai is similarly solid in values i think #its just that nobody could call him grounded or hinged. hes full of love but hes off his fucking rocker #anyway if you want really well drawn traditional art of iruka i recommend the blog #aratribow #because they have a lot of iruka art and it is very lovely n they use markers and watercolors n such too

i mean. technically speaking. most human beings, including kakashi, could get the stress version of "the zoomies" that i discuss in the tags although just personally i would prefer to avoid using that word to refer to human activity and behavior at large, because it is a word used specifically to refer to the behavior of domestic pets, its uncomfortable at best to apply it to human beings

the best human-applicable term i've seen used to describe specifically this type of stressed out in-body energy which needs an outlet was "highly charged survival energy" or sometimes just "survival energy" (from peter levine) although i still haven't come across a specific word which encompasses all physical actions taken to resolve that energy

like when i was a kid and i was done watching an action movie (spy kids or whatever) i'd have all this left over stress and tension from watching and empathizing with fictional characters dealing with fictional stressors. so i'd run around and bounce and do rolls on or off the couch to get that energy out. very simple. didn't have to think about it much.

lots of people when we're older just go on a run about it, or pace, or do some other somewhat frenetic activity. in college i would wash the dishes at high speeds to destress.
