I feel bad to the women who have mothers that still believe men should be attended to at all times. That a woman is nothing without a man. Because my mom always told me to live for me. To study hard and get a job that would pay enough for a whole family without any worries. That if ever, a man threatens to leave me, I could happily pack my bags and walk out the door because I don't need a man. I got family to help me, and a job to keep me fed and feed children if I had any. She always told me to be a woman that could stand on her own two feet, and be able to carry children on my back as I kicked a man who hurt me. She doesn't want me to be whipped around a mans finger. She wants me to have a life with a man who is respectable and loves me. But if ever, I had a man that wasn't and didn't, I could joyfully live my own life without him. Without her words, I wouldn't be studying so hard for me. But to know there are women with barely to no support from their moms, breaks my heart. Like fellow ladies, a man doesn't own you. You own yourself. Love yourself.
