I got further in my Xbox playthrough over the holiday break and I took a TON of screenshots between the end of Cartanica and where I stopped halfway through Zegnatus. I’ll upload in order later, but oh! This sequence breaks my heart!

Noctis losing his last link to home, his safe place, the vehicle that’s carried him so far...never thought I’d cry that much for a car, that’s for sure!

Thankfully, Ignis comes to the rescue in more ways than one, defeating a malboro and then yelling at everyone to clear the air. The boys leave the mine better of than they were when they went in, and with a new weapon for Noctis’s armory.

The tension only got worse having to plod through rain and swamp and darkness to power an engine while the Noctis and Gladio picked at each other, Prompto desperately tried to stay cheerful, and Ignis struggled. Not even Cup Noodles helped.

So, this may not be news to anyone else, but I was playing tonight checking some things in Altissia for fic research, and...I think I found the location in Altissia of Episode Ignis! It’s bothered me ever since I played it that I wasn’t sure where he was supposed to be, but...this looks like a pretty close match! You can see the area from the main game in the bottom left of the second and third screenshot--and the Altar of the Tidemother in all of them, as well!

This is Ignis and Noctis (Theo) from When You Come Back to Me Again, a post-canon AU I’m writing where six months after defeating Ardyn and the dawn returning, a young man with dark hair and numerous scars washes up on the beach of a small fishing village in far northern Cavaugh with no memory of his previous life. He settles into his new role as a fisherman, but has only vague clues as to who he may have been before.

Several years later, Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio visit the town after it reestablishes contact with Insomnia, and are all taken aback by this “Theo”’s resemblance to Noctis.

Could it somehow be him? And in the end, does it even matter?
