me: is nathaniel's / captain atom's creation and new origins in the 80s solo comic really a political statement or am i just reaching?

also me: he is a political statement because his entire comic centers around the topics of what corruption really looks like in the u.s.a.f., and given the fact that he is a vietnam war vet that was framed for a crime he never committed or had a hand in doing, i think it says a lot things really. another thing that says a lot of things is the usage of a nuclear bomb in the experiment that nathaniel underwent when he was manipulated into either be executed or do the "science experiment" that ultimately had little to no chances of survival; so yes i do believe that captain atom is a political character that was made in the 60s during the height of the cold war, and then was remade later in the 80s as a vietnam war veteran, considering that the original charlton comic was made during that time period and DC had thought it'd be best suited if they didnt erase it but instead make a more compelling and political storyline for the character that was going to be written in the 80s.

Silent War

Hello, I'm a U.S.A.F. veteran with 22 years military service. I'm both retired and disabled. Many citizens are unaware of a silent war that has been waged between veterans and our political leaders for decades. Party affiliation is irrelevant in this war considering both parties choose to ignore it. The war involves decades old policies and statutes that govern veteran disability. It's a system that I have named "Rob Peter to pay Peter". Every veteran discharged has the opportunity to file for VA disability. These disabilities are defined as "service connected", or a disability caused by performing your assigned duties. The kicker for retiree's is this, I will be very candid and use my personal finance information to describe it. My pre-disability retirement pay is $21,000 annually, I'm rated at 20% disability, monthly I earn about $1783. So where does 20% disability factor in? $1783 X 20% = about$256.60. This is not in addition to my pension, its first deducted by the VA reducing my pension to $1527. My pension is then taxed and sent to my account. The VA then cuts me a check for the $256 tax free. So what is the actual benefit VA disability? A token reduction of my tax burden payed for by me.
