1. The Big Event took place at 8:30am, March 16, 2019, at Hume Field with a couple speeches and rewards being announced. Ian Green, the student government President at the University of Florida, gave an educational and motivational speech to all of the people who came out to the event and then signaled everyone off to their sites (there were approximately 44 sites).

2. Katelyn Stahl, Lydia Reimer, Emily Tobkes, Katheryne MacDonald, Abbie Wolfe, and Alexa Schummer (left to right) are all members of the organization Alpha Omicron Pi. This organization won a $300 gift card for having the highest attendance out of all of the organizations that came out to The Big Event.

3. The Big Event is a nationwide service event that started at UF just three years ago and continues to be an annual event every spring for multiple organizations and individuals to attend. The majority of the volunteers cleaned up trash just as Jessi Gargiulo, sophomore and member of Alpha Omicron Pi at UF, is spotted doing here in this photo.

4. This beautiful piece of land is called Depot Park and has many different areas that wrap around the large pond. The area had a large amount of trash that needed to be picked up from previous visitors and the volunteers did an outstanding job doing so.

5. Hannah Jacobs, sophomore at the UF, was assigned to site 43 at Depot Park. She is a dedicated volunteer and enjoys cleaning up the community.

6. Hannah Gilman and Danielle Levine (left to right), both freshmen and members of Alpha Epsilon Phi at UF, were designated to clean up specifically on the campus grounds. They started by Hume Field and then worked their way down Museum Road, collecting cans and other pieces of trash on the way.

7. These women were walking the Lake Alice trail to clean up and preserve the land. This was labeled as site 18 and located off of Museum Road as well.

8.Leacy Burton (the woman in the grey tank top) a freshman and member of Alpha Omicron Pi at UF, discovered a Gatorade bottle and pieces of plastic trash at the trail. She was diligently working to maintain the natural beauty at Lake Alice along with other volunteers by putting this garbage where it belongs.

Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women distinguishes itself in the fraternity and sorority world by leading the way as one of the first of seven founding members of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Pi Phi was also the first to organize a national philanthropic project, form an alumnae department and establish an Alumnae Advisory Committee (AAC) for each collegiate chapter.

Today, Pi Beta Phi continues to encourage women to develop meaningful relationships as they reach for their personal goals. Collegiate membership in Pi Beta Phi and the relationships it yields help members adjust to college life by providing a sense of belonging, mutual support and leadership development. As an alumna, members are part of a network of sisterhood and friendship of more than 200,000 sisters worldwide.
