I don't know if this counts for "gen ascendancy", because I realized only after writing that neither Un'hee or Eli show up in the Ascendancy books, but uhhhhhh have some father daughter bonding.

There's light Thranto, but Thrawn doesn't actually show up it's just like "dads" and it's "their" house, etc.

“Eli?”

The small voice surprised him, and he looked up from his questises. Thunhe, standing the doorway, looking meek, was the culprit.

“Yeah sweetheart?”

Even in the dark, he could tell she blushed a bit at the old term of endearment. She was a midager now, and had long started to tell him to cut it with the pet names. But when she was going to come to him in the middle of night, holding an old stuffed animal to her chest… he was going to go full in on the reassuring affection.

“I… I had a nightmare.”

Instantly, he put down the questis. Work could wait–technically, it should’ve already been put aside hours ago.

“Hey, alright. It’s okay. Do you want to stay here, or?”

One of her hands clenched around the plushie in her arms. “I… can you just come put me back to sleep? I know it’s stupid, but–”

“Hey. It’s not stupid.” He got to his feet, stretching with a few creaks and pops as he did, before heading over to meet her in the doorway. It wasn’t far between his and Thrawn's home office and her room, and soon he was tucking her back into the blankets, and brushing a stray blue hair out of her face.

“There. Safe and sound. Need anything else?”

She avoided his gaze, but nodded.

He gave it a minute, but… “Thunhe, you’re going to have to tell me what you’re looking for here, I can’t read your mind,” he said with a small chuckle.

She bit her lip. “Can–Can you stay? I just– I don’t want to be alone again, I don’t want to–” She took in a shuddering breath, and Eli felt his heart cracking.

“Of course, Thunhe.” Mentally, he did a quick check of his current clothes. He didn’t want to leave her to go change if she was this rattled. Luckily, he was in decently comfortable enough clothing. “Alright, scooch over so I can fit.”

Chuckling wetly, she scooched to one side of the bed, pulling her stuffed nightdragon closer to her chest. Eli pulled the covers over a bit, and relaxed back against the headboard.

It wasn’t long before his teenager had given up all pretense of aloofness, and instead curled into his side. Curled into the fetal position, with her arms tightly hugging her dragon and her head buried against him and the plushie’s soft fabric, he could almost see her transform back into the tiny malnourished and traumatized girl he’d first met years ago.

He let his arm drift into a soft curl around her shoulder, and rested his head against the propped-up pillows. He’d almost certainly have a crick in his everything when he woke up (stupid aging body), but he wasn’t going to risk waking his baby up.

He looked down at his daughter one more time, and wished he could get a picture of it. It was so rare nowadays that she left herself be his kid, let herself really and completely seek assurance from her dads. And she just looked so sweet.

Wait. He had a holocomm in his pocket.

Trying his best not to jostle her, he snuck his other hand into his pocket, and pulled out the holocomm. With the quick press of a button, he had the photo, and he sent it to his (main) personal questis. A second later, it was on its way to Thrawn as well, a sweet little surprise for him whenever he got off shift on the Patience.

And with that, he returned the comm to his pocket, rested his head further back against the pillows, and drifted off to sleep too.

I did not expect to end Treason shipping Eli and Vah'nya, I fully expected to find them the typical shoed in pairing after the publishers saw the main pair to come out of the first book was gay.

But Zahn did great starting off with telling their feelings then showing their trust in each other. How deep it goes. How she trusts him to kill her and the little ones, how deep the trust is that Un'hee's mind knows to trust him. How he shares info with her. How he doesn't choose to see Thrawn at the end, but remains on the Steadfast when they're finally safe.

And the brainrot of the years to follow- because they have time. They have time to fall in love past their early crush and friendship. I have so much post Treason thoughts that I've only had in my mind for 11 hours but also-they have time and years and Thranto doesn't and it's so much funner to explore the time after Treason. At least until we get Ahsoka :/ But Ahsoka has so much room to screw so much up in my eyes. I'm terrified of Ahsoka screwing up my Rebels and Chiss families.

It's sweet to imagine them caring for Un'hee. Helping her through her trauma over the next couple years until she's calling them mom and dad and after their sights fade, they adopt her and give her a little sibling and she's never forced to babysit-they want her to be a teenager, but she spends hours with their bio kids, so gentle with them. So they never have to feel the harshness she and their parents went through. Un'hee is the gentlest big sister in the galaxy and it breaks their heart now shared hearts-because they remember the traumatized seven-year-old girl who clung to them, only trusting them and Ar'alani. And she'll do anything to protect their children from the darkness that threatens outside the walls of the life they all fought to have together.

But that's the point. They have each other, their family of four or five and that's all they've needed in the world. It's fun and sweet and that's why they're fun.

I have ideas and I kinda feel guilty because I started out shipping Thranto and I do but literally everyone does so I feel wrong to ship Eli with someone else but screw it. People ship Eli and Kallus. I can go the bi route and ship Eli and Vah'nya.

(I think what did me in was the hand thing in Treason. How he went to remove his from her shoulder and she grabbed it. It's my Pride and Prejudice era heart loving simple gestures like meaningful hand holding)

Okay, so I've been suffering from Writer's Block and @reythemandalor asked for a Thranto fic due to another Covid Quarantine and the Inspiration struck.

It's a story of Un'hee trying to protect her Dad at all costs from this bad blue man and then realizing that he isn't really that bad XD Basically the plot of how Thrawn makes friends, in general, but with family fluff <3

I want to know about "husbands" 😭😭

Husbands is set shortly after Thrawn’s gone off whale-watching with Ezra.  It’s basic premise is that Chiss practice spouse sharing, so when Eli and Thrawn wed in secret in the Empire, Eli was in fact also marrying Thrass. (Thrawn may have neglected to mention this.)

So now with Thrawn MIA Eli has to deal with his surprise husband and the Aristocra’s inquest into what happened to Un’hee.  It’s some nice slowburn Eli/Thrass with a bunch of both of them being Dads for Un’hee.

Also there’s some Ronbi.

Ronan was watching him. Well, he was watching Un'hee.

“What?” Eli asked.  

“It's... I thought for a while they were Jedi, but that's not … right is it?”

Eli shook his head.  “remember the Jedi were like a religion.  They took children in and made them Jedi but those kids were still different.  I'm not an expert, but I think if a navigator had wound up in the Republic she probably would have become a Jedi... But maybe not- you probably remember better than me but the Jedi could do things with their powers- push and pull things and jump large distances- all these girls can do is see the future, and it doesn't last.”

Ronan seemed thoughtful.  

“What makes you ask?” Eli said.

“My ...friend I told you about.  His niece is a navigator and he adores her.”  

Eli smiled. “Most people do adore children Ronan.”

Ronan scoffed and flapped a hand at him.  “I just...  I worried for a while that...”  He frowned and pursed his lips.

Eli laughed,  “Did you think there was a little girl conspiracy to overthrow the government?”

“No.”

Un'hee stirred against his shoulder.  She whined a little and blinked up at Eli, pouting.

“Sorry I woke you honey.” Eli said.  “Are you plotting to overthrow the government and become Queen Un'hee?”

Un'hee's nose wrinked up.  “That sounds hard.”

Eli grinned. “It would be.”

“I see your point.” Ronan huffed. “I did say I was worried Vanto.”

Un'hee twisted to look at Ronan.

“Oh,” she said. “You're Mi'yaric's uncle's boyfriend.”

Ronan sputtered.  “Boyfriend?”

“Wait,” Eli said.  “Mi'yaric's uncle? Your 'friend' is Chaf'orm'bintrano?”

“We aren't boyfriends.”  Ronan told Un'hee.

“Mi'yaric says you are.” Un'hee replied.

Eli was still in shock.  Chaf'orm'bintrano was  an asshole.

...So perfect for Ronan.

“Congratulations.”  Eli managed, barely restraining a laugh.

Ronan sputtered even more. “We aren't-”

“Did he tell you to call him Formbi?” Eli asked. “Because if he did then I bet you are.”

Ronan blushed but didn't say anything.

Some Chiss(And 1 honorary Chiss!) Sims! Kinda veered it towards adapting my image of what they look like in the books(Save for Eli-but I already had a good Eli sim from when we got a good clothing update) vs what they would wear if I did a Sims save file.

Che'ri(I had this specific dress in mind for her while reading tbh), Thrawn(CDEF not Imperial), Vah'nya, Thalias(Her hair has side braids going into her ponytail), Ar'alani(Her hair is so pretty, but clothing was a lost cause), Eli, and Un'hee.

Aw both kids ended up with their adopted dads. Other than Ar'alani's clothes and having to find better shoes for Thalias, I like them though. I do have a save file idea, but with Thralias/Vhanto(Not ruling out the idea of Thranto on the side though cause what's Sims 4 without scandals?) and the little ones being born so I get to raise them(They'd be so cute as toddlers together!). And likely Ar'alani there as the cool bestie cause we need Ar'alani. Let's be real.

I wrote out a really long Vahnto idea that I kinda want to share but I know no one cares and I feel like I need to read the Ascendancy books before I write it to get a good grasp of Chiss culture/politics/etc but also I want to share it.

But long story short the whole Eli doesn't want to ask Vah'nya out due to not knowing Chiss rules on crew members dating and not wanting to find out the hard way is horrible foreshadowing, not because it's members of the Steadfast dating. But because she is classified as a Navigator and by law, it's a capital crime to engage in anything romantic or sexual with navigators. It comes from a very dark history.

Which worked because before Vah'nya, no navigator had ever reached the Chiss age of majority. But she's 24 when Eli, 37 years old, asks her out. They've been friends/ignoring their feelings for 3 years at this point. Un'hee calls her Ticsen'i(Mama) and him a Basic word-Dad. They spent so many early, dark nights together, helping her through nightmares in his quarters, falling asleep on either side of her only when her small body falls peaceful. They have friends-she has friends. They trust each other when they feel weak, because they know the judgement will never come from the other. After every battle, neither will relax until they know the other is safe.

They love each other, falling in love is the natural next step. She doesn't hesitate when he asks if they can rent a private dining room the next week-just the two of them, as a date. Because it was always coming. And the kiss after the second dinner date. So many star systems and light years have seen them daydream of that moment.

Ar'alani is so happy for them-but as admiral, she has to report them. It could result in Eli's death either way, but this way she can add a petition for an exception to be made for them. Vah'nya is clearly no child-she has served the Steadfast for 18 years. She is an adult and more than deserves to control her personal life. Surprisingly, Eli doesn't recieve an instant death penalty. They agree to debate an exception as Vah'nya is well over the age of majority.

It's a hard 10 months of following guidelines and sneaking into places so they can be together properly. Of the stuffy Aristoca arguing over their lives as if they aren't in the room when they're at Csilla. Some politicians has Vah'nya assessed for trauma signs on the Steadfast and she nearly loses it-she will put up with it on Csilla, but not in their home(ship). They both nearly propose grabbing Un'hee and their bags and Faro(Yes, Faro ends up deserting the Empire for the Ascendency. With Thrawn gone and a rebel fight, it doesn't feel right) and leaving it all behind multiple times. But this is a fight worth fighting. Even when he feels helpless as she sobs in his arms because she's sick of them talking about her life like it's theirs and how all of her friends can date and sleep around and she's bound by children's laws. Faro and Ar'alani gets so much of his anger-seeing them treat her with disrespect, all the non-chiss hatred they show him in the court rooms, having to play docile, not knowing if or when his life will be ended for simply loving his best friend.

They're all kind of shocked when the exception is granted. Vah'nya kisses Eli in front of everyone-and all the stuffy rulers realize they've been secretly sneaking around together all along- and Ar'alani assigns them shared quarters and grants them two weeks leave in them that day. Eli proposes six months later. They live happily ever after... Or as much as realistically possible with Gysks looming, Thrawn missing, and god knows what else.

I love that he is so smart but he lacks self confidence in what he's doing (so relatable!). He's very kind but I also adore that he really couldn't stand Thrawn in the beginning and learned to like him 😂❤
