I had already answered this one and was planning to just copy it over but I deleted it on accident! so here we are

1. Why did you choose your url?

I wanted something that referenced the natural world or anatomy or evolution in some way and I landed on the one that I thought had the prettiest latin name. I was almost bisynapsids which would have been cool too. I played around with edgy names of bones and stuff before settling on the name for one of my favorite wild animals

2. Any sideblogs? If you have them name them and why you have them

ok I never understood how “sideblogs” worked so I just made an entirely new tumblr when I wanted to focus myself on ba/ccano. I had a really fun time for a few years and the community was wonderful but I ran out of juice last year and haven’t been back. if anyone’s interested it’s @eyes-like-a-gentle-knight (wordy, I know). there was so much good novel content I loved it. still waiting on those last two books narita!

3. How long have you’ve been on tumblr?

hmm almost nine years? but this blog is a freshy and clean 6 months old

4. Do you have a queue tag?

never saw the point? I don’t use a queue and when I do I like to be mysterious

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

obsession with near from death note and also I was into other anime like ouran and [redacted] and [redacted] but death note had me in it’s grip age 15 so when I found this site which had lots of pictures of near from death note I was like :o

I had no idea what I was doing! I just reposted a bunch of screenshots with captions like ouran posts 2/3 or something. no I had to learn the Culture of this site purely by osmosis

6. Why did you choose your icon?

princess mononoke is one of my favorite movies and the image of san in that scene was always so powerful to me. I didn’t mean for a dog theme I swear I’m not even a dog person

7. Why did you choose your header?

I wrote a big post about this when I chose it because I like to talk about every one of my decisions but basically:

it’s got nature in it

looks green for summer

cql but appealing to someone who hasn’t seen it

not an critical moment so I won’t get sick of seeing it

lwj is there which I like but he is barely visible so he’s like secret lwj. but I like that he’s there

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

in my foolish youth I reposted a pic from facebook about tesla that got 100,000+ notes (I think) and got my my first ever rude anon!!!! they just told me not to repost without a source and called me an asshole which as a sensitive 15 year old was very difficult to handle/s. but on here it’s my cql rewatch lb about the atmosphere of ep1. I had a good number of notes on my previous blog for some cql txps but I don’t like to see the notes so I’m glad I’m cut away from them.

however the mdzs/cql fandom has been the only other place I’ve gotten rude anons so. with fame comes tragedy ig/s. they called me a dummy :(

9. How many mutuals do you have?

like? 20? I don’t keep track.

uhhh 78. nice and neat. last blog was like 1780 or something but a lot of them were inactive

11. How many people do you follow?

umm 44? it’s really hard for me to follow people I legitimately feel sick when I do it more than one a week or something. the dash NEEDS to look a certain way and I NEED to get to where I was last time and so I am very very picky about who I follow. also when I break mutuals I feel horrible and guilty so I try not to have too many

12. Have you ever made a shitpost?

idk what this means! unlikely!

13. How often do you use tumblr each day

yeah I also work and I can’t have my phone in the lab so for 17 hrs a day I’m asleep or away which is very good but most of the rest of the time I’m on here...which is fine tbh I like it and I know I have nothing better to do rn. school will start again and I won’t be able to be on here as much :(

14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won?

I feel like usually nobody “wins” these fights. I am bad at articulating my point and I hate confrontation so I usually just block but when I get an anon trying to argue with me I’ll sometimes respond and I feel like I win those? but like, it’s anon. I’m just responding. like someone sending me flack for tagging my hate for bad ship and I gave this long-winded and lbr kind of annoyingly self-righteous response that at the time I felt very pleased with. but it didn’t work bc I kept getting anons trying to convince me or discuss with me why they shipped it and im like idk!!! go away!!!

okay early in the year I got an ask like “how do you feel about wwx being lame in cql” and I got kind of defensive bc I thought they were one of those diehard novel fan but they came back and were like “oh sorry I’m into the donghua and you have a point and this isn’t productive to discuss” so I kind of feel like I won? I mean, it wasn’t really an argument

15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

If it’s something important then yeah obviously but if it's like “or something bad will happen!!!” no ofc not those are annoying as hell and probably awful if you’re paranoid

I don’t see having a crush on anyone I’ve never really spoken to irl but I do know I have a very many pretty and/or handsome mutuals :)

THE BILLY STORY

(Warnings for mentions of animal death and sexual assault.)

This is my favorite of all the tall tales ghost-oakes/Tucker told me. It “unfolded” in real time over about a month. It had everything for a good story-- a mystery, a clear villain, tension, pointless violence and subterfuge, and an unforgettable climax. Tucker looked very badass throughout. I remember being amazed that unlike my real-life conflicts, Tucker’s conflicts got wrapped up neatly all the time!

Unfortunately parts of it are lost forever because they were told via text, but I’ll do my best to fill in what I remember.

It started one night when someone “knocked on his door”.

Tucker “smelled” a man. He used his quick-thinking no-nonsenseness to force the guy to leave. The guy who went so far as to unscrew a bulb and knock with, presumably, a speech and a plan to hurt him.

It’s the bar fight all over again. Tucker gets flustered for hours by seeing furries he doesn’t like on his Tumblr dashboard, but he was totally cool about having to slam an attacker’s fingers in the door. "But I didn’t call the cops” is a very common theme in his stories. Also. Just. “MY MACHETE”.

Another night:

Okay, so on a third night, it looks like I must have gotten texted something like “I got attacked”. Tucker worked as a janitor at the school his parents teach at. He’d explained that each janitor worked a different building.

“I feel like he knows something.” Between his identity, his endless medical issues, and his dark, edgy past, Tucker always seemed preoccupied with himself and being special, dedicating sad songs to himself and claiming people and animals were scared of him for reasons they didn’t understand. He looked like a completely average and healthy person, someone you would pass on the street and forget instantly-- hence my “I doubt it’s that personal.”

"Otis” is a reference to a character in The Devil’s Rejects, a movie we had recently watched on my recommendation. So take that as you will.

“Welcome to my weird and violent life.” As reliably as the weather, for some reason. When you’re Tucker, even a college town in Oklahoma is like Escape From New York.

The next big event was, unfortunately, TEXTED: I was hanging out with friends at some kind of Rainforest Cafe-knockoff when I got a text from Tucker saying this guy had approached him again, this time just to cuss him out. The quote that stuck out to me was calling Tucker a “shape-shifting snake”. And saying he was “onto [him]”. This guy is officially obsessed with Tucker. The language implied that it has something to do with Tucker’s androgyny.

So there we had it: confirmation that Tucker is indeed special.

I read some of this event aloud to my friends and... well, they weren’t as impressed as I was. Side-eyed it, even. I figured they just didn’t understand what an amazing life Tucker had.

Nothing else really happened for awhile, but I LOVED THIS STORY. I would bring it up all the time. Most of the results for “porch light” and “billy” in these logs are me making callback jokes to it on totally unrelated subjects. The reader was slavering for new installments. It was joked that Billy was stealing the lights.

Frequent references to his genitals; preoccupied with being sexually interesting, even to possible violent transphobes. His gender situation was very comfortable and I was encouraged that nothing I said could be offensive. We’d try to gross each other out a lot.

Okay, so the next big event was also VIA TEXT and I’m so mad I don’t have it because it was really fucking ridiculous. Basically, Tucker said he cleaned his building fast, broke into Billy’s car just before the end of the shifts and waited in the passenger seat. Billy got in, not realizing Tucker was there, and Tucker said something awesome to ruffle the homophobe’s feathers, like “hey, sweetheart”. He was explicit about taking care to not let his voice crack. Satisfied that Billy’s eyes got wide with glistening fear and a dark spot appeared on his pants or something (paraphrasing), Tucker laughed-- I believe he said “chuckled”-- and got out. LIKE A BADASS.

Then at some point, I forget the details, Billy gave him back his porch lights. How Billy learned where Tucker lived and how Tucker is so good at lock-picking cars (another example below) we’ll never know.

So nothing really big ever happened after that-- Tucker would say “I think Billy’s giving me the stink eye” but they mostly kept to their own buildings.

So-- WARNING FOR ANIMAL DEATH-- this happens. Which isn’t strictly related, but is also clearly fake, and also helps illustrate how his ideas develop and how he can change your expectations of reality. Because something very similar happened later.

Tucker walked home on his half-hour(?) breaks to eat and get on Skype. One night, he texted me something concerning.

He killed a pit bull with his bare hands in the middle of the night. No wounds. Is that right, pal.

So, looks like the BIG FINALE also took place over text. While we were both at work, Tucker made a big deal about deciding to take his break and walk home early, citing the dog and Billy as concerns.

Later that same night, Tucker texted me to say that there were sirens and police at his, and when he went to check it out, he heard that Billy had been arrested. He had tried to rape a woman who Tucker had been told something like “looked a lot like you, actually”. And it happened on the same time that Tucker would have taken his break!!! SPOOKY.

And the end of Billy’s tenure at the college, obviously. Cue the black card that says “the end”.

I remember trying to look this up with what little info I had-- arrests at [REDACTED COLLEGE], rapes in [REDACTED TOWN] Oklahoma, nothing. I checked the site to see if a Billy or Bill or William worked there, and while I could find Tucker listed there by his deadname, I couldn’t find a Billy listed as a custodian. Hm, well. Maybe they cut ties with him fast upon realizing he was a disgusting criminal.

Anyway, the best proof I can offer that that bit happened are these discussions of Billy being in jail.

In this next example: I had taken a break from talking to him for one exactly week, for my mental health (as in, I had stopped drawing because he was taking up all my time and thoughts and energy). During the time when he wasn’t talking to anyone 24/7, he claimed he went to the hospital.

Because the bullshit train is always chugging along. CHOO CHOO.

How Pretty Can U Get

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday! @dommestic had a lot to do to help take care of many persons, while I just did the working thing because I’m not nearly as good of a person as she is/nobody asked me yet.

After dinner and before TV, she put me in the Nova Pro 100 and it was a good setting. It had ongoing beats that would change every few minutes, going from kind of awake to kind of under to, at one point, feeling like I was being dragged eyeballs-first into an infinite blanket of blackness and no body. It was brief, she was talking to me through the whole thing and one thing we have not done (that I remember) are a lot of visualizations. The feeling I had at one point was very similar to what I assume people must feel like who picture themselves on a thing that is floating or a hammock or whatever it is people prefer, while she was telling me to relax and listen and (redacted mantra) before informing me I would be doing more speaking in a future session. Right now I am not asked to talk much. I have a rough memory of making a noise not quite unlike a squeak or a meep in response to something she said.

Aftercare changed to a popular late-night comedy show we enjoy that airs once a week. (I saw someone wearing a t-shirt from said show at a thrift store this week and was mightily delighted to see one out and about.) I’m assuming we should probably change location to somewhere where I’m not usually either sleeping or experiencing some sort of trance state when we’re done.

We floated the idea of trying hypnosis things and reviewing them as a future project - which would require some research and work on both accounts. We briefly discussed @deeperforme‘s suggestion of being given a trigger, forgetting it, and responding hours later. On the bright side we picked up the Lee Allure/DJ Pynchon joint Hypnotic Amnesia. But did we read it yet? We did not. And by we I mean her, i’m not sure if I’m supposed to read it yet.

Hypnosis in general has been a lot of fun because it’s unintentionally flung us on to a world of new and interesting people we’re slowly getting to know while giving us new things to try and a mutually satisfying activity that doesn’t involve mealtime. Also I think tonight might be Popeye’s.

Bonus things below the great divide. You will not necessarily want to read them.

- When Tumblr puts up notices of what someone did (liking a post, reblogging a video) they do not mean MY posts. They mean A post. Yes it did take me this long to realize this.

- My reading comprehension skills need recalibration. I sometimes start reading things 1-2 paragraphs down because most intros on things I read on other subjects than hypnosis are off-topic fluff. This is not the case with the hypnosis crew. It turns out important information is kept there.

- This super hot post sounds like something Dommestic may have done to me before we started doing hypnosis stuff. I will not confirm. But it’s an amazing post. Be sure to train your pets, people.

- Despite having been online since dial-up the Internet remains an endless source of wonderful people (and jerks, although I have not encountered them as of late) and I hope I’m not keeping some of them up too late at night. Thank you for keeping me company.

- I’m almost at 100 followers. I’m tempted to put out an ask request at that point but I’m not expecting much response until I get that second or third thousand.

- There’s another thing that I’d like to post here that seems like a weird thing to say plainly but since I can’t think of a good way to roll it out I’ll leave it off. Three of you know what this is.

- It has come to my attention that Root Beer Pop Tarts are a thing. I’ve had Pop Tarts maybe twice in my life. Shall we go for three, with a side of regret?
