honestly all puzzles and oblique references aside i think the biggest takeaway from unwanted guest is that it doubles down on the thesis that love changes you. you can’t take loved away. it literally changes the composition of your soul

Reading the unwanted guest is the first time I actually thought that Babs was gone-gone and not coming back. Ever since htn I've had this theory that we would see Babs again (Pyrrha style) - talking to Ianthe and she suddenly says the most OOC Babs thing ever. Or Ianthe does something dull and Babs flavored and has no memory of it. Like most dead people in the locked tomb, I didn't think his story was over.

But maybe Babs's soul is too deep and disgested in Ianthe Naberius after all.

BUT who knows with this series, after all Pyrrha is still here.
