tear gas is still banned to all but SWAT, so this time it was smoke bombs and pepper spray—although some on the ground claim it was tear gas. i suppose if you can’t tell the difference between chemical weapons, it doesn’t really matter which kind was hitting you

police using flash bangs and pepper gas to disperse the crowd after protesters pushed the barricades up ten feet on pine. protesters dispersed and pushed to 11th, ordered to disperse to broadway. people are saying cops are claiming rocks/bottles/improvised explosives?? (bullshit that’s a fucking candle) were thrown at them, but nobody on the ground saw that and neither do i in this video, this video, or this whole thread of videos

police violence met with defiant chants of “EVERY DAY” as protesters scattered but did not disperse. protesters also chanted “move bitch, get out the way! get out the way, bitch, get out the way!” and gained back most of their ground by pushing the police line up the hill. that’s not bullshit, it’s just a really badass response to some bullshit

cops are reportedly trying to convince protesters to march to i-5, i assume to kettle them in westlake again. according to reports from the ground this is allegedly being encouraged by an “organizer” seen speaking with police behind their lines, but i don’t want to link anything name any names without some kind of hard evidence in case this is all a misunderstanding. just use careful judgment out there and definitely don’t go to anti-police brutality protests that the police who just brutalized you promote

police asking the crowd to stop people using laser pointers. police also started shining lasers on protesters. also, no reports of protesters seeing lasers in the crowd until after cops shined laser pointers first

a peaceful demonstration was held in magnuson park in memory of charleena lyles, ending with a march to the uvillage. during a vigil at the uvillage, protesters were surrounded by national guard and told to disperse. thread detailing events of the protest here

spd have arrested a man who claims to have recorded the video of police macing a 9-year-old girl last week. he is being detained on suspicion of pointing laser pointers at them from the crowd. this is the second time in a couple days that spd have shown up in large numbers to seek out and arrest specific protesters.
