Varii is the reincarnation of revali, he was born some time after the events of TOTK. He was an orphan, but was taken in by Harth. Becoming one of Tulin’s students while growing up in rito village, looking up to Tulin. Varii discovered he had a ability, that ability to be able to make the to air cut/ break objects. With Tulins teachings he became a great archer, surpassing Tulin the more he practiced. Varii also devices to learn how to play the cello, since he felt he could easily learn that as fast as archery. Varii always was very skilled with his words, often coming of very confident and a bit rude at times. Later in his life he ran into link, slowly becoming friends with him.

Truthfully my fics never go into it far enough of how much Holly Blue fuckin HATES Big Mama. She would be content to watch this woman die and have her insides devoured. You may ask the question of why Holly didn't just attempt to murder her when she fled from the Nexus but the answer is that Holly Blue doesn't just want to end her life. She wants to utterly destroy it. She wants to remove ever pillar and rock that Big Mama has to stand on. Dismantle her power and her resources, leave her as low as she can possibly get, then watch her try and vain to struggle back to the top.

And because of Holly Blue's efforts to do all of this, Big Mama hates her just as much. Hates her for managing an escape, for stabbing her, for convincing so much of the staff to leave over and over again, for making deals with Nexus fighters so they no longer have to fight out of desperation, befriending powerful groups of yokai by doing business with them and turning their loyalty away from Big Mama. But Big Mama doesn't just kill her either, because she'd get so much more satisfaction out of breaking her down to nothing so the wasp is once again pliant to anything Big Mama wants.

Toxic exes to the max, makes me insane, but Holly Blue tries to stay so subtle about it so it doesn't come up nearly as much as it should.

5. Is there any scene you're excited about writing in auctores varii?

I’m really looking forward to writing scenes between Aemon and Jocelyn. I’ve grown to love writing both characters during Ex libris and I find writing couples negotiating differing opinions/conflict really interesting. I imagine their very different reactions to Corlys as a suitor for Rhaenys is the biggest obstacle they have had to overcome in their marriage, particularly as Jocelyn has acted both irrationally and alone in trying to scare Corlys off. I think I’d like to write a scene of them arguing in their chambers, in the wake of Alysanne’s announcement of Rhaenys and Corlys’ courtship. I see Aemon as a very gentle character by nature, so the prospect of writing him angry is compelling!

10. If unpublished, can you show a sneak peek of what you've written?

I don’t have anything other than ideas for auctores varii (I want to finish Ex libris first!), but here is something from Primogeniture:

Corlys turns towards her, such an expression of wonder and disbelieving joy upon his face. His eyes sparkle and there is dampness upon his cheeks, little rivers that catch the light upon his skin. He whispers, too faint for her ears, to the son cradled in his hands, and his smile is so broad it calls forth fresh tears to her eyes. He is so beautiful, she thinks, as she realises with a pang that - for the first time - it is he who holds their son safe and not her.

For his part, the babe screams, announcing his birth to the entire castle.

“He has Baratheon lungs,” her husband laughs.

16. Is there any written scene in Primogeniture that you think about a lot?

Probably the one I’ve quoted above! In Ex libris, both Corlys and Rhaenys romanticise the idea of pregnancy and childbirth, often imagining their future children, and I think this scene is the first time that Corlys understands that actually pregnancy and childbirth is not some romantic thing: it is violent and bloody and ugly and it could very well kill Rhaenys.

20. Give a vague description of something that will happen without revealing too much

Seeing as you all know the plot of Ex libris (and therefore auctores varii), I’ll give you a scene from Primogeniture: Jaehaerys gets his ass handed to him by a pregnant woman.

Actual plant agriculture that involves tilling fields and farms is only done by settled herds. Settled herds may tend to have more wealth and more complicated technology than nomadic herds but they tend to have less leisure time and worse health than nomadic herds.

Is there anything in the fic you're unsure about including, in auctores varii?

I think I’m mostly unsure about which characters’ perspectives I want to include and which scenes are worthy of elaborating. I don’t want this fic to be Ex libris retold chapter for chapter, as I think that would become very boring very quickly; I want these scenes to enrich the reading of Ex libris, not belabour the point.

Thus far, I’m drawn to the following ideas:

Alysanne’s perspective of the dinner and walk in the gardens with Rhaenys in Chapter Two, perhaps followed by a new scene between her and Jaehaerys

Jocelyn’s perspective on her confrontation with Rhaenys in Chapter 5 and Corlys in Chapter 6

Boremund’s perspective on Rhaenys introducing him to Corlys in Chapter 7 and his sparring match with Corlys in Chapter 8

Aemon’s perspective in Chapter 15, finding out that Corlys and Rhaenys have been meeting in secret and that Jocelyn had known and intervened behind his back, followed by a new scene of a confrontation between Jocelyn and Aemon in their chambers

Hopefully I will have some more ideas once I’ve written the rest of Ex libris! And, of course, others might have ideas too, which I’m more than happy to consider!
