It was supposed to be the happiest day for her, she just won gold at the olympics again, breaking history and accomplishments dreams she never thought were possible to accomplish. It was supposed to be a day she was going to celebrate all night but instead it was a day that she knew was coming.

Fredrick and Vera were two peas in pod since the moment they met, the two connecting in a way that was just ethereal.

They quickly become one of the best pairs in history. Most days were spent together training, laughing, smiling, spinning around the ice together.

They grew up together as their friendship grew with them. Fredrick and Vera had a beautiful connection anyone could see it by the way Fredrick treated Vera with love and affection, the way he always was softly touching her, always gently picking her off the podium, Fredrick never once dropping her ever, The wha Vera would light up around him, the way she always relaxed fully again him, how Vera talked about him whenever someone asked about.

Fredrick and Vera just had a connection that was priceless and special and it slowly turned into something more even. In January of 2020 they admitted what they felt for each other and it just grew from their, it was so natural and passionate between the two anyone would think they would be together forever.

Except they weren’t.

Vera never knew when it changed but it did. One day, slowly but surely the sweet boy who use to bring her flowers and make her laugh turned into someone she couldn’t ever recognize a flash of. The boy she fell in love with was gone.

Vera noticed the way he slowly moved into the guest room and on the road suddenly ever room had two bed. The once loving and affectionate touches became nonexistent, the only time she felt his touch was when they were on the ice. And the once sweet comments and lovingly words she received turned into cold condescending words or pure ice cold silence and ignoring anything they came out of her mouth.

Vera noticed it at the end of the summer of 2021 they had been together for a year and half and everything was great until it wasn’t anymore.

Eventually the more she was treated this way she noticed she was falling out of love with him, and at the end of the day she could handle losing his love and losing being in love with him but she missed her best friend.

Vera planned to split up their partnership after the Olympics were over because she was done trying fighting to save something that he doesn’t even want to save.

She knew she made the right decision when they went to sign their contract for the next year of being pairs when she read the requirements. He wanted her to pay for everything. Everything for skating or to do with skating was to be payed by her. The money they receive from winning would not be spilt but would go all to him and Fredrick had the finally say on everything.

Vera slowly looked up from the contract looking right into Fredricks eyes as she picked the contract up ripping it down the middle, “No.”

“What why not?” Fredrick angrily snapped, the lawyer looked between his two clients nervously, having seen the requirements but was told by Fredrick they both wanted them.

“No i won’t sign this. I won’t sign another contract to continue being your pair.” Vera slowly stood up still maintaining eye contact, “You forgot something Fredrick, i never needed you. But you have always needed me.” Vera turned around walking towards the door, hiding the heartbreak from showing on her face.

“You’ll regret this.” Fredrick yelled towards her back slamming his hands on the table. Not ever been known to control his temper.

Vera held the door knob in her hands before turning around, “No i wont.” She turned around ready to leave before she turned her head once more to see the fumes coming from Fredrick, “Oh and if you couldn’t tell, we’re over.” Vera shut the door behind her walking out the hotel confrence room heading straight to the elevator, she clicked her phone on calling to have her plane ready in a hour to go back to California.

Vera walked down the hall to her hotel quickly opening the door slamming it behind her, sliding down against the door hitting the floor burying her face into her hands.

Apollo and Aries jumped off the bed where they were sleeping and ran right to their mother, Aries nudged his nose into her hands and Apollo leaned his body on Vera’s side.

“Thank you my loves.” Vera whispered to her two babies cuddling with them needing the comfort more than ever. She took a few minutes to just hold her dogs before she gently let go of them getting up and starting to pack up their stuff, she packed all of her stuff back into her large suitcase and all of her dogs stuff into their suitcase she clicked on the leashes for her dogs before exiting the hotel room with the two suitcase, her backpack on her back, her purse on her shoulder and both of her dogs on the leashes.

Vera walked out of the hotel into the car that was waiting for her, thanking the driver who took took her bags before hopping into the back with her two dogs.

The drive was quick to the the airport and she quickly climbed up the steps into her plane, nodding at her employees before heading to her bedroom she has in the back of the plane she closed the door and un clicked Apollo and Aries leashes and sat on the bed pulling her knee to her chest resting her forehead on her knees feeling both of her boys sit on either side of her. Aries layed his head on her arm looking at his mom with sad eyes giving her a small whine, Apollo leaned his whole body weight into Vera’s and licking his mom’s arms.

Vera remembered meeting Frederick when they were young, only just kids and when they went onto the ice together for the first time they just clicked and they knew they had to be partners, their connection was so natural and so easy for them. It was a connection many other skater’s envied wanting to be that connected to their partner.

Vera and Fredrick had met Alexandra who quickly became their other best friend, the three quickly became a trio. Becoming each other’s safe space, where they didn’t feel as the whole world was watching. Alexandra and Vera becoming platonic soulmates the two pushing each other to only become better on the ice. Alexandra and Fredrick finding a sibling in each other and having a very teasing relationship.

Traveling the world and spending most your time on the ice you tend to grow close with the people you skate with and Alexandra and Vera don’t know what was wrong with Fredrick but Alexandra slowly stopped respecting her once best friend that was a big brother to her when she saw how he was treating her best friend.

Alexandra could see how hard Vera just wanted their best friend back and she only hoped that Vera will get her happy ending one day.

Vera woke up hours later running a hand through her hair seemingly to fall asleep with her dogs cuddled with her and checked the time realizing the flight was over half way done and decided it was time to get away from California and fast and she knew exactly where she wanted to go.

New Jersey.

New Jersey a place she’s always loved staying in and the biggest factor as it has one of her most favorite people in the world living their her big brother Nico, and the Devils who have all become like family to her and one of her closet friends Jack.

She pulled up the apartment complex she knew Nico and Jack lived and quickly found an apartment that would be perfect for her and her dogs and quickly applied for the apartment and was surprised when her request was immediately approved and the contracts quickly emailed over for her to sign and put into the money and she would already have the apartment. Vera quickly finished everything letting out a small smile seeing how quickly everything fell into place.

She pulled out the book she was currently reading to past by the rest of the time and before she knew the plane was landing and she was waking up her dogs putting their leashes back on and grabbing her backpack and purse.

She walked down the stairs to the plane heading into the car that was waiting for her and got into the car, the drive to her house was quick and she quickly thanked the driver before unclipping the leashes of the dogs and walking into her house in California, one of her more favorite places and had made some of her closest friends here and the first place she bought a place not rented.

She breathed out a sigh of being home and for once she thanked Fredrick for having moved out a while ago so she didn’t have to worry about him coming over to get anything that is his.

She took out her phone as she walked up her stairs towards her room and texted her group chat with Trevor and Jamie telling them she is home and she knows they don’t have a game today or tomorrow before throwing her phone on her bed and heading into her bathroom and taking a long shower.

Vera walked out of the bathroom with her hair freshly washed and brushed before grabbing a pair of grey sweatpants and a purple loose long sleeve, she slipped on a pair of fluffy socks and walked down stairs and across the long hall to the living room and throwing the throw blanket across her lap as Aries and Apollo layed on both sides of her.

Vera heard the door open and knew exactly who it was especially when her dogs tails started excitedly wagging.

“Honey we’re home!” Trevor’s voice echoed through out the house.

“In here babes!” Vera called back not getting up.

Trevor and Jamie walking into the living room making Aries and Apollo jump up and run over to the two. Trevor set down the bag he brought and kneeled down petting them like crazy as Jamie softly petted the top of both their heads before looking at one of his best friends nothing the dimmed look in her eyes that has been more common recently and the way her lips were naturally more downturned.

Trevor bounced up from the dogs jumping onto Vera, “Congratulations VeeVee!” Trevor hugged his best friend tightly.

Vera tried not to think of everything that happened but she couldn’t help and starting sniffing in the hug from the comfort from her best friend, she burrowed her her head into her chest feeling the tears running down her face and her shoulder began to shake.

Jamie and Trevor looked at each other with concern, Trevor hugged her tightly as Jamie sat on the other side of them brushing a soft hand through her wet hair.

The two let Vera cry all her tears out onto Trevor’s hoodie before she slowly calmed down.

Vera lifted her head looking between her two best friends, Trevor wiped off her tears as Jamie looked her in concern, “What happened Vee?”

“He wanted to sign a contract to continue our pair and it was fucked, he wanted me to pay for everything including all of his expenses, all the earnings were to go to him and he had final say in everything, so i ripped up the contract and broke up with him.” Vera fiddled with Jamie’s hands as she told them what went down a day ago.

Trevor clenched his jaw hearing about Fredrick, Trevor having known Vera before she dated Fredrick and with Vera living mostly in California he was one of the few who truly saw how much their relationship got extremely toxic and how much Vera has been heartbroken over the last year.

Jamie frowned looking at one of his best friends, “Is that why you came home early?” He knew she was supposed to be there a few more days celebrating her gold medals.

“I had to leave.” Vera mumbled resting her head on Jamie’s shoulder while Trevor laided on top of her.

“Well i for one am glad you broke up with that asshole!” Trevor grinned looking at Vera making her let out a soft laugh.

“Of course you are ZeeZee.” Vera fondly smiled knowing how much Trevor hated seeing her in that relationship getting hurt.

“How are you feeling.” Jamie looked towards her in concern.

Vera took a deep breath, “Honestly kinda free, obviously it still hurts to think about losing him as my best friend but i’m relieved to have finally cut that part of me.” Vera for the last year as she noticed Fredrick slowly changing she had hoped everything would get fixed and she could have her best friend back but she knew she really needed to end things with him.

“Good.” Jamie kissed the top of her head.

“I got an apartment in New Jersey.” Vera blurted out into the comfortable silence.

Trevor’s head popped up from where he was laying on Vera, “What! Why?”

“I thought maybe a fresh city to live in could do some good, besides my new location will be opening there soon and Nico apartment complex had an open space and Jack will be there too.” Vera explained her thoughts to the boys.

“I think it will be good for you.” Jamie reassured her thinking a new city could be good for her.

“As long as you don’t forget about us!” Trevor pouted, “And we have a lot of games in New York and New Jersey so we will be able to see you a lot.”

“And i’m keeping my house here in California and i still have to come out here a lot anyways so it won’t be that bad.” Vera reassured the pouting Trevor.

“Alright but as long as i’m still you favorite hockey player best friend, Jack cannot past me.” Trevor looked at Vera extremely seriously making Vera and Jamie throw their heads back laughing at their silly best friend.

Vera walked down the hallway towards the Devils room in the Arena where she was was meeting back up with Nico, having joined Nico for the weekend for the 2022 NHL Draft.

She walked through the door in the Devils suite that she knew some of the people drafted were here and some of their families, anyone from the devils team that was here and she knew Nico was inside.

Suddenly a body fell right into making her stumble back quickly catching her self from falling to the floor, she couldn’t tell who it was but that they were quite tall, “Oh my god! I’m so sorry, that was totally my fault.”

Vera looked up seeing the first pick of the New Jersey Devils this year, Simon Nemec rambling looking incredibly nervous and worried, “Kid, your all good i promise. No worries.”

“Are you sure?” Simon still looked incredibly nervous especially since he knew exactly who she was. Vera Hischer one of the best skaters ever, and an eight time olympic gold medalist.

“I promise.” Vera gave him a soft smile, “Oh! are you in rush?” Vera quickly moved to the side of the door thinking that’s why he fell into her was because he was rushing.

Simon cheeks got red, “No i wasn’t trying to leave i was trying to throw my trash away and i tripped.”

Vera smiled nodding, “Makes sense.”

Nico walked over to his sister, “There you are Schwöschterli!” Nico kissed the top of her head, “Oh Hello Simon i see you’ve met my little sister.”

Simon shyly nodded.

“Hi Neeks.” Vera smiled at her older brother, “Congratulations by the way Simon.”

“Oh! Thank you.” Simon smiled softly feeling like Vera was one of the few people who truly meant that.

“Here.” Vera pulled out her phone pulling up her contacts handing her phone to Simon, “Why don’t you put your phone number in, If you need anything don’t hesitate to text, i’m around Jersey a lot.”

Simon eyes widened looking at her shocked she just smiled and nodded towards her phone, he quickly typed in his phone number and handing it back to her, “Thank you.”

“It’s no problem kiddo.” Vera smiled enjoying meeting him, she quickly sent a text to the number so Simon had her number before putting her phone away, “Now have you eaten yet?”

Simon shook his head feeling his stomach growling having not been able to eat before the draft and the day is almost over.

Vera sent a nod to her brother before walking closer to Simon holding her hand close to his arm looking at him for contest, Simon nodded and Vera gently put her hand onto his arm gently leading him to the long table of food, “The Devil always have the best food at their events especially the Draft.”

Simon looked at the older women curiously, “Have you been to a lot of NHL Drafts?”

Vera hummed grabbing two plates and handing one to Simon, “Yes this is my third one!”

Simon grabbed all the same foods he was watching Vera put on her plate before following her like a puppy to a table Nico was already sitting at talking to someone who was standing next to the table.

Vera patted the chair next to her and Simon quickly sat next to her and took a bite of her taco’s he grabbed, his eyes widen and a delighted sound came from him.

Vera laughed softly smiling handing Simon a napkin knowing the tacos can be very messy, “Good right! I’ve found where they get these from and they have a location right by the Devils arena.”

Simon shyly smiled whipping his face, “Really?”

“Mhm! I’ll have to show you when you come out there.” Vera smiled starting to eat her food, missing the touched look on Simon face before he continued to eat.

The two talking for the rest of the night and Nico who was sitting near them knew Vera just took Simon her under her wing, and wouldn’t be surprised to be seeing Simon around a lot more.

Vera and Jack both had a free day and decided to go on a walk just the two of them to a close by bakery to get breakfast together.

Jack had his arm wrapped around her shoulder as they walked together.

Vera was listening to Jack talk about something from his last practice and could feel herself get cold as they walked through the freezing New Jersey weather.

“My hands are cold.” Vera shivered as she forgot her gloves and could feel how cold hands were getting.

“Is that a pickup line?” Jack cheekily smirked at his girlfriend looking at her.

“Woah how did you know.” Vera sassed her boyfriend back with a sarcastic smile.

“It’s a talent baby!” Jack flirted back winking at her making her shake her head with a fond laugh.

Jack did take his arm off her shoulder and grabbed both her hands holding them between his bigger hands blowing on them, warming them up quickly and then held both her hands in his jacket pocket.

introducing vera

Vera Lily Hischier was born January 13, 2002, the youngest out of her three older siblings.

When she was growing up she played hockey just like her family and she grew to love the sport, but when she 7 she had a bad hit in a game and broke her wrist and elbow, leaving her not to being able to play hockey for months but she still wanted to be on the ice so she started doing figure skating and fell in love with it and decided to continue with the sport.

Vera had made the right decision by choosing figure skating anyone with an eye could tell, so if you thought she’s an amazing at hockey it is nothing compared to her raw natural talent she has for figure skating.

Vera quickly gained a lot of attention as she started doing moves that were deemed difficult for women or unable for women to do, but it never seemed to stop her if anything it motivated her.

By the time she turned 13 in 2014 she was going into her first olympics not only was she the youngest ever to compete in the olympics she got gold in her two events and became the youngest ever gold medalist.

The end of 2014 she had found a partner for paired skating someone she quickly connected to and anyone could see the chemistry they had on the ice. They quickly were becoming oke of the best pairs to skate ever.

Frederic Schmid was a skater from Switzerland and had watched Vera’s performances and hoped to become her partner one day, and he did.

The two became best friends and became an amazing pair of the ice.

Vera once again was in the olympics in 2018 and not only did she get there goal medals she always broke the world record of landing four triple axel.

Vera and Fredric’s friendship slowly turned into a romance and by 2020 the two knew of their feelings for each other and embraced them, the two were the perfect couple and everyone thought they were soulmate’s until 2022.

In 2022 fans, friends and family could all tell there was something different between the couple, not only was the once affection and loving touches between the two now nonexistent but Fredrick barely seem to acknowledge Vera if not on the ice.

The two competed one more time together at the Olympics bringing home a gold before Vera decided it was time to end the relationship and she was going forward to find a different pair partner especially when she read the contract for the next few years and Fredrick not only wanted her to play for everything for him but all the winning money would go to him, she quickly shut down the offer and left.

She decided to leave the home she shared with Fredrick in California and move to New Jersey to be closer to her brother.

Vera after her first olympics started a business for ice skating fashion, clothes to train in off and on the ice, costume’s to perform in, everything and anything to do with figure skating and the company quickly grew fast and soon she was adding a hockey line where she had NHL teams asking her to sponser their apparel, olympic teams also asking her to sponser them as well.

Nico and Vera have always been very close, the two have been best friends since she was born, Vera’s favorite person has always been Nico. Nico was ecstatic when he found out she would be moving near him and having the chance to see his favorite sibling more.

Vera has always looked up to Nina, her being the older sister. Nina always had Vera under her wing teaching her everything and anything. Nina always loving fashion was asked by Vera to be a partner in her business.

Luca has always been the most protective, as the oldest he was protective of all his siblings but especially the two youngest ones.

Vera was competing a division a head but watched the lower division and loved watching a girl who was three years younger then Vera, Alexandra Trusova. They ended up going to the same ice skating camp and they ended up rooming together, the two became fast friends and Vera became an older sister to Alexandra and have stayed great friends since.

Vera is pretty close with most of the players on the Devils because of Nico and she tries to go to as many games and she sees all them.

Jack once in an interview when he was 16 said his celebrity crush was Vera Hischer and Vers never once saw the video but most of the world have found that video and ship Jack and Vera.

Nico has seen the video and surprisingly has always wanted Vera to be with Jack despite being teammates with Jack, Nico always had an off feeling from Fredrick when he started dating Vera and hated he was right in the end.

Jack and Vera met when he was drafted in 2019 and despite Jack having a celebrity crush on her, he didn’t treat Vera and different and Vera didn’t treat him anything other than just Jack.

The two become really great friends and nothing more happen especially since in 2019 Jack had a rough season and didn’t have time to think of anything more, Vera won’t admit but she has always had a little crush on Jack having heard of him in the Hockey world but just pushed it away because he’s her brothers teammate.

Jack figured he lost his chance when he realized she was in love with someone else and happily just stayed her friend just wanting her to be happy, but the more she was in the relationship the more he could see her spark fading.

Jack of course was very happy when he realized she was literally moving into the same apartment building as Nico, also the same apartment building as him.

Vera opened her phone sitting on her couch having just said goodbye to Jamie and Trevor and would see them in a few weeks, she pulled up facetime and hit her brothers contact, he answered it within a few rings and she could see him in his workout clothes.

“Hello Schwöschterli.” Nico smiled at his baby sister, he frowned slightly seeing her red and puffy eyes he knew something was wrong.

“Hi Neeks.” Vera smiled softly at her brother, she ran her hand over both her dogs heads.

“What’s wrong?” Nico questioned sitting down on an empty chair and staring at her in concern.

“I broke up with Fred.” Vera whispered out loud looking away from the camera.

Nico felt his heart drop knowing how much Vera cares for Fredrick and he could tell something was wrong lately between them but Vera was very tight lipped about the issue not wanting to talk about it, “Oh little sister…”

“It’s okay it’s something i should’ve done a long time ago.” Vera shook her head knowing she would have to eventually tell her brother how bad her relationship ended up getting but now wasn’t the time for it, “Actually i have some good news.”

“Yeah?” Nico softly asked, letting her change the subject.

“How do you feel about us joining you in your apartment building.” Vera nonchalantly told him smiling mischievously at her brother.

Nico furrowed his eyebrows before freezing, “Your moving?!?” He quickly spluttered out in shock.

“I thought a new city could do some good and being near you is always a plus.” Vera smiled softly shrugging but also truthfully missing living by family.

“Well i’m very excited to have you live here.” Nico widely grinned, “When are you moving?”

“Tomorrow.” Vera soflty chuckled still suprised she got everything to work out so fast.

“Tomorrow!” Nico looked even more happy as he was going to see his sister tomorrow and she is moving to live in the same building as him. Nico heard his name being called by one of his teammates as he went down a hall in the arena to go talk to sister, “Hey i have to to go but i’ll see you tomorrow?” Nico smiled at his sister.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Neeks.” Vera smiled nodding at him before ending the call.

random facts

Vera Is 5”8 and has always been extremely tall and was lucky when her skating partner was always taller than her.

Vera literally hates anything to do with heels and would rather walk barefoot that wear heels, mostly gets away with platform converse.

Vera has always been obsessed with converse and quite literally has hundreds of pairs and so many custom pairs, everyone who is her friends or family her has got her pair of converse as a present.

Nico got her two doberman puppy’s in 2019 who she names Ares and Apollo and she’s trained them in swiss-german and they are very protective around her.

Ares and Apollo use to enjoy Fredrick company but the longer they knew him the more they barely tolerated his company especially around their mother.

Ares and Apollo absolutely adore Jack. They get very excited when Jack comes over and Jack loves the two just as much always bringing toys and treats for them and he loves to join Vera when she takes them on walks or hikes.

Nico and Vera tend to talk in their native language around each other and Jack has picked up quite a lot over the last few years, and Nico got him a book to teach Jack the language and Jack speaks it very well.

Vera is an amazing cook and Nico and Jack are always excited when she cooks for them.

Vera and Alexandra both so busy in their careers don’t always get to see each other a lot and usally are in different time zones so they make sure to facetime each other at least once a week.

Vera made Nina the leader of designs for her company and Vera could tell how much Nina enjoys that position being able to design clothes for a living, Nina is Vera’s favorite person to make her costumes for competition.

When Luke moves in with Jack it’s a little while after Vera moved in as well and they become great friends having only met a few times and Luke and Vera definitely blend personalities very well and Luke enjoys having found a sister figure in Vera. Jack adores the relationship between his little brother and Vera.

Quinn and Vera have met a few more times and have quickly become good friends as well, they do tend to text quite often and Quinn enjoys her company.

Vera met Trevor when she moved to California the same year he got drafted and he went to one of her competitions and they became really good friends, Trevor’s nature sunshine personality brings the more sunshine personality out of Vera, and they met Jamie together and they became really really good friends.

When Vera found out Jack enjoyed reading she was so happy that someone she knows love reading too, Vera started giving Jack books she has read and annotated for him to read and Jack started annotating his books as well and giving them to her to read and then when they were done with the others book reading and annotated they gave them back to each other.

Vera favorite color has always been green, loving any shade of it and if she had it her way, ever costume she performed in would be something green.

Ellen simply adores Vera secretly hoping Jack and Vera will get together on day wanting Vera to be in the family permanently, Ellen loves having another girl around more and finally having something close to a daughter.

Vera has always loved driving and when she’s with Jack she is always the one driving, one because Jack knows she loves to drive and two he doesn’t really enjoy driving, he likes being the one in passenger seat.

Fredrick and Vera were best friends and skating partners for eight years and while she doesn’t miss what their relationship ended up being like there are days where she misses her best friend, but the best friend she misses has disappeared and turned into someone she doesn’t even recognize.

Nico picked number 13 as his number because it’s the day his favorite sibling was born and he wanted to always have her with him especially since she use to skate with the number 4 for his birthday as well, and when she stopped skating and she started her own business she named it fyra which is four in sweden in honor of her brother.

Vera doesn’t truly seem like a big physical touch person but the second she trusts you she is the biggest cuddle bug ever, especially when she is tired she is extremely cuddly.

Vera is very athletic and tries to play as many sports for fun as she can, it’s one of the reason she enjoys the Hughes lake house so much because all the Hughes love to play so many different sports.
