me when i wait for the drop
[O/C/M/N] :
Secure all your items, strap in, and hold on for the ride!
And keep your hands inside
Oh, it’s about to begin, I’m bursting within
Climbing, rising higher, feel my face against the wind
Looking down and in awe at the ants caught in their everyday strive
[N] :
My god,
This ride this like my life!
Take me up and away,
Above this small town cliche
[O/C/M/N] :
To leave this place behind, oh, I’m just waiting for the day!
When at the top of the peak, there’s a moment where you’re kind of the world!
And suddenly you’re hurled
Over, up, and then down
Towards the carnival ground
Scream, enjoy the crazy twisted symphony of sound
Oh, how I love to hear
Every kind of music!
[M/N] :
Blasting in my ears
[O/C] :
Guns n Roses,
Chopped Diva,
The Beatles,
And Calliope! (?)
[O/C/M/N] :
It smells like cotton candy!
[M/N] :
Corn dogs and rancid beers
[O/C] :
Colored lights and people screaming
What is real, and what is dreaming
[O/C/M/N] :
Take me higher!
No, no
[M/N] :
I never wanna stop!
[O/C] :
Stomach turning, falling money
Kinda freaky, kinda funny
[O/C/M/N] :
Ticka ticka
Ticka ticka
Ticka ticka
Ticka ticka
Wooooaah!
Just-a waiting for the drop
[O/C/M/N/R/J] :
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Aaaaaaaaaah!
[J] :
Aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Aaaaahh!!
[O] :
Oh, whippin’ and spinnin’
And something doesn’t feel quiet right!
[M] :
A blur of colored light
[O/C] :
Dizzy, whirling around
Oh, where is the ground?
[N] :
My heart is in my throat I feel my chest begin to pound
[O/C/M/N] :
Oh!
Bright lights ahead, and we’re spinning
And then suddenly black!
[C] :
What happened to this track?
[N] :
Did they set it up right?
[M] :
That’s why my knuckles are white!
[O/C/M/N/R] :
We’re flying, floating forward
That’s a blinding yellow light!
[K] :
At 6:19, this same roller coasters front axel would break
Causing it to derail at the apex of the loop-de-loop
Hurdling the children to their deaths
Tonight, I wish to give them the chance to express not what they were perceived to be, but what they dreamt they were
[O/C/M/N/R] :
And then you’re sailing through space
You don’t know up from down
And you feel a little strange
From all that’s spinning round
And everything you loved
And everything you dreamed
And everything you feared
And everything that seemed so oh so terrifying
It’s far behind on the ground
Like our far from the city little itty bitty pretty hometown
Just a teeny tiny dot
On a wee blue ball
And we’ve all been spinning
[M/N/R] :
All been spinning..
[O/C/M/N/R] :
Round and round and round
And round and round
Round and round
And round and round and round
And round and round
Round and round
And-
[M/N/R] :
Every kind of music
Blasting in my ears
[O/C] :
All those colored lights!
Oh, oh, oooh
[M/N/R] :
Cotton candy, and rancid beers
[O/C] :
Gotta wear shades ‘cause the future’s so bright
And oooh
[M/N/R] :
Take me higher!
No,  I never wanna stop
[O/C] :
Nothin’s gonna bring me down!
Dooown
[M/N/R] :
Take me up, right up to the top!
[O/C] :
Ah!
Never put my feet on the ground
Yeah-oooh
[M/N/R] :
And every kind of music blasts in my ears
[O/C] :
Life was about to start..
Oh, oh, ooooh
[M/N/R] :
Cotton candy, and rancid beers
[O/C] :
We never should’ve got into the rickety cart…
Oh nooo
[M/N/R] :
Take me higher-
[O/C/M/N/R] :
WAIT!
Are we still on the track?
UH OH!
Felt that drop..
Now I know..
Woooaah!
Oh, we’re never going back!
[O/C/M/N/R/J] :
ARE WE
EVER
EVER
GOING
BACK?

do you ever think about how ocean was implied to be the first one to notice that the ride was broken and they were all absolutely fucked? in like every intro song (not uranium suite but uranium suite is mid anyways) there's at least one line that shows her having knowledge beforehand. in fall fair suite there's this line from ONLY OCEAN!! while everyone else dances around and sings the background vocals. but her line is, "had a strange feeling from the start. bought out tickets stood in line, a rickety cart. i did not feel safe at all. tick-a-tick-a heard the crack!" and then they all say "felt the drop, now i know im never going back!" but she could tell even leading up to the drop that they were going to die. in the choreography of "waiting for the drop", in the moment before the drop of the ride, ocean is like set aside from the rest of the choir and she has a look of absolute terror on her face because she KNOWS. she knows that these are her final moments alive. there isn't anything in tragic fact but idk the other two are pretty compelling to me! imagine how absolutely horrifying that must have been, knowing that you and your closest friends are all about to die on some stupid carnival ride. she had the time to think about everything the other members didn't. like the fact that she would never get to leave uranium no matter what she did, she would be stuck there for eternity. she wouldn't be known for her real accomplishments but for simply dying on a rollercoaster. she could've thought about anything and everything in those final moments. no one else even knew they were going to die until they were already falling, ocean had time to think about it and that's arguably so much worse. yeah, me neither.

Observation I made:
During this part of WftD, the closer the choir is to the front, the more violently they thrash around.
Ricky doesn't really thrash and only raises his crutches.
Mischa and Noel are slightly more intense but it mostly looks like they're reaching for something.
Ocean and Constance have the most intense and violent movements. Ocean's hair flips around and she twists; Constance flails then snaps right back into place
Maybe everyone knows that XD but hey I was the first person to make a post about so there's that! >:D

the rtc opening song titles go so hard. tragic fact? their death is tragic and raw and emotional. but it’s also a cold hard fact, one that everyone is expected to move on from, one day. except them. they’re dead. fall fair suite? aside from it being “fall fair” as in autumn carnival and “fall not fair” as something that had to happen. was always going to happen. it can also be fall fair as in, where the occurred, the fair. it will always be characterised in the public consciousness as a site of death. waiting for the drop? initially it conveys excitement for the best part of the ride, where endorphins rush and you scream. while you know it’s safe, it doesn’t feel that way. and that energy, that build up, is the point of the ride. but, when you get into it, when you go over it, it’s upsetting. waiting for the drop. waiting for the part that would kill them. waiting for something to suddenly happen that would make their lives meaningful. but if you wait for your life to start, it never does. uranium suite? a juxtaposition of a town we are told is rotting and isolated with grandeur and wealth. kind of like how the upsetting event of their deaths is wrapped up in a flashy musical competition.

I like it when Ride the Cyclone intros do the
“my life is falling off the track I know I’ll never get it back!”
“Life was about to start (had a strange feeling from the start), why did I get into that rickety cart (bought our tickets, stood in line, a rickety cart), it (I) did not feel safe at all. Ticka ticka heard the crack - felt the drop, oh I know I’m never going back!”
“Life was about to start, oh oh oh (cotton candy and rancid beers!) we never should’ve got into that rickety cart, oh no!”
“Wait! Are we still on the track? Uh oh! Felt that drop, now I know, woah! Oh, we’re never going back! Are we ever ever going back?”
“We’ll never leave this town alive, no, we will never leave this town at all!”
“(Did we finally leave our town?)”

Reasons for liking them:
Waiting for the Drop:
The only opening that actually takes place on the Cyclone!
Makes the audience truly understand how they're all just kids who wanted to ride a roller coaster.
Perfectly walks the line between lighthearted carnival fun and tragedy.
Has probably the scariest (/pos) version of the crash.
Despite being the most separated from the earliest opening, Tragic Fact, it still works in the ascending scale and Jane's operatic notes.
Lots of pretty harmonies!
The Uranium Suite:
Is probably the best opening musically.
Subtly blends material from other openings into it.
Has this dreadful and ominous feeling throughout.
Feels too dark, but at the same time, the darkness is what makes it so good!
ALSO lots of pretty harmonies!
