About my Security Breach AU fic on Ao3!!!

Do you love/like/tolerate Security Breach but wish Vanny had gotten more screentime? Do you wish you could have seen her slow descent into madness and villainy? Do you think it would be super cool if Vanessa was a separate person who fought desperately to protect Gregory and save her not-girlfriend-sort-of-girlfriend?

Well.

Breached is a 100k+ word fic currently in progress (about 60% done on Ao3) which serves as a fix-it/AU for Security Breach but also for the months leading up to that night. It is a Sapphic psychological horror based on the premise that Vanny and Vanessa are two different people and also they're in lesbians with each other.

Vanessa Ando (but you can call her Vanny) is a tech-savvy, rabbit-loving woman who has always dreamed of being the next William Afton. (Unfortunately for her, she gets exactly what she wants.) While helping the company debug their new VR game, Help Wanted, Vanny finds her undead mentor trapped in the game's code. Together, they get him out of there and into her head.

(It doesn't take long for her to realize she's made a horrible mistake.)

Vanessa Andros ('Ava' to avoid confusion) is hired as night security at Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex in late January, and she immediately becomes enamored with Vanny (who also works as night security, just on opposite nights.) But between all of Vanny's work projects and her own worry over the strange rabbit-suited woman breaking into her workplace, Ava has a hard time pursuing romance. (Though that doesn't mean she won't try!)

Gregory is a 12 year old boy who is definitely the son of someone in Fazbear Entertainment management. He is totally not homeless and absolutely doesn't sleep at the pizzaplex or scavenge the eateries there for his meals. He's also completely unaware of any weird things going on at the plex, including odd glitches interfering with the Glamrock band's functionality and some weird rabbit traipsing around at night. Yep. He's totally fine, and he loves when that oblivious blonde security guard pokes around in his business.

All three get roped into the plans of Glitchtrap, whose primary goal is to collect enough remnant to get his consciousness transferred to a new body. If he can do that, he'll no longer have to share the body with one (or is it two?) very reluctant follower(s).

SMALL DISCLAIMER

To be exceedingly clear, I love the original game and the official versions of Gregory and Vanessa! I just also like AUs, and I started this fic before the game came out when we weren't sure if Vanny and Vanessa would end up being the same person. I also take and leave from the canon based on what I like or dislike for the purposes of Breached. GGY is semi-canon, and Vanny's boss is Glitchtrap/William - not the mimic.

So upon seeing your note about Lies Within, a thought popped to mind. How did the possession of Mike go? Did it just happen while Mike was out? Or did he and Vanny have a nice talk while she prepped him bc I like the drama of that...Mike freaking out bc now he's seeing the trap while trying not to be sick while seeing the woman he just interacted with act so out of character, puppeted by Glitchtrap.

So without too many spoilers on this, I sort of answer a thing about Vanny that was in the game. Mike's possession was not done by Vanny-Vanessa, although at first glance it was meant to appear that way. There was a few clues when Vanny showed up to Scraptrap a few chapters before. Regardless, it was not done easily, and Mike did not go quietly into that good night XD He's definitely chilled by what's going on and whose being involved. Mostly what Lies Within answers is why Vanny appears, like, every-freaking-where Gregory goes within seconds. I choose to answer this in a way that also addresses just who are villains, the heroes, the inbetweens, and the undecided in this fic. One of Lies Within's secondary themes is remarking on how being a bad person and being a villain can be separate. Marionette is one of the subjects of this, but Vanessa and the other Glamrocks are also part of this lesson too.

2) Why these characters in particular? I'm not sure. I think I like the idea of something whose job it is to protect people who are the most vulnerable. They feel SAFE to me. Also space and celestial stuff is really cool to me. And the FANART.

6) Favourite sort of art and fic? I love fic where sun and moon are separate entities. I also like the sun or moonxreader fic but in a queerplantonic kind of relationship. Hurt/comfort is good. There's an artist (@shandzii) I really like and they're the one I hope to commission a piece for a tattoo from. One day.

12) Thoughts on Eclipse? Just add them to my little jester robot collection. The fanon one is super cool. I also like the canon one. Really needs a hug and is trying so hard to protect everyone. Not their fault Glitchtrap corrupted Moon. (I'm a firm believer that Moon was never evil or a "bad" guy regardless of canon)

15) Do I see Sun and Moon as two sides of one person or two separate beings in one body? I see them as two separate beings in one body. They may share an endoskeleton but I think their programming is for two different characters. Would be great if they could each have their own body.

also jeremy would be the first protagonist of the vr fic which would have ultimately been two parts; jeremys side and vannys side

post-pizza sim, jeremy hears abt fazbear entertainment's new ventures and decides to investigate. he feels he owes it to michael to keep an eye on them. so he ends up landing a beta tester job bc no one kept records to suggest maybeee we shouldn't hire the guy whose parents sued us to death in 87

jeremy beta tests vr and encounters glitchtrap, believing him william. glitchtrap dances around the truth and tries to get jeremy to help him to no avail. eventually glitchtrap loses patience with jeremy, whos trying to figure out how to purge him, and tries to forcefully possess him. jeremy resists so glitchtrap decides to just kill him, taunting him that he was never william at all.

jeremy breaks free at the last second, ripping off the VR headset. however, glitchtrap somehow willed his bite of 87 scar back open which sends him to the hospital. hes quietly let go from fazent and hits a dead end.

at the end of vr, a few months later, he meets Logan who's looking for his cousin ness. logan tells him she was a beta tester and jeremy knows exactly what happened.

in security breach, he was to have come to the mall with logan in search of ness.
