i never liked the 4th of july. patriotism just seemed so pointless to me as a kid, n now that i see all the injustices our country has let happen it’s hard to be proud of anything

now the 4th of july holds a bit more meaning to me. i neglected to share this last year when it happened in fear of being seen as "attention-seeking" or whatever, i was also in the midst of grieving n didn't really want to talk about it publicly

some of you may have noticed that peachii has not appeared in any pet posts i have made as of late, this is because she passed away on july 4th, 2020. we took her to a clinic the day before bc she was puffed up/looking ill, but she passed in my hands the very next day. i never got to celebrate her first gotcha day, or even her first hatch day, n i never got to see her fly (her wings were clipped, not at my request). i want to say she was about five or six months old when she passed away

yet in her short time on this earth she was the sweetest lovebird anyone could ask for. she loved peepo, n she loved attention. she loved climbing on people's feet n sitting there. she sung, but she was reserved for the most part. she was my little angel n i miss her every day. today i'm taking this day to grieve

rest in peace, peachii. i hope your passage along the rainbow bridge was a smooth one. i hope you finally learned how to fly
