I am, and it seems I have always been, easy at devoting myself to interactions from which I hope to receive

attention  

affection

adoration

But now I’m thinking the real craving was for

atonement

I so easily push to the wayside all things of personal value to accommodate Them and to satiate myself. And when the sun sets and the moon only temporarily serves as a replacement, I use her light to gaze at my image in the mirror as I pat my back for a job well done.

Yes, my dear, you are worthy of only those who will destroy themselves to be in your presence. You are worthy dear, because you would do this for Them. And you’ve always done this and some part of you wants to justify that your devotion is a characteristic that you should be and have been most proud of.

So dare I ask my dear, is it possible to destroy yourself to be in your own presence? Or do you deem Them more worthy of the characteristic you are most proud of?

Dear, you are justified in your self-sacrifice. You are justified in being proud of your ability to do so without even the essence of forethought. I marvel at you for your devotion and for your desire to continue devoting. I only challenge you, in this period and maybe forever, to devote to yourself as much as you do to others.
