there’s nothing profound about writing a character who’s near-suicidally devoted to taking down her enemies because she’s lost everything and then taking the last person she loves away from her and ending the show with her in anguish. there’s nothing groundbreaking about writing a character desperately struggling for agency & identity & to break away from the organization that abused her only to have her killed off in the process of destroying them, for shock value. and there’s certainly nothing new or fresh or clever about giving queer characters the tragic ending they were always “destined” to have, yet again. but whatever.

not that other anon shitting on the way you’re portraying a fictional character lmaooo. valid points ig but felt a lil harsh! anyway. wanna know what bothers Me about your fic? the lack of love it gets. literally such beautiful writing. look forward to every update and i can’t really say that happens too often. so ig i should thank you for giving me something to look forward to each week. oh, and i actually really love the way yelena is portrayed in this fic. it’s different from all the rest and i kinda love it. pls just keep doin what ur doin, and i’ll be here gettin all happy and giggly because of it. ah you’re great. thank you.
okay this was way too cute 😭 i’m really glad you enjoy my writing cause it really makes ME happy to share it with you guys, every little comment like this one is truly the sweetest and makes it even more worth it. so really thank you!! i hope you continue to enjoy it until the end ♥️

babyyyyy i just can’t with you honestly 😭 sweet words all around you’re literally the best. i have to agree with you - it doesn’t seem weak for me to show emotions (mostly considering the great deal of trauma we’re talking about) even if the character on the show seems more stoic (which again we haven’t seen much either so who knows). i answered to this quite innocently but it is unnecessary so thank you qs for sticking out for me i love you ♥️♥️
(also i hope i’m doing this right cause i’m still learning to use this thing so fingers crossed this is the way to answer)
i love your writing and your story, but there’s something that bothers me a lot about your fic. it’s actually really hard to picture yelena the way she is in your story because she’d never be weak and needy like that. yelena may show her emotions and cry without being ashamed of it, but she would never be fragile like that and need someone to basically treat her like a child. if you pay attention to hawkeye you can actually see that yelena is the one who always takes care of kate, trying to stop her from getting hurt, warning her about her mother and even feeding her, not the other way around. and if you compare both of their stories, you can see that yelena would be the pillar of the relationship bc she was raised to be strong and fearless and kate would be the spoiled rich kid (i love kate tho). you cannot expect a girl who was brought up under the wings of her rich mother to be tougher than a girl that had to fight for herself since day one.
oooh absolutely! my yelena is definitely out of character in comparison to the one we get on the show. the thing is my story is heavily heavily inspired by actual, real life events as i’ve mentioned sometime before, and thus the yelena in my story is written with someone else in mind. that’s not to say i haven’t kept things i liked about her, but she’s characterised after someone with a different personality that, to my original plot idea, needed to be way more tender and insecure (weak if you will) than hawkeye!yelena. so instead of getting a toughened up girl from her past abuse there’s more of a closed off person that’s way too vulnerable when she trusts someone. also, on a completely unrelated point i have to admit i do enjoy switching roles and giving the normally “weaker” person on the relationship the chance to be the one holding it up for the both of them, but that’s just personal preference!
still, total get it that it would rub you the wrong way to read yelena being depicted like that with the way she acts on the show! that’s the thing about AUs :(
i do hope if you manage to keep reading you enjoy their bits they have together tho!
