Honestly ever since I read on here someone saying all of Taylor’s songs are about HER first and foremost, it stopped me from “paternity testing” her songs. Not that I can’t link some of them to the men she’s dated but at their core, SHE is the subject matter. When you link the song back to how she felt, what she experienced, how she was affected, it stops mattering who the “muse” is.

I think Peter is about how she gave up on the fantasy and the illusion of staying young at heart or living wildly. Like she didn’t have to grow up, she wanted to and assumed he’d want to alongside her as well.
