When they heard what she had to say/They all slowly backed away/And her family took her aside and put their arms around her/They said Mary won't you please come back to us now/There is still time to repent for all your sins/And Mary started to cry when she realized/That she'd never come home again in her life
"Sad. it went deeply into my mind and never left. story with a sad ending, a change that cannot be undone"
Which Witch (Florence + The Machine)
And it's my whole heart weighed and measured inside/And it's an old scar trying to bleach it out/And it's my whole heart deemed and delivered a crime/I'm on trial, waiting 'til the beat comes out!
"The premise of the song is a witch trial, being accused of a crime and burning to death for your heart so this is perfect for projecting onto any blorbos that were accused/betrayed by the ones they love. It’s about… the Persecution of your own Heart simply for Existing!!!!! Joan of Arc, Casssandra, that sort of archetype. Also has a bit of an unrequited love aspect (he’s on my mind/I’m getting tired of crawling all the way) so it ups the angst factor, very Ophelia (‘heavenly powers restore him!’) to me. Also the song itself goes so hard with the choir like opening leading to the angry chanting verses and then soaring vocals with the powerful trumpet in the background, singer really sounds like she’s wailing out with her anguish. And then at the very end when the instruments leave and you’re just left with her agonized low voice talking about how she’s shackled but she never learns her lesson….Devastating. This song is for all the girlies who loved with their whole heart and got spat in the face for it."
Not my video but another friend of mine(not the one I went with) but who was also at the show, she was in the back with her parents. But she's given me permission to share this with y'all.
The song performed was the encore which was "Who do You Want to Be?"
