And then look for her. Except now it would seem as though she'd adopted another, Dog Breath's big brother's kid.

But did that mean that they were a thing now?

Trying to regain ground in her heart, he tried to earn the child's endearment. Only to find she was terrified of him, and for good reason.

But Kagome and that big 'ol heart of hers, somehow convinced him that to redeem himself he should help the child over her fear.

And like an ice cream on a hot summer's day, he melted to her will.

He'd make sure to help this tiny onna, if only to earn just a bit of the miko's affections.

I just imagine Kouga trying to be good boy and yoinking up flowers and bringing them to tiny Rin (whom loves flowers) just to get a smile thrown his way.

Don't get me wrong, I ship Sesskag all the way, everyday! But like this big stupid, I love him. LOL

"Tree fallen assault"

Picking apples, she lost her footing in the tree. Even startling the small kit, taking him with her.

Catching herself before hitting the ground, she lost a shoe and the basket she'd been holding.

He sighed loudly, "For what reason do you assult this one today?"

She gulped and slowly turned to see the demon lord whom held both of her fallen items. "Ah, lovely day hmm Lord Sesshomaru?"

Shippo held tight to the same branch she too caught, "Mama, perhaps you should just stay on the ground from now on?"

She grinned at the boy until the man decided to interject, "Even on solid ground your mother is a calamity kit."

He knew the kit lay awake, finally speaking in the quiet of the night, "sleep."

Shippo had tried, he really did but his mind took him further away. "Do you think I can stay with mama forever," his soft question called.

"You fear she intends to leave you?"

The boy sighed, "No, not like that. " After a pregnant pause he spoke again, "I know I'm not your ward, and you're not a wishing star," he faltered as if unsure of himself, "I just-"

"Sleep kit, she is safe."

A little annoyed he sighed, unsure if he even understood what the boy was saying. That was until he watched the demon lord move his pelt and set a hand on his sleeping mother's hip. Maybe he did understand.

"The great mushroom fiasco"

All Shippo had tried to do was make Rin laugh, really that was it. And whilst he did succeed, he also annoyed her very big, very scary demon lord.

He immediately retreated to his mother's shadow, seeing the scowl on the man's face.

"Kit."

As the very tall, very annoyed man towered over her smaller form- it became very apparent that the gods were testing her.

Because as the scowling man leaned over her, she tried desperately to not laugh at him whilst he was being very serious. So serious.

But all she could focus on was the tiny mushrooms, with their tiny faces making noises.

Waaaaaaaah

Just don't look him in the face, she chanted to herself mentally.

They were literally everywhere.

As he ripped one off his shoulders, prompting the tiny thing to stick out it's tongue, Rin was quick to retrieve it whilst giggling madly. "Oh that one's real mad," Kagome nervously spoke to fill the chaotic air the settled around them.

These two- correction These three were absolutely mad.

"Your child-"

Rin proceeded to copy the tiny mushrooms, sticking out her tongue and making loud brrrrps and pffffffts.

Kagome nearly died laughing.

"Just an onna's worries"

The children and played in the field whilst she'd tended her garden. Quite some time had passed, and a quietness fell over the normally rambunctious children.

He was never one to really venture into the small town, staying to the outskirts.

A sort of happiness settled in the pit of her belly when she approached him. The children must have fallen asleep, how lucky they were for a midday nap.

She kneeled down at the side of his large plummed pelt, "Now that's not something you see everyday."

He didn't move, only opting to cut gleaming golden eyes at her smiling face, "Hnn."

She stared at the children, absent mindedly setting a hand on the majestic fluff. Finally after a pregnant pause she spoke, "Hey Sesshomaru." She was paused yet again, "Do you think you can do something for me?" His eyes had yet to break away, "When I'm gone, can you be there for him too?"

He blinked a few times at her, "You will go no where woman."

She smiled, her eyes welling up with tears unshed, "Of course not, not willingly."

When she refused to speak further, he felt a odd feeling over come him. Finally scoffing after a moment he spoke, "You've yet to give this one your praise." When she looked confused, he grumbled again, "Surely you know your kit would not willingly sleep upon this one's pelt or within my reach."

In that moment she laughed, was he trying to cheer her up?
