My opinion on the topic of a season four for Hannibal:

I don’t believe that there is any way for it to be done well enough to make it worth having. Everyone who has seen the show has their own ideas about the end- whether they die or not, etc- there is no continuation of their story that could satisfy everyone. The fanfictions show that well enough.

Part of what makes a show great is when it ends, and when the ending works.

There is no other way that a love story between a cannibal and an FBI profiler could end than in death, and at least their deaths had poetry. They died together as they lived together. They found their peace, and there was no way it could last, so they couldn’t either. There are so many reasons as to why this ending hits so hard, and for me they all boil down to the idea that it’s because it was meant to be.

From the moment that Will met Hannibal Lector, his death was on a clock, counting down the hours, minutes, seconds, until their battle was either won or lost. But both outcomes are the same. Their end was the result of a zero sum game. They were equal on every part. They came in with their lives and left in the only way they could have.

It is impossible to correctly word just how right their end was, which only proves to me that I could not ever be satisfied with that not being the end.

I’m not saying that it’s impossible for a fourth season to be done well, or that fan fiction writers shouldn’t imagine a fourth season. I’m just saying that everyone has their own version of what it would be, so there’s no version that lives up to everyone’s imaginations
