Your bookbinding projects are so cool!! Could you tell us how you do it? How do you format everything so nicely and like, get it into book form? Frigging sorcery that's what it is, wow
Thank you so much! <3
ArmoredSuperHeavy's guide was invaluable; I could not have done bookbinding without them. It details step-by-step how to format your book in Word to make it look like a book, how to print it, and then some information on how you can put the book together.
This tutorial and this tutorial (both by sealemon on Youtube) show how to do the first stitch to sew my text block together that I tried. Great tutorial and a kettle stitch is a super easy one to do.
Along with Superarmorheavy's guide above, I also used this tutorial by sealemon again for how to do a hard cover case binding.
This Bookbinding Resources Master List has a TON of information on where and what supplies you'll need to get for bookbinding. It's a bit overwhelming, but I found in general, the basics you need are:
Awl (one of the more sturdy ones, but don't get one that will punch too thick of a hole)
Bonefolder (absolutely essential! You can find places to purchase it in the Master List above or on Esty or Amazon)
Paper (This is my current preference, cheap enough for starting out but still has a book look)
Linen thread (I've seen some tutorials just using sewing thread too)
Pretty paper (for end papers and/or covers, though I've learned it's much better if you use a thicker, more sturdy paper for end papers, something closer to cardstock)
Bookcloth (links to stores that sell it can be found in the Bookbinding Resources Master List above, there's a least one website that sells a grab bag of cloth, which I really liked because you get a random assortment of cloth you can use!)
Book press (You can either buy one or make your own. I made my own, which was EXTREMELY easy to do, there are guides in the Master List above, or I used sealemon's tutorial here)
PVA Glue and some sort of brush (a bigger one and smaller one help, you can find the glue in the Resources Master list above)
Davys board/chipboard/something sturdy to serve as the hard part of your hard cover (You can find places to purchase it in the Master List above, or you can buy chipboard at a craft store, or if you really want to, you can use cardboard you have at home!)
T-square ruler (You're going to be doing A LOT of measuring. Any ruler would work, I just find a T-square makes sure I am perpendicular to the paper)
box cutter (in addition to having a box cutter, I've also found one of these to be EXTREMELY helpful for people like me who have trouble with straight lines)
A good printer, or otherwise you will have to print at a place like Staples. I ended up buying a cheap laser printer, best purchase I've ever made.
I..... think that's it. I may realize I've forgotten something and I'll make an edit to this post later. I am always happy to answer questions though!

She Must Be Dying Without A Reflection
Far from my biggest problem with Season 4, but on recent rewatch I realised that I really don't like the way everyone reacts to finding out that Harmony has become a vampire. It's just unnecessarily (and I think kind of unpleasantly) flippant in a way that really doesn't feel in character for anyone involved.
Or, well. Arguably Harmony hasn't actually 'become' a vampire at all, which is sort of my point. With the weird exception of vampire!Willow in Doppelgangland, the show to this point has been pretty consistent about following the line established early in Season 1 that this isn't how it actually works.
So in The Harvest, Giles is quick to tell Xander that Jesse has not 'become' a vampire:
"Jesse is dead ... you're not looking at your friend. You're looking at the thing that killed him."
And in Lie To Me, Buffy points out that Ford's plan to 'become' a vampire has a fundamental flaw:
"That's not how it works. You die, and a demon sets up shop in your old house ... it remembers your life, but it's not you."
But compare this to The Harsh Light Of Day, where the Scoobies' collective response to finding out what happened to Harmony is just to ... blandly agree that she was always a shallow and unpleasant person and not particularly care beyond that. I mean, that's a natural enough response to finding out a disliked former classmate has been kicked out of college or decided to become a life coach or whatever, sure. But to finding out that she's dead? Seems a bit much.
Obviously strict rigorous world-building was never really the point of the show and nor should it have been. But up to this point it felt like this was a bit of lore that the show was trying to take somewhat seriously. And I just don't think the pay-off for not taking it seriously here is worth it.
It's particularly galling, actually, since Harmony wasn't just killed by a vampire off-screen during the gap between seasons. Whatever her faults, Harmony died fighting vampires and trying to help save the town from a giant demon. Which feels like the sort of thing you might bring up when you're busy agreeing how vapid and self-absorbed somebody was. And she did so at the explicit request of the people who are now shrugging her death off as though it's just another flaky life choice.
I mean, blaming herself for things that go wrong in Sunnydale, even when they clearly aren't her fault, is ... sort of Buffy's true calling in this show (really, the whole vampire stuff is more of a hobby). At one point in Season 3 she somehow manages to blame herself for almost being burned at the stake by an angry mob, and apologizes to Willow about it while it is still happening. And this is one of those rare deaths that I think arguably is kind of Buffy's fault. (Having everyone in the school turned up armed to graduation to fight the Mayor's vampires is ... thematically satisfying, sure, but it's not strictly necessary to the whole 'blow up the big snake' plan, is it?) And yet ... nothing.
So yeah, this little moment just kind of bugs me
(I don't really like the way vampire!Harmony is used as a character throughout Buffy or later on in Angel, either, but that's largely a separate issue.)

hey so if any of you saw this image of Jonathan and the vampire ladies from the Dracula ballet

“All he saw were her lips, full and pouty, and—provided that she kept them shut and didn’t actually speak—eminently kissable.
Kissable?
Anthony shuddered. The thought of kissing Kate Sharma was terrifying. In fact, the mere fact that he’d even thought of it ought to be enough to have him locked up in an asylum.
And yet…”
