i agree that every woman should go bald once in her life, but i don't agree that she should be forced into being bald when she is just a young kid. i stand behind St Baldrick's organization and everything they do.

jesus christ i am glad the heat wave is over. my hair was super exhausted from all of the sweat and headbands and bobby pins. now it's time for something exciting - 2 months of PURE bliss.

so get to the streets y'all, strut it round. Try it down, try it back, try it curly, try it straight (BUT DO NOT STRAIGHTEN WITH A STRAIGHTENER!), try it red and blonde and brown. You see fall is the time when we're finally comfortable in our own skin and i plan to work it out.

grandma needs cremes and ointments

first things first - i finally found my perfect texturizing creme (ugh i hate that word).

i have tried bumble and bumble shit, i have tried aveda shit (the whip is alright) and i have tried cheap shit left and right and i've hated them all. can't a girl get texture AND hold?! i'm so needy.

the magic creme (ugh i hate that word) is kenra's texturizing taffy (thank god i don't have to say creme).

this shit is amazing! don't be afraid that the "taffy" is purple and smells like cotton candy, it's worth overlooking that. shorties - try this shit!

i am 100% not paid by kenra to say anything nice about kenra.

what up jive-beehive-turkeys?

we are in the midst of a heat wave and i am faded... no literally i got a fade and it's the best thing i've done ever.when everyone is dripping sweat down the back of their neck, i'm cool, fancy free and supa dupa fly - as missy elliott would say.

in fact... i'm beginning to think that i am a big of a "length-ist". i do NOT know how girls keep their hair long in the summer. what is the POINT ladies? you just put it up anyway.

lookin like a badass 101

i've been a huge fan of bandanas for my entire life. i grew up in rural missouri where bandanas are to bad asses as pocket protectors are to nerdos and dweebies. (take note of that, it might be on the SATs).

i'm so glad head wraps and scarves and tied bandanas are on such a hot wave right now, because your most simplistic outfit and boring hair can be turned into "too cute" with one tie.

last night i went for drinks for someone's birthday and wore me a cute tied bandana and someone told me i looked like a bad ass. now i'm soft and pudgy and have the face of a fucking angel... and i don't get the bad ass thing very often.

on top of being a grade-A coolio, a head wrap can make you polished and can hide the worst hair days. summer is a great time to tie one on and head to the bar.

ah my little pretties, it's been far too long. i know you've been weeping while singing love songs into hair brushes about me while i was gone. fear not, lovers, i am back.

i was in a class for the winter/spring and it sucked the life out of me.

was i valedictorian? nope - in fact i had to look up how to spell that word, but goddamn it, i had the best hair in the class and always came prepared with tea and a smart-ass witty comment or two.

while i was gone it became summer. my favorite and most dreaded of seasons. i love that fun things happen in summer - like drinking and passing out in parks-, but gurl my hair hates summer. i am a fan of soft wind and a brisk day... sweat is never good for a girl with bangs. oh but here, i got a new hair cut... it's dare i say "boss"?

my color is dope, i know. everyone needs a summer pick me up and i definitely will ride this until fall.

i feel like only yesterday i was listening to soundgarden and putting all my hair up except two little whispy bangs that would frame my angry face.

where in the world will hair go this year? is it possible that style will come back and i'll be all like "ugh, those kids wearing that stupid hair cut don't know that it's already been cool". chances are slim. but here is what i think will happen and in no particular order.

now i hear the kids talking about that lana del rey and her perfect locks and that is great, but the way to everyone's heart is through effortlessly shaggy hair. if you can make all the boys in the yard believe that you don't own a hair brush, good for you. the smart ones KNOW what it takes to look like you care so little.

i ain't scurred of it.

but it's hard to work towards something and then accept that it might not be right for you. i was a long haired small town girl until i moved to chicago 6 years ago. then i found my style. i had no idea that i was not owning my style until my stylist helped me cut it off, it ALL off.

i played around a lot with the short do and then yearned for a pony. so the grow out began. to make it fun i cut it into a cut little asymmetrical hair cut. ladies (and gents) - if you want attention, get yo'self an asymmetrical hair cut!

so how'd it come about? oh man ... quickly as i'm usually pretty quick to turn around an idea. so i thought to myself what do i love about my different hair styles. i LOVED my blunt bangs but i love not having anything on my neck so i did some digging.

i totally dig the 1920s bangs, i wanted to really push this into my next hair escapade

i love the soft slope of a 70s pixie! look at how perfect hers is? how could i modernize this?

the first idea was something like this; however, ive got a round face (still got my baby fat and then some!) so until i'm thin this is put on the backburner

then i got nervous about length. what was i doing? grow it out for a year just to cut it. maybe i should keep some length and do a modern halo?

and then i got my legs back after seeing an awesome neck like this!

growing it out, takes hair-t

ive been a bad bad girl.

ive been tempted to cut the growth... and the temptation was too much. i cannot handle seeing a short cut and thinking that its perfection! all it took was one glance at a short haired chick on the bus and i had an appointment with my stylist. pics to come.

hair is like art. everyone has a style they like... complicated with lots of twists and turns or long and fringe like. i LIKE short hair. i look best with short hair, and honey, why WOULDN'T i have it? why would i work for something that is in style now without knowing if it will be in tomorrow. a good hair style never goes out of vogue (just like a wonderful piece of art).

man oh man.

HELLO INTERNET

it's been a while, and for that, i do not apologize.

i was on vacation and it was a beautiful thing. and then i came back to a shit ton of work and it was a hideous, monstrous thing. but guess what, i did get a tan. ME? the whitest girl of them all, with a tan!

i got to whip out some of my "summer" lipsticks and give it another go for the winter. i'm sorry but some lipsticks just need a tan... others just need pale skin... but i dont subscribe to this "red heads can't wear red" bullshit or "dark reds can wash you out" or "orange lipstick is halloweeny". i think you need to play around with your lip hues to see what is best with your eyes and hair.

love a nude lip for winter. this is my new shizz. ps - this looks GA-reat on brunettes.

let your hair down

that's it!

i can't take it anymore. my hair is straight oo-gly. growing your hair out is the pits. why do people do it? for a pony tail?! yes...a thousand times yes, i want a pony tail. i want the ability to braid it and then let it out and twirl it around my finger.

all of this hair stress has really made me reconsider long hair. i looked dandy with a pixie, trust you me. so - what i'm going to do is go to mexico.... enjoy my thanksgiving.... look for inspiration to work with what i have .... and drink, HEAVILY. come on, it's getting close to the holidays so let's all let loose.
