PUSS IN BOOTS 2!!!
The last Wish
I went in not expecting anything and came out really amazed.
First of all the thematic, the whole topic of Cat having one life left and death literally going after him life huh? It's so good because it takes this message of him being grounded in reality and evaluating his own mortality and life choices and how he can't just go in life feeling like consequences and actions don't matter and that drives the general plot for him evolving with Kitty, also death was an amazing implement on narrative device, more than a character his a narrative device but works perfectly and gives cat an own individual plot that drives the message of the movie.
Also the dog it's also a really simple message but this whole deal of appreciation of what you have and being optimistic and being grateful it's contrasting the character of Jack who is this antagonistic persona that is completely ungrateful even though he had everything in life, is a simple message to appreciate what we have and to never give up which is a good message for kids.
The whole map thing is a perfect way to expose the characters motivations and reasons of looking to obtain the wish without saying it and therefore overexposing, you can catch on and guess and determine each character, all of them were great and all had a good development of course cat and his team had more obviously but the others as supporting subplots had good stuff and aren't forgettable, Goldie is really cool she was one of my favs, i called what her wish was gonna be but it still managed it well and gave me the feels.
And the fact all of them already had since the beginning what they wished for, but realized it along the way is greatly implemented and again a good message for kids and how the only one who perished was the privilege aristocrat who didn't appreciate life and what he was given, as annoying as his character was it still did a good implement to the plot.
Not to mention i was laughing so hard at the eyes fight of who was cuter and tbh as childish as the humor is i was laughing it's really well, the management of emotions both laughter and joy, and the sad and angst moments are good and a genuinely felt with the characters.
Dude anxiety... when cat had an anxiety attack omg that was such a good way to implement topics such as existencial crisis and anxiety when facing death in a kids movie, it feels real but also dynamic and filled with color and animation that is visualy pretty.
The animation? Omg it's so much better than the first movie, it was so beautiful, dynamic, it was engaging and i would love to see more, i couldn't take my eyes of the screen, it almost felt like an animated comic reminded me a bit of Spiderman into the spider verse in that sense.
The characterization of death is cheff kiss, is so enjoyable to watch, his design, his color pallette, his whistle is so memorable and soothing to the ear.
It may be a kids movie but you can feel the effort and love, let's stop minimazing animated films for kids cause that takes nothing, this is still as good and it's both enjoyable as a kid and as someone older like me i would definitely give it a second watch. This should be standar for quality in kids movies
I liked the first one a lot too but this is by far better , although i will say Americano by lady Gaga song in the first movie was so good wished they kept it i do have to say i liked the soundtrack more in the first one but still this one is cheff kiss, came out of that theater so amazed i srs wasn't expecting anything lol.
Oh and I'm glad they didn't bring Humpty back i fucking hated that egg lol

[ My second post and it's about movies again ]
I never thought I even had to think about smth like this BUT
[ It was my wedding day, we were getting ready and there wasn't a cloud in the sky ]
I was buying myself tickets for [ Puss in Boots: The last wish ] recently, and some dudes at the line near me, bying tickets for [ avatar:the way of water ], tried to roast me "a grown ass adult" for watching a cartoon, instead of some real movies like they did.
I said nothing and swifted away ,
[ cause my autistic ass was startled, brain froze and I forgot how to words. why do they even feel like they should speak to stranger like that in the first place? ]
so i gonna speak up here.
••• ••• •••
So first off all - be fr, bro - most part of your movie is CGI, so technically you're watching a cartoon too.
You can do your smug looks at me all you want, but at least my movie has a good animation and an actual plot in it, and your has more water in it than a thesis i wrote for college. I gave a very little damn about it, but got a good grade anyway, because I was a pretty and made myself reputation of a smart one.
Aside of one's being a good fairy tale and another being offensive, it's like we comparing a rich flavored dish with, sometimes beautiful, but still lean soup with nothing.
••• ••• •••
I wish I could stay there and at least tell them it's actually will be my fourth time watching ✨️the last wish masterpiece✨️. Words can tell how much I enjoyed it, may be my comfort one.
[ and 'animation it's smth for kids only'-thing is aging so bad, like is ✨️Bluey✨️, ✨️Entergalactic✨️ and ✨️Pinoccio by Guillermo Del Torro✨️ kinda jokes to you? ]

Hey, I saw one of your posts talking about people liking Russian things and media and how that negatively impacts you because of the (indisputably traumatic and unfair) hardships of being Ukrainian rn. As someone who has made friends with people who are both Ukrainian and Russian and who believes the war to be undeniably bad and cruel (ESPECIALLY for Ukrainian people), I don’t quite understand why the culture or people or even the place itself is the bad thing. Many Russians hate their government, and the culture/people themselves aren’t inherently evil or selfishly cruel. It’s a good example of a horrible GOVERNMENT literally all of my Russian friends who have even managed to be online safely using VPNs chastise for being awful and frequently wish to leave.
I don’t understand why you would feel so negatively towards the act of somebody else even LIKING anything remotely related to Russian in name or origin, when it isn’t the common people or the culture itself that are bad. You shouldn’t have to endure the hardships you are enduring right now, but I fail to see how that makes all Russian people and things evil. Please explain, I’m a little confused and genuinely want to hear how you feel. Apologies if this comes off as being rude or is triggering.
Now imagine saying all of that about Germany to some Jewish person during WWII
Like I said in the comments to that post, culture is created by people. Russians literally have a cult of war and it's not a joke. Lots of them are happy about deaths of Ukrainians. I personally recieved death threats from some russians. Here are some screenshots with the reactions of common russians:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ukrainian culture always was oppressed by russians. More than hundred official bans of our language during 18-20th centuries, lots of poets, writers, musicians, artists were exiled to Siberia or just executed. Common people were either deportated or killed and they were replaced by russians, that's why so many people in Ukraine use russian language. You may say again that this is all government doings, but it formed an imperialistic views in generations of russians. Thats why lots of them think Ukraine is a part of russia and Ukrainian language is just a rural dialect. We are just little silly brothers to them. And this is how Ukrainians are depicted in A LOT of russian media, this is what they translate to the world through their media, and by spreading that propaganda people are just doing a lot of harm to Ukrainian people and culture as well as to other oppressed nations. By romanticising ussr's and russian aesthetic and culture people are romanticising or most likely ignoring all the harm those regims did and do to oppressed nations. It feels like we all are just a joke to the world.
Btw it's literally 90 years from the biggest genocide of Ukrainians and Kazakhs in 20th century — The Holodomor. And we, Ukrainians, are going through the genocide onse again.
And don't say that russians can't do anything with their government when there are so many brave Iranians fighting and dying for their freedom right now.
Hope now it's better for you to understand why spreading and supporting russian culture isn't a good idea right now. If not, well, we will never be able to understand each other.

So, about Goncharov...
At first, I was comfortable with just blocking the tags and content, but I've seen the error of my ways, so here we are.
Folks, I get that it's always fun to mislead people outside of tumblr and yadda yadda
but can you at least take something that doesn't glorify Russian culture and makes it relevant while Russia is literally destroying my country with missiles?
I understand that in the eyes of the many the aesthetics of Russia (especially during the times of the Soviet Union and the Russian Empire) is "cool, dramatic, mysterious"
But that's just a pretty picture. A facade, if I may. Do you know what it's really like?
At this very minute, as I am writing this post, rockets are once again flying over peaceful Ukrainian cities.
A newborn baby was killed by a rocket tonight. In a maternity hospital. That they've struck by a missile. In the middle of the night.
How can you still perceive Russia and its culture as something interesting and worthy of attention?
Why it's always Russia, who takes the spotlight? Why isn't it Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, Belarus or any other country/nation, whose blood and bones became the foundation of "great russian culture"?
At the beginning, it was fun for me to watch as this unreality thing became popular and gained more attention.
But yesterday we had a story with a major studio, who erased Ukrainian heritage in their promo of the well-know series. And if not for the huge backlash then "Prince Yaroslav the Wise, ruler of Kyivan Rus", would be known to the world as "warrior ruler and king of Northern Russia" (that didn't even exist back then btw) and it would be once again regarded as an achievement of "great russian culture"
And make no mistake - it's not me, taking away a tumblr's new favourite toy.
No, what I'm trying to do is show you, that it can be about just anything but not Russia. Not now. Not ever.

Call me a sensitive snowflake or dense twitter dumbass who doesn't understand brilliant tumblr humor, but I am really annoyed that out of all things you could've made up a fake movie about, you choose russian mafia with a fake cover prominently featuring kremlin and other classic cliches. I wish tumblr didn't show me this shit in recommendations.
I am sitting with my family in a basement for two hours already hiding from russian rockets (that killed at least one person already today in Kyiv alone), half of Ukraine is without water or electricity, maybe it's not the place and time to make these light hearted tumblr jokes about russians? Just a thought.

Some comments on my review are actually hilarious. Like do people even read an actual post before writing comments?
[ I'll not reading a long post like this ]
So you scrolled it to the very end to make sure it's actually so long you can't take it, and came in my comments to threw some shit at me? Its ok if you dont wanna read smth, chill out, block me and save your nerves.
[ Delete this no one cares ]
Ma bro, ma guy, dude, not caring it's kinda part of a problem. You are the part of the problem. That way of thinking made issue I pointed on so normalized, that it's goes on and on automaticly through generations. Without people like you don't even trying do think and understand.
And [ no one ] ? People who reposted it be like
Tumblr media
[ How dare you blazing licking Disney's ass ]
You're right, screw Disney. But I'm not trying to support Disney in general. I try to support diversive content when i can. Support financially since it is the only language Disney, a generational trendsetter, knows.
And is it an 'ass licking' to tell I like smth very much, did I missed some clue as an autistic person?
If you actually read at least final part of my review, after •••• ••••, you would know that it was about my experience and history of my people.
I blazed it to tell why this movie is so important to me amd why it may be important for other people as well.
I blazed it to find people who want to talk about my culture, African or Mayan culture, this movie, comics, aqua papi ect.
May be I should blaze it even more to piss of some more baby boys out there. Maybe I should make this sacrifice to entertain and educate those who would listen. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to find or meet someone or smth interesting in process.
If I said something insensitive to people of colour though - I welcome you to call me out.
And what was unclear about me blocking anyone who disrespectfuly going off topic? I'm a Namor kinny, I have a very little chill, especially this days.

• Wakanda forever, Líik'ik Talokan and Glory to Ukraine •
[ ukrainian girl's perspective of the latest mcu movie ]
Tumblr media
I watched [ Black Panter: Wakanda forever ] recently, and I can clearly tell - it's gonna be my favorite movie of the long long time. It's an amazing, really good action movie, one of the most epic I've seen. I loved it so much to see beautiful cultures, and all honor to Chadwick Boseman's memory made me very emotional every time. Like those silent moments whole audience was silent too, almost holding their breath.
Tumblr media
And the most important for me was character of Namor, his arc and whole point about colonization. This period of time, colonization of America and erasing cultures hurted me so deep as an autistic child with history as an interest, and now I can relate so much with all this stories as an adult woman of the nation fighting for independence [ and survival basically ].
In our National Day of Dignity and Freedom want to talk with you about it. Why it is so important for me personally, and maybe for many conscious people of our nation as well.
Not for trying to compare who suffered more through the history. It never was, and never will be my goal, this would be awful thing to do. But to share history of my people and explain why this movie and character affected me so much.
For short - though Namor despites human kind in general I hope he might be pleased to see our "let's burn colonizators to the ground" resistance after hundreds of years of oppression, when old 'mighty' Europe only saying they're conserned and "let's just calm down and talk everybody". Heaven knows we tried everything, we tried to talk so many times. Russians do not want to talk with us - they want to make us assimilated part of their country, or they want us dead. And we just want to be left alone and live our lives.
For a bit longer story - just look at this monstrosity of a country. Is this normal for country to be THAT enormously big?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can say: - Maybe. And I will say: - Only if all subjects having equal rights, impact and independence inside the union.
But things never in the history of russian expansion was like that,  and im going explain it, and hope you will get it why  I have used word "colonizators" earlier.
I really wanted to write a whole proper article or essay about this, but I'm without electricity for most of the time lately. "Thanks" to russian missiles damaging our power plants. And it become really hard for me to engage in deeper research, to translate and put in here sources that wasn't originally in english.
So instead it will be more little history lesson with knowledge from my head, and little documentaries from other intelligent people, which I recommend you to watch to illustrate my point. Videos was made by ukrainan creators, so yu can trust them, english subs that can be turned manually if you open them on YouTube, I'm still not sure how this works here.
I'll mostly use history of my country as an example since i know it better, I feel I have no right to talk about other nations at their behalf.
So Muskovy [ USSSR and modern Russia ] is like adopted offspring of the Golden Horde.
Tumblr media
Golden Horde expanfion, you can spot something similar already
It expands only to consume resources, erasing native people of that lands. Do you think small swampy peace of land it originally was had all that gas, oil and wood they're bragging about nowadays?
Do you think there wasn't native people in that land who was exterminated, exiled or assimilated so russians can use resources this nation had? They didn't even had a clear access to big water.
Muskovy was a small part of Kyevan Rus' on a distant swampy land, but it wanted more influence in the world, a clear access to the big water - Black Sea that we had, since they didn't have it and felt like they missing up whole worldwide trading and invasive wars party.
To do so they tried to get all the land for themselves. Kyevan Rus' then was successful and strong country of its time but had an internal issues [ muskovy as one of them ] and was struggling with every neighbor wanted to get a part of its territory.
Interesting story for another time, let's focuse on a russian part of it.
So Muskovy put their eyes on not only territories of modern Crimea, wich was their own country that days  - Crimean Khanat, but all modern Odesa-Mykolaiv-Kherson-Mariupol lands. But they can't get there easily, they need to concuer all the land, wich is not bad itself as it has a lot of coal, forest ant great agricultural potential.
But my people don't wanted to give it up so easily, wanting our territories back, wanting a safespace for our culture and history, so fighted with their lifes. This leads to more than 300 years of  [ - give me your land! - no. ] and after becoming an Empire strong enough to overpower us [ - give us our independence back! - no. ] cycles of merciless wars.
And than Russian Empire coming up with a time proved strategy. I don't know did they make it by themselves or sneaked a peak of it by older empire-sisters but they're using it til now,  evolving from Russian Empire to USSR to Russian federation like some wicked Pokémon.
And here's coming the interesting part with the videos I prepared for you,  grab some snacks and let's go.
The first one is about how russia tried to erase our language
youtube
This one about them them trying to erase our culture and replace it with a fucking joke.
youtube
And the last one is about creating an image of our people as angry, stupid and degraded, with THEM as superior nation above us, mostly in our heads.
youtube
They knew what they were doing and did that on purpose. They wanted make us ashamed of our culture, to separated us from who we are and mash into a faceless "brotherhood nations" with recourses to use.
Unfortunately - it worked, and worked very well as whole nation has an inferiority complex now, simpy denying ourselves. Feeling like its better to be associated with them, to blend in what they are calling culture, than discover our own one, that was appropriated, stolen or forgotten for generations, almost fighting for not to be lost forever.
So-called "big brother of ours" enslaved our people with serfdom, suppressin our attempts to embrace our heritage, to gain independence, causing artificial hunger Holodomor in 1932-33 also known as Terror-famine in Ukraine, or by repressions like Executed Renaissance. Our culture is still alive and kicking, but you can see there was not big room for blooming.
Those who they couldn't execute - they calling heritage of their own. For example Treasure Island animation, dr. Livesey from it internet loved so much not so long ago - it's actually ukrainian made.
They simply called russain everyone talented or famous from so-called union. They made sure it's almost impossible for you to pursue your ambitions as a scientist, artist or musician anywhere but Russia, so if you work in Russia you will be seen as and caled russian, no matter where you from.
No matter wich culture certain traditional attires [ vyshivanka or papakha ] dish [ borsh or chebureki ] or other heritage  like giorgian dance woman lezghinka russians calling their beryozka now, came from - it all claimed by them as their general [ stolen ] russian culture.
They did it not only to us. I told I wouldn't be speaking of other nations but just take a look what was done to Crimean tatars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you thought I made up my point about them wanting access to the sea VERY BAD
You may search on YouTube or TikTok how russians treating their neighbor "former soviet union" countries [ like Republic of Kazakhstan or Georgia ] when visiting them.
Like "you should be grateful we bring civilization to your land" and "your native name is to hard for me to pronounce, I'll just call you Masha, Natasha, Ivan etc." Ask people of other Caucasian regiongs about how they was and still treated till now, ask belorusians about their language [ spoiler - it is dying ].
Its so unfair, that now we are screaming at the top of our lungs to be heard, for people to see us the nations of our own, to just let us be and cherish our culture.
But our voices are suppressed by voices of our oppressors telling us to calm down and listen to them since they know the better way for us to live and solve problems THEY CAUSED. With no regrets or reflexia.
And world prefers to listen to them, praising them, insted of listen to people who was offended, if not to say violated, by them. Not only us, many other nations,.
After all i said this story may sound familiar to black people, indigenous people of America, people of other colonized countrie - because IT IS.
Or you may say to me:
- I'ts just white's business, mind it on your own.
Ok, though its not very correct statement, but I'll take it for now. Let me show you this video, then - Russia is literally colonizing African countries right now for their woods. They won't stop. They simply don't want to, still thinking imperial way.
youtube
             •••• ••••   •••• ••••   •••• ••••
Thank you for reading all of this to the end.
My point here was not to make this movie and other people's trauma about my people, to take it away from you. This is YOUR history and YOUR experience.
I'm writing this not to impose ourself in your place, not to say that we can completely 100% clearly understand what are you feeling. I just wanted to share what are going through, to show why this movie in general and Namor in particular is so important and precious to me as.
I feel like he was right all along, just like us wanting nothing other than protect his land and people. Time is now for Ukraine and someone has to end this monster, burn those russian world | peace* they bringing everywhere they go, and we'll not hasitate.
* in russian there's one world for this term, basically it means "coercion some country to peace by violence and propaganda for expantion through the world"
I think it's really important to point some serious issues in movies like that. You may not like the movie, or actors or else, I respect that, but it's social commentary, it's impact you can't overestimate.
I believe some nations should be pointed at this on and on and on like "yes, YOUR nation did it. Yes. Yes it did. It's part of your history and responsibility is not going anywhere. Your way of thinking now is a part of the problem! Take it, rethink it and work it out,  like a mature nation should".
I believe that we can overcome this trauma, educate people [ though some of them may use the Clockwork orange therapy instead ], and in some time make world a better place without all this shit.
I've seen [ Wakanda forever ] two times at theaters already and I'm planning to go for it again. I want it to make a good income, I want corporations see at least financial benefit of educating people, of making an empathy gap smaller.
I want them to seek profit in making a good culture and history representation, to give voice for this people to talk to a wider group of people - its freaking Marvel, after all. To educate and unite those who suffering with generational and colonial trauma.
For example after "Encanto" someone might catch themselves wondering - who was those people that attacked Abuelas village and why would they do that?
Like "The Woman King" left me shaken . Movie may not be 100% historically accurate, as I'm aware, but it was good as the work of art, it showed culture, tradition, and the tragedy. It really drove me to this culture, I hope many people as well wanted to know more, and more.
Simple wandering who K'uk'ulkan may originally be, what a meaning his figure may originally have, may lead people to more serious research. To study, to respect and adore as this cultures in the way they deserve to. Like my childish adoration is booming and blooming now, bringing me so much joy, im eager to learn and resurch. I just hope books from my childhood aren't burned to ashes in occupied town where I left them.
And I'm only waiting for my salary to try to buy some books end explore world of Black Panter more. Same for comics in general - I was torn from pop-culture growing up, trying regaining this loss in past few years, taking friendly recommendations here, indigenous, POC or queer stories\creators is a priority.
I'm open for discussion, since my mind is a mess after this movie. I have so many thoughts, I love it - the movie and thinking thoughts -  very much.
We can also discuss how amazing it is to see celebration of any other than white european cultures on the big screen, how beautiful it is to see people of color on the leading roles, and black people in position of power through the plot. To show them as good and proud people, who know their worth, and will not tolerate any disrespect towards them. [ and how pleasing it is to see so pissed off people those empathy ends when starts conversation about the minority they can't associate themselves with. It's not about or for you, wolrd is changing, adjust a little, baby boy ]
We can discuss the messages from Black Panter movies that someone with the real power do not use it to cause harm, but the weak ones always seeking power to abuse the others. The message about loss and grief. Like now I have deeper understanding of our national motto "heroes never die".
Or we can share our love to Namor. As my sister told me after the movie - despite our shared thalassophobia we'd love be one of Talokan people. To have place then you'll be safe and secure, to have fatherly caring figure of K'uk'ulkan that always by your side protecting you, making sure that all will be well. Aqua papi? Aqua papa, por favor, gracias. And please - his little wooden house - isn't it adorable? Does his mother inspired him to make it? Does that mean his heart still have some little room for something from the surface? I don't need sleep, I need answers.
You can offer your theme to talk about, but if you coming to start some rude shit here - I'll not hesitate to block you immediately. Same goes for those who didn't like the movie as much as I did, I respect that, just chill out and pass by.
For the ones who read this to the very end - exclusive announcement. On my art acc I'll definitely draw my beloved feather serpent god, not once nor twice, since now it's a comfort character of mine and im going to embrace my urge for historicall, cultural and mythological studies as much as i can. But with some time pass. I have the ideas, now I need to gain some stability, mental at least. I'd love to share love for him with you, feel free to be my guest.

Personally I think he might be genuinely nice [ at least at the moment ] for a two reasons.
He might have some kin feelings to him as two of them are lost children without proper parental support
Jed's life already been a nightmare, so [ I think ] Corinthian stepped aside of this one and chill.
And as I get he thinks of Rose like of his ally already - Morpheus is going after both of them and not gonna spare, so ending him first is the obviously the best way to deal with it. Maybe Corinthian even had some kind of friendly feelings, and bit of this feeling might be shared to Jed.
In the show, would you say Corinthian was being genuinely nice at times with Jed when he bought the ice cream and was talking to him? Or was it all just gaining his trust to get him back to Rose.
What do you think?

Раніше я тільки чула про Шевченківський гай,але коли я побувала там,була в приємному шоці. Там настільки гарно,що в мене рот не закривався від здивування👀/Before, I had only heard about Shevchenkivskyi Grove, but when I visited there, I was in for a pleasant shock. It is so beautiful there that my mouth couldn't stop being surprised👀

I can't even do my job, let alone draw for myself, because russia keeps hitting our energy infrastructure. Need to make sure that I take into account 8-12 hour power outages when I plan anything.
But I'd rather spend an entire winter without electricity than a minute under russian occupation. Kiss my ass.

Why the world don't care about us being literally left without basic means for any peaceful existing?
Our power plants are damaged, our water supplies weakened, heating gets shut off, mobile internet is disappearing.
russians wage full on genocide against us, just for being Ukrainian.
Why nobody cares that we will either freeze to death, or will be left without water, in darkness and with no way to even call for help, because we are disconnected from the world? Why everyone hush us when we are upset, and speak of "not hurting anyone's feelings"? Why hating your abuser is viewed as wrong?
It's so unfair that those bloody terrorists still have the comfort, festivals, commissions, traveling and no fear of missiles in their sleep, and yet they dare to complain when world rightfully calls them terrorists and whine that they aren't being treated like welcomes guests anymore. They all are at fault for my country being indiscriminately turned into ruin, yet they loudly deny it.
I blame every russian sitizen for what is happening, for all the suffering and nightmares, all the destruction and deaths. It's russians fault!
I wish them all to never be allowed to leave their beloved bog, so they can continue praising their "perfect" regime of "faith", "prosperity", "tolerance" and "acceptance".
I HATE RUZZIANS WITH ALL MY ESSENCE AND WISH THEM NOTHING BUT MISERY

Whenever Hob gets into trouble (debts, brawls, getting caught smooching the duke’s daughter and the sort) he turns to his old and tried method: faking his own death.
He finds it an ingenious solution to all problems with the additional boon that he gets to watch his own ‘funeral’ and all his enemies having to say shit like ‘he was the best man I’ve ever known, a real good fellow’ while actually all they want to do is spit on his grave and scream with rage.
So imagine post-1889 Hob watching one of these funerals high up from the church balcony, getting an absolute kick out of it until his Stranger shows up in full Victorian widower wife’s gear, black veil included.
Dream’s heartbroken. After the argument they had he asked Jessamy to keep an eye on Hob and he was absolutely devastated when he learned about his death. He kneels down by the empty casket, not minding the crowd gathered to mourn the early, tragic passing of Rupert J. Gadlen 1855-1891.
“So it has come to this day, Hob,” he says, his voice so pained that had Hob not been still pissed about their last meeting, his heart would ache in sympathy. “I knew it was inevitable, but I hoped—” Dream’s voice breaks, haltered by a single choked down sob and bloody hell, Hob’s never been good at holding grudges, he’s forgiven him already there and then, but Dream continues, “I hoped I should get a chance to an apology. To call you my friend. If you hear me beyond the invisible veils of this realm, you must know: I loved nothing in the world as well as you. Nothing, Hob.”
He starts weeping then, a quiet but visibly anguished ordeal and Hob’s this close to just march down and claim he’s miraculously returned from the dead when a familiar woman approaches Dream and puts a hand on his shoulder.
“Hello little brother, it’s been too long,” she says cheerfully. “How have you been faring? Didn’t expect to see you here, but a happy coincidence, isn’t it? It’s a small world, after all.”
When Dream turns towards her the woman’s smile diminishes.
“Oh dear,” she gasps. “What happened?”
“You dare,” Dream growls. “You dare asking me that when you took him from me! The one I’ve held the most dear, you robbed me of him. Sister mine I shall call you no longer. Accursed be the day—”
“Whoah slow down, slow down! I didn’t know you were so attached to Vicar Leyburn, but I’m sure we can figure something out,” the woman says and Dream stares at her.
“The Vicar?”
“He’s supposed to have a heart attack right after the ceremony, any minute now,” she says, her eyebrows knitted with confusion. “Isn’t that why you’re so upset?”
“You better not jest me now,” Dream hisses. “Hob Gadling might have been just another mortal soul for you to reap, but to me—”
“Hob?” the woman interrupts Dream. “What’s wrong with him? He’s up there!” She gestures upwards with her hand in the direction of Hob’s hiding spot on the balcony.
Dream’s eyes narrow at her.
“If you try to placate me saying he’s in the Silver City by the Almighty’s side—”
“No, you absolute walnut, look, he’s literally up there!”
Dream and about two hundred people gathered in the church to mourn Hob turn towards the balcony.
Hob waves back at them with an awkward smile.
