“And I won’t,” Yusuf says.

“Good.”

I wrote this one-shot as a standalone but everyone’s love and support was so kind and overwhelming, I got inspired to write a series of prequels to share the stories of Yusuf’s and Niccolò’s weddings throughout the ages. I won’t be posting the one-shots in chronological order. Also, these new one-shots are prequels and they can likely be understood individually but I’d recommend reading Vows first in order to fully understand the series, as it sets the tone and context of it all.

Maddie shoulders her schoolbag and wrinkles her nose, sniffling in the rain. It had taken the better part of the afternoon to run away from home and her feet were getting tired from all the walking.

Her skirt stuck to her thighs, her shoes squelched with every step she took, but none of it mattered at all the moment Uncle Jay's house swims into view through the trees. Inky twilight shadows casts the house in watery blue. It had been a while since she was back here. Since her aunt's funeral, actually.

For a moment she wonders if her uncle was still living here. Her dad and him had never been particularly close but he was her uncle and Maddie still had good memories of him at birthdays and Christmases. He will help her, she knows that.

She steps up to the door and rings the bell.

OOOF, that is actually a hard question. uhhhhhh. I’m really proud of most of the fics I have posted to AO3, honestly.It’s a two-way tie and I can’t pick a singular LINE? But some chunks:This chunk from At The Crossings of Two Heart Lines: (Joe/Nicky retelling of the Orpheus/Eurydice myth!)"I have not doubted you since the first time I saw your eyes light up when they met mine across the first dinner we prepared together. Habibi, you are warmth on a cold night. You are the stars in the sky, leading me home because that is where you are," Yusuf says, taking longer strides. The ground beneath him is inclining, slowly but surely, and Yusuf thinks of Nicolò leading goats through the paths and the nanny goat that had adopted him.I really love that chunk because it’s something that I had rattling around in my head from the first moment I opened the file to start writing it. It came out exactly as I originally thought of it and that’s kind of rare for me!And this chunk from That Tangles Me (To Keep Me Alive) which is Han/Lando heist fic:"Played sabacc against him a few times. Won some, lost some," Lando says shrugging. His side pulls where the synth-skin is still integrating, making him wince. Han hums lightly, looking over the 'pad before he turns his off, tossing it down."You win fair and square or did you have an array up the sleeve?""Baby, I always have an array up the sleeve," Lando says, making Han snort. Rolling his eyes, Lando doesn't respond as he leans back, hissing at the pain in his side. "I didn't cheat against Beagood because he's unpredictable. Guy like you? You might be mad, you might be up for a rematch. Guy like Beagood? Might be up for a rematch, might have me shot."THIS was so much fun to write. I really really love writing Lando and I LOVE heist movies and fics and this was one of my favorite pieces of dialogue.
