I'm sure this has been done countless times, but polls are fun and I'm curious, so... For the purposes of this poll, I'm only counting shows/books/games/etc. where Sherlock is a main or very prominent secondary character, there's a decent amount of other Sherlock canon characters represented (at least a version of a John Watson), and there are some references made to the ACD originals. Not counting where he's only a relative of the lead but not a main (like Enola Holmes, RKDD, etc.)

Not counting the ACD original canon as an adaptation here, as none of these would exist without it. Everything else listed is adapting it in some way.

There's also some series I haven't watched/read yet but have been recommended that aren't on here yet for the purposes of space, including Detective L, Miss Sherlock and the Bonnie MacBird Sherlock books.

Birds really use sound in the craziest ways.

King penguin chicks can hear a quarter of a second of their parents' call and know it is them. While surrounded by hundreds of other screaming birds.

White bellbirds produce a call that hits 125.4 decibels — the same volume as a whole-ass rock concert.

Common nightingales have between 150 and 200 distinct song types. Mostly used for seduction (who's surprised tbh?)

Parts of male zebra finch brains are 3-6 times larger than females to accommodate the complexity of their songs.

The cassowary head casque might have evolved primarily to act as a microphone to broadcast calls so low, us humans can't hear them. They even tilt their head down and forward to make the broadcast more effective.

Superb lyrebirds are probably the best mimics on Earth, and tailor their courtship dances to particular sounds they've "collected." They literally have a dance for the "song" of a chainsaw.

Truly bonkers shit these birds be doing with sound.

My composition got a little spread out and I feel like I could have kept it a lot tighter and more true to the original, but I'm VERY happy with it overall. I totally made up Data's insides as I went along because there isn't a lot of info on his guts, and the one image I did find didn't have any lungs, which I find hard to believe since he breathes a lot. Is there any practical purpose for his lungs to glow blue? No, but he canonically has blinking lights inside his head so i figured I might as well do whatever I want <3

I had three days, an urge to draw mountains, and far too many emotions. Some things I got excited about:

Book jacket: did you notice the glacier shape? and I put the book price on the spine, which was a thing on my ~1989 copy of one of LeGuin’s other books

Orange page: my take on pesthrys, the furry little animals that lay eggs

Height difference!!
