hello there! i just read ch. 88 of ‘balance’ (‘dear one’) and i’m OBSESSED. do you have anymore headcanons for this au? i’d love to hear your thoughts <3

:D Thank you so much!! Of all the Obikin stuff I've written, it's my favourite, or at least the one I think about the most.

It was inspired by this true crime doc I watched one time - this woman's son had been involved with all kinds of shit, committed a nasty murder, then later killed himself, and she just clearly could not deal with any of it. Like, she had all these pics of him up in her house, and his old toys, and talked about him as though he were a baby. So when I got a prompt for Obi-Wan being pushed over the edge, that was what my mind immediately jumped to.

The whole fic scenario is so chilling and fucked up to me. Obi-Wan would be using some kind of ball-gag type thing in place of a dummy on Anakin, who would be trying to shriek and cry, so Obi-Wan would be standing at the side of his 'crib', stroking his little wisps of hair back from the scarred skin of his forehead, shushing him and singing him lullabies.

Nobody else even knows Vaderkin is alive, there's no hope of anyone ever coming looking for him, and Obi-Wan would be telling him how great that was, because now he can be with his little Ani forever.

When Anakin gets angry and promises death and retribution, Obi-Wan just responds with stuff like 'somebody's hungry/tired' in a sing song voice, until Anakin exhausts himself and can do nothing but lie there and listen to Obi-Wan explaining how he knows what's best for him.

When he gets weepy and desperate, Obi-Wan pulls him into his lap to cuddle him, Anakin's face to his chest so his words are muffled, and apologises for never doing that back at the Temple - all while 'reassuring' him that everything's different now. Obi-Wan will always be there for him now.

In desperation Anakin would even try to end it all. Refuse to eat, or try to push his face into a pillow. But Obi-Wan keeps too close a watch. Would simply force feed him, or put him in some kind of breathing apparatus akin to Vader's breather to ensure he can't hurt himself...

Sometimes Obi-Wan seems more with it, more like Anakin might be able to actually get through to him, and he'd put on all the charm that got him through his padawan years. Promise that he'll be good, that Obi-Wan can trust him, but it never works.

Obi-Wan lets him get his hopes up, looks like he's thinking about letting him loose or whatever, but then he tells Anakin that he doesn't need to prove himself.

Obi-Wan loves him just the way he is: his helpless little baby.

Reading age gap fics where Character A knew Character B when B was a baby (something like a…. 22 year age gap?), and so many fics make sure to have SEVERAL paragraphs where the characters talk about how they're all consenting adults, how this is fine because they've Communicated, how knowing someone as a child does not change your capacity to have a relationship in any way…

And look. Yeah. Absolutely. That's great. I've been in a bunch of age gap relationships and don't believe that they're inherently unhealthy or that power dynamics are ever as straight-forward as people think.

But I am LONGING for the fics that revel in the fucked-upness, the complications, the daddy issues, all the weird ground you sometimes have to navigate when your partner is much older than you. Stop giving me upstanding characters making morally correct choices! (and especially stop giving me the conversations where they loudly make declarations about consent and explain to each other why this is totally okay). Give me people who are being real weirdos about this! Give me kinks that are made uncomfortable by the context of this relationship! Give me guilt and shame and sex made even hotter by those things!

This is about the Top Gun fandom, if anyone is wondering.
