i'm writing my first omegaverse, and i wanted to ask abt the diff between an unclaimed and unmated omega, and if these omegas can go into heat when an alpha they like gets jealous of them spending time with someone else :)

Great question! I actually have a post or two about the difference between unmated and unclaimed omegas and what an unclaimed omega's heat is like.

It depends on the stability of the omega's heat cycle. Usually it's twice a year/every 6 months-ish. This pattern can be destabilized based on the omega's mental and physical stability.

I'm getting off track a bit though. I don't think they'd go into heat because their alpha was jealous. If their alpha does something extra spicy and the omega had claimed them then it's possible the alpha jump-starts their heat. But it wouldn't happen based on the situation alone.

I think you could get a fun story out of it!

I am a huge fan of Omegas growling when upset. I think it would probably be an uncommon thing just because omegas are treated in a certain way BUT that means that when it happens it is so much more shocking!

I'm thinking about older omegas that watch out for their younger counterparts. Like in a mall if an omega is distressed, a friendly feral grandma omega shows up to growl at people getting in the distressed omega's space.

I love the idea of omegas as caretakers but not passive! Omegas that break into their friend's house to drop off nesting supplies all the while being like "You have shit nesting stuff here you go also im going to be on your couch to make sure no one bugs you okay".

Thinking about omegas that scent mark everything they touch like possessive little monsters. You cannot lend them clothes unless you accept that they will return them completely covered in their scent.

My personal favourite type of feral adjacent omega is kinda bratty and mean but I also love the idea of aggressively supportive and caring feral omega.

I've seen a different version of Hanahaki going around where it's not fatal-- either because there's treatments for it or just because there's no roots or stems and it's just petals and flower buds and blooms.

And I think that introduces an interesting dynamic. Like it's just a thing that happens when your body experiences certain hormones like 'being in love' and some people might just have it their whole lives due to a hormonal imbalance.

But let's get scientific and say the flower petals themselves are made of the cellulose in the body that the digestive tract can't process and they're held in a chamber until it's time for release.

The reasoning behind them being that humans evolved to hack up colorful soft things for the person they want to be their mate. Beautiful flower-petal like structures in vibrant colors that they can offer to their lover as proof of their regard.

Some humans might've cheated in the past and bought someone else's petals or used real flower petals...

This is giving me so many ideas about stuff...

beta scent-shifting — a beta is able to consciously (or unconsciously) shift their scent to mimic another’s. they can disguise themselves as an alpha, omega, or another beta—and even mimic a milky pup scent. this is typically used to calm packmates, and also makes them invaluable in the medical field or for calming those in a feral state. there are varying skill levels, with some being able to fool any nose, and others only able to fool those in distress / not thinking clearly.

omega suggestion — also referred to as the omega voice. it incites in people a desire to please, to protect, to make the omega happy. it can also have a relaxing effect. it’s most effective on other pack members, or those with a positive relationship with the omega—though some have particularly powerful voices, & can affect even those they aren’t close with/who actively dislike them. the sound is generally gentle & soothing; soft & crooning; or lyrical & melodious.

a study into omegaverse genetics and genders

Omegaverse is a fanfiction au that doesn't have a definite description. This is my idea and my perspective but I am by no means saying this is the law of omegaverse. Other writers will have other opinions. However, if another writer is reading this and likes this basis, feel free to use it.

Like genes, the child will end up with certain genders depending on the parents. For example, parents with brown eyes will have a child with brown eyes but parents with one pair of brown eyes and one pair of blue have the possibility of either a brown eyed child or a blue eyed child.

Depending on the parents combination of first gender (m/f) and second gender (a/b/o), there are only certain combinations of genders that the child could end up with. For example, if a female alpha and female omega reproduce there is no Y chromosome in the parents genes therefore it is not possible for them to produce a male child. However, male parents have both X and Y chromosomes so it is possible for them to produce either male or female children.

Here is every possible couple combination and what children those parents could potentially produce.

Like I said before, this is by no means the law of omegaverse now. This is my opinion and other writers are free to use this if they want but I am by no means forcing this on anyone. hello!! a thought came into my head. in some universes, male omegas have to get a c-section, otherwise giving birth is not possible. what did they do in the ancient times then?? did male omegas just not have kids? what happened if they got pregnant accidentally??? oh god this is so upsetting pls i need to know

Hi! Unfortunately I don't think I can be much help here as my universe has much more mixed sex characteristics than something like that. So male omega are able to have children safely and naturally- see this link here for the post

Of course things can always go wrong in pregnancy and birth- a breach birth in times before c-section and proper medical care could very often land the parent and child in a dangerous position. But c-sections have also been around for a long time- they just weren't very safe for a good while.
