“Jodie and I didn't really talk a lot [about our characters], because there was so much magic that was going on that we both knew: We're not going to touch it. We're just not going to talk about it. It's going to be very ambiguous. And I think that's some of what really works between the two characters. You don't know what's happening between them. They don't really know what's happening between them.”
sleeping on the highway over Sandra's implication that Villaneve interactions were almost entirely organic (save the script) and that she and Jodie worked off of mutual vibes and a dream. imagine having that raw chemistry as a show runner and squandering it.
sandra and jodie really decided to kiss and touch and be with each other like That because it felt right and good and true to their characters. they understood eve and villanelle so intrinsically and gave us not only one of the most iconic scenes in the entire series but one of the greatest screen kisses of all time. the exuberance, the flushed joy was eve and villanelle but Also sandra and jodie. all they had was two mouths and a dream and created a masterpiece in 51 seconds. i owe them my life and they owe me for my therapy bills.
I am losing my mind. The entire kiss scene, THE ENTIRE KISS SCENE, was improvised by Jodie and Sandra. The cheek kiss, the hand hold, the kiss then pull away then smile and kiss again, the laughing, the walking and kissing, the ass slap, the shrug by Sandra, the little run around the van by Jodie. IT WAS ALL IMPROVISED
This blog is 4 years old (Sun 15 Apr 2018 - Sun 17 Apr 2022) so it feels right to say goodbye now.
I want to give a huge shout out to all the content creators:
Gif makers - KE was frustratingly difficult to colour but week after week you made vibrant and creative edits. Thank you.
Fan artists - You are so talented to capture the core of who these characters are. Often at their most wholesome and/or murderous. Thank you.
Fan vidders - The parallels and storytelling you create by the way you put scenes together always blows my mind. Thank you.
Fanfic writers - In particular, the amount of fix-it fics you wrote after the finale has helped everyone remember why we love the show and what it should’ve been. Thank you.
Fandom thoughts - Whether it be long post analyses or keysmashes and reaction pics while live blogging, your energy and passion for this show is unmatched. Thank you.
This fandom means so much to me and I’m so grateful to you all for helping to create a space on here that helped us feel connected to each other. <333
“But showrunner Laura Neal killed off Villanelle so seemingly carelessly, after dangling the carrot of a fully realized and happy (if not somewhat dysfunctional) lesbian relationship in viewers faces. It didn't just feel like sloppy storytelling—it felt personal.”
impossibility of the sniper angles aside it's just soooo crazy to me how Carolyn was like "oh yeah these two idiots are definitely going to come out of the boat at this particular time in this particular area of the Thames" like...girl what?? did she have snipers lined up all along the river or did they have to haul ass to new perches with their gear every time the boat got too far? what if villaneve had gotten off the boat at the same time as everyone else to blend in? was she gonna just have people shooting wildly into a wedding party?? god the more I think about this scene the more convoluted it gets
just realized Eve isn't wearing her scarf during the scene that aired which means they filmed this at least twice. the current state of my mental health can definitely handle this information 🙂
